Fred Gerber
Fred Gerber, 89, Jamestown, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006, at Jamestown Hospital, Jamestown. Services were Tuesday at St. Mathias Catholic Church, Windsor. Burial was at St. Pauline’s Cemetery, Windsor.
Mr. Gerber was born Jan. 3, 1917 on the family farm in rural Napoleon, the son of Mathias and Anna Gerber. He was raised and attended school in rural Napoleon.
He married Kay Snopko on Jan. 2, 1948, and they settled on a farm southwest of Jamestown.
Edwin Gienger
Edwin Gienger, 89, Streeter, died Wednesday August 9, 2006 at the Jamestown Hospital in Jamestown. Funeral services were Saturday at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Streeter. Interment was made in the Lutheran Cemetery at Streeter.
Mr. Gienger was born November 1, 1916 in Streeter, the son of John and Christina (Schmidt) Gienger. The family moved to a farm when he was six.
He married Virginia Perman June 2, 1939 in Streeter. They made their home on a farm 6 miles SW of Streeter where they farmed.
Joyce Antoinette (Aurit) Schnabel
Joyce Antoinette (Aurit) Schnabel, 53, Cambridge, IA. died August 12, 2006. Services are scheduled at Cambridge Lutheran Church, Wednesday, August 16.
She was born February 16, 1953 in Jamestown to James Donald and Josephine (Wanzek) Aurit. She married Danny Dean Schnabel of Napoleon on November 19, 1971.
Helen Wentz
The funeral for Helen Wentz, 87, Napoleon, was Friday, August 11, 2006 at the United Methodist Church in Napoleon. Helen died Monday, August 7, 2006 at the Wishek Community Hospital, Wishek. Burial was at Napoleon City Cemetery, Napoleon.
Helen Rau, daughter of John and Katherina (Raile) Rau, was born January 11, 1919 on the family farm near Napoleon. She grew up and attended school. Helen was united in marriage to Reuben Wentz on April 21, 1950 in Napoleon at the EUB Parsonage.
Ida Zimmerman
Ida Zimmerman, 94, Jamestown, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2006, at Central Dakota Village, Jamestown. Services were held Thursday at First Baptist Church, Jamestown. Interment was made at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown.
Ida Becker was born March 28, 1912, on the family farm 12 miles east of Napoleon, the daughter of Henry H. and Katherine (Kogler) Becker. She grew up and attended school in Dixon Township, Logan County. She married Jake Zimmerman on May 12, 1936, at the Baptist church in Streeter.
Ervin "Erv" Eissinger
Ervin "Erv" Eissinger, 82, Gackle., died Wednesday, Nov, 8, 2006, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo. Services were Tuesday at the Basilica of St. James, Jamestown, with burial in the Gackle City Cemetery, Gackle.
Mr. Eissinger was born July 5, 1924, in Wishek, the son of Carl and Lydia (Lang) Eissinger. He grew up and received his elementary education in the local school.
He married Colette Haut on April 18, 1949, in Gackle. They lived in Gackle where he was associated with Haut's Inc.
Esther Entzi
Esther Entzi, 91, Wishek, died Saturday, November 11, 2006 in the Wishek Home for the Aged. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 16 at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Lehr. Interment will be made in the Lehr Cemetery.
Esther Munsch was born August 29, 1915 in Logan County, the daughter of Karl Sr. and Ottilia (Widmer) Munsch.
She and Andrew Entzi were married October 3, 1932 at Ashley. They made their home on a farm southwest of Fredonia, where they farmed from 1932 to 1973 when they retired and moved into Lehr.
Mildred Iszler
Mildred Iszler, 84, Napoleon, formerly of the Streeter community died Wednesday, November 8, 2006 in the Napoleon Care Center. The funeral was Monday, November 13 in the United Methodist Church in Streeter. Interment will be made in the Streeter City Cemetery, Streeter.
Mildred Hilda Roth was born February 3, 1922 two miles south of Streeter. She received her elementary education in the local rural school and attended Streeter High School. She grew to womanhood in the vicinity where she helped on the family farm. She and Edwin M. Iszler were married September 7, 1939 at Bowdle, SD.
Shawn Moch
The funeral for Shawn Moch, 35, Georgetown, CO, formerly from Hazelton, was Thursday, November 9 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Hazelton. Burial was at the Kintyre Cemetery. Shawn died Monday, November 6, 2006 at Hi-Acres Manor in Jamestown.
Shawn was born December 28, 1970 in Bismarck, the son of Edward and Frances (Craig) Moch. He graduated from Hazelton-Moffit School in May 1990.
Fred Schmierer
Fred Schmierer, 100, Jamestown, died Nov. 9, 2006, at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center, Jamestown. Services were Wednesday at Haut Funeral Chapel, Jamestown. Burial was in Gackle Cemetery.
Mr. Schmierer was born Oct. 31, 1906 on the family farm northeast of Gackle, the son of John and Elizabeth (Eberharth) Schmierer.
He married Hulda Sommerfeld on Feb. 28, 1935. They lived on a farm north of Gackle. In the fall of 1944, they moved to a farm four miles north of Gackle.
Lenhard Wagner
Lenhard "Lenny" Wagner, 70, Bismarck, died Nov. 10, 2006, at Medcenter One Hospital in Bismarck. Services were Tuesday at Capital Christian Center. Burial was in the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery.
Lenhard Wagner was born August 27, 1936 in Forbes, the son of Adam and Martha (Waltz) Wagner. Lenny proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1958. On April 23, 1965 he was joined in marriage to Louise Rohrich in Napoleon.
Magdalena "Maggie" (Gienger) Bitterman
Magdalena "Maggie" (Gienger) Bitterman, age 98, formerly of Streeter, died June 3, 2007 in Canandaigua, NY. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, June 23 at 1:00 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 424 1st Ave. S, Jamestown, interment in Highland Cemetery, Jamestown.
Maggie was born January 1, 1909 on a farm near Streeter the daughter of John and Christine (Schmidt) Gienger. She married John Bitterman in 1934 in Napoleon. They farmed in Nortonville with John’s brother for several years, then worked on a dairy farm in Olympia, WA.
