Beverly Erickson
Beverly Erickson, 41, Durango, Calif., and formerly of Bismarck, died Feb. 4, 1998, in a Denver hospital from complications for treatment of breast cancer. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at First Presbyterian Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Ben Dove officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

Public visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today, and 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, both at Boelter Funeral Home, Bismarck. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to services at the church also.

Beverly was born April 23, 1956, in Bismarck, the daughter of Bernie and Etta (Teal) Schue. She was raised and educated in Bismarck; graduating with a bachelor's degree in health and nutrition from Moorhead State University in Minnesota. She worked for the State Health Department in Bismarck, and continued working in the health field in Denver.

In 1981, she married Daryl Erickson in Bismarck. Following their marriage, they moved to Denver where they were blessed with the birth of their two children, Tyler James on June 20, 1985, and Leah Rae on Feb. 20, 1988.

Bev enjoyed outdoor activities with her family, including hiking, camping, biking, and skiing. She was very active in her Christian community. She was involved in Christian Education Committee, as well as teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, and she actively served in the Women's Association of the church. Bev was also involved for the past six years in International Bible Study Fellowship as a continuation of her journey in Christ.

In addition to being a wonderful wife, mother, sister and daughter; she was a best friend to all.

She is survived by her husband, Daryl; one daughter, Leah; and one son, Tyler; her parents, Bernie and Etta; one brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Debbie Schue, Grand Forks; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Pam and Chuck Hipple, Bismarck, and Julie and Rich Bell, Oklahoma City, Okla.; her nephews, Matthew and Luke Hipple; and her nieces, Elissa and Jenna Schue, and Rachel and Laura Erickson.

Bev was preceded in death by her grandparents; and one nephew, Zachary Hipple.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to "Race for the Cure". (Boelter Funeral Home, Bismarck)

Marguerite Herman
BEULAH -- Marguerite Herman, 88, Beulah, died Feb. 4, 1998, in a Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Saturday, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Beulah, with the Revs. Austin Vetter and Eugene Morman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. MST today, at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah, where a vigil service and rosary will be said at 7 p.m. MST tonight, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Beulah.

Marguerite McLaughlin was born at Hazen on Oct. 27, 1909 to Jack and Maggie (Maloney) McLaughlin. She graduated from Hazen High School and Dickinson Normal School. She taught school at Beulah and Stanton. On Oct. 2, 1933, she married Carl Herman at St. Martin's Church, Hazen. They lived on a farm south of Beulah where she still resided after Carl passed away on Jan. 28, 1978.

Marguerite was active in numerous clubs and organizations. She belonged to St. Joseph's Altar Society, Royal Neighbors and Aplin Homemakers for over 50 years. She was a member of Christian Mothers and the Beulah Historical Society. She was a leader of the Farmers Union Youth Education and was secretary of the local Farmers Union for 18 years. Marguerite was honored at the North Dakota Mother of the Year in 1973. She was an F.H.A. Chapter Mother and cancer county chairman.

Marguerite dearly loved bridge and played bridge every Tuesday for as long as she could. She also served as Clerk of the Green Vale School District for 20 years. She belonged to TOPS No. 199 for 19 years and served as treasurer for 17 years.

Marguerite will be remembered as a gracious hostess. She enjoyed all people immensely and always had an endless supply of pies, caramel rolls and homemade buns on hand. She was blessed with the right amount of style. She loved fancy dishes, lace tablecloths, elegance and always made each event so special. She reached out to so many people and touched many lives, friends and family alike. Her grandchildren especially remember the many cards of support or congratulations, always accompanied with a little gift. Her deep faith will be remembered by her example. Marguerite attended mass regularly and believed in prayer and service to others. Her beautiful handwriting was her trademark.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Darell and Sherry, Beulah; three daughters and one son-in-law, Mary Margaret and Dennis Wolf, Marleen Schnaidt and Karen Heth, all of Dickinson; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Maggie McLaughlin; her husband, Carl; three grandchildren, Timothy James and Mary Pat Schnaidt, and Jennifer Heth; one sister, Kathleen; and two brothers and one sister-in-law, Joe McLaughlin, and John and Hertha McLaughlin. Donald Falconer
Donald W. Falconer, 77, Bismarck, died Feb. 5, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, Bismarck. Further arrangements are pending at Eastgate Funeral Service.

Eva Richter
GOODRICH -- Eva Richter, 91, Goodrich, died Feb. 4, 1998, in the Harvey hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Peace Lutheran Church, Goodrich, with burial in Goodrich Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to noon Monday at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.

She is survived by her husband, Theodore; one son and daughter-in-law, Gordon and Marlene, Goodrich; one daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Gene Wehe, Juneau, Alaska; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Hazel Stumvoll
GARRISON -- Hazel Stumvoll, 94, Garrison, died Feb. 5, 1998, in the Garrison nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, Coleharbor. Further arrangements are pending at Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison.

Esther Christensen
MINNEWAUKAN -- Esther C. Christensen, 93, Minnewaukan, died Feb. 4, 1998, in the Devils Lake hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, Minnewaukan, with burial in Minnewaukan Cemetery.

She is survived by one daughter, Ardys Schmid, Minnewaukan; three sons, Buell, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Gary, Minnewaukan, and Dean, Dickinson; and four sisters, Alice Toman, Flasher, Genevieve Weiss and Gladys Duncan, both of New Salem, and Beverly Hogan, Mandan. (Nelson Funeral Home, Minnewaukan)

Henry Zahn
NEW ENGLAND -- Henry Zahn Jr., 73, New England, died Feb. 6, 1998, in the Hettinger hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MST Monday at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church, New England. Further arrangements are pending at Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson.

Steve Palahniuk
FAIRFIELD -- Steve A. Palahniuk, 74, Fairfield, died Feb. 6, 1998, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Tuesday at St. Demitrius Ukrainian Catholic Church, rural Belfield. Further arrangements are pending at Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson.

Gust Miller
GLEN ULLIN -- Gust Miller, 95, Glen Ullin, died Feb. 5, 1998, in Glen Ullin. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MST Monday at First Congregational United Church of Christ, Glen Ullin, with burial in Glen Ullin Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Spangelo Funeral Home, Glen Ullin, and will continue at the church one hour before services. A prayer service will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Gust was born March 27, 1902, at Johannestahl, South Russia, to Carl and Rosina (Diede) Miller. He came to the United States with his parents in 1904. They homesteaded near Glen Ullin, where he was raised and educated. He married Martha Sayler, Nov. 20, 1924, at Hebron. They settled on a farm southwest of Glen Ullin where they engaged in farming until 1967. They retired and moved into Glen Ullin. Martha died July 25, 1996.

He enjoyed music and singing. He entered the Marian Manor Nursing Home in Glen Ullin in September 1991.

He is survived by two sons, Duane and Chester, both of Glen Ullin; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Helen Metzger, Hebron.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one son, Waldy; two brothers; and five sisters.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Marian Manor Nursing Home or First Congregational Church, both of Glen Ullin.

Reinhold Berg
Reinhold S. Berg, 88, Bismarck Baptist Home, formerly of Wing, died Feb. 5, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Wing, with the Rev. Paul Schauer officiating. Burial will be in Wing Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck.

Reinhold was born Oct. 4, 1909, at Wing, the son of Christ and Elizabeth (Neumiller) Berg. He was raised and attended school in Wing. He farmed north of Wing during his younger years. On May 30, 1937, he married Katherine Schwindt in Tuttle. They made their home in Wing where he worked for Burleigh County as a heavy equipment operator. He retired after 40 years with the county. Katherine died in 1974. On Dec. 3, 1982, he married Cecelia Martin. Cecelia died in 1991. In 1994 he entered the Baptist Home.

He is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Reuben and Carol, West Fargo, and Burnell, Bismarck; three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Rudy Unruh, Wing, Lenora and Paul Folmer, Regan, and Susan and Donald Stockert, Bismarck; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Andrew, Bismarck, Ernest, Wing, Art, Lodi, Calif., and Sam, Fargo; and two sisters, Pauline Heinrich, Bismarck, and Freda Leno, Valley City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; two sisters; two wives; and one granddaughter.

Kenneth Schell
Kenneth Schell, 56, 112 W. Buffalo St., Mandan, died Feb. 4, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan, with burial in Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a parish vigil will begin at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

Kenneth was born Aug. 24, 1941, in Rugby, the son of Peter and Barbara (Burkhard) Schell. He attended high school in Berwick and graduated in 1960. On May 2, 1964, he married Caroline Schmidt at St. Anselms in Fulda. They then moved to Minot where Kenneth worked for Muus Lumber and then for Peavey Elevator until 1981. In 1981 they moved to Watford City to work for Schell Construction. In 1987, Kenneth and his family moved to Mandan to manage Meadow Park Trailer Court. A year later Kenneth began working at Chief Construction. He was a proud member of Promise Keepers. Kenneth attended Word of Faith Church and a member of Spirit of Life Church. At Spirit of Life Church he was a eucharistic minister and served on the hospitality and spirituality committees. Kenneth had been a member of Knights of Columbus for 30 years.

Kenneth's hobbies included socializing, hunting, fishing, working outdoors and collecting older model cars. Kenneth also enjoyed talking about the history of North Dakota, especially the Rugby area.

Kenneth lived his life to the fullest. In the past three years he touched many people with his strong faith and love of his Lord. His generous concern for others and his family was very important and came first. His hope was for people to forgive and build bridges of friendship with one another.

He is survived by his wife, Carole; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth D. and Kristin, Seattle, and Gary and Sherry, Rapid City, S.D.; two daughters, Sandra Schell, Mandan, and Laurie Schell and her fiance, Dave Boeshans, Burnsville, Minn.; five grandchildren, David M. Schell, Dustin, Derek and Dylan White, and Taylor Boeshans; his parents, Peter and Barbara Schell, Rugby; five brothers, Larry, Watford City, Fred, Towner, Frank, Towner, Myron, Williston, and Brian, Minneapolis; and seven sisters, Patricia Luther, Williston, Carol Garman, Watford City, Barbara Volk, Minot, Genny Berg, Bismarck, Carlotta Schall, Towner, Kathy Tittle, Beulah, and Renae Perkins, Minot.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Sister Bernice Schell.

Edward Kurle
Edward Kurle, 88, 1725 N. Fourth St., died June 16, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at McCabe United Methodist Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Peary Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 tonight and from 9 a.m. to noon Friday at Eastgate Funeral Service, and will continue at the church one hour before services.

Edward was born March 14, 1909, in New Leipzig, the son of Fred and Otille (Vossler) Kurle. He attended school in that area, graduating from New Leipzig High School in 1928. He also attended University of North Dakota and a business school in Fargo. In 1933, he entered Fort Lincoln Military Post south of Bismarck. After completing his term with the military in 1939, he was employed by Bank of North Dakota. Edward moved to Washington, D.C., in August 1941, where he was employed in various federal areas. On June 13, 1943, he married Dorothy O. Swenson of Bismarck. They moved to Salt Lake City in 1945, where he was employed by the Internal Revenue Bureau for six years. They returned to Bismarck where he was an examiner in the State Auditor's Office for 15 years.

Edward was an avid reader and lover of books. He was loved by his family and many friends, and will be missed by all.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two sons and one daughter-in-law, James, Middleton, Wis., and Robert and Lita, Orlando, Fla.; two granddaughters, Christine and Sarah; one grandson, Robert Jr.; and three sisters, Gertrude Keller, Portland, Ore., Lydia Manning, Clairmont, Fla., and Esther Remele, Alliance, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and five sisters.

The family prefers memorials to any missions or the donor's choice.

Thekla Kruger
Thekla Kruger, 85, Bismarck Baptist Home, died June 18, 1997, in the nursing home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan, with the Rev. Clyde Leimberer officiating. Burial will be in Soap Lake, Wash., at a later date.

Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan.

Thekla was born April 27, 1912, at St. Anthony, to Joseph and Philamenia (Schaff) Morrell. She was raised and educated at St. Anthony. She married Emil Kautzman in 1932 in St. Anthony. They had three daughters and one son. They divorced in 1960. She married Martin ``Dutch" Kruger in 1962 in Couer d' Alene, Idaho. Thekla worked as a waitress and bartender.

She was a life member of Disabled American Veterans, and a member of Eagles and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Luella Badeaux, Mandan, and Dianne and Archie Courtny, Phoenix; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Maxie and Stanley Helbling, Mandan, and Eva Herauf, Yakima, Wash.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Pauline; one son, Norman; three sisters; four brothers; and both of her husbands.

John Baranko
DICKINSON -- John Baranko, 84, Dickinson, died June 18, 1997, in a Dickinson nursing home. Arrangements are pending at Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson.

Lenora Robles
BEULAH -- Lenora Knight Robles, 57, Beulah, died June 16, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison. Further arrangements are pending.

Kathryn Kessel
BELFIELD -- Kathryn Kessel, 76, Belfield, died June 17, 1997, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. MDT Friday at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Belfield, with burial in the church cemetery.

She is survived by four sons, John, Beulah, and Robert, Jared and Gary, all of Belfield; five daughters, Judy Bicknese, Riverdale, Debra Messer, Richardton, Mary Chalupnik, Graveville, Minn., and Julie Jahner, Dickinson, and Jeannie Wosepka, South Heart; three brothers, Martin Hutzenbiler, Burlingame, Calif., Leo Hutzenbiler, Norfolk, Va., and Louis Hutzenbiler, Anaconda, Mont.; and three sisters, Mathilda Kessel and Ann Heidt, both of Dickinson, and Mary Meschke, Puyallup, Wash. Tillie Thomas
DICKINSON -- Tillie Thomas, 71, Dickinson, died June 17, 1997, in a Dickinson nursing home. Services will be at 10 a.m. MDT Friday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson, with burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Dickinson.

She is survived by one daughter, Delores Seiler, Dickinson; two sons, LeRoy Thomas, Glen Ullin, and Don Pavlicek, Dickinson; two sisters, Rose Daum and Regina Sanders, both of Anaconda, Mont.; and one brother, Frank Reisenauer, Dickinson. (Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson)
