Lenhardt Ritter
VENTURIA -- Lenhardt Ritter, 78, Venturia, died June 19, 1997, at his home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church, Ashley. Further arrangements are pending at Carlsen Funeral Home, Ashley.

John Zundel
JAMESTOWN -- John J. Zundel, 82, Jamestown, died June 20, 1997, in the Jamestown nursing home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church, Jud, with burial in Jud Lutheran Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Opal; three daughters, Karen Kleingartner, Gackle, Sandra Schmidt, Dickey, and Peggy Mack, Bismarck; one son, J. Neil, Jud; four brothers, Ted, Pierce, Colo., Baldwin, Tampa, Fla., Calvin, San Luis Obispo, Calif., and Delwayne, New Castle, Wyo.; and two daughters, Maggie Quashnick, New Brighton, Minn., and Sara Fode, Jud. Richard Jacobsen
Richard L. Jacobsen, 75, 208 E. Kavaney Drive, died June 20, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Bismarck. Further arrangements are pending at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck.

Adam Koppinger
DICKINSON -- Adam C. Koppinger, 62, Dickinson, died June 19, 1997, in the Deadwood, S.D. hospital. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. MDT Saturday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson, with burial in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Martha; three daughters, Denice Van Doorne, Kathy Koppinger and Sandy Glassheim, all of Dickinson; one son, Mike, Dickinson; and one sister, Helen Friedt, Dickinson. (Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson)

Claremont Meissner
GLEN ULLIN -- Claremont Meissner, 66, Glen Ullin, died April 7, 1998, in Bismarck. Services will be 10 a.m. MDT Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glen Ullin, with the Rev. Claude Seeberger officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan, with military rites provided by Lawrence Higbee Post of the American Legion.

Visitation will begin after 4 p.m. MDT Sunday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin. A wake service and rosary will be said at 7 p.m. MDT Sunday at the church.

Claremont was born on Aug. 5, 1931, in rural Glen Ullin, to Mike and Margaret (Muller) Meissner. He was raised and educated in rural Glen Ullin.

He worked for Hebron Brick Co. until leaving for out west where he worked for Boeing Aircraft.

He entered the U.S. Army on Jan. 23, 1952, and served in Korea. He was discharged on Dec. 30, 1953. Following his discharge, he returned to Glen Ullin and worked for the Standard Service Station.

He married Rosie Mosbrucker on June 14, 1954, at Glen Ullin. He began working for MDU in 1955 and was employed there until his retirement in 1993.

Claremont's greatest love in life was his family and he enjoyed the time spent with them. His hobbies included camping, fishing and searching for arrowheads and other artifacts.

He was a member of U.S. Army PFC T from Jan. 23, 1952 to Dec. 30, 1953. He was a member of Glen Ullin Saddle Club, Former Knights of Columbus and American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Rosie; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Randy and Pam, Hazen, Gary and Pauline, and Gerry and Joan, all of Bismarck, and Jeff, Glen Ullin; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Cindy Renner and her friend Kurt Schirado, Pam and Craig Wilhelm, and Melissa and Rick Erhart, all of Bismarck; 14 grandchildren; two brothers, Duane Meissner, Cheney, Wash., and Virgil Meissner, Kent, Wash.; and two sisters, Alice Hubbs, Bettendorf, Iowa, and Evelyn Grosz, Hebron.

He was preceded in death by his parents. (Spangelo Funeral Home, Glen Ullin)

Wilbert Reichenberg
HAZEN -- Wilbert "Willie" Reichenberg, 62, Hazen, died April 8, 1998, at his home, following a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be 10 a.m. MDT Saturday at Peace Lutheran Church, Hazen. Burial will be in the new Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Hazen.

Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. MDT today at Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen. Wilbert was born on May 7, 1935, at Hazen, the 10th child of Herman and Maria (Richter) Reichenberg.

He joined the Army in September of 1953 and served through August of 1955 in the Company A 7th Engineer Battalion.

On Sept. 14, 1956, Wilbert married Arlene Wiedrich at Peace Lutheran Church in Hazen. Together they had four children.

He worked various jobs until 1970, and then he became employed at Dakota Power Plant, where he worked for five years.

In 1975, Wilbert started at the Glen Harold Mine, where he operated heavy equipment. He continued working there until his early retirement.

To keep busy during retirement, he worked for his brother, Paul, in Hazen.

Wilbert was a member of the local UMW No. 9702. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, yardwork, and flying the American flag. Along with his family, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and made a special effort to be a very significant part of their lives.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary and Cliff Sheldon, Lead, S.D., Vicki Anderson, Aurora, Colo., and Peggy and Gary Anderson, Ray; one son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Lisa, Center; eight grandchildren; four brothers, Harold, Emil, Paul and Adrian; and five sisters, Edna Schmidt, Lena Olson, Lorraine Schneider, Evelyn Orr and Marion Stickney.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Leland; and one sister, Erma. (Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen)

Frank Basting
GRAND FORKS -- Frank Basting, 77, Grand Forks, died April 8, 1998, in a Grand Forks hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Grand Forks. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, at Gregory J. Norman Funeral Chapel, Grand Forks, where a prayer service will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday evening.

Frank Basting was born on Aug. 18, 1920, the son of Kasper and Susanna (Wilhelm) Basting in Mott, where he attended rural school.

His family moved to Beulah, in 1928 where they farmed 18 miles southeast of town.

He served in the U.S. Army from Aug. 10, 1942, to Jan. 10, 1946, in the Asiatic Pacific Theater attaining the rank of corporal.

After his discharge in 1946, he worked in Mandan and later moved to Glen Ullin. He was a self-employed electrician operating Basting Electric Co. until 1967.

He then worked for the Glen Harold Coal Mine, while living in Hazen, until his retirement as an electrician in 1975. He then moved to Grand Forks in 1977, where he operated Howard's Pizza until 1989.

He married Helen M. Mosbrucker on June 24, 1944, in Center. She died on July 12, 1997.

He is survived by three daughters and one son-in-law, Susan Edyvean and her friend, Dennis DiJulio, Seattle, and Julie Boehler, and Carol and Kenny Fitterer, all of Lewistown, Mont.; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Francis and Karen, and Andrew, all of Grand Forks; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Katie Thomas, Oregon City, Ore.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen; four sisters, Elisabeth, Catherine, Mary and Betty; three brothers, Frank, Emerich and Tony; five stepsisters, Magdalena, Eva, Catherina, Theresia, and Marianna; two stepbrothers, Joe and John; and one granddaughter, Marci Boehler. Richard Vandenburg
LARK -- Richard Vandenburg, 75, Lark, died April 8, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be 10:30 a.m. MDT Saturday at Bethel Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Carson, with the Rev. Ed Huntington officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Lark.

Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. MDT today at Hertz Brothers Funeral Home, New Leipzig, and for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Pallbearers for the service will be Richard's brothers and brothers-in-law, Gerrit, Robert, Arlow, Henry, Melvin, Eldon Droog, and Franklin Nieuwarna. Honorary pallbearers will be his 21 nieces and nephews.

Richard was born on Sept. 1, 1922, in Lake Wilson, Minn., to Henry and Elizabeth Vandenburg. He attended a country school near Lark and high school in Raleigh.

Richard worked for the CCC for a few years after his schooling. He served as a rural mail carrier for several years and continued to enjoy farming on the family farm.

He served for many years as an elder in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church and taught adult Sunday School.

He is survived by five brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerrit and Barb, Carson, Robert and Ruth, Palm Springs, Calif., Arlow and Allene, Hull, Henry and Pat, Jonesboro, Ind.; and Melvin and Barb, Billings, Mont.; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Ella and Frankline Nieuwarna, Modesto, Calif., Darlene and Eldon Droog, Pollock, S.D., and Ione and Dennis Huber, Irvine, Calif.; and one sister-in-law, JoAnn Vandenburg, Carson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, William; and two nieces, Debra Vandenburg and Denise Huber.

The family prefers memorials to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers. (Hertz Brothers Funeral Home, New Leipzig)

Floyd Ulmer
Floyd E. "Curly" Ulmer, 65, Yakima, Wash., formerly of Glen Ullin and Bismarck, died April 7, 1998, in a Yakima hospital. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan.

Floyd was born on Dec. 9, 1932, in Glen Ullin, the son of Emanuel and Martha (Heinle) Ulmer. He was raised and educated in North Dakota. Following graduation from high school, he entered the U.S. Navy and served in the Korean Conflict.

After his discharge from the military, he returned to North Dakota. On May 22, 1955, he married Rose Marie Kostelecky, in Bismarck.

In 1962 they moved to the Yakima area, where he worked for Burtner Furniture until his retirement.

He enjoyed playing pinochle, and he will be missed by all of his friends. He was a member of William Wharton Post No. 379, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion Moxee Post No. 162 and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie No. 289 of Yakima.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie; one son Bruce A., Yakima; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Mel Light, and Pam and Gilbert King, all of Yakima; four grandchildren, Kristal, Kayla and Kelsy Light and Corey King; his father and stepmother, Emanuel and Helen Ulmer, New Salem, his brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Joyce Ulmer, Bismarck, and his sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Bob Miller, Mandan.

Donald Cole
LISBON -- Donald D. Cole, 70, Lisbon, died April 9, 1998, in the Lisbon hospital. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lisbon. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon.

He is survived by his wife, Lorna; two sons, Steve and Jerry, both of Lisbon; two daughters, Linda Davis and Pam Hanson, both of Bismarck; two brothers, Duane and Bob, both of Lisbon; and three sisters, Marion Johnson, Kirkland, Wash., Joan Peterson, Milnor, and Lois Anderson, Missoula, Mont. Virginia Stebbins
BOWMAN -- Virginia Ann Stebbins, 70, Bowman, died April 8, 1998, in a Bowman nursing home. Services will be 10 a.m. MDT Saturday at First Lutheran Church, Rhame. Burial will be in Tuttle Cemetery, Rhame.

She is survived by three sons, Skip, Jamestown, Bill, Helena, Mont., and Kelly, Minneapolis; three daughters, Cassie Voegele, Glen Ullin, Vicki Cellmar, Sturgis, S.D., and Kim Martini, Sidney, Mont.; and one sister, Bertha Jones, Bowman. (Krebsbach Funeral Service, Bowman)

Rick Suckut Jr.
BOWDON -- Rick Suckut Jr., 20, died April 8, 1998, in Breckenridge, Minn. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Bowdon School Gymnasium. Further arrangements are pending with Nelson Funeral Home, Fessenden.

Ellis Milton
BEULAH -- Ellis Milton, 92, Beulah, died April 8, 1998, in Beulah. Arrangements are pending with Spangelo Funeral Home, Glen Ullin.

Otto John Ohlhauser
LINTON -- Otto John Ohlhauser, 72, Linton, died April 11, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10-30 a.m. Tuesday at Peace Lutheran Church, Linton, with the Rev. Fred Henkelmann officiating. Burial will be in Linton Cemetery, with military rites by Linton American Legion Post No. 54.

Visitation will be noon-9 p.m. today at Myers Funeral Home, Linton, and will continue from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday. Visitation also will be held at the church one hour before services.

Otto was born Jan. 3, 1926, at Linton, the son of John J. and Katherina (Schnaible) Ohlhauser. He attended rural school. On Nov. 15, 1944, he entered the U.S. Army. He served in the African-Middle Eastern Theater during World War II. He was discharged Aug. 17, 1946, and returned to Linton to farm. He married Irene Schatz on May 9, 1948, at Peace Lutheran Church, Linton. They lived in Linton for a few months, where he worked at an auto repair shop. They then moved to a farm west of Linton. In 1996 they moved into Linton and he worked for his son at Keith's Auto Repair for about five years. He enjoyed playing musical instruments, especially the accordian. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and their German Choir. He was also a former 4-H leader.

He is survived by his wife, Irene; one son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Jan, Linton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Dwight Hinkel, Bismarck, and Shena and Tim Cunningham, Mandan; four grandchildren, Ryan and Craig Ohlhauser, and Breanna and Brittany Hinkel; one brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Evie, Bloomington, Minn.; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Lavina Iverson, Savage, Minn., and Eileen and Werner Tiede, Lodi, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Wilber and Harlin; and one sister, Yvonne.

The family prefers memorials to Peace Lutheran Church Elevator Fund.

Louie Heidt
Louie J. Heidt, 59, of South Heart, died of heart failure April 10, 1998. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Tuesday at the Hillside Baptist Church in Dickinson. (Price-Murphy Funeral Home.)
