Albert M. Lang, 87, Tacoma, Wash., died May 26, 1997, in a Puyallup, Wash. hospital. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. MDT Saturday at Beulah Senior Citizens Club.

He is survived by two sisters, Bertha Renke, Beulah, and Olivia Shields, Seattle; and three brothers, Dick, Beulah, Emil, Tacoma, Wash., and Harry, Las Vegas.

Walter Banek
WISHEK -- Walter G. Banek, 87, Wishek, died June 24, 1997, in the Wishek hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at United Church of Christ, Wishek, with burial in United Methodist Cemetery, McLaughlin, S.D.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha; three sons, Merlyn, Fairport, N.Y., Duane, Spring, Texas, and Dean, Sioux Falls, S.D.; one daughter, Dona Banek Bradley, Bellefonte, Pa.; and three sisters, Lema Wolfer, Tacoma, Wash., Lea Patrick, Prescott, Ariz., and Leota Mickelson, McLaughlin. Mary Peterson
POLLOCK, S.D. -- Mary M. Peterson, 53, Pollock, died June 23, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pollock Memorial Presbyterian Church, with burial in Spring Valley Cemetery, Pollock.

She is survived by her husband, Donald; three sons, Nicholas, Daniel and Douglas, all of Pollock; one daughter, Tori Madden, Mound City; her parents, Ted and Margaret Vander Vorste, Pollock; and two sisters, Teddie Vander Vorste, Keystone, and Sandra Middleton, Heron. (Myers Funeral Home, Linton)

Edna Mae Krueger
FESSENDEN -- Edna Mae Krueger, 81, Fessenden, died June 24, 1997, in her home. Services will be at 10-30 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Nazarene, Fessenden, with burial in Hillside Cemetery, Fessenden.

She is survived by four daughters, Marlene Nelson, Olympia, Wash., Karen Proefrock, Fairfax, Va., Bonnie Bina, Monument, Colo., and Renee Hove, Fessenden; three sons, Gerald, Kansas City, Mo., Gordon, Benbrook, Texas, and Larry, Manfred; three sisters, LaVerne Arndt, Palisade, Wash., Esther Danielson, Mentor, Minn., and Margaret Kuske, Carrington; and three brothers, Donald Gross, Sheyenne, Kenneth Gross, Alexandria, Minn., and Wesley Gross, Fessenden. Delmar Brokaw
WILLISTON -- Delmar Brokaw, 80, Williston, died June 25, 1997, in his home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Faith United Methodist Church, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, both Williston.

Edward Kluver Sr.
BEACH -- Edward Kluver Sr., 57, Worland, Wyo., formerly of Beach, died June 17, 1997, in a Billings, Mont. hospital. Services were held June 20 at St. Alban's Episcopal Church, Worland, with burial in Carnarvon Cemetery, rural Carnarvon, Iowa.

He is survived by three sons, Ed Jr., Berthoud, Colo., Christopher, Denver, and Matthew, Worland; two daughters, Gretchen Trail, Wheat Ridge, Colo., and Erica Brown, Highlands Ranch, Colo.; his mother, Margaret C. Fay Charlesworth
Fay W. Charlesworth, 78, Bismarck, died Jan. 11, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services were held Jan. 13, 1997, in Bismarck. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1326 of Bismarck.

Aaron J. Stark, 86, 1050 N. 28th St., died June 25, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending at Eastgate Funeral Service.

Henry Krieger
KILLDEER -- Henry Krieger, 86, Killdeer, died June 24, 1997, in the Killdeer nursing home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. MDT Saturday at Normana Lutheran Church, Dunn Center, with burial in Dunn Center.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; two daughters, Geraldine Frank, New England, and Linda Klee, Halliday; three sisters, Mary Krieger, Killdeer, Bertha Mead and Martha Sword, both of Dunn Center; and two brothers, Robert, Killdeer, and Ed, White Earth. (Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson)

BALDWIN -- Tricia Harkness, 44, Baldwin, died June 25, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan.

Joann Stolt
MAX -- Joann Stolt, 61, Max, died June 24, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Max, with burial in Norfolk Cemetery, Drake.

She is survived by her husband, Max; three daughters, Cindy Krueger, Max, Donna Kastner, Douglas, and Edith Beskoon, Boise, Idaho; one son, Leroy, Minot; and four sisters, Emma Finneman, Minot, Tresa Driessen, Butte, Maggie Harvey, Kalispell, Mont., and Barbara Driessen, Velva. Louis Pine
Dr. Louis F. Pine, 78, Devils Lake, died June 23, 1997, in a Fargo hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Devils Lake, with the Revs. Jeffrey L. Wald and James Cheney officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Devils Lake, with military rites provided by Neathery-Simensen Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 756, Devils Lake.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, where a vigil service will begin at 7:30 tonight. Visitation will continue from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Dr. Louis F. Pine was born Aug. 15, 1918, at Burlington, Vt., the son of Frederick and Rose Elizabeth Roberge Pine. He was raised and educated in Burlington. He obtained his bachelor of science degree from the University of Vermont in 1941 and his medical degree from College of Medicine, the University of Vermont in 1943. He did his internship at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, Conn., in 1944. Louis was united in marriage to Anita E. DuGuay, June 24, 1944, in Worcester, Mass. He joined the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps in 1945 and served in Manila, Philippines, with the 312th General Hospital. He then worked in public health service with the U.S. Army in Korea in 1946. From 1947 to 1948 he completed his urology residency at the Worcester City Hospital, Worcester, Ma. In January 1949, he and Mrs. Pine moved to Devils Lake. He then worked at the Lake Region Clinic for 40 years and also provided surgical services to the communities of Harvey and Bottineau. Anita died Oct. 7, 1992.

Dr. Pine was the secretary-treasurer of North Dakota-Manitoba Urological Society, vice president of the Jaycees and Man of the Year for the Jaycees in 1954. He was also vice president of the park board, and also taught tennis for the park board. He was president of 2nd District Medical Society and Rotary Club and served on the Blue Shield board of directors from 1954 to 1978. Dr. Pine was the district health officer for the Lake Region District Health Unit from 1956 to 1996 and a board member of the Pioneer Players and Chautaugua. He served as the Ramsey County coroner for 20 years. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Elks and Knights of Columbus, all of Devils Lake. He also was vice president of the Lake Region Community College Foundation, served as medical director of Lake Region Lutheran Home and was a member of the U.S. Postal Service advisory council. Dr. Pine was also an active supporter of Devils Lake community arts.

He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Louis II and LaVerne, Arlington, Texas, Lawrence Pine and Candace Middleton, Jamestown, and Stephen and Carla, Mandan; three daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and David Garaas, Fargo, Claudia and Mark Floan, Lexington, Ky., and Carolyn and Galen Erb, Amenia; 13 grandchildren; and one sister and brother-in-law, Carmen and John Tessier, Peru, N.Y.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anita, and his parents.

Clayton Werner
Clayton James Werner, 54, Phoenix, formerly of Bismarck, died Oct. 11, 1996, in Valley City. Services will be at 10-30 a.m. Tuesady at Bismarck Funeral Home, with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today at the funeral home and will continue one hour before services.

Clayton was born Dec. 31, 1941, in McClusky to Marvin and Frances (Murray) Werner. He grew up in the McClusky area. On Feb. 14, 1964, he married Karen Brown in Bismarck. They had one daughter, Tana.

Clayton worked as an ironworker for more than 30 years and was a member of Ironworkers Local No. 793. He especially enjoyed the time he spent working in Antarctica in 1988. Clayton and Karen moved from Bismarck to Shoreview, Minn. in 1986, and to Phoenix in 1989. He lived in Phoenix at the time of his death. Each spring he returned to North Dakota to work for the summer months.

Clayton was an avid sprint car racing fan. He enjoyed attending racing events and working on cars. He took great pride in caring for his cars. He was a member of Moose and Elks.

He is survived by his wife, Karen; one daughter and son-in-law, Tana and Douglas Erbs, Breckinridge, Minn.; one granddaughter, Emmy, Breckinridge; his mother, Frances Dosch, Bismarck; and two sisters, Shirley and Neil Pedersen, Albany, Ore., and Diane and Bob Klein, Mandan.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin; and one nephew, Gary Klein.

Francis Schwab
RICHARDTON -- Francis "Frank" B. Schwab, 74, Richardton, died Oct. 11, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. MDT Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Richardton, with the Rev. Brian Wangler officiating. Special music will be provided by Sylvia Feller, organist, Sister Michelle Scallon and John Gengler, soloists, and St. Mary's Church Choir. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers are Al Schwab, David Schwab, Jack Schwab, Jim Schwab, Ed Schwab and John Rahn. Honorary bearers are all of Frank's friends.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. today at Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson, and will continue from 4-9 p.m. today at the church. A rosary will be said at 8 p.m. today at the church.

Frank Schwab, son of John and Julia (Heinz) Schwab, was born May 4, 1922, in Stanton. He graduated from Stanton High School and continued his education at Dickinson State College. On July 21, 1948, Frank married Bernice Braun at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Richardton. Frank taught for two years, then served three years in the U.S. Army, one year in the Army Air Corp and two years with the Army Infantry. In July 1951 he started Schwab Oil Co., where he worked until his retirement. Bernice died July 31, 1994. Frank was a member of Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars, all in Richardton, and an honorary member of the Richardton Rural Fire Department. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing.

He is survived by six sons and four daughters-in-law, Dennis, Wilsonville, Ore., Duane and Kathy, Steve and Charlotte, and Bryan, all of Dickinson, Roger and Anna, Richardton, and Allan and Jeanne, Denver; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Rita and Vince DiTomaso and Marjorie Schwab, both of San Diego, Calif., and Joan and Jerry Ternes, Bismarck; 12 grandchildren; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Dot Schwab, Rapid City, S.D., John and Dorris, Hazen, Antone and Bernice, Spokane, Wash., and Henry and Marlene, Mandan; and five sisters and one brother-in-law, Anna Hoffman, Mandan, Barbara Kompish, Billings, Mont., Elenore and Harold Peterson, Seattle, Sister Juliana Schwab, Richardton, and Sister Barbara Ann Schwab, Bismarck.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Julia Schwab; his wife, Bernice; two brothers, Jacob and Michael; and three sisters, Madge Swoboda, Eva Hagel and Helen Scharosch.

Orville Monson
HALLIDAY -- Orville M. Monson, 82, Sartell, Minn., formerly of Halliday, died Oct. 13, 1996, in a Sartell nursing home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Country Manor Chapel, Sartell, with burial in Halliday Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; one son, Dale, St. Cloud, Minn.; one daughter, Donna Nicklous, Bellevue, Neb.; and three sisters, Eileen Monson, Alameda, Calif., Agnes Baker, Burrien, Wash., and Marvel Monson, Dickinson. (Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Sauk Rapids, Minn.)

Adolph Doerr
Adolph Doerr, 72, Medcenter One Care Center, Mandan, died Oct. 12, 1996, in the nursing home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Dakota Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Dick Owens officiating. Inurnment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck.

Adolph "Spike" Doerr was born Sept. 14, 1924, on the family farm near Kief, the son of August and Rosa (Hausauser) Doerr. In 1929 he moved with his family to Irvine and Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, where they lived until 1936. They then returned to the United States and settled on a farm near Skogmo, north of McClusky. He worked on area farms until his parents moved to Bismarck in 1944. He was employed at the G.P. Hotel until it closed, and later the Prince Hotel until he retired from injuries he received in 1980. He lived for a time at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, then spent several years at the Kensington, and recently moved to Medcenter One Care Center in Mandan.

He is survived by four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Theresa Koeller, Bismarck, Lea and Larry Grinde, Buffalo, Minn., Dorothy and Fred Zander, Mandan, and Florence and Marlin Thor, Minot; six brothers and seven sisters-in-law, Mryle Doerr, Jamestown, Reynold and Harriet, Underwood, Emil and Irene, Almer and Marlene, and Melvin and Bernice, all of Bismarck, Roy and Cheryle, Minot, and Harold and Jackie, Glendale, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother-in-law,, Robert Koeller; and one brother, Jake.

Ida Grenz
Ida E. Grenz, 83, 2027 N. Kavaney Drive, Bismarck, died Oct. 13, 1996, in the Mandan hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bismarck Baptist Church. Further arrangements are pending at Boelter Funeral Home.

Calvin Baeder
CARRINGTON -- Calvin R. Baeder, 74, Carrington, died Oct. 11, 1996, in the Carrington hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Carrington, with burial in Carrington Cemetery.

He is survived by one daughter, Sandra Paulus, Wishek; one brother, Don, Seattle; and one sister, Ruth Swanson, Rocklin, Calif. (Evans Funeral Home, Carrington)

Albert Bentz
DICKINSON -- Albert P. Bentz, 81, Dickinson, died Oct. 12, 1996, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. MDT Tuesday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dickinson. Further arrangements are pending at Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson.

Harry Thrailkill
MINOT -- Harry E. Thrailkill, 80, Minot, died Oct. 12, 1996, in a Minot hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot, with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

He is survived by his wife, Sena; two sons, LaMoure, Minot, and Terry, Chandler, Ariz.; and three daughters, Jeanette Marshall, Minot, Beverly Morris, Scottsburg, Ind., and Marilyn Iverson, Chandler, Ariz. (Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot)

James Johnson
NEW ROCKFORD -- James H. Johnson, 73, New Rockford, died Oct. 12, 1996, in his home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at New Rockford Public School gym.

Ann Jorgenson
WATFORD CITY -- Ann Jorgenson, 77, Watford City, died Oct. 12, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church, Watford City. Further arrangements are pending at Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City.
