MINOT -- Lawrence G. Fitzgerald, 57, Minot, died Sept. 5, 1998, at his home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot. Burial will be in Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; two daughters, Kathy Alexander, Dickinson, and Janet Fitzgerald, Modesto, Calif.; one sister, Ilene Bakke, Bagley, Minn.; and three brothers, Ken, Montevideo, Minn., Jerry, Billings, Mont., and Bob, Savage, Mont. (Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot)

Lloyd Berg
VELVA -- Lloyd H. Berg, 68, Velva and formerly of Turtle Lake, died Sept. 8, 1998, in a Minot hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Turtle Lake. Burial will be in Turtle Lake Cemetery.

He is survived by two sons, Terry, Turtle Lake, and Danny, Edgerton, Wis.; one daughter, Luann Sayler, Underwood; two sisters, Helen Smith, Sherwood, and Jean Berland, Velva; and two brothers, Virgil, Minot, and Roger, Bismarck. (Goetz Funeral Home, Turtle Lake)

Marjorie Wehler
JAMESTOWN -- Marjorie Wehler, 68, Jamestown, died Sept. 8, 1998, in a Jamestown hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown.

She is survived by three sons, James, Bismarck, David, Jamestown, and Greg, Glenrock, Wyo.; and one brother, Robert Opp, Jamestown. (Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown)

George Willett
WILLISTON -- George Willett, 93, Williston, died Sept. 8, 1998, in a Williston nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Bethel Lutheran Home, Williston. Burial will be in Round Prairie Cemetery, west of Williston.

He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. (Everson Funeral Home, Williston)

Rose Schmidt
DICKINSON -- Rose Schmidt, 91, Dickinson, died Sept. 9, 1998, in the Dickinson health center. Arrangements are pending with Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson.

Harris Waldera
Harris Waldera, 67, 308 Second Ave. N.E., Mandan, died Sept. 9, 1998, at his home. Services will be 10-30 a.m. Monday at Spirit of Life Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Cyprian Meier officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan, with military rites by Mandan Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 707 and American Legion Post No. 40.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Wiegel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a parish vigil will begin at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

Harris Waldera was born Sept. 23, 1930, in Cayuga, the son of Emil and Gladys (Haring) Waldera. He was raised and educated in Rutland, Marshall, Minn., and Havana. He graduated from Havana High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1948-1952.

After returning to Havana, he was active in local baseball and basketball teams and worked with his father, Emil, on the railroad and in the Waldera Cafe.

On Dec. 31, 1953, he married Elaine Parrow. Together they raised three children, Daniel, Paul and Lori. In 1956 he began a 42-year career in the Soil Conservation Service at Forman in Sargent County, Edgeley in LaMoure County, and Selfridge/Fort Yates in Sioux County. He continued his career in Bismarck from 1976 to the present.

There was nothing that Harris wouldn't do for his children and grandchildren. Together with his wife, Elaine, he was devoted to his son Daniel's activities and Special Olympic events. Harris was also an irreplaceable assistant and adviser to his son, Paul's, many trophy-winning softball teams over the years. He was a great fan at his daughter, son-in-law and grandson's ball games. Time spent with his three grandsons was one of Harris' greatest joys. His presence and dedication will always be greatly missed.

In passing, Harris leaves behind his wife, Elaine; one son, Paul, Mandan; his daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Steve Berger; and his three beloved grandsons, Steve Jr., Timothy and Michael Berger, all of St. Anthony. He also leaves a sister and brother-in-law, Bev and Gordy Phillips, Havana; and his many nieces and nephews.

Harris was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Gladys Waldera; his brothers, Donald and Darryl; and his son, Daniel.

Del Monke
Del Monke, 46, Bismarck, died Sept. 7, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be 10 a.m. MDT Friday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dickinson, with the Rev. Denise Hanson officiating. Special music will be provided by Kimberly Chapman, soloist, with Barb Arneson, organist. Military rites will be provided by the Veterans Drill Team. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Regent.

Visitation will begin one hour before services at the church.

Del Rein Monke was born Sept. 7, 1952, in Dickinson, to the late Rufus and Martha (Igard) Monke. He received his education in Dickinson, graduating from Dickinson High School in 1970. Del was called to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force for two years. He then came back to help with the family business, Lindy Winky Bootery.

He attended Dickinson State University and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in computer science and business administration cum laude in May 1982. Del enjoyed his job, reading, metal detecting and his family.

He was presently employed ANSTEC Inc. of Bismarck as a consultant for the State of North Dakota where he assisted with the Year 2000 conversion effects.

He is survived by his mother, Martha Monke, Dickinson; his step-dad, Elmer Monke, Dickinson; his grandmother, Ella Igard, Dickinson; three step-sisters and step-brothers-in-law, Ramona and Vernon Larson, Mott, Sonja and Tim Schoch, Mandan, and Rita and Jerry Huffman, Centerville, S.D.; three aunts; two uncles; and a few cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rufus; and his grandparents, Henry and Frieda Monke, and John Igard.

Phyllis Ode
Phyllis Eileen Ode, 73, Minot, died Sept. 8, 1998, in a Minot hospital. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, Minot, with burial in Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

She is survived by her husband, Myron; four daughters, Doreen Collatt, Grand Forks, and Margo Murdock, Vicki Pratt and Sherry Clayton, East Moline, Ill.; one son, Michael, East Moline; three sisters, Lois Benson, Lakota, Mavis Seitz, Bismarck, and Shirley Peterson, Spokane, Wash.; and three brothers, Edward Guthmueller, Denver, Louis Guthmueller, Excelsior, Minn., and Gene Guthmueller, St. Paul, Minn. Nick Honch
MAX -- Nick Honch, 88, Max, died Sept. 6, 1998, in the Garrison hospital. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Max, with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.

He is survived by two daughters, Connie Perry, Suisun City, Calif., and Mary Anne Blohm, Bismarck; one son, Dennis, Marquette, Mich.; two brothers, Matt, Minot, and Andrew, Astoria, Ore.; and two sisters, Annie Harms, Velva, and Mary Torstensen, Watford City. (Thomas Funeral Home, Minot)

Frank Glasser Jr.
SOLEN -- Frank Glasser Jr., 77, Auburn, Wash., formerly of Solen, died Sept. 8, 1998. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Auburn, with burial in Gethsemane Cemetery.

He is survived by six children; and seven brothers and sisters. (Price-Helton Funeral Chapel, Auburn)

L. Eveline Green
TOWNER -- L. Eveline Green, 80, Towner, died Sept. 9, 1998, in the Rugby hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, Towner.

Survivors include Sharon Mayer, Bismarck.

Katherine P. Garrison, 84, 1119 University Drive, died Sept. 10, 1998, at her home. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan. Further arrangements are pending.

UNDERWOOD -- Rudolph Landenberger, 82, Underwood, died Sept. 10, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending at Goetz Funeral Home, Underwood.

Ervin Bernhardt
Ervin Bernhardt, 63, Bismarck, died of cancer, Sept. 10, 1998. Arrangements are pending at Bismarck Funeral Home.

Gordon Hoffman
ASHLEY -- Gordon J. Hoffman, 79, Ashley, died Sept. 10, 1998, in his home. Services will be held at 10-30 a.m. Monday at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Ashley, with the Rev. Darwin Kopfmann officiating. Burial will be in Ashley Cemetery, with military graveside rites by Frank Piper American Legion Post. No. 53.

Visitation will be 11 a.m.-5 p.m. today at Carlsen Funeral Home, Ashley, and will continue at the church one hour before services. A prayer service will begin at 5 p.m. today.

Gordon J. Hoffman was born Sept. 17, 1918, to John W. and Mathilda (Kiesz) Hoffman at Bowdle, S.D., This is where he started school. When he was 11 years old, his family moved to a farm near Venturia. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1936 to 1937, and then worked in the coal mines in Montana. He joined the U.S. Army in October 1941 and was assigned to the anti-aircraft weapons defense in New Jersey and Texas. He was honorably discharged in July 1944.

Gordon was married to Emma Fuhrer on June 24, 1943, at Fort Sheridan, Ill. They were engaged in farming in the McIntosh, McPherson and Campbell county areas. In 1967 they moved into Ashley where they had purchased the Coast to Coast Store. They ran the Coast to Coast Store for 14 months, before he switched to custom harvesting, combining from southern Texas to North Dakota. He retired in 1980.

While retired, Gordon enjoyed woodworking and became known as a fine craftsman. He was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, where he was a past church trustee and a life member of American Legion.

He is survived by his wife; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Gregory and Susan, Plymouth, Minn., Daniel and Mallory, Mankato, Minn., and Michael, Bismarck; one daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Gary Feil, Fort Collins, Colo.; his mother, Mathilda Hoffman, Ashley; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Edna Dahlstrom, Hillsboro, Clara and Jake Kost, Ashley, Emma Baumann, Rapid City, S.D., and Gertrude and Ted Gesinger, Aberdeen, S.D.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and one sister.

Honorary casketbearers will be all of his granddaughters, Merritt Dupon, Fort Collins, Colo., Heidi Pautsch, Andover, Minn., Jenny Hoffman, Minneapolis, Jessica Hoffman and Melissa Hoffman, both of Bismarck, and Maggie Johnson, Plymouth, Minn.

Casketbearers will be Regan Feil, Littleton, Colo., Daniel Dupon and Michael Dupon, both of Fort Collins, Brandon Hoffman and Ryan Johnson, both of Plymouth, Minn., Nicholas Hoffman, Mankato, Minn., John Hoffman, Bismarck, and Mike Pautsch, Andover, Minn.

The organist will be Marcie Davis. The soloist is Vera Glur, and there will be a duet by the Rev. George Rueb and Adolph Rueb, accompanied by Laverna Wolf.

Thekla Senger
Thekla Senger, 72, Bismarck, died Sept. 12, 1998. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Church of St. Anne, Bismarck. Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. today and 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday at Eastgate Funeral Service, where a rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Monday. Further arrangements are pending.

Marie Luziak
MCKENZIE -- Marie Luziak, 77, McKenzie, died Sept. 12, 1998, in her home. Arrangements are pending at Eastgate Funeral Service.

Roger Kendall
Roger Kendall, 62, 2110 E. Divide Ave., died Sept, 12, 1998, in his home. Arrangements are pending at Bismarck Funeral Home.

John Ehresmann
DICKINSON -- John Ehresmann Jr., 56, Dickinson, died Sept. 10, 1998, in his home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Dickinson, with burial in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; one daughter, Deb Kinzel, Dickinson; two sons, Mike and Todd, both of Dickinson; his father, John Sr., Dickinson; and two sisters, Bobbi Ehresmann, Remlap, Ala., and Kathy Ward, Fairfax, Va. (Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson)

Dennis Lutz
Dennis R. Lutz, 43, 48 Carlin Drive, Lincoln, died Sept. 11, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Church of the Ascension, Bismarck, with the Rev. Marvin Klemmer officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan.

Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. today at Dakota Memorial Chapel, Bismarck, where a rosary will be said at 7 tonight. Visitation will continue at the church one hour before services.

Dennis Robert Lutz was born March 24, 1955, at Richardton, a son of Robert and Hilda (Jesch) Lutz. He was raised and educated in Mott, graduating from high school in 1973. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1974, where he served at the Minot Air Force Base as a security policeman. He was discharged in 1977, and moved to Bismarck, where he went to work at Melroe. In 1980, he moved to Dickinson, where he worked for Arrow Specialty Inc. Dennis married Arlene Friedt at St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Mott, on Sept. 27, 1980. In 1984, they moved to Bismarck where Dennis attended Bismarck Junior College. He later went to work for the U.S. Marshal's Service as a court security officer at the Federal Building in downtown Bismarck.

He was a member of the Planning and Zoning Committee for the city of Lincoln and enjoyed hunting. One of Dennis' big loves was fishing with his family. He fished with his children, his wife, and his parents, and last year, the "big one" did not get away, as he caught a 19-pound Northern at Lake Sakakawea.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Arlene; his two children, NaTasha Ann and Tyler Robert Lutz; his mother, Hilda Lutz, Mott; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dale and Sue Lutz, Fisher, Minn., and Dean and Rebecca Lutz, Dickinson; his father and mother-in-law, Alex M. and Leona Friedt, Mott; and many nieces and nephews.
