Doris R. Lyons
Funeral services for Doris R. Lyons, 81, Lisbon, N.D., were held on Tuesday, October 17, 2000, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Lisbon, N.D. Father C.F. Wilhelm officiated. Mrs. Lyons died Saturday, October 14, 2000, at her home in Lisbon, N.D.
Doris R. Lyons, daughter of Lewis A. and Laura (Nohr) Froenke was born on July 10, 1919 in rural Lisbon, N.D. She attended elementary school in Sheldon, N.D., and graduated from Sheldon High School.
On November 29, 1941, she married William Lyons in Lisbon, N.D. They farmed near Lisbon.
He died June 27, 1961. In October, 1968 Doris moved to Lisbon. She was a member of Circle Three of St. Aloysius Catholic Church. She had been a member of the Neighborly Homemakers Club and the Chub Club. She was also a member of the Sheyenne Valley Eagles Auxiliary #2968. She served many years at the Lisbon School elections, and was a member of Lisbon’s Teen Canteen Board..
She is survived by six sons; Warren (Carmen), Lisbon, James (JoAnne), Lisbon, Frank (Connie, Lisbon, Dennis (Holly), Langdon, Lewis (Donna), Enderlin, Leo (Barb), Lisbon; three daughters, Laura (John) Suter, Killdeer, LuJean (Warren) Nohr, Vergas, Minn., Rebecca, Denver, Colo.; 21 grandchildren; 11 great-grand children; two sisters, Audrey Schmidt, Lisbon and Arlane (Floyd) Dahl, Minnetonka, Minn.; a brother, Argil (Holly) Froemke, Lisbon; and a sister-in-law Laura Froemke. She was preceded in death by her husband, a granddaughter, Michelle Lyons and a brother, Milton.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Bill Suter, Bill Lyons, Darrin Lyons, Jeff Lyons, Jared Nohr, Jordan Lyons, Andy Lyons and Trevor Lyons.
Music was provided by organist Carol McCann and soloist-cantor Allen Remily.
Interment at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery, Lisbon, N.D.
Armstrong Funeral Home, Lisbon, N.D. was in charge of arrangements.

Beulah Miller
Funeral services for Beulah Miller, 84, Binford, N.D., were held on Saturday, October 14, 2000, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Binford, N.D. Reverend Lynn Kinneberg officiated. Mrs. Miller died Wednesday, October 11, 2000, at Towner County Memorial Hospital, Cando, N.D.
Beulah Miller, daughter of Sever and Hattie(Jacobson) Moen was born on July 29, 1916, near Aneta, N.D. She grew up and attended school in the rural Aneta area.
On April 9, 1936, she married Arthur W. Miller at Cooperstown, N.D. They lived and farmed near Aneta and Cooperstown before purchasing a farm at Binford in 1945. In 1958 the moved to a farm at Red Willow lake where she cooked at the Red Willow Resort and Red Willow Bible Camp for 30 years. She was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church, Binford, N.D.
She is survived by one daughter; Dianne (Darell) Evanson, Lisbon, N.D.; one son, Dennis (Veronica) Miller, Starkweather, N.D.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one brother. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers (Stanley and Gordon Moen).
Pallbearers for the funeral were Faye Miller, Jennifer Miller, Donita Burchill, Danaka Kracht, Linda Honeyman, Dustin Evanson, Allison Miller and Jarred Miller. Honorary Pallbearers were Dylan Janzen, Kaleb Kracht and Ethan Kracht.
Music was provided by organist Richard Pederson and special music was provided by Richard Pederson and Darell Evanson.
Interment at the Willow Cemetery, rural Binford, N.D.
Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home, McVille, N.D., was in charge of arrangements.

Josephine Patterson
Funeral services for Josephine Patterson, 78, St. Francis Home, Breckenridge, Minn., were held on Monday, October 16, 2000, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Moorhead, Minn. Pastor Dan Forsberg officiated. Mrs. Patterson died Thursday, October 12, 2000, at Breckenridge, Minn.
Josephine Patterson, daughter of Eli and Louise (Erstad) Smerdahl was born on August 2, 1922, in Lisbon, N.D. She attended Lisbon High School and then attended Dakota Business College, Fargo. She then went on to become the manager of the Western Union office where she worked for 30 years.
On February 25, 1949, she married Virgil Lee Patterson, in Fargo, N.D. They resided in Fargo. Following her retirement in 1971, the couple lived at Detroit Lakes, Minn. until 1976, when they moved to West Fargo, N.D. Pat preceded her in death on October 8, 1986. She continued living in West Fargo until becoming a resident of St. Francis Home in Breckenridge in August, 1994. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary in West Fargo, N.D.
She is survived by her family; Gale (Polly) Patterson, Richfield, Minn, Bonnie (Roger) Christensen, Breckenridge, Minn. and Timothy (Debi) Patterson, Moorhead, Minn.; nine grandchildren; and three sisters, Helen Miller, Lisbon, N.D., Marion Lyman, West Fargo, N.D., and Dorothy Riddle, Tecumseh, Mich. She was preceded in death by her husband,Pat; her parents; and two infant granddaughters.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Jesse Christensen, Kyle Christensen, Josh Patterson, Chris Patterson, Casey Patterson and Chad Patterson. Honorary Pallbearers were Andrea Christensen, Emily Patterson and Elizabeth Patterson.
Music was provided by organist Mary Maynard and soloist Melissa Quam.
Interment at Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, N.D.

Leonard L. Thorstad
Funeral services for Leonard L. Thorstad, 93, Lisbon, N.D., were held on Saturday, October 14, 2000, at the Price Funeral Chapel, Forman, N.D. Reverend N. Craig Werling officiated. Mr. Thorstad died Monday, October 9, 2000, at the Lisbon Medical Center, Lisbon, N.D.
Leonard L. Thorstad, son of Ole and Mary (Foss) Thorstad was born on September 13, 1907, in Morris, Minn. He attended rural school near there. After receiving his education, he helped his father on the family farm for a number of years. He served in the C.C.C. during the depression years, before entering the U.S. Army. He served in the military during WWII until November of 1943. At that time he took a job at the Garrison Dam Project near Underwood, N.D. Poor health necessitated an early retirement. On February 14, 1964, he married Alma (Kraig) Wellman, in Dwight, N.D. They spent the next several years traveling, and lived in various places but always returned to their home in Morris, Minn. They spent many of their winters in Arizona. They traveled to Europe and to Texas. Leonard became a resident of the North Dakota Veterans Home in Lisbon in 1995, and has lived there ever since that time. Alma died in March of 1998.
He is survived by two step-sons; Albert (Elsie) Wellman, Rapid City, S.D., Cecil (Valerie) Wellman, San Antonio, Tex.; two step-daughters, Audrey Bremmon, Prescott, Ariz., and Betty Ann (Herbert) Tillapaugh, Wickenburg, Ariz.; fourteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, eight sisters and three brothers.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Arlie Phillips, Lawrence Larson, DuWayne Dill, Wallace Stein, Gary Thornberg and Charles Anderson.
Interment at the Havana Cemetery.
Price Funeral Chapel, Inc., Britton, S.D., was in charge of arrangements.

Gertrude Mary Bennett
Funeral services for Gertrude Mary Bennett, 88, Milnor, were held Tuesday, February 6, 2001 at United Methodist Church, Milnor, with Rev. Jack Erickson officiating. Mrs. Bennett died Friday, February 2, 2001 at Sargent Manor, Forman.
Gertrude Mary Sebens, daughter of Harm and Ann (Moran) Sebens, was born October 2, 1912 in Ivesdale, Ill. She moved with her family to the Milnor area at age 3, where she grew up and attended rural school.
She married Floyd Bennett on January 10, 1935 in Webster, S.D. They moved to Idaho, where they lived until 1951. Gertie and Floyd then returned to the Milnor area, where they farmed until their retirement. They moved into Milnor in 1974. Floyd died in January of 1977. Gertie worked at Sargent County Green Thumb from 1977 until 1990.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Milnor. She loved to play Bingo, cards, read and visit with family and friends.
She is survived by one son, Butch (Betty) Bennett, Palmdale, Calif; three daughters, Sharon Thomas, Milnor, Val (Gene) Tetrault, Donna, Tex., and Elizabeth (Norman) Ulness, Fargo; one sister, Mary Lunneborg, Milnor; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, one grandson, one sister and three brothers.
Pallbearers were Mark Carlson, Jim Carlson, Norman Ulness, Tom Petterson, Brian Tayer and Keith Johnson.
Music provided by organist Eileen Lotzer and soloist Bob Schutt.
Interment at Lakeside Cemetery, Milnor
Dahlstrom Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Edna Bruns Crabtree
Funeral services for Edna Crabtree, 88, Ellendale, were held on Saturday, February 3, 2001 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Ellendale. Reverend Ellen Arthur officiated. Mrs. Crabtree died on Tuesday, January 30, 2001 at the Oakes Community Hospital.
Edna Bruns was born on October 1, 1912 near Barnard, S.D. to Olin and Ella (Schroeder) Bruns. She grew up and attended school, graduating from Barnard High School. After graduating from college, she moved to Ellendale where she taught at the public school.
She was united in marriage to Donald Crabtree in 1939. Edna later worked as an officer at the First National Bank in Ellendale. Donald died in 1962. In the mid-1990’s, she moved into the assisted living quarters in Oakes and three years ago moved into the Oakes Good Samaritan Center.
She is survived by one son, Ben (Susan) Crabtree, Minneapolis, Minn.; one daughter, Susan Ayala, Verona; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her parents; and one brother, Orlen.
Lois Mueller was the organist for the service.
Interment at Ellendale City Cemetery.
Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Oakes, was in charge of arrangements.
