Emma Tabbert
BEULAH -- Emma Tabbert, 84, Beulah, died Jan. 8, 1999, at Knife River Care Center, Beulah. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. MST Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Beulah. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Survivors include Marilyn Engbrecht and her husband Ray, Golden Valley, Diane Alveshere and her husband Marvin and Betty Wolf and her husband Rick, all of Bismarck, and Carllotta Sailer and her husband Randy, Beulah.

Irene Adolf
HAZEN -- Irene C. Adolf, 70, Hazen, died May 10, 1999, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Hazen. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Friday, at Peace Lutheran Church, Hazen, with the Revs. Duane Hanson and Walt Wolff officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, north of Hazen.

Serving as pallbearers will be Austin Boehler, Zach Boehler, Andrew Krenz, Randy Isaak, Danny Knell and Tim Mattheis.

Visitation hours will be from 2-8 p.m. MDT Thursday, at Peace Lutheran Church, Hazen.

Irene was born April 11, 1929, at Bismarck, a daughter of Emil and Emilia (Geist) Mattheis. She was raised and educated northwest of Hazen. On June 13, 1948, she married Clarence Adolf at Peace Lutheran Church, Hazen. They lived on the family farm 13 miles north of Hazen. Clarence died on Sept. 7, 1991. Irene worked at the Hazen Laundromat, Highway Express and Speidel's. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Hazen, and served on many committees. Irene was also a member of the Hazen Lioness Club, was active in the Lutheran Brotherhood Branch and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed making quilts, crocheting and was very generous with her handiwork. Irene loved to garden.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Candace and Jim Krenz, rural Hazen, and Nicki and Warren Boehler, Mohall; four grandchildren, Krystal Krenz, Dickinson, Andrew Krenz, Rochester, Zachary and Austin Boehler, both of Mohall; three brothers, Oswald and Clara Mattheis, Hazen, Albin Mattheis, Auburn, Wash., Richard and Janet Mattheis, Tucson, Ariz.; three sisters, Pauline Spier, Federal Way, Wash., Ida Oster, Bellevue, Wash., and Tillie Goetz, Bismarck; two sisters-in-law, Ida and Arnold Knell, Hazen, and Violet and Armond Isaak, Hazen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence; and two sisters, Frieda Oster and Hulda Nauroth. (Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen)

Ida Seefeld
HARVEY -- Ida Seefeld, 90, Harvey, died May 10, 1999, in the Harvey hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Selz. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She is survived by three sons, Francis, rural Martin, Arnold Jr. and Leon, both of rural Harvey; two daughters, Rita Weippert, Fargo, and Delilah Volk, Mapleton; three brothers, Henry Mertz, McClusky, Robert Mertz, Bismarck, and Walter Mertz, Minot; and three sisters, Anne Strobel, Denhoff, Elizabeth Mehrer, Bismarck, and Hilda Wutzke, Verndale, Minn. Bertha Knoll
WISHEK -- Bertha Knoll, 89, Wishek, and formerly of Venturia, died May 8, 1999, in the Wishek nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at Zion Lutheran Church, Ashley. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She is survived by one daughter, Connie Hammill, Tacoma, Wash.; four sisters, Lydia Knoll and Katie Golz, both of Ashley, Martha Ketterling, Wishek, and Frieda Deyle, Laurel, Mont.; and one brother, Edwin Sayler, Lehr. (Carlsen Funeral Home, Ashley)

Alvina Feickert
HARVEY -- Alvina Feickert, 91, Harvey, died May 10, 1999, in a Bismarck care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at First Lutheran Church, Harvey. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey.

She is survived by three daughters, Marlene Limes, Casper, Wyo., Clara Hoffman, St. Louis, Mo., and Carol DesLauriers, Eagen, Minn.; one brother, George Nagel, Kerrville, Texas; and one sister, Emma Landenberger, Tuttle. (Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey)

Baby Girl Kittelson
HARVEY -- Baby Girl Kittelson, the daughter of Marty and Kim Kittelson, Harvey, was stillborn on May 10, 1999, in the Harvey hospital. Private services will be held today at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey.

She is survived by her parents; one sister, Krystle, at home; her grandparents, Marvin Kittelson, and Bob and Evie Nelson, all of Harvey; and her great-grandmother, Esther Dockter, Harvey. (Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey)

Daniel Klein
HAZEN -- Daniel Klein, 18, Hazen, died May 10, 1999, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Friday, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Hazen. Further arrangements are pending with Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen.

Ervin and Bernice Adolf
HAZEN -- Ervin Adolf, 77, and Bernice Adolf, 71, Hazen, died May 10, 1999, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Saturday, at Peace Lutheran Church, Hazen. Further arrangements are pending with Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen.

Irene Brenno
HAZEN -- Irene Brenno, 73, Hazen, died May 10, 1999 of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MDT Friday, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Stanton. Further arrangements are pending with Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn.

Leonard O'Neill
WILLISTON -- Leonard O'Neill, 79, Williston, died May 9, 1999, in the Williston hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Williston. Further arrangements are pending with Everson Funeral Home, Williston.

Martha Haider
Martha M. Haider, 91, Mobridge, S.D., died May 11, 1999, in a Mobridge care center. Arrangements are pending with Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan.

Leata Rivinius
ELGIN -- Leata E. Rivinius, 87, Elgin, died May 10, 1999, in the Elgin hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MDT Thursday, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elgin, with the Rev. Paul Baker from Bethesda United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Hope Congregational Cemetery, Elgin.

Visitation will be from 1-7 p.m. MDT today at Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Elgin, and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. A family service will be held at 7 p.m. MDT tonight at the funeral home. A memorial has been established.

Special music for the service will be provided by Alma Mueller, organist and Paula Rivinius, soloist. Serving as casketbearers will be Mark and Guy Dobitz, Todd, Ryan and Josh Rivinius, and Tom Bruha. Serving as honorary bearers are LaRae and Jay Rivinius, Tracy Bruha, Kathy Haynes and Kandi Trace.

Leata Kamrath Rivinius was born Aug. 13, 1911, south of Belfield in Gaylor to Howard and Iva (Chapman) Molm. She attended Belfield schools and graduated from Dickinson State Normal School, now Dickinson State University, in 1929, and received her teaching credentials in 1931. She taught school in Leith and then moved to Dickinson where she worked in the credit department at Montgomery Ward and then was manager of Weisser Loan Company.

Leata married Albert L. Rivinius on July 3, 1960, and moved to Elgin. She was active in the Rebekah Lodge, the Lions Club, and the Methodist Church. She and Albert spent the last 23 winters in Mesa, Ariz. Leata always wrote lots of letters because she liked to receive mail. She was always ready with a joke or some little tidbit. Leata knew many people throughout the state and could easily fit into any situation -- from rodeo to political functions. She was a gracious lady and hostess, always thinking of others first. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and had such a great love for her family. She fought a brave fight against cancer and never complained.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Albert; her daughter, Claudia (Joe) Dobitz, Bakersfield, Calif.; three sons, Ron (Ruby) Rivinius, Sun Lakes, Ariz., Larry (Dennise) Rivinius, Rapid City, S.D., and Doug (Joleen) Rivinius, Elgin; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Chester, Ralph and Herbert; and her grandson, Jay Dobitz.

Rose Wolf
BEULAH -- Rose Wolf, 77, Beulah, died May 10, 1999, in the Beulah care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Thursday, at Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah, with the Rev. Doreen Jeffers officiating. Burial will follow in the Beulah City Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Troy Flath, Howard Flath, Ken "Joey" Wolf, Dana Rathjen, Darin Rathjen and Donovan Rathjen.

Visitation hours will be from 2-8 p.m. MDT today, at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah.

Rose was born Nov. 20, 1921, at Beulah, a daughter of Henry and Christina (Schoppert) Bauer. She was raised and educated north of Beulah. On Jan. 31, 1940, she married Mike Wolf. Mike was a coal miner, and Rose was busy raising the family. Mike died on April 23, 1980. Rose lived in Bismarck for about seven years. On Dec. 26, 1996, she became a resident of the Knife River Care Center, Beulah. She loved children, gardening, playing cards and other games, bingo and visiting. Weeds were not safe with Grandma Rosie around.

She is survived by her children, Neal Wolf, Glendive, Mont., Sheila and Harold Flath, Bismarck, Laurel and Myron Rathjen, Hazen, Maynard and Jolene Wolf, Bismarck, Cary and Peggy Wolf, Hazen, Dave and Lynne Wolf, Beulah, Gayann and Rick Anthony, Princeton, Maine, Dawn York, Phoenix, Ariz., and Michelle Wolf, Phoenix; her daughter-in-law, Judy Wolf, Beulah; 22 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Mike; an infant daughter, Shirley; and two sons, Mike Wolf Jr., who was killed in Vietnam, and Kenny Wolf. (Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah)

Bernadine Iron Shield Four
PORCUPINE -- Bernadine "Ceci" Iron Shield Four, 43, Porcupine, died May 10, 1999, at her home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at St. James Catholic Church, Porcupine, with the Rev. Casimir Paluck officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

A wake begins at 7 p.m. Friday, followed by a rosary at 8 p.m., at the Porcupine Community Hall.

Bernadine was born Jan. 17, 1956, at Fort Yates, to Soloman Iron Shield and Melda Red Fox. She was raised in Porcupine and educated at a Mormon School in Idaho. She lived in Nebraska and Kansas for a few years and returned to Fort Yates in 1977. She married Eugene Four II. Bernadine worked for a time as a cook for the Head Start Program.

She is survived by her former husband, Eugene, Fort Yates; three daughters, Yuray Iron Shield and husband, Wayne Oster, Selfridge, Jennifer Four, Fort Yates, Daisy Iron Shield, Selfridge; two sons, Eugene Four III and Merle Four, both of Porcupine; one sister, Sylvia Lewis, New Mexico; one brother, Ronald Iron Shield, Porcupine; four grandchildren, Austin Oster, Skyelee Iron Shield, Wambdi Ska Four, Sean Four and a special friend, Victor "Bun" Chapman.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Alvin and Merle. (Perry Funeral Home, Mandan)

Margaret Jennings
Margaret K. Jennings, 79, Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, died May 11, 1999, at the care center. Services will be held at noon Saturday, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, and a vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday evening, all at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan.

Margaret was born Nov. 8, 1919, at Wilton, and graduated from Wilton High School. She worked for the First National Bank in Bismarck as a teller for many years. She married Wayne Jennings in Miami, Fla., and they lived in Coral Gables and Miami. She moved to Bismarck in 1982.

Margaret traveled extensively and was a member of VFW Auxiliary, Disabled Veterans Auxiliary, Elks Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and the Good Neighbor Club.

She is survived by two stepdaughters, Laurie Parham, Miami, Fla., and Carol Walter, Minnetonka, Minn.; her Godchild, Mary Ann Murschel, Bismarck; and a very close friend, Rosemary Sieracki.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Cenia Kronick; and her husband, Wayne Jennings.

The family prefers memorials to St. Alexius Hospice. (Perry Funeral Home, Mandan)

Dorothy Schnabel
ASHLEY -- Dorothy Schnabel, 93, Ashley, died Oct. 3, 1999, in the Ashley nursing home. Services will be held 10-30 a.m. Wednesday at Ashley Baptist Church. Burial will be in Ashley City Cemetery.

She is survived by one daughter, Audrey Finseth, Goleta, Calif.; one son, Roger, Long Lake, S.D.; five grandchildren, seven stepgrandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; 23 step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and 12 step-great-great-grandchildren. (Carlsen Funeral Home, Ashley)

Ella Martel
WILTON -- Ella Martel, 87, Wilton, died Oct. 3, 1999, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, Wilton. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

She is survived by one son, Larry, Wilton; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. (Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn)

Albert Geist
Albert H. Geist, 88, Driscoll, passed away and went to be with the Lord on Oct. 2, 1999. Albert had been a resident of the Mandan Medcenter One Care Center for the last 10 days. Services will be held at 11 a.m. today, at Grace Lutheran Church, Driscoll, with the Rev. Jim Cissell officiating. Burial will be in Grace Lutheran Cemetery, Driscoll.

Albert was born on Jan. 18, 1911, in Herrick, S.D., the son of Jake and Caroline (Walters) Geist. As a boy, he spent his first years at Herrick, later moving to North Dakota in 1919. He spent his school years growing up in the Tappen-Dawson area. When Albert was 23 years old, he married Nellie Wollschlaeger of Dawson on Jan. 5, 1934, in Bismarck. They lived in the Dawson area for a time until moving to Driscoll and later to a farm that they purchased in 1945.

Albert and Nellie raised and cared for their children, Beverly, Richard, and two adopted sons, Roger and Butch. They also cared for close to 90 foster children from 1950-1992. In 1970, Albert quit farming and was employed by the Sterling Farmers Union, as its bulk driver, until 1982, when he retired. Albert lost his wife of 58 years on March 18, 1992, but continued to live on his farm until Sept. 22, 1999, when he entered the Mandan Care Center, after a brief stay at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck.

Albert will be missed deeply by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other family members and special friends.

Albert leaves one daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Floyd Aichele, Bismarck; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Virginia Geist, Driscoll, and Roger and Elizabeth Geist, Cedar, Minn. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harold, Portland, Ore., and Ervin, Gladstone, Ore.; and one sister, Esther Basler, McHenry, Ill.

Albert was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; three sisters; one son and one daughter; and one great-grandson.

Albert will be missed by all that he touched in his life. (Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck)
