JAMESTOWN -- Gideon Schauer, 80, Jamestown, died Aug. 16, 2000, in a Jamestown care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Jamestown, with burial in Friedens Cemetery, west of Streeter. She is survived by five sons, Wells, West Fargo, Jerry, Oelwein, Iowa, Alan, Carrington, George, Carrington, and James, Anoka, Minn.; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Betty Schoen, Carrington, Imogene Schmidt, Aberdeen, S.D., Susan Daley, Minot, and Ella Gatewood, California. MANDAREE -- Collin Lee Cummings, 12, Mandaree, died Aug. 18, 2000 of injuries sustained in an automobile accident east of Mandaree. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Mandaree Community Center, with burial in Independence Congregational Cemetery. He is survived by his parents, Darrell and JoAnn Cummings, Mandaree; two brothers, Bruce, Mandaree, and Jason, Belcourt; three sisters, Kelly Ann Dakota, Belcourt, Sommer Cummings, New Town, and Robin Standish, Mandaree; and his grandparents, Norma Smith, New Town, and Leo and Joyce Standish, Mandaree. William David Davis
William David Davis, 34, formerly of Mandan and Beulah, died Aug. 19, 2000 of injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Ellsworth, Wis. Arrangements are pending with Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan.

DICKINSON -- Chris M. Erdman, 19, Dickinson, died Aug. 19, 2000 of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Wednesday, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Dickinson. Further arrangements are pending with Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson.

Otilla Freier
Otilla Freier, 87, Bismarck, died Aug. 19, 2000 in a local nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at First United Methodist Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Kermit Culver officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Napoleon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Service, and Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Eastgate Funeral Service. Otilla (Wentz) Freier was born Sept. 19, 1912 the daughter of Peter and Louise (Essig) Wentz at Streeterr. She attended a rural Logan County School. She married Jacob Freier on March 28, 1931. To this union nine children were born. They farmed in Logan County until 1974, when they retired and moved to Napoleon. Otilla was employed as a baker at Wentz Cafe in Napoleon for 10 years. Following Jacob's death in 1984, she moved to Bismarck and resided with her daughter, Betty, until entering a local nursing home in October of 1997. Otilla was a member of the Welcome Homemakers Club and church circles in Streeter and Napoleon. She enjoyed baking wedding cakes, gardening and family gatherings. She is survived by five sons and three daughters and their spouses, Frances and Wallace Perman, Betty Freier, Larry Freier and special friend, Coreen, Tom and Melinda Freier, all of Bismarck, Eugene and Joyce Freier, Medina, Glen and Esther Perman, Streeter, Terry and Sara Freier, Detroit Lakes, Minn., and Lonnie and Sandy Freier, Napoleon; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Milton and Tillie Wentz; and one sister, Verna Dewald, Gackle. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son; four sisters and four brothers.

Evelyn Hickle
Evelyn Hickle, 85, Bismarck and formerly of Center, died Aug. 17, 2000, at her home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mandan United Methodist Church, 610 12th St. N.W., with the Rev. Mark Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan. There will be no viewing at the church. Evelyn was born on June 28, 1915, at Pelican Rapids, Minn., the daughter of Louis Harold and Edith (Richards) Hannaford. As a child, she moved with her family to Bismarck and graduated from Bismarck High School. She married William T. Hickle on July 2, 1939, at Pelican Rapids. They farmed east of Center for 60 years until moving to Edgewood Vista in Bismarck in October of last year. Evelyn is survived by her husband, William; her four sons, William H., Inyokern, Calif., Donald C., Houston, Gordon L. and his wife, Susan, Montrose, Colo., and Arthur J. and his wife, Laura, Ridgecrest, Calif.; four grandchildren, Jason, Colin and Adrienne Hickle and Mary Williams and her husband, Raymond; four great-grandchildren, Nichole, Evelyn, Emily and Tyler Williams; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Jean and Orin Bell, Manhattan, Kan., and Louise Wheatley, Seaside, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Lucille Fernandes; two brothers, Vern Hannaford and Louis Hannaford Jr.; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Hickle. Norma Marie Jorgensen
Norma Marie Jorgensen, 75, Bismarck, passed away from this life on Aug. 18, 2000 at a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with burial in North Dakota Veterans' Cemetery, rural Mandan. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Tuesday, at Eastgate Funeral Service, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, at Eastgate Funeral Service. Norma was born on June 29, 1925 in Epping, the daughter of Ole and Aase Holem. Norma loved traveling with her husband, and also loved flowers, cooking and dogs. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Arthur Peter Jorgensen, Bismarck; two daughters, Arlene Jorgensen Hillestad and her spouse, Jay Hillestad, and Linda R. Millican and her spouse, Maurice D. Millican; three grandchildren, James Peter Millican, Ann Marie Millican, and Holly Sophia Millican; one sister, Ruth Larsen, Williston; and many nieces and nephews, and numerous friends. Norma was preceded in death by two brothers, Oscar Holem and Joseph Holem. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and will be greatly missed.

ALAMO -- Clara Mattson, 92, formerly of Alamo, died Aug. 20, 2000 in a Billings, Mont. care center. Arrangements are pending with Everson Funeral Home, Williston.

Roy J. Meyer
LEEDS -- Roy J. Meyer, 73, Leeds, died Aug. 20, 2000 in a Rugby hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Leeds, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by one daughter, Linda Lysne, Rugby; three grandchildren; one brother, Bernard, York; and three sisters, Mabel Fitzpatrick, Devils Lake, Albena Erickson and Irene Risovi, both of Hamberg. CARRINGTON -- Carol L. Voss, 41, Aurora, Colo., and formerly of Carrington, died Aug. 18, 2000 in an Englewood, Colo. hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Grace Lutheran Church, Carrington, with burial in Carrington Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Dan; her parents, Clarence and Lorraine Schroeder, Carrington; and two sisters, Mary Swanson, New Rockford, and Linda Hauge, Williston. Melva M. Weber
JAMESTOWN -- Melva M. Weber, 93, Jamestown, died Aug. 18, 2000 at her home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. today, at Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, with the Rev. Bryce Tahran officiating. Burial will be in Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown. Melva Mable Hastings was born January 22, 1907 the daughter of Sayles and Almurtie (Ford) Hastings in the house her father built north of Cleveland. They lived north Cleveland, where she attended rural schools. Melva married Raymond J. Weber on December 8, 1930 in Jamestown. They made their home in Jamestown where her home has been since. Raymond died November 4, 1974. Melva enjoyed gardening, knitting, quilting, walking, and dancing. She is survived by daughter, Beverly (Ervin) Ennis, Jamestown; daughter, Dolores (Robert) Gausvik, Bismarck; son, Merlyn (Generva) Weber, Forsythe, Mont.; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Donald (Mildred) Hastings, Jamestown; brother, Wilson Hastings, Jamestown; and brother, Basil Hastings, Spokane, Wash. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, and one sister. (Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown)

Urban Wehri
GLEN ULLIN -- Urban Wehri, 83, Glen Ullin, died Aug. 20, 2000, in Glen Ullin. Services will be at 10 a.m. MDT Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glen Ullin, with the Rev. Sebastian Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in St. Clement's Cemetery, rural Glen Ullin. Visitation will begin after 4 p.m. MDT today at Sacred Heart Church in Glen Ullin and is ongoing until the time of the service. A vigil service and rosary will be said at 7 p.m. MDT Tuesday at the church. Urban was born on May 7, 1917, in Haymarsh, the son of William F. and Marcellena (Potts) Wehri. Urban was raised and educated in the Haymarsh area and educated at the St. Clement School. He worked on the family farm until he entered the U.S. Army on Dec. 14, 1942. While in the service, he served in the European, African and Middle Eastern theatres. Following his discharge on Dec. 17, 1945, he returned to the area and began farming. He married Eleanor Schirado on Oct. 23, 1946, at St. Benedict. They purchased the Paul Mulhauser farm, which he and Eleanor operated for 50 years until they retired and moved into Glen Ullin. He was a U.S. Army Corporal from Dec. 14, 1942, to Dec. 17, 1945. Urban was a member of the Knights of Columbus (Fourth Degree), American Legion and VFW. He also was a former Eagles and Moose member. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor, Glen Ullin; three brothers, Cletus, Glen Ullin, Armin, Hebron, and Waldo, Hebron; four sisters, Angie Duppong, Glen Ullin, Alma Tavis, Glen Ullin, Bernice Wehri, Hebron, and Marcie Frueh, Glasgow, Mont.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Arnold, Ves and Harry. (Spangelo Funeral Home, Glen Ullin)

Marvin Billy Aune
Marvin Billy Aune, 80, Nampa, Idaho, died July 28, 2000, in a Boise, Idaho, hospital. Arrangements are pending at Persons Funeral Chapel, Nampa.

Carl Ehrlich
NEW SALEM -- Carl Ehrlich, 92, New Salem, died July 30, 2000, in the New Salem care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Friday at Zion Lutheran Church, New Salem, with the Rev. Loren Strum officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, New Salem. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, New Salem, and will continue at the church one hour before services. Carl was born May 12, 1908, in Oliver County, the son of Richard and Emelia (Helbig) Ehrlich. He married Hulda Bauer on Dec. 26, 1935, in the Lutheran Church at Otter Creek. They farmed 10 miles north of Sweet Briar Dam until 1973 when they moved into New Salem. Carl is survived by his wife, Hulda; one daughter, Linda Pruitt, and her husband, Doyle, Missoula, Mont.; two sons, Ronald and his wife, Linda, Jamestown, and Dale, Bismarck; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Erna Schuldt, Emery, S.D. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and one brother.

Margaret Engstrom
MADDOCK -- Margaret Engstrom, 92, Maddock, died Aug. 1, 2000, in the Devils Lake hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. William's Catholic Church, Maddock. Further arrangements are pending at Nelson Funeral Home, Maddock.

Nora Erickson
WILLISTON -- Nora Erickson, 93, Williston, died July 30, 2000, in the Williston hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church, Williston, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, Williston. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Yockim, Williston; and two granddaughters. (Everson Funeral Home, Williston)

Joanne Erickson
PAGE -- Joanne (Baker) Erickson died of cancer, July 31, 2000, in her home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Page. She is survived by her husband, Ole; four sons, Ernest, Joel and Gary, all of Page, David, Portland, N.D., and Hans, Gardner; three daughters, Vicky, Page, Judy Workin, Galesburg, and Karen Walton, Dickinson; and several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
