She is survived by her husband, Herman; one son, Duane, Livermore, Calif.; three daughters, Marilyn Friesen, Winkler, Manitoba, Canada, Geraldine Friesen, Santa Barbara, Calif., and Sandra Heinrichs, Harvey; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Ella Harrison, Danville, Calif., Violet Huber, Portland, Ore., LaVaughn Fleming, Arlington, Va., and Gladys Putz and Dolly Reimche, both of Harvey. Thelma M. Zubrod
MORRISTOWN, S.D. -- Thelma M. Zubrod, 87, Watertown, Wis., died Oct. 2, 2000, in the Watertown hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Morristown, with burial in Morristown Cemetery. She is survived by one son, Roger Roehl, Midland, Mich.; two daughters, Rosemary Bilitz, Lake Mills, Wis., and Judy Calhoon, Lincoln, Neb.; two stepdaughters, Carol Werner, Carson, N.D., and Sharon Leintz, Raleigh, N.D.; 22 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. Albert Beck
BEULAH -- Albert Beck, 93, Beulah, formerly of Zap, died Oct. 4, 2000, at the Beulah care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Saturday, at Beulah Congregational Church, with the Rev. John Fanella officiating. Burial will be in Peace Congregational Cemetery, Zap. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. MDT today, at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah. Albert Beck was born May 1, 1907 at Zap, the son of Johann and Elizabeth (Doffee) Beck. They settled northeast of Zap where he was raised and attended school. On Jan. 24, 1931, he married Evelyn Boehler at Beulah. They lived near and in Zap most of their lives, moving to Beulah in 1993. Evelyn died April 29, 1994. Albert was a longtime member of Peace Congregational Church of Zap and the United Mine Works of America. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Donald Bauer, Omaha, Neb.; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Gerald, Zap, Larry and Nancy, Beulah, and Clayton and Mary, Denver; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Pauline Gubbe, Olympia, Wash.; and one sister-in-law, Adelia Beck, Hamet, Calif. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; one son, Delmer; six sisters; and three brothers.

Mendie F. Benson
MADDOCK -- Mendie F. Benson, 85, rural Maddock, died Oct. 3, 2000 at his farm. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at North Viking Lutheran Church, Maddock. Burial will be in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Vera; one son, Rodger, Maddock; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Effie Swanson, Maddock, Ruth Nesset, Prescott, Ariz., and Dagney Knowlton, Mankato, Minn. Nettie Campbell
GARRISON -- Nettie Campbell, 83, Garrison, formerly of Wilton, died Oct. 4, 2000, in Garrison. Services will be held at 2 p.m. today, at Sunne Lutheran Church, rural Wilton. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Wilton. She is survived by two sisters, Myrtle Campbell, Lakota, and Clara White, Garrison; and one brother, Arthur Campbell, Wilton. Arvalene T. Christ
WIMBLEDON -- Arvalene T. Christ, 62, Wimbledon, died Oct. 4, 2000 in a Jamestown nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Jamestown. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown. She is survived by her husband, Richard; three sons, Wayne, Scott and Brent, all of Wimbledon; two daughters, Lori Houge, Jamestown, and Dina Christ, Rolla; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Sylvia Iden, West Point, Neb., Ila Jean Burns, Hammond, Ind., and Agnella Loewe, Fremont, Neb.; and one brother, Aaron Brockemeier, West Point, Neb. Victoria Feist
STERLING -- Victoria Feist, 68, Sterling, died Oct. 4, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. George Dukart officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan. Visitation will be held at the church one hour before services. Victoria Feist was born on June 10, 1932, south of Napoleon, the daughter of Joseph and Margaret (Voller) Bitz. Victoria was raised and educated in Burnstad. She married George Feist of Burnstad in Napoleon, on July 2, 1951. Victoria enjoyed reading, gardening, canning, and spending time with, and caring for her family. She is survived by her husband, George; five sons and three daughters-in-law, George Jr. and Geraldine, Gerard and Julie, and Gary and Glenn, all of Sterling, and Gregory Feist and Linda Gumke, Steele; six daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and David Bender, Thorton, Colo., Rita and Darrell Bertsch, McClusky, Mary and Clint Renken, and Teresa and Randall Kuntz, all of Mandan, Alice and Brian Geloff, Apple Valley, and Victoria and Jeff Barth, Driscoll; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Adam and Marlys Bitz, Lisbon, Joe and Marilyn Bitz, and John and Sally Bitz, all of Bismarck, Al and Mabel Bitz, Fort Rice, and Mickey Nehl, Rosemond, Calif.; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Isabelle Schmidt, Wishek, and Alvina and Clifford Kluth, Rosemond, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Leo and Joey Bitz; and two sisters, Rose Feist and Margaret Nehl.

H. Raymond Frank
MINOT -- H. Raymond Frank Jr., 83, Minot, died Oct. 3, 2000, in a Minot medical center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot. Burial will be in Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot. He is survived by his wife, Marguerite; one daughter, Mary Burnham, Junction City, Kan.; two sons, James, Fargo, and Paul, Bismarck; nine grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Geddes, Junction City, Ore., and Dorothy Callahan, Glasgow, Mont. WATFORD CITY -- Arnold Gravos, 88, Watford City, died Oct. 4, 2000. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at Wilmington Lutheran Church, Arnegard. Further arrangements are pending with Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City.

Russell D. Haak
Russell D. Haak, 47, Pollock, S.D., died Oct. 4, 2000, in the Linton hospital of cancer. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Pollock Memorial Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Spring Valley Cemetery, Pollock. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; three sons, Jason, Grand Forks, and Darel and Dennis, both of Pollock; one daughter, Rebecca, Pollock; his father, Albertus, Pollock; four brothers, Harlan, Mandan, James, Herreid, S.D., and Renold and Thomas, both of Pollock; and five sisters, Elaine Ryckman, Pollock, Angeline Howard, Mandan, Louise Bitz, Stirum, Alvina Fischer, Eureka, S.D., and Noreen Dykema, Lisbon. ALEXANDER -- Frederick K. James, 75, Alexander, died Oct. 3, 2000, at the ranch near Alexander. Services will be held at 11 a.m. today, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Alexander. Burial will be in Alexander Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; three daughters, Kathy James, Medora, Sherri Tracy, Des Moines, Iowa, and Bonnie Guenther, Williston; one son, Kit James, Alexander; 10 grandchildren; four sisters, Jeannette Bottke, Watford City, Clarice Hansen, Kenmare, Ethyl Aasen, Alexander, and Lois Costello, Phoenix, Ariz.; and one brother, Roland, Phoenix. Antoinette LaFromboise
NEW TOWN -- Antoinette LaFromboise, 52, New Town, died Oct. 3, 2000, in a Fargo hospital after a long illness. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at 4 Bears Community Center, New Town. Burial will be in Congregational Memorial Cemetery, south of Parshall. She is survived by one son, Ralph Jr., Moorhead, Minn.; two daughters, Tuesday Conover, California, and Wendy LaFromboise, Dunseith; eight grandchildren; four sisters, Beverly Martell, Bismarck, Ernestine Mountain and Roxanne Grinnell, both of New Town, and Sonja Peltier, Plaza; and four brothers, Gordon and Rocky Fox, both of New Town, Leland Fox, Rapid City, S.D., and Ferlon Fox, Moorhead. Elma C. Lockert
LEMMON, S.D. -- Elma C. Lockert, 84, Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Lemmon, died Aug. 27, 2000 in Mesa. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Tuesday, at Calvary Lutheran Church, Lemmon. A private family burial will be held prior to the services. She is survived by one daughter, Helen Heath, Mesa, Ariz.; one son, Bernard, Lubbock, Texas; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. (Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Lemmon)

Mildred Mae Pederson
Mildred Mae (Knuth) Pederson died Sept. 7, 2000, at Orofino, Idaho, after a long battle with cancer. A memorial service was held at Ascension Lutheran Church in Orofino. Mildred was born May 10, 1933 at Zap Strip Mine, to Henry and Ruby (Starke) Knuth. She graduated from Zap High School. She married Harlan Giese in 1950 and to this union there were born three children. While living in Bismarck Mildred was employed as a secretary at Faith Lutheran Church and at Northridge and Highland Acres elementary schools. She was very active in her church and at schools where her children attended. In 1981 she married Earl Pederson at Bismarck. They then moved to Mesa, Ariz., where they lived until Earl's death in 1997. At that time Mildred moved to Orofino, Idaho, to be closer to her children and grandchildren. While living in Orofino she was actively involved at Ascension Lutheran Church, The Adult Learning Center, Meals on Wheels program and was employed parttime at the Clearwater Memorial Library. Her hobbies included reading, playing cards, volunteering and her grandchildren. She was loved by many and will be missed by everyone who knew her. She is survived by her children, Patrice Giese, Grand Forks, Lance and Carolyn Giese, and Mary and Joe Johnston, all of Kendrick, Idaho; her grandchildren, Logan Giese, Serena and Amanda Giese, and Adam and Justin Johnston; three sisters, Alma Potratz, Zap, Evelyn Wisner, Ridgefield, Conn., and Lois Klaus, Bismarck; one brother, George Thaler, Chippewa Falls, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; her parents; two brothers; and one sister.

GOLDEN VALLEY -- Harley Rohde, 74, Golden Valley, died Oct. 4, 2000, in a Beulah care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Monday, at Seibel Funeral Home Chapel, Beulah. Further arrangements are pending.

Hazel E. Summers
JAMESTOWN -- Hazel E. Summers, 74, Jamestown, died Oct. 3, 2000 in a Jamestown hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at First United Methodist Church, Jamestown. Burial will be in Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown. She is survived by her husband, William; three sons, Kent Olson, Modesto, Calif., Scott Summers, Jamestown, and Steven Summers, Fargo; three daughters, Susan Janke, Wheaton, Minn., Shannon Olson, Mandan, and Shari Summers, Fargo; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Helen Pomplun, Roslyn, Ga., Edith Samuelson, Hayward, Minn., and Fran Erickson, Casselton; and one brother, George Velde, Starbuck, Minn. George E. Walton
CARRINGTON -- George E. Walton, 85, Carrington, died Oct. 5, 2000, in the New Rockford nursing home. No services will be held. Burial will be in Carrington Cemetery. He is survived by one sister, Mildred Weir, Denver. (Evans Funeral Home, Carrington)

Marilyn A. Bride
Marilyn A. Bride, 69, died June 20, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Church of St. Mary, Bismarck, with the Rev. Charlie Heidt officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Service, where a rosary will be held at 7 tonight. Marilyn Kraft was born July 29, 1930, in Mandan, the daughter of Michael and Barbara (Schaaf) Kraft. She was raised and educated in Mandan, graduating from Mandan High School in 1948. After graduation she worked for Montana Dakota Utilities in Mandan. On June 2, 1949, she married Kenneth Bride at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Following her marriage, she worked for the highway department for a short time until she retired to raise her family. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars. She loved playing cards, listening to music, dancing, and was devoted to saying her rosary every night. She enjoyed watching softball and especially loved watching her sons play. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Joseph, Washburn, and Keith and Debbie, Bismarck; one daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Steve Knutson, Burnsville, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Florence and Pete Stumpf, Larimore, Lucille Duell, Bismarck, and Jean Kraft, Mandan; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters, Elizabeth, Frances and Katherine.

Orrin C. Busch
Orrin C. Busch, 84, formerly of Underwood, died June 20, 2000, in a Sioux Falls, S.D. hospital. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at United Methodist Church, Hendricks, Minn. Further arrangements are pending at Birk Funeral Home, Canby, Minn.

PARSHALL -- Carl Carlson, 82, Parshall, died June 20, 2000, in the Parshall nursing home.
