Neil R. Zoller
Neil R. Zoller, 78, San Fernando, Calif., died Aug. 19, 2000, in a Mission Hills, Calif. hospital. Neil was born March 25, 1922, the son of Ludwig and Elizabeth (Weber) Zoller. He graduated from Temvik High School in 1941. Neil attended a technical school in Wichita, Kan. In 1942 Neil joined the U.S. Navy serving in the South Pacific. He married Margaret Schoeppe on April 12, 1947, in Sacramento, Calif. He was a devoted and loving father of his seven children. His survivors are Sharon and her husband, Peter, Ringleb, Patricia and her husband, Astro, Santos, Jerome and his wife, Laurie Zoller, Carol Zoller, Diane and her husband, Chris Sousa, Steven and his wife, Kari, Zoller, and James Zoller; nine grandchildren; one brother, Herb Zoller, Linton; three sisters, Norma Frank, Las Vegas, Bernice Kruckenberg and Sandra Nelson, Mandan. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret in 1993; and his son, Thomas, in 1970. Services were held Aug. 25, 2000, at San Fernando Mission Chapel, officiated by Father Kerry Beaulieu, a member of Neil's former Boy Scout Troop. Casketbearers were his sons, Jerome, Steven and James; his daughter, Carol; sons-in-law, Peter and Chris; his grandson, Todd; and his caregiver, Santiago. Burial was in San Fernando Mission Cemetery, Mission Hills.

George Dewalt
George Dewalt, 86, Bismarck, died Sept. 15, 2000 in a Bismarck care center. Arrangements are pending with Bismarck Funeral Home.

James Frenzel
DICKINSON -- James "Jim" Frenzel, 56, Dickinson, died Sept. 9, 2000 as a result of an accidental drowning. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. MDT Wednesday, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson. Burial will be at 3 p.m. CDT Wednesday, at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; one son, Lanie Frenzel, Denver, Colo.; two daughters, Lori Ann Lefor, Terecula, Calif., and Sarah Frenzel, Dickinson; two stepdaughters, Mandy Learn and Amy Learn, both of Dickinson; five grandchildren; his mother, Ottillia "Tillie" Frenzel, Dickinson; five sisters, Judy Ficek, Linda Keller, Gayle Kadrmas and Debra Stockert, all of Dickinson, Jane Howser, Tacoma, Wash., and Ellen Mastel, Jamestown; three brothers, Dennis and David Frenzel, both of New Hradec, and Donald Frenzel, Dickinson. Rachel Gebhardt
OAKES -- Rachel Gebhardt, 83, Oakes, died Sept. 14, 2000 in an Oakes care center. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Monango, with burial in the church cemetery. She is survived by two sons, Gerhardt, Edgeley, and Darwin, Oakes; two grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Fred Bollinger, San Pedro, Calif.; and two sisters, Leah Ernst, Edgeley, and Florence Bollinger, Ellendale. Karen Hendrickson
WILLISTON -- Karen (Bercier) Hendrickson, 35, Williston, died Sept. 14, 2000 in Stanley of complications from multiple sclerosis. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Williston, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, Williston. She is survived by her children, Cody and Rachel Hendrickson and Jared McDaniel, all of Williston; her mother, Ilene, Williston; two sisters, Kelly Bauch, Benedict, and Michelle Kueffler, Williston; one brother, Kevin, Williston. Isabelle H. Krueger
Isabelle H. Krueger, 74, Mandan, died Sept. 15, 2000 in a Mandan care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, with the Rev. Joseph Schumacher officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home and will continue Monday morning until the time of services. Isabelle was born on Feb. 11, 1926 in Mandan, the daughter of Matthias and Mary (Gratz) Boehm. A life long resident of Mandan, she graduated from Mandan High School in 1945 and married William Krueger on May 4, 1957. She is survived by her sister and brothers-in-law, Collette and Larry Hoppman, Casper, Wyo., and Leo Snider, Mandan; and her brother and sister-in-law, Delmar and Mert Boehm, Minneapolis. She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1991 and two sisters, Kathleen Boehm and Audrey Snider. (Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan)

WILLISTON -- Carl Melland, 104, Williston, died Sept. 14, 2000 in the Williston nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, at Bethel Lutheran Home, Williston, with burial in Hillside Memory Gardens. He is survived by his children, Kenneth, Williston, Ruth Jacobson, Bellingham, Wash., Dorland, Mesa, Ariz., Betty Zimmerman, Minot, Gary, San Luis Obispo, Calif.; 29 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren and 35 great-great-grandchildren. DICKINSON -- Rollis "Rollie" Nelson, 44, Dickinson, died Sept. 14, 2000 in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. MDT Monday, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Dickinson. Burial will be in Rainy Butte Lutheran Cemetery, south of New England. He is survived by his mother, Rosella Nelson, Dickinson; one brother, Larry Nelson, Glendive, Mont., and two sisters, La Rae Piotrowsky, Dickinson, and Zona Davis, Dickinson. Arthur L. Okerlund
JAMESTOWN -- Arthur L. Okerlund, 87, Jamestown died Sept. 15, 2000 in a Jamestown care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Concordia Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. He is survived by his wife, Edna; four children, Leon, Jamestown, Cheryl Zimmerman, Dallas, Texas, Dick, Bismarck, and Tim, Dickinson; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one sister Pearl Larson, Springfield, Ore.; and one brother, Robert, Danville, Ill. Edna Oukrop
KILLDEER -- Edna Oukrop, 90, Killdeer, died Sept. 13, 2000 in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Wednesday, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Killdeer, with burial in Dunn Center Cemetery. She is survived by two sons, Ray, Austin, Texas, and Bryan, Muncie, Ind.; two daughters, Judy Deal, Beaverton, Ore., and Mary Pietsch, Arnold, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Alec Petryszak
BEULAH -- Alec Petryszak, 74, Beulah, died Sept. 15, 2000 in the Beulah care center. Services will be held 10 a.m. MDT Tuesday, at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church, burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, rural Belfield. He is survived by special friend, Ella Binder, Beulah; two sons, Raymond and Eugene, both of Poteau, Okla.; four daughters, Lillian Hamilton, Sheridan, Wyo., Katherine Price and Betty Bechham, both of Poteau, Linda Cole, Parks, Ark.; one sister, Kathryn Malkowski, Fairfield, and one brother, Bill Petrasaek, Watford City, and many grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. HARVEY -- Theodore Richter, 91, Harvey, formerly of Goodrich, died July 16, 2000 in a Harvey nursing home. Arrangements are pending with Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.

Lester V. Selby
Lester V. Selby, 67, Tampa, Fla. and formerly of Bismarck, died July 2, 2000. Lester was a native of Bismarck and a 1951 graduate of Bismarck High School, he moved to Tampa in 1968. He was a communications supervisor in the Air Force, a switchboard manager for James A. Haley Veterans Hospital, member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; two sons, Randall and Douglas, both of Tampa; two daughters, Brenda Karpacs, Omaha, Neb., and Rena, Tampa; a brother, Francis, Hawaii, and a sister, Hazel Hill, Arizona, and a grandchild.

Shirley Fay Street
DICKINSON -- Shirley Fay Street, 60, Dickinson, died Sept. 15, 2000 in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. MDT Tuesday, at Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson. Further arrangements are pending.

Harold Venstad
BELFIELD -- Harold Venstad, 54, rural Belfield ,died Sept. 15, 2000 at his home of cancer. Services will be held at 9 a.m. MDT Monday, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Belfield. Burial will be held at 3 p.m. CDT Monday, at North Dakota Veterans' Cemetery, Mandan. He is survived by his wife, Eunice; one son, Shawn, Belfield; three daughters, Jeanne Praus, Dickinson, Melinda Tuhy, Williston, and Joani Venstad, Dickinson; eight grandchildren; one brother, Melvin Venstad, Velva; and three sisters, Shirley Kramer, Jefferson City, Mo., Marlys Larson, Fargo, and Mary Jane Schuchard, Fargo. Alfred Wacker
Alfred Wacker, 88, Bismarck, died Sept. 13, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at United Church of Christ, Bismarck, with the Rev. James Moos officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown. Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. today at Bismarck Funeral Home. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church. Alfred was born Nov. 10, 1911, the son of Carl and Sophia (Kusler) Wacker on a farm near Artas, S.D. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Maida Bauer on Feb. 24, 1947. He worked for Northern Improvement until his retirement in 1977. Alfred loved to fish and work in his garden. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Maida; one son, Stuart Wacker, Bismarck; and one sister, Emma Berreth, Las Vegas. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Larry; six brothers; and two sisters. (Bismarck Funeral Home)

Thelma Wood
Thelma "Sally" Wood, 48, Ludlow, Ky., died Sept. 12, 2000, at Ludlow. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Veterans Memorial Building, Cannon Ball, with the Rev. Norman Bluecoat officiating. Burial will be in Congregational Cemetery, Cannon Ball. A family prayer service begins at 6 p.m. today at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, and will continue after 9 a.m. Monday at the Veterans Memorial Building. Sally was born Sept. 11, 1952, at Fort Yates, to Frank and Nora (Two Shields) Lincoln. She was raised and educated in Cannon Ball. Sally enjoyed life and was always ready to share a laugh. She especially enjoyed visiting with her daughter and sons and took special pride in her grandchildren, particularly sharing the same birthday as her twin granddaughters. She always finished her conversation with her children by saying "I love you as high as the sky and as deep as the ocean." This was Sally's way of expressing her love for her family. She was deeply loved by her sisters and brothers and will be greatly missed. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Leila and Arron Walker, Phoenix; two sons, Joseph Red Tomahawk, Troy, Ohio, and Lawrence Holtz, Fort Thomas, Ky.; three sisters, Evelyn Chaske, Fort Totten, Linda Lincoln, Grand Forks, and Cody Lincoln, Mandan; one brother, Quinten, Lincoln, Ill.; four grandchildren, Forest Tabeek, Caleb, Caylee and Ciarra Walker; many cousins, uncles and aunts. Sally was preceded in death by her parents. (Perry Funeral Home, Mandan)

Wesley Johnson
KINTYRE -- Wesley Johnson, 85, Kintyre, died Sept. 16, 2000 in a Bismarck care center. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Kintyre, with the Rev. Gary Connors-Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Napoleon City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. today and Tuesday from 9 a.m.-noon at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Napoleon, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Wesley was born March 31, 1915 at Hancock, Mich., the son of Emil K. and Annie (Harma) Johnson. In 1920, Wesley moved with his family by train to North Dakota, and lived on a farm one mile northwest of St. Boniface Catholic Church at rural Kintyre. In October of 1924, the family purchased the Urvig farm four miles south and six miles west of Napoleon, where they lived and farmed. Wesley received his elementary education in rural Logan Country Schools. Following his education, he continued to live and farm with his family. Wesley was married to Arvada Merkel on Nov. 7, 1954, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck. Following their marriage, they returned to the family homestead farm and built a new home in 1956, where they currently reside. Wesley farmed in partnership with his brother Clarence on the Kaaton farm one miles northwest of the Johnson family homestead. Wesley later farmed with his son Kevin until he retired in 1991. Wesley attended Trinity Lutheran Church at Kintyre. He belonged to the local bowling league for many years, he was a member of the Napoleon Wildlife Club, Tellwood Farmers Union and the Napoleon Trapshoot League. Wesley spent his free time playing the guitar with Carol and Kevin, playing the mandolin, harmonica, and fiddle, and the one-man band instrument that he built. His hobbies included painting wildlife and scenery pictures, and spending time outdoors hunting with his son, Kevin. Wesley enjoyed visiting with family and friends over a cup of coffee. He will be missed by his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he loved to play and spent time with. He is survived by his wife, Arvada; a daughter, Carol (Allen) Baumgartner, Napoleon; a son Kevin (Cindy) Johnson, Bismarck; six grandchildren, Jason, Lisa, Corey and Ryan Baumgartner, and Brandon and Blake Johnson; three brothers, Clarence (Evelyn) Johnson, and John K. (Edna) Johnson, both of Kintyre, and Clifford (Ellen) Johnson, Napoleon; two sisters, Beulah (Marvin) Pickens, Fredericksburg, Texas, and June (Jim) Nash, Houston, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Einard; and three sisters, Gladys, Alice and Sylvia. (Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Napoleon)
