GARRISON -- Marvin Bauch, 71, Garrison, died Sept. 27, 2000, at his home after a lingering illness. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Garrison. Burial will be in Garrison Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Connie; one daughter, Patricia Westling, Del Rio, Texas; two sons, David, Garrison, and Roger, Fargo; three sisters, Doris Fischer, Bismarck, Vicki Parge, Tilgore, Texas, and Terryl Stephens, Longview, Texas; one stepbrother, Tom Sherman, Houston, Texas; and 12 grandchildren. Meta Beth
NEW SALEM -- Meta Beth, 94, New Salem, died Sept. 27, 2000, in the New Salem nursing home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Saturday, at Peace Church, New Salem. Burial will be in Peace Cemetery, New Salem. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. today, at Elm Crest Nursing Home, New Salem, and after noon at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, New Salem. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church. Meta was born Feb. 20, 1906 on the family farm south of New Salem, the daughter of J. Henry and Sophie (Schnittcher) Albrecht. Raised in the area, she married Otto Beth on Nov. 27, 1935 at Buffalo, S.D. They lived on Meta's family farm until they retired and moved to New Salem in 1976. Otto died Jan. 11, 1980. A member of the Peace Church, Meta was originally a member of the Bethel Church south of New Salem. In her early years she often translated meeting minutes and letters from German to English. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters; three brothers; two infant brothers; and an infant sister.

Mary Boehm
McCLUSKY -- Mary Boehm, 86, New Hope, Minn., formerly of McClusky, died Sept. 27, 2000, in a New Hope nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at Holy Family Catholic Church, McClusky. Further arrangements are pending with Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky.

Thomas Friedt
MOTT -- Thomas Friedt, 68, Mott, died Sept. 25, 2000, in a Fort Collins, Colo. hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MDT Saturday, at St. Vincent's Catholic Church, Mott, with the Rev. Kuriakose Nediakala officiating. Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. MDT Monday, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. today at Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Mott, where a rosary and wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Taylor-Skartvedt Mott American Legion Post No. 71 will provide military honors. Thomas Friedt was born June 3, 1932 near Mott, to Rockus and Katherine (Messer) Friedt. Tom attended a rural grade school and graduated from Mott Lincoln High in 1950. He attended Dickinson State Teachers College for one year and then served under active duty in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean War. Tom married Diane Oelke on Dec. 30, 1957 in Mott. He was a former owner of the Pheasant Lounge and was most recently the Hettinger County Clerk of Court and Register of Deeds. He retired from his county appointments in April of 1998. Since then, he was able to spend more time playing cards, fishing and enjoying the outdoors. Tom will be greatly missed by his family and wonderful friends. He is survived by his wife, Diane, Mott; five children and their spouses, Carri Weller, Scott and Ruth Friedt, Lorri and Darrell Jones, Dana and Greg Miller, and Jessica Friedt, all living in Colorado; six grandchildren, Chris and Lindsey Weller, Andy and Seth Friedt, Olivia Jones and Erica Miller; one brother, Leonard, Mott; and one sister, Loretta Baer, Dickinson. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Val. A memorial has been established.

Herbert O. Kisse
TAYLOR -- Herbert O. Kisse, 84, Taylor, died Sept. 26, 2000, in a Bismarck care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MDT Saturday, at Taylor Lutheran Church, the Rev. Dale V. Nabben officiating. Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, at Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church. Herb Kisse was born June 15, 1916, in Halliday, to John and Maria (Hiller) Kisse. He attended school and graduated from Halliday Public School. After graduation he attended the Dakota Business School in Fargo. Herb then began his career in banking at Dunn Center. On Nov. 10, 1940, he married Hulda Allmendinger in Wibaux, Mont. They moved to Taylor where Herb began his 44-year career in banking. Hulda died May 19, 1975. He married Muriel on Oct. 24, 1983. Herb enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and fishing. He was a member of the Independent Bankers Association, Taylor School Board, 50-plus years Charter Monarch of the Taylor Lions Club, Taylor City Council, Volunteer Fireman, Rod and Gun Club, Taylor Lutheran Church and Taylor Community Activities/Horsefest. He is survived by his wife, Muriel; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Harold Knudtson, Hebron; three grandchildren, Cerese (Patrick) Phillippe, Chanhassen, Minn., Cazanne (David) Fitterer, Bismarck, and Chad (Denise) Knudtson, Mandan; and two great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Jenna Fitterer. He was preceded in death by his first wife; parents; one sister; and five brothers. Memorials are preferred to Taylor Horsefest or American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 5234, Grand Forks, ND 58206-5234

Ernest J. Linder
UNDERWOOD -- Ernest J. Linder, 83, Underwood, died Sept. 27, 2000, in a Minot hospital, after an extended illness. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, at Goetz Funeral Home Chapel, Underwood. Burial will be in Bethel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Coleharbor. He is survived by one daughter, Sharon Anderson, Wilton; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Tillie Radke, Underwood, and Agnes Forland, Garrison.

Erwin Mayer
OAKES -- Erwin Mayer, 76, Oakes, formerly of Gackle, died Sept. 27, 2000, in the Oakes care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Gackle. Burial will be in Alfred Cemetery. He is survived by one brother, William, Bemidji, Minn.; and two sisters, Nelda Oberlander, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Annetta Podoll, Fort Ransom. Anna T. Newbury
JAMESTOWN -- Anna T. Newbury, 92, Jamestown, died Sept. 27, 2000, in a Jamestown nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at First Congregational United Church of Christ, Jamestown. Burial will be in Fisher Cemetery, Tappen. She is survived by two daughters, Virginia Fanta, Jamestown, and Sandra Shultz, Veneta, Ore.; two sons, John, Vancouver, Wash., and George, Minot; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandsons. Anna M. Ocker
Anna M. Ocker, 65, Billings, Mont., died Sept. 24, 2000, at her home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Saturday, at Nathanael Church, Dagmar, Mont. Burial will be in Nathanael Cemetery. She is survived by one son, Greg, Billings; two daughters, Dianna Ocker-Fieldstead and Laura Ocker, both of Edmonds, Wash.,; one grandson; and four brothers, Svend, Carl, Lars and Hans Larsen. Bertha H. Person
DEVILS LAKE -- Bertha H. Person, 88, Devils Lake, formerly of Kief and Minnewaukan, died Sept. 26, 2000, in a Devils Lake care center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, at Grace Lutheran Church, McClusky. Burial will be in West Scandia Lutheran Cemetery, rural Kief. She is survived by three daughters, Betty Plesuk, Minot, Marlez Gilbertson, Minnewaukan, and Bonnie Ittner, Grand Forks; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Arleen Swanson
WILLISTON -- Arleen Swanson, 76, Williston, died Sept. 28, 2000, in the Williston hospital. Arrangements are pending with Everson Funeral Home, Williston.

Marjorie Thompson
Marjorie Mueller Thompson, 74, Baptist Home, Bismarck, died Sept. 27, 2000 at the home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at the Baptist Home, with the Rev. Clyde Leimberer officiating. Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church. Marjorie was born April 18, 1926 in Iowa City, Iowa, to Carl and Vera Mueller. She grew up in Luverne, Minn., and graduated from high school in 1944. She attended Stephens College and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1950 with a major in art history and library science. Marjorie was staying with her aunt in Bismarck and working for the North Dakota State Library Commission when she met Ralph Thompson. They were married Jan. 31, 1953 and made their home in Bismarck. Marjorie enjoyed ceramics, needlework, bridge, golf and bowling, and took pleasure in art history. She is survived by one son, Rod, Sunnyvale, Calif.; and one cousin, Tom Trousdale, Bismarck. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Ralph.

Mary M. Torstenson
WATFORD CITY -- Mary M. Torstenson, 84, Watford City, died Sept. 26, 2000, at her home. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at First Lutheran Church, Watford City. Her cremated remains will be interred at Schafer Cemetery prior to the memorial service. She is survived by one son, Wayne, Ponca City, Okla.; two daughters, Ardith Favorite, Collingswood, N.J., and Candyce Henrick, Portland, Ore.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Annie Harms, Velva; and two brothers, Matt Honcharenko, Minot, and Andrew Honcharenko, Astoria, Ore. Arthur R. Boschee
ZEELAND -- Arthur R. Boschee, 90, Pequot Lakes, Minn., formerly of Zeeland, died Sept. 6, 2000. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Alice Catholic Church, Pequot Lakes, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Nisswa, Minn. He is survived by his wife, Philippine; five sons, Jerr, Eden Prairie, Minn., Ken, Indianapolis, Ind., Doug, Maple Grove, Minn., Rick, Roseville, Minn., and Bob, Phoenix; three daughters, Jann Blesener, San Antonio, Texas, Marg Saeger, Elk River, Minn., and Laya Kilian, Phoenix; 19 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four brothers, Eugene, Thomas, Ervin and MIlbert. Blossom-Mae Dobitz
Blossom-Mae Dobitz, 70, Bismarck, died Sept. 8, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at First Congregational Church, Kulm, with the Rev. Bill Bradley officiating. Burial will be in Kulm Congregational Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m.-noon Monday at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Kulm, and will continue at the church one hour before services. Blossom was born May 25, 1930, at Kulm, the daughter of Otto and Amelia (Borth) Kosanke. Blossom grew up in Kulm and received her education in and graduated from Kulm High School. She went on to attend cosmetology and hair dressing school in Fargo. She returned to Kulm where she owned and operated Blossom-Mae's Beauty Shop for several years. Blossom was married to John Dobitz on Oct. 17, 1953, at Edgeley. They made their home at Dickinson for three years. The family moved to Naperville, Ill., where they lived for 17 years. While there Blossom was very active as a Cub Scout leader, serving as den mother and senior den mother for many years. They later moved to North Platte, Neb., where they lived for seven years before moving to Bismarck, where they had resided for the past 21 years. Blossom loved to do cross-stitching for a hobby. Her interests included music, having been a member of the Kulm City Band. She played the accordian and the drums. In her younger years Blossom loved to entertain the residents of the local nursing homes and churches with her accordion. She is survived by her husband, John; one son and daughter-in-law, John Kevin and Terri, Houston, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Ben Warden, Colorado Springs, Colo.; four grandchildren, Eric and Ross Dobitz, Leah Graham and Jessica Warden; and one brother, Bruce Kosanke, Kulm. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Cleo Jerry Elhard
KULM -- Cleo Jerry Elhard, 51, Kulm, died Sept. 7, 2000, in the Wishek hospital. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. He is survived by one brother, Leland, Columbus, Ohio. (Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Kulm)

RICHARDTON -- Francis LeRoy Hoffmeyer, 81, Richardton, died Sept. 7, 2000, in the Richardton hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. MDT Monday at Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson, with burial in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Richardton. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; four daughters, Linda Morris, Cody, Wyo., Pam Anderson, Fountain, Colo., Paula Bryant, Greenbriar, Tenn., and Laurie Davis, Security, Colo.; five sons, Phillip, Hereford, Ariz., Barry, Littleton, Colo., Morris, Townsville, S.C., Mark, Thornton, Colo., and Dean, Hillsboro; one brother, Duane, Mesa, Ariz.; and one sister, Marlys Knuston, Valley City; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

NEW ROCKFORD -- Raymond Jones, 86, New Rockford, died Sept. 7, 2000, in the New Rockford care center. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Congregational Church, New Rockford. Further arrangements are pending at Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford.

Inga Knutson, 92, Bismarck, died Sept. 8, 2000, in her home. Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck. Further arrangements are pending at Eastgate Funeral Service.
