Berniece Inez Stai
Funeral services for Berniece Inez Stai, 89, Fargo, formerly Wyndmere, were held on Monday, October 15, 2001 at the United Methodist Church, Wyndmere. Reverend Jack Erickson officiated. Mrs. Stai died Wednesday, October 10, 2001 at Elim Nursing Home, Fargo.
Berniece Inez Seltveit, daughter of Carl G. and Ingeborg (Tennefos) Seltveit, was born on February 19, 1912 in DeLamere, N.D. She grew up and attended school in DeLamere before moving to Fargo and graduated from high school there.
On September 12, 1934, she married Robert J. Naegeli in Moorhead. They lived in Alexandria, Minn. where Berniece worked for American Laundry Company. Berniece moved to Grand Forks to care for her mother for many years until the time of her mother’s death.
On December 6, 1947, she married Raymond L. Stai in Moorhead. They moved to Wyndmere where Berniece was active in volunteering at the school and local blood drives. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wyndmere and was active in church groups. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors of America. In 1996, she moved to the Fargo area and entered Elim Nursing Home in September 1998.
She is survived by two sons, Robert (Gretchen) Naegeli, Zapata, Tex., and Ron (Cindy) Stai, Audubon, Minn.; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Scott Naegeli, Todd Barton, Dan Barton and Nick Naegeli.
Music was provided by organist Norma Kjos and soloist Timber Rosing.
Interment at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, DeLamere.
Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Milnor, was in charge of arrangements.

Bernice L. Kristenson
Funeral services for Bernice Lorraine Kristenson, 85, Aberdeen, formerly Stillwater, Minn., were held on Monday, October 15, 2001 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Aberdeen. Reverend Steve Meyer officiated. Mrs. Kristenson died Thursday, October 11, 2001 at Bethesda Home, Aberdeen.
Bernice Lorraine Henrickson, daughter of Johannes and Josephine (Nelson) Henrickson, was born January 7, 1916 in Fort Ransom. She lived on the family farm and then completed business school in Minneapolis. She worked as a secretary for the president of the Fuller Brush Company.
In 1942, she married Karsten J. Kristenson. They served Lutheran parishes in Pembina, N.D. and in Minnesota towns including Hallock, Willmar, Henning, Wanamingo, Kenyon and Winona. In 1980, they retired in Moorhead where they continued to serve parishes on a supply basis. She used her musical abilities in those parishes, including accompanying her husband’s solos on the piano, playing the organ for worship services and singing in the choir. While living in Kenyon, she worked with deaf children at the state school in Faribault, Minn. She moved to Stillwater in 1991. She then moved to the Bethesda Town Square in Aberdeen in 1999 and to the Bethesda Home in January 2000.
She is survived by thee sons, Allan (Jacquelyn) Kristenson, Lake Elmo, Minn., Stephen (Jane) Kristenson, Camrose, Alberta, Canada, and Nathan (Joni) Kristenson, Grand Marais, Minn.; one daughter, Karen (William) Hoar, Aberdeen; one sister, Muriel Sandhei, Valley City; three brothers, Harold Henrickson, Lisbon, Palmer Henrickson, Oakdale, Minn.; and Andor Henrickson, Richfield, Minn.; and ten grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Karsten Kristenson, who died in 1983; one brother and three sisters.
Interment at Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.

Einar Lund
Funeral services for Einar Lund, 88, Fergus Falls, were held on Monday, October 15, 2001 at the Olson Funeral Home Chapel, Fergus Falls, Minn. Reverend Paul Hadland officiated. Mr. Lund died Wednesday, October 10, 2001 at the Lake Region Hospital, Fergus Falls.
Einar Lund, son of Elvin and Hilma Lund, was born on July 1, 1913 on a farm near Gwinner. He was confirmed at Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church in Gwinner. He grew up and attended school in Gwinner. He stayed on the farm working and caring for his family until the early 1960s when he moved to Fergus Falls to be near his sisters. He was a member of the Augustana Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls.
He is survived by one sister, Margaret (Kenneth) Carlson, Oklahoma; two nieces, Marcella (Elwood) Bartl and Judy Ellingson, both of Oklahoma; two nephews, Russell (Karen) Adelsman, Apple Valley, Minn. and Roger (Ruth) Adelsman, St. Paul, Minn.; six grand-nieces and nephews; and several great-grand-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Ruby Lund Adelsman; and his good friend, Stacy Estenson.
Interment at Gwinner Cemetery, Gwinner.

Harold E. Hoppin
Funeral services for Harold E. Hoppin, 93, Grand Rapids, Mich., formerly Fargo, were held on Monday, October 15, 2001 in the Ivers-Landblom Funeral Home Chapel, Fargo. Mr. Hoppin died after a short illness on Wednesday, October 10, 2001 in Heartland Greenview Nursing Home, Grand Rapids.
Harold Elwin Hoppin, son of Frank Tyler and Jennie Estella (Brush) Hoppin, was born on June 21, 1908 in Lisbon. He grew up in Fargo and attended school there. He later attended Dakota Business College at Fargo. Harold entered and served in the 207AAF Base Unit in Deming, N.M. from July 15, 1942, until his honorable discharge October 10, 1945. He was a glider pilot.
On August 5, 1944, he married Glenora P. Belland in Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead. The couple made their home in Fargo until 1950 when they moved to Moorhead. They resided in Moorhead until moving back to Fargo in 1970. His wife, Glenora, preceded him in death on April 10, 1989. Harold worked as a stock broker for 49 years until his retirement from Piper, Jaffray and Hopwood, Fargo. He was a member of Fargo Shiloh Lodge #1, El Zagal Temple, and Order of Eastern Star. He was also a member of First Lutheran Church, Fargo. The last number of years, Harold had made his home with his nephew, Robert (Rae) Nelson, Grand Rapids, Mich.
He is survived by two sisters-in-law, Jane Hoppin, Kentucky, and Helen Belland, Moorhead; three nieces; four nephews; one godchild and grand-niece; plus many other grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Glenora; three brothers, Harry, Frank and Edward Hoppin; four sisters, Jennie Nelson, Eleanor Nelson, Della Gill and Sara Gorman.
Interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon.

Evelyn M. Hass
Funeral services for Evelyn M. Hass, 92, Valley City, were held on Thursday, October 18, 2001 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley City. Mrs. Hass died Sunday, October 14, 2001 in the Sheyenne Care Center, Valley City.
Evelyn M. Ferguson, daughter of David Alexander and Ada (Britney) Ferguson, was born on May 25, 1909 in Pequot Lakes, Minn. She attended Dibble School in Pequot Lakes. Her mother died when Evelyn was 6, she was then taken care of by her Grandma Dibble and two aunts. At the age of 12, she went to live with the Harry Parks’ and worked at Gull Lake Resort for room and board. In 1924, she went to Valley City because her sister, Olive, was there. She did housework.
On January 28, 1928, she married Emil R. Hass. They lived and farmed in Ashtabula Township until they retired and moved to Valley City in 1966. Emil died April 10, 1987. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Lois Circle there. She was a charter member of the Ashtabula Homemakers and was president for a year.
She is survived by one son, Emil (Donna) Hass, Jr., Valley City; three daughters, Eleanor (Donald) Senrick, Apple Valley, Minn., Arlene (Allan) Froemke, Lisbon, and Jo Ann Korf, Valley City; 21 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Ferguson, Valley City; two sisters-in-law, Freda Whetzel, Valley City, and Tillie Hass, Blue Rapids, Kan.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Emil Hass; an infant daughter, Betty Jean; four grandsons; one brother, Martin Ferguson; two sisters, Olive and Ida Ferguson; and an infant sister.
Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City, was in charge of arrangements.

Emma Bergemann
Funeral services for Emma Bergemann, 83, Lisbon, were held on Wednesday, October 17, 2001 at Zion Lutheran Church, Gwinner. Reverend Kirk Douglas officiated. Mrs. Bergemann died Sunday, October 14, 2001 at the Lisbon Medical Center Nursing Home, Lisbon.
Emma Zwetzig, daughter of Jacob and Eva K (Meier) Zwetzig, was born on July 4, 1918 in rural Lisbon. She attended rural Lisbon school.
On June 15, 1938, she married Clarence Bergemann in rural Gwinner. They farmed near Gwinner for three years; then farming near Lisbon for 34 years. They moved to Lisbon in 1975. They spent some winters in Arizona. Emma was active in Zion Lutheran LWML and was a member of Bale Fiesta Homemakers for 50+ years.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence Bergemann, Lisbon; three sons, Ron (Sandi) Bergemann, Duane (Sheila) Bergemann and Dennis (Gail) Bergemann, all of Lisbon; one daughter, Eileen (LeRoy) Putnam, Alexandria; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; four sisters, Freda Rehborg, Henning, Minn., Esther (Charles) Asp, San Marcos, Calif., Ruth (Richard) Sanderson, Lisbon, and Marion (Lloyd) Milligan, Fargo. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Aleck Zwetzig.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Kendall Johnson, Loren Bergemann, Daniel Bergemann, Curtis Bergemann, Aaron Putnam, Tyler Putnam, Rita Bergemann and Heidi Jamison.
Music was provided by organist LaVonne Nelson and soloist Heidi Jamison.
Interment at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Gwinner.

Mackenzie Alexis Troyer
Funeral services for Mackenzie Alexis Troyer, 5 weeks, Fargo, were held on Tuesday, October 16, 2001 at First Assembly of God, Fargo. Mackenzie died Saturday, October 13, 2001 at Minneapolis (Minn.) Children’s Hospital.
Mackenzie Alexis Troyer, daughter of Todd and Kelly Troyer, Fargo, was born on Tuesday, September 4, 2001 in Minneapolis.
She is survived by her parents; one brother, Matthew, Fargo; her grandparents, Keith and Lois Troyer, Waterloo, Iowa, and Duane and Flora Sulerud, Cherokee Village, Ark.; and her great-grandmother, Helen Sulerud, Lisbon. She was preceded in death by her sister, Taylor Troyer, who died in 2000.
Interment at Riverside Cemetery, Fargo.
Korsmo Funeral Service, Moorhead, was in charge of arrangements.
