Linda Frohlich
Linda Frohlich, 67, Mandan, died Aug. 28, 2000 in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at Mandan United Methodist Church, 610 12th St. N.W. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans' Cemetery, rural Mandan. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. today and from 8-10 a.m. Thursday, at the Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan. There will be no visitation at the church. Linda was born on Sept. 25, 1932 on the family farm near New Salem, the daughter of Ernst and Ottilia (Hoger) Wolf. She attended school in Judson and married Wayne Frohlich on Oct. 8, 1953 in New Salem. She worked at various retail stores in Mandan over the years and retired from Mandan Drug in 1995. Linda loved traveling, reading, crafts and most of all her grandchildren. They were her pride and joy. Linda is survived by her husband of 47 years, Wayne; four sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Vivian, Bismarck, Randy and Rita, Mandan, Terry and Kandi, Tomball, Texas, and Bruce and his fiancee, Val Renner, Mandan; 11 grandchildren; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann and Frank Stumpf, Puyallup, Wash., Jeanette and Gene Wheeler, Tacoma, Wash., Betty and Joe Leingang, Mandan, and Darlene and George Heck, Puyallup; and two brothers, Harold Wolf, Bismarck, and Jim Wolf and his wife, Eilene, New Salem. Margaret Jack
Margaret "Peg" Falk Jack, 77, Prescott, Ariz., and formerly of Bismarck, died Aug. 25, 2000, in a Phoenix, Ariz. hospital. A memorial service to celebrate her life was held at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Prescott, Ariz., on Aug. 29. Margaret Louise Falk was born Feb. 12, 1923, in Decatur, Ill. Peg's parents names were Carl Lewis and Gladys Louise Falk. She married Thomas Burrowes Jack Jr. on April 30, 1944, in Decatur. She had two brothers, two children, and one grandson. Peg was married 56 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Carl Willard Falk. The survivors are her brother, Don Burton and Jean Falk, Greensboro, N.C.; her husband, Thomas B. Jack Jr., Prescott, Ariz.; daughter, Martha Louise Jack, Richland, Wash.; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Jack III and Joanne Gail Jack and grandson, Alexander Thomas Jack of Dubuque, Iowa. Peg attended Millikin University in Decatur, Ill., and was a member of the Sigma Alpha Iota music sorority. Peg and Thomas moved to Bismarck in 1964 and lived here for 28 years. Peg was a member of PEO Chapter AA in Bismarck. She was an accompanist of the Bismarck Boys' Choir and was the organizer and treasurer of B.T.O. an investment club in Bismarck. She and her husband, Tom, joined the First Presbyterian Church of Bismarck in October 1964. She was an elder, active in Presbyterian Women's Circles, and directed the bell choir of the church. They moved to Prescott, Ariz. in 1992. They visited in the spring of 1998 for the dedication of the Jack Science Building at BSC. Along with her husband, she was nationally recognized as a benefactor to Bismarck State College. Her lifelong passion for music was expressed in community activities and service to her church in Decatur, LaGrange, Ill., Bismarck, and Prescott. She was a homemaker all of her life and her family was her main focus and interest in life. She was known as a compassionate and loving woman. In lieu of flowers, Peg would like any memorials received to be given to the Music Department of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Prescott, or Bismarck State College.

Melvin LeRoy Johnson
GARRISON -- Melvin LeRoy Johnson, 88, Garrison, died Aug. 27, 2000 in the Garrison hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Garrison, with burial in Garrison Cemetery. He is survived by two brothers, Delbert, Garrison, and John R., Bismarck. Edna Mae Jurgens
DICKINSON -- Edna Mae Jurgens, 87, Dickinson, formerly of Taylor, died Aug. 28, 2000 in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT today at Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson.

Howard Nelson
Howard Nelson, 71, Mandan, died Aug. 29, 2000 at his home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at Messiah Lutheran Church, Mandan. Further arrangements are pending with Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan.

Adeline Schmidt
CARRINGTON -- Adeline Schmidt, 87, Carrington, died Aug. 27, 2000 in a Carrington care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at Grace Lutheran Church, with burial in Carrington Cemetery. She is survived by two brothers, Laurence Lechner, Forest Lake, Minn., and Dr. Edgar Lechner, St. Paul, Minn.; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. (Evans Funeral Home, Carrington)

Clarence J. Schweigert
ZEELAND -- Clarence J. Schweigert, 70, Zeeland, died Aug. 29, 2000 in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending with Myers Funeral Home, Linton.

Jace TenBroek
Jace TenBroek, 30, formerly of McIntosh, S.D., died Aug. 28, 2000 near Rock Springs, Wyo., of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Arrangements are pending with Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Lemmon.

Robert A. Espe
Robert A. Espe, 69, Bismarck, died Aug. 27, 2000 in a Mandan care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Jeff Tengesdal, officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans' Cemetery, rural Mandan. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Bismarck Funeral Home. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Robert was born on March 29, 1931 in Rolette, the son of Peter and Una (Finnigan) Espe. He was raised in Mylo, and graduated from Rolette High School in 1948. He served in the Army from Nov. 4, 1948 until Aug. 1, 1952, including serving in the Korean War, and held the rank of CPL (T). Upon discharge, he enrolled at Jamestown College where he met his wife (Marcelline Erickson) and graduated in 1956 with a BS degree in Accounting. On Sept. 5, 1955 he married his one true love, Marcelline Erickson in Jamestown. Following his graduation from Jamestown College, he was employed as an Internal Revenue Service for 10 years and was honored with the Albert Gallatine Award, which was rewarded by the United States Department of the Treasury. Since his retirement, he enjoyed taking his dogs hunting, fishing with family and friends, spending time outdoors working in the yard and garden, and playing with investments on his computer. He was a life member of the Bismarck-Mandan Elks Lodge. He especially enjoyed traveling with his wife across the country to their favorite sports, such as Laughlin, Nev., where they spent several winters. He will always be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend to all those who knew him. Robert is survived by his wife, Marcelline of 45 years; one daughter, Dr. Barbara Espe, Bismarck; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Espe-Pfeifer and Dr. Jason Pfeifer, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; one son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Cheri Espe, Cloquet, Minn.; and son, Dean Espe, Dallas, Texas. Of his siblings, he is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Bernard and Louise Espe, Orting, Wash.; his sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor and Isadore Gores, Chelan, Wash.; and brother and sister-in-law, Rodney and Viola Espe, Klamath Falls, Ore. He was the proud grandfather of four beautiful grandchildren, Robert (age 14), John (age 12), Brenna (age 10), and Autumn (age 6) of Cloquet, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Geraldine Miller and life-long friend, Wayne Walsh of Mylo, N.D. (Bismarck Funeral Home)

Anthony Carey Fast Dog
NEW TOWN -- Anthony Carey Fast Dog, 34, New Town, died Aug. 27, 2000 at his home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, at North Segment Hall, New Town, with burial in Congregational Cemetery, Mandaree. He is survived by his father, Adrian Bird Bear, Norwalk, Calif.; his mother, Dawn Touche, Huntington Beach, Calif.; five brothers, Donovan Siers, New Town, Cameron Touche, Faron Touche, Nicholas Touche, all of Bell, Calif., and Allen Bird Bear, Norwalk, Calif.; four sisters, Rolanda Touche, Bell, Stacy Driver, New Town, Carolyn Bird Bear, Bismarck, and Jayne Bird Bear, Watford City. Vera Meadows
MEDINA -- Vera Meadows, 75, Medina, died Aug. 30, 2000 in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, at English Lutheran Church, Medina, with burial in Medina Cemetery. She is survived by four children, Shirley Ihli, Lansford, N.D.; Glenda Wentz, Jamestown, Clifford, Medina, and Clayton, Medina; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister Esther Rothwell, Jamestown, N.D. Howard E. Nelson
Howard E. Nelson, 71, Mandan, died Aug. 29, 2000 at his home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at Messiah Lutheran Church, Mandan, with the Rev. James A. Baneck officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Mandan Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Posts. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday, at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mamdan, where a time for sharing remembrances will be held from 7:30-8:30 p.m. followed by a short prayer service. Howard was born on April 13, 1929 in Bismarck, the son of Hjalmer and Gladys (Gallup) Nelson. He attended schools in Bismarck, graduating from Bismarck State College in 1949. On Sept. 9, 1950, he married Frances Wise, who passed away in 1971. Three children were born to this union, David Nelson, Diane Nelson Bosworth and Jane Nelson. After driving truck for Sweetheart Bakery while attending school, he served in the Army from 1950 to 1952. Upon his return, he attended the University of North Dakota and then taught in Thief River Falls for two years. He returned to UND and received a Master of Science teaching degree. In 1960, he returned to Mandan, where he taught science and math classes at both the junior and senior high schools. In 1971, Howard was named North Dakota Science Teacher of the Year. In 1973, he married Colleen Thomas. He retired in 1987. Howard belonged to various professional education associations, Messiah Lutheran Church and the Three Crowns American-Swedish Association. He is survived by his wife, Colleen; his children and thier spouses, David and Sandy Nelson, Williston, Diane and Joel Bosworth, Mandan, and Jane Nelson, McKenzie; his grandchildren, Beth and Shane Anderson, and Laura Nelson, Williston, Geoffrey Nelson and Amy Beehler, McKenzie, and Clayton, Gwen and David Bosworth, Mandan; one great-grandchild, Kaden Anderson, Williston; and one sister, Marie Entringer, Bismarck. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert; and his sister, Ellen Tessman. The family prefers memorials to Martin Luther School or charity of choice.

Regina Nilles
ALMONT -- Regina Nilles, 91, New Salem, and formerly of Almont, died Aug. 30, 2000 in the New Salem nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Saturday, at St. Pius V Catholic Church, New Salem, with the Rev. David Zimmer officiating. Burial will be in Almont Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. MDT Friday, at Elm Crest Nursing Home, New Salem, and will continue after 3 p.m. at the Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, New Salem. Visitation will continue one hour before services at the church. Regina Helen Timpe was born on June 25, 1909 on the family homestead, eight miles southwest of Almont, the daughter of Herman G. and Catherine (Venners) Timpe. She attended country school through eighth grade and graduated from Almont High School in 1928. She attended Dickinson State Teachers College and taught school in Lehr, Antelope, Richardton and Yucca. She married Clarence G. Nilles on June 7, 1937. Known for her hospitality and excellent cooking skills, she never let anyone leave her home hungry. She was extremely knowledgeable concerning the history of Almont and its families for many generations past. Much of this history is gone with her death. Regina is survived by her two sons, Clarence N., Bismarck, and Darrel L. and his wife, Marian, Almont; nine grandchildren, Shannon, Mitchel, Judith, James, Michael, Steven, April, Susan and Candy; 12 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Nicholas Benjamin Timpe and his wife, Helen, Broomall, Pa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, who died in 1985; two sisters, Mary Ellen Harwood and Annie Catherina Lecy; four brothers, Walter James, August Clemmens, Edwin Bernard and Leo Peter Timpe.

Clarence W. Pagel
CARSON -- Clarence W. Pagel, 81, Carson, died Aug. 29, 2000 at his home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Saturday, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Carson, with burial in Leith Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Bernice; one son, Curby Pagel, Mandan; one brother, Wilbert, Albert Lea, Minn.; two grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. G. Clark Robinson
G. Clark Robinson, 83, Santa Rosa, Calif., formerly of Coleharbor and former president of the North Dakota Farm Bureau, died Aug. 23, 2000 at his home. A memorial service is being planned in October when his ashes will be buried on the Coal Harbor Stock Farm near Riverdale. He is survived by his wife, Majel; two sons, John Clark Robinson, Cloverdale, Calif., and George "Mac" McKinsey Robinson, Austin, Texas; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one brother, Dave M., Coleharbor; and one sister, Elizabeth Hill, Bismarck.

Clarence J. Schweigert
ZEELAND -- Clarence J. Schweigert, 70, Zeeland, died Aug. 29, 2000 in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Zeeland, with the Rev. John Lewandowski officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. today at the Myers Funeral Home, Linton, and from 5 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. tonight at the church. Clarence J. Schweigert was born Jan. 13, 1930 in Zeeland, the son of John and Regina (Feist) Schweigert. He attended the Zeeland schools and graduated from Zeeland High School in 1947. Clarence attended Ellendale Normal School and Industrial College in Ellendale. On Jan. 9, 1951, he entered the U.S. Air Force and served in Korea during the Korean War. After his discharge on Jan. 8, 1955 he returned to Zeeland. On Sept. 6, 1955, he married Virginia Brandner at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Zeeland. They made their home in Zeeland, where Clarence and his father were in the construction business. Later, Clarence operated his own business, Schweigert Paint and Construction. He was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, the church council, the Zeeland American Legion, Zeeland Senior Citizens, Zeeland Volunteer Fire Department and the Ashley Country Club. Clarence served as the Zeeland School Board Clerk for 25 years. He thoroughly enjoyed sports and played amateur baseball for a number of years. Clarence was a member of the Fighting Sioux, St. Mary's Saints and Jamestown College Booster Clubs. He dearly loved all of his grandchildren. Grateful to have shared his life are his wife, Virginia; six sons and three daughters-in-law, Lowell, Grand Forks, Keith, Fargo, Mahlon and Myrna, Hettinger, Kent and his special friend, Marilyn Messer, both of Bismarck, Kyle and Laura, Grand Forks, Shannon and Holly, Fargo; seven granddaughters and one grandson; six sisters and four brothers-in-law, Rosemary Schatz, Zeeland, Marge and Bob Stevenson, Dufur, Ore., Helen and Myron Jakober, Missoula, Mont., Judy Schnieder, Windom, Minn., Ann and Tom Price, Rapid City, S.D., and Kathy and Jerry Bessette, Wichita Falls, Texas. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters. (Myers Funeral Home, Linton)

Jace B. Ten Broek, 30, McIntosh, S.D., died Aug. 28, 2000 of injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Rock Springs, Wyo. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, McIntosh, with burial in Ten Broek Ranch Cemetery. He is survived by his parents, Bonnie and Darrell Ten Broeck, Ten Sleep, Wyo.; one sister, Shelly; his grandparents, Bud and Phyllis Broek, McIntosh, and Catherine Lang, Dawson.
