GARRISON -- Camille Hosie, 91, Garrison, died Oct. 23, 2000, in the Garrison hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Garrison. Burial will be in the church cemetery. She is survived by three daughters, Wandalee McKee, Pequot Lakes, Minn., Donalee Boujikian, Torrance, Calif., and Rosalee Schreiner, Garrison; one brother, Richard Frederick, Garrison; one sister, Helen Aldinger, Garrison; and 19 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren. Melvin H. Kruckenberg
Melvin H. Kruckenberg, 71, died Oct. 8, 2000, in a Portland, Ore., hospital of cancer. Melvin was born Feb. 21, 1929 at Stanton. He graduated from Bismarck High School in 1942. He served four years in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. San Carlos, and his ship was involved in the invasion of Leyte, the Solomons, Marati Island and the liberation of the Philippines. After the service Mel received his B.S. from Westmar College, LeMars, Iowa, and his masters degree from Greeley, Colo. He taught in Eagle Butte, S.D., Steele, N.D., and Gresham, Ore. Left to mourn Mel are his wife; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rod and Lynn, and Randy and Hope; one daughter and son-in-law, Kayleen and Bob; several grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Joan; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Marvin, Arlene and Herb, and Betty Lou and Dr. Warren; and many nieces, nephews and very dear friends, Spike and Jeanne. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G.H. Kruckenberg; two brothers, the Rev. Len, and Monte, who served in the Marines.

Eldo E. Lee
CARRINGTON -- Eldo E. Lee, 85, Carrington, died Oct. 25, 2000, in the Carrington health center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Federated Church, Carrington. Burial will be in Carrington Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Clara, Carrington; two daughters, Sue Miller, St. Charles, Ill., and Janet Lee, Hutchinson, Minn.; two granddaughters; one sister, Mildred Sperry, Bethesda, Md.; and one brother, Llewellyn Lee, Fargo. Clement Long
Clement Long, 72, Mandan, died Oct. 26, 2000, in the Mandan hospital. Arrangements are pending with Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan.

Lucille E. Momerak
MINOT -- Lucille E. Momerak, 92, Minot, died Oct. 25, 2000, in a Bismarck nursing home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot. Visitation will be from 3 to 8:30 p.m. today at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot. Lucille Evelyn Larson was born Sept. 2, 1908 in Kenaston, N.D., the daughter of Nels and Ida (Miller) Larson. She moved with her family to Parshall, and then to Raub, where she was raised and educated in her younger years, before graduating from Minot High School in 1926. She was united in marriage to Gustav "Gus" Momerak on Dec. 26, 1938 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot. Soon after 1929, they moved to Balfour, where they owned and operated the grocery store. They sold the store in 1944, and moved to Anamoose for a short time. They then moved to Harvey, where he was employed by Cudahy Packing and Fairmont Foods. In 1948, the family moved to Minot. Gus died Dec. 22, 1998. Lucille entered the Trinity Nursing Home in June of 1998. She most recently resided at the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center of Bismarck, to be nearer her family. She was a longtime member of Bethany Lutheran Church, where she was active with the Ladies Circle. She had been active with Trinity Auxiliary throughout the years. She is survived by one daughter, Lorraine Montgomery, Bismarck; one son, Wayne Momerak, Reno, Nev.; two grandchildren, Scott Montgomery and his wife Roxanne, Bismarck, and Katharine Montgomery Hagen and her husband Spencer, Pelican Rapids, Minn.; and two great-grandchildren, Amanda and Mikala Montgomery.

Anthony Alphonse Muggli
CARSON -- Anthony Alphonse Muggli, 67, Carson, died Oct. 25, 2000, at his home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, Carson, with the Rev. Gary Benz officiating. Burial will be in Carson Community Cemetery. Music will be provided by Patsy Hertz and Jackie Stewart. Serving as casket bearers will be his seven children, Timmy, Jean, CarolLee, Scott, Cindy, David and Denise. Anthony was born Aug. 9, 1933 in Carson, to Vincent and Elizabeth (Soring) Muggli. He lived his entire life in the Carson area. He attended the Carson school, graduating in 1951. He started farming with his brothers while still in high school and farmed his entire life, except when he was in the service from 1956 to 1958. He was stationed in Germany and enjoyed touring with his Army buddies when off duty. On Oct. 28, 1961, he married Mary Banning at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Carson. Together, they farmed and raised their children in the Carson area. Besides his farming interest, he enjoyed trucking and the people he got to know through the years. He had a talent for mechanics and engineering and passed those interests on to his sons. He also thoroughly enjoyed his four grandchildren and was so proud of their activities. He is survived by his wife, Mary, Carson; three sons and daughters-in-law, Timmy and Andrea, and David and Heather, all of Carson, and Scott and Cherie, Fullerton; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Jean and Michael Strahan, Montclair, N.J., and CarolLee and Bill Carruth, Oakes, and Cindy and Denise; four grandchildren, Katie, Vincent, Kurt and Max; two brothers, Leo and Vincent, both of Carson; and five sisters, Anne Shaw, Mandan, Helen Zaczkowski, St. Joseph, Minn., Theresa Deichert, Lark, Mary Muggli, Santa Fe, N.M., and Barbara Dascolas, Sylmar, Calif. Tony was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Rose Weinhandl. (Hertz Brothers Funeral Home, New Leipzig)

Freeman Sand
STANLEY -- Freeman Sand, 86, Stanley, died Oct. 25, 2000, in the Stanley nursing center. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, rural New Town. Further arrangements are pending with Springan Funeral Home, Stanley.

Kathryn Sathren
LINTON -- Kathryn Sathren, 92, Linton, died Oct. 24, 2000, in a Minot nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Peace Lutheran Church, Linton. Burial will be in Linton City Cemetery. She is survived by one son, Dallas, Linton; one daughter, Myra Renschler, Linton; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Ted Schnaible, Minot, John Schnaible, Aurora, Colo., Fred Schnaible, Lodi, Calif., and Elmer Schnaible, San Diego, Calif.; and one sister, Emma Merkel, Linton. Peter J. Thomas
DRISCOLL -- Peter J. Thomas, 77, Driscoll, died Oct. 25, 2000, at his home surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Church of the Ascension, 1905 S. Third St., Bismarck, with the Revs. Marvin Klemmer, John Kuhn and George Dukart officiating. Burial will be in Driscoll Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at Bismarck Funeral Home, and from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight at St. Hildegard's Catholic Church, Menoken, with a rosary starting at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church. Peter was born June 3, 1923, the son of Joseph and Susanna (Jordan) in Hettinger County. He married Lucille Tank at Mott in 1946. They lived on the Thomas farm until they moved to McKenzie County in 1947. They lived there until 1952 when they moved to Driscoll, where they farmed and ranched until Peter's retirement in 1998. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Eagles and Moose clubs, 50 years in the saddle club, Driscoll wildlife club, and Sterling and Driscoll Senior clubs. Peter served on the McKenzie County and Driscoll school boards. Peter was especially proud of his family. He loved attending all their activities and was their biggest fan. Grandpa will never be forgotten in the stands. He enjoyed traveling and playing cards. He was known for his outgoing personality and his love of helping other people. Peter never stopped giving, and he was always there with a helping hand. Peter is survived by his wife, Lucille; two daughters and sons-in-law, Geraldine and Robert Harter, and Gail and Richard Harpole, all of Driscoll; one son and daughter-in-law, Gordon and Ava Thomas, Driscoll; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Joe and Sue Thomas, Dickinson, and Fred Thomas, Mott; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Lena Kelsch, Lefor, Mary Thomas, Minneapolis, and Ellie and Don Marx, Bismarck; grandchildren, Wes (Melissa) Thomas, Kelly Thomas and friend Kari, Sheldon (Michele) Harter, Lisa (Jamie) Wicks, Jamie Harter, Blane Harter and fiancee Tracy, and Sonya, Shawn, Kayla and Jenna Harpole; great-grandchildren, Nathaniel and Megan Harter, Brayden and Whitney Thomas, and Devin and Maria Wicks; and many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, John; and three sisters, Rose Mayer, Ann Schank and Kathy Messer.

LaVerne E. Bickel
LaVerne E. Bickel, Salem, Ore., died Oct. 23, 2000, in Salem. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, with burial at 2 p.m. MDT Monday in Peace Cemetery, New Salem. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, and one hour before services, all at the funeral home. LaVerne Evelyn was born in Bluegrass, the daughter of John M. and Emma (Ruthjen) Bickel. She was raised and educated in North Dakota and moved to Salem, Ore., in 1954. LaVerne was employed with M.A.P.S. Credit Union for 33 years, retiring in 1991. She enjoyed traveling, the coast, and spending time with friends and family. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Salem. She is survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Violet and Bill Chase, Tigard, Ore., and Lucille and Jim Albers, Pick City; one niece, Julie Chase; three nephews, Jim Albers, John and Darin Chase; and three grand-nieces, Victoria, Kayla and Alyssa Albers.

Raymond H. Braun
Raymond H. Braun, 79, 403 Seventh Ave. S.W., Mandan, died Oct. 25, 2000, in his home. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Albert Leary officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. Sunday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a parish vigil will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday. Visitation will continue after 9 a.m. Monday. Raymond was born July 15, 1921, in Glen Ullin, the son of Joseph and Katherine (Herner) Braun. He was raised and educated in Glen Ullin. On Aug. 17, 1942, he married Helen Kaip in Dickinson. They both farmed in the Glen Ullin area until 1956, when they moved to Mandan. Raymond was employed with a local union as a construction foreman and retired in 1984. His love of the outdoors included fishing and gardening, where he raised delicious tomatoes and extra hot peppers. He was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves. His family and friends knew him to be patient, hard-working and approached life in an easy, gentle manner with always a positive attitude. He is survived by his wife, Helen; three sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Jean, and Dennis and Nettie, all of Mandan, and Terry and Kathy, Ft. Worth, Texas; three daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Pete Schmalenberger, and Robin and Gary Aus, all of Mandan, and Lauren and John Zueger, Garrison; 12 grandchildren, Troy Braun, Tracey Heider, John and Jeff Zueger, Shawn Roehrich, Jessie, Ryan, Brad and Ashley Braun, Mandy and Sammy Reisenauer, and Tyler Schmalenberger; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Pete, Mike, Frank, Albert and Paul; and four sisters, Rose Hauck, Tina Simon, Hilda Mahegan and Clara Braun.

HEBRON -- Anna Chase, 90, Statesboro, Ga., formerly of Hebron, died Oct. 27, 2000, in Statesboro. Arrangements are pending at Spangelo Funeral Home, Hebron.

Eleanor Falstad
GARRISON -- Eleanor Falstad, 81, Garrison, died Oct. 27, 2000. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Peace Lutheran Church, Garrison. Further arrangements are pending at Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison.

Margaret Goetz
BEULAH -- Margaret Goetz, 86, Beulah, died Oct. 26, 2000, in the Hazen hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Halliday, with burial in Halliday Cemetery. She is survived by one daughter, Betty Jean Goetz, Bismarck; two sons, Allen, Tucson, Ariz., and William, Cincinnati, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
