CARRINGTON -- Marie Pierce, 86, Carrington, died Feb. 11, 2001, at her home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Church of the Nazarene, Carrington. Burial will be in Carrington Cemetery. She is survived by two sons, Eldon, Alexandria, Minn., and Jerome, New Rockford; one daughter, Janelle Koepplin, New Rockford; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one brother, Kenneth Stene, Napa, Calif. Theresia Sundsbak
UNDERWOOD -- Theresia Sundsbak, 47, Underwood, died Feb. 12, 2001, in a Bismarck care center. Arrangements are pending with Goetz Funeral Home, Underwood.

Karen J. Vesley
NEW ROCKFORD -- Karen J. Vesley, 56, New Rockford, died Feb. 9, 2001, in a New Rockford care center. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford. At Karen's request, her body was donated to UND School of Medicine, Grand Forks. She is survived by one sister, Carol Whittle, Tucson, Ariz.; one nephew, James Whittle, Cheyenne, Wyo.; and three aunts, Johanna Weeks, Dickinson, Edna Anderson, New Rockford, and Viola Meade, Moorhead, Minn.

Dion L. White Bear
NEW TOWN -- Dion L. White Bear, 36, New Town, died Feb. 11, 2001, at his home. Arrangements are pending with Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City.

Otto Woehl
WISHEK -- Otto Woehl, 90, Wishek, died Feb. 8, 2001, in the Wishek retirement home. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Wishek. Burial will be in Wishek City Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Ella; one daughter, Marlene Reule, Warner Robins, Ga.; one son, Leland, Spokane, Wash.; one brother, Albert, Bismarck; two sisters, Alma Engelhard, Aberdeen, S.D., and Leah Lindenman, Billings, Mont.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. August Anheluk
BELFIELD -- August Anheluk, 83, Belfield, died Feb. 12, 2001, in his home after a short illness with cancer. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Friday at St. John's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Belfield, with the Rev. Taras Miles officiating, assisted by Deacon Leonard Kordonowy. Concelebrant will be the Rev. Yaroslav Dowbush. Burial will be in St. Josephat's Cemetery, rural Fairfield, with military rites provided by William C. Blair Post 144. Visitation will be from noon-4 p.m. today at Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson, and will continue after 5 p.m. today at the church. A Parastas will begin at 7 tonight, led by Deacon Leonard Kordonowy. August Anheluk was born April 25, 1917, in Gorham, to Steve and Katherine (Godlesky) Anheluk. He attended school at Gorham and graduated from Belfield High School. August attended Dickinson State Teacher's College for one year. He taught school at various locations around Gorham. He enlisted in the 888 Signal Co. and served four years in the Pacific. He was discharged as a sergeant in 1946. August returned to the family farm and on June 9, 1949, he married Ann Krush at Ukairna Church. August and his family continued to farm until his death. August loved to play the fiddle with the Ukrainian Red Jacket Band. He also enjoyed reading and clipping articles. He was a member and trustee of the St. John's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Ann; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Jackie, Belfield, and their children, Dakia, Jude, Ivan, Toby, Jerrica and Christian, and Tom and Lisa, Bend, Ore., and their children, Riley and Tatum; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Paul Prussing, Bismarck, and their children, Ric, John and Kara; one brother and sister-in-law, Sam and Stella Anheluk, Mesa, Ariz.; and three sisters, Vinette Krogh and Olga Kordonowy, both of Dickinson, and Rose Grenz, Miles City, Mont. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Myron and Leslie; one brother, Mike; and one sister, Anna Gregory. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Ted Buchfink
ZAP -- Ted Buchfink, 79, Zap, died Feb. 13, 2001, in the Hazen hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. MST Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Zap, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Alma; one son, Merrill, Pembina; two daughters, Sarah Bauer, Stanton, and Linette Buchfink, Spokane, Wash.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Erma Voegele, Beulah. Harry C. Gaugler
NEW LEIPZIG -- Harry C. Gaugler, 73, New Leipzig, died Feb. 13, 2001, in a Mandan hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MST Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, New Leipzig. Further arrangements are pending at Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Lemmon, S.D.

JAMESTOWN -- Leona George, 78, Jamestown, died Feb. 13, 2001, in the Jamestown care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Concordia Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with burial in Fisher Cemetery, Tappen. She is survived by one daughter, Arlene Horst, Jamestown; four daughters, Janice Kidd, Jamestown, Jolene Diegenstein, Fond du Lac, Wis., Betty Job, Windsor, and Karen George, Jamestown; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Rudolph Stroh, Bismarck; and one sister, Emma George, Jamestown. HARVEY -- Ben Hager, 80, Carrington, died Feb. 12, 2001, in a Fargo hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Shelly; one son, LaVary, Brighton, Colo.; one daughter, Ilona Holzer, Rescue, Calif.; stepdaughters, Christi Cho, Rancho Cordova, Calif., Amy Samulson, Omaha, and Terry Hennings, Carrington; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; one brother, Edward, Apple Valley, Calif.; and five sisters, Helen Schmidt and Martha Weigel, both of Harvey, Regina Kolschefsky, Drake, Marion Hopkins, Springfield, Mo., and Catherine Sanchez, Ontario, Calif. Kenneth Knutson
KILLDEER -- Kenneth Knutson, 81, Killdeer, died Feb. 13, 2001, in his home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Normanna Lutheran Church, Dunn Center. He is survived by his wife, Bethol; three daughters, Brenda Pieterick, Bismarck, Karen Boehm, Killdeer, and Lori Kadrmas, Killdeer; two sons, Kim, Dunn Center, and Paul, Killdeer; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; one sister, Alice Bang, Killdeer; and one brother, Rueben Knutson, Killdeer. William J. Kollman
William J. Kollman, 52, 6319 E. Main Ave., died Feb. 10, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. A short memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan. Friends are welcome to say a few words in Bill's memory. Bill was born Oct. 31, 1948, in Flasher. He was raised and educated in Bismarck. He was a veteran who served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea. Bill had a love for camping, fishing, playing cro-shoes and being with his friends. He is survived by one daughter, Becky Meier, Minnesota; one son, Brandon William Dakota, California; one brother, Richard; and many friends. His parents, Henery and Luella Kollman preceded him in death. There will be a gathering at "The Office" following the service.

LeRoy E. Mickelson
JAMESTOWN -- LeRoy E. Mickelson Sr., 89, Jamestown, died Feb. 14, 2001, in the Jamestown hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at United Presbyterian Church, Jamestown. Further arrangements are pending at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Alfred J. Pfaff
NEW ROCKFORD -- Alfred J. Pfaff, 66, New Rockford, died Feb. 13, 2001, in the Carrington health center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford. He is survived by three brothers, Eugene, Fargo, Robert, Huachuca, Ariz., and Elmer, Wahpeton; and two sisters, Alice Hardke, LaMoure, and Margaret Schall, Enderlin.

Alma Potratz
ZAP -- Alma Potratz, 90, Zap, died Feb. 13, 2001, in the Beulah care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Zap, with the Rev. Richard Melchert officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah. Alma was born Dec. 2, 1910, at Juanita, a daughter of Henry and Emma (Barnes) Knuth. She was raised and educated at McHenry, graduating from McHenry High School in 1928. The family moved to the Zap area and Alma worked in the cookhouse at the Dakota Colleries strip mine, which is where she met her future husband. On April 9, 1932, she married Werner "Dick" Potratz at Stanton. They lived at the mine until 1950, when they moved to Zap, where she has since lived. Dick passed away on Sept. 5, 2000. Alma was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Zap, where she was active in the ladies organization. She was also active in the homemakers club, the Gray Ladies, the PTA and the community of Zap. Alma was a mother to one daughter, but she was a mother figure to many, many more. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Duane Bittner, North Highlands, Calif.; two granddaughters, Paula and Paul Kennedy, Elk Grove, Calif., and Julie and Leonard Sanchez, Antelope, Calif.; five great-grandsons, Ryan, Nolan, Dillon and Collin Kennedy, and Isaac Sanchez; one great-granddaughter, Hannah Sanchez; two sisters, Lois Klaus, Bismarck, and Evelyn Wisner, Ridgefield, Conn.; and one brother, George Thaler, Chippewa Falls, Wis. Alma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dick; one granddaughter, Lori Bittner; two sisters, Mildred Pederson and Marie Ringuette; and two brothers, Joe and Lester Schretenthaler.

Tina Staiger
Tina Staiger, 85, Billings, Mont., formerly of Mandan, died Feb. 14, 2001, in Billings. Arrangements are pending at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan.

Christina Wittkop
JAMESTOWN -- Christina Janke Wittkop, 94, Jamestown, died Feb. 13, 2001, in a Jamestown care center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Jamestown, with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown. She is survived by three daughters, Loraine Gieszler, Oregon City, Ore., Naomi Nagel, Jamestown, and Ruth Meidinger, Oregon City; six sisters; two brothers; 20 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. WILLISTON -- Marie Yockim, 76, Williston, died Feb. 12, 2001, in the Williston hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Everson Memorial Chapel, Williston, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, Williston. She is survived by her husband, Thomas; two daughters, Sheila Vig, Williston, and Karen Stearns, Arcadia, Calif.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
