Donald Kitt, 68, formerly of Oliver County, died Jan. 30, 2001, in a Billings, Mont. hospital. Arrangements are pending at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan.

FARGO -- Hazel F. Pederson, 79, died Jan. 31, 2001, in Fargo. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hope Lutheran Church, Fargo, with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Fargo. She is survived by her husband, Marvin; three sons, Thomas, Bismarck, Michael, Warroad, Minn., and Timothy, Fargo; one brother, Wallace, Lakeland, Fla.; two sisters, Fay, Lancaster, Calif., and Carol, Anchorage, Alaska; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson. She is survived by her mother, Mary Heath, Bowman; one sister, Jean Roehl, Bowman; one brother, Duane Heath, Hettinger; two daughters, Debra Place, Great Falls, and Dawn Fairbanks, Geraldine, Mont.; and two grandsons. He is survived by his wife, Mindy; one daughter, Vanessa Jo, Havre; his mother, Leona VanVleet, Beach; his father, Gary VanVleet, Belle Fourche, S.D.; three brothers, Curtis, Temecula, Calif., Duane, Beach, and Dean, Beach; and four sisters, Sarah Goroski, Phoenix, Jeanne Ray, Mohave Valley, Ariz., and Tonia and Teresa, both of Beach. He is survived by three daughters, Lottie Bischoff, Eden Prairie, Minn., Angie Monczynski, Cicero, IL, and Teresa Lautt, Fargo; five sons, Mike, Grand Forks, Rod and Russell, both of Jamestown, Eric, Devils Lake, and Jeffery, Mount Vernon, Ill.; 26 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Alvin and Gerhardt, both of Streeter, and Helmuth, Bismarck; two sisters, Jeannie Morrison, Edina, Minn., and Betty Bauer, Renton, Wash.

Jettie Fitch
HETTINGER -- Jettie Fitch, 97, Hettinger, died Feb. 20, 2001, in a Hettinger care center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MST Thursday at Congregational United Church of Christ, Hettinger. Burial will be in the city cemetery. She is survived by one daughter, Dorothy Davison, Hettinger; one son, Robert, Hettinger; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. NEW TOWN -- Charles Foreman, 54, New Town, died Feb. 19, 2001, at his home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church, Watford City. Burial will be in Silent City Cemetery. He is survived by two sisters, Kathryn Foreman and Lorraine Dailey, both of Minot; and one brother, Ronald, New Town. (Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City)

ASHLEY -- Frances Krenzler, 93, Ashley, died Feb. 20, 2001, in an Ashley care center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ashley Medical Center Nursing Home. Further arrangements are pending with Carlsen Funeral Home, Ashley.

Marjorie Parker, 72, Garrison, died Feb. 19, 2001. Arrangements are pending with Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison.

Elaine D. Schatz
Elaine D. Schatz, 66, Bismarck, died Feb. 19, 2001, at her home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at House of Prayer Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. David Swonger officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at Boelter Funeral Home, Bismarck, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church. Elaine was born Nov. 5, 1934, in McClusky, the daughter of Edwin and Emma (Bonnet) Helm. She was raised and educated in McClusky. She married Leo Schatz Sept. 29, 1952, in McClusky. They moved to Bismarck in 1963. Elaine worked as a cashier at Warehouse Market and Econo Foods for 34 years. She loved her job and customers. Elaine was a member of House of Prayer Lutheran Church, Eagles Ladies Auxiliary and the VFW Club. She loved the fellowship of quilting. She had six grandchildren, who were her life. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Paula, Wilton, and Wayde and Alice, Fullerton, Calif.; five grandchildren, Melissa, LaHabra, Calif., Ryan and David, both of Fullerton, Calif., and Brigette and Shawna, both of Mandan; one great-grandchild, Slade Carter Schatz; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Bertha and Andy Delzer, Bismarck, Joyce Hoffer, Minot, and Donna and Welford Jesz, Gretnz, Neb.; one brother and sister-in-law, Arley and Phyliss Helm, McClusky; nine nieces and nephews; and two very special friends, Kathy Dennis and Peggy Wegner. She was preceded in death by her husband; and her parents. In 1994 her precious granddaughter, Jaimie Kay, left us to go to heaven. It broke her heart.

JAMESTOWN -- Octavia Wolff, 83, Jamestown, died Feb. 19, 2001, in a Jamestown care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Jamestown. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown. She is survived by two sons, John, Jamestown, and Darwyn, Cypress, Calif.; and one sister, Janet Sanchez, Maddock. Sylvia J. Balkan
Sylvia J. Balkan, 69, Mission, Texas, died Feb. 20, 2001, in Mission following a courageous battle with emphysema. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mission. Sylvia was born in Buxton. She resided in Mandan for35 years before retiring to Lake Maud, Minn., and Mission. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Peter; four daughters and one son-in-law, Lore Balkan, Blacksburg, Va., Shelley Balkan, Rochester, Minn., Petrice Balkan, West Fargo, and Kristen and John Bringgold, Lakeville, Minn.; nine grandchildren; and her loyal companion, Annie. The family prefers memorials to the Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund, 1312 Oblate, Mission, Texas 78572. (Virgil Wilson Mortuary, Mission)

She is survived by three daughters, Dorothy Allshouse, Topeka, Kan., Elaine Haider, Mandan, and Joyce Neether, Stanley; five sons, George, Monroe, Wash., Raymond, Tacoma, Wash., Donald, New Rockford, and Dale and Gary, both of Minot; one stepbrother, Mervin Johnson, Watford City; 40 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. She is survived by three sons, Robert, Plaza, David, Parshall, and Thomas, Ryder; two daughters, Sharon Schenfisch, Makoti, and Joan Ottis, Kindred; two brothers, Orville Ulledahl, Bend, Ore., and Vernon Ulledahl, Raymore, Mo.; one sister, Florence Schumacher, Great Falls, Mont.; 18 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
