Hazel D. Tottingham
Funeral services for Hazel D. Tottingham, 90, Enderlin, were held on Saturday, February 1, 2003 at United Methodist Church, Sheldon. Reverend Duane Ferrie officiated. Mrs. Tottingham died on Monday, January 27, 2003 at Maryhill Manor, Enderlin.
Hazel D. McDougall, daughter of Carl C. and Lura A. (French) McDougall, was born April 6, 1912 in Sheldon. She attended Sheldon Public School.
On October 7, 1931, she married Arthur Tottingham in Sheldon. They farmed east of Sheldon, retiring in 1976. They moved into Sheldon and wintered in Apache Junction, Ariz.
She is survived by three sons, Jerry (Janet) Tottingham, Chey-enne, Wyo., Roy (Arlene) Tottingham, Livermore, Calif., and Rex (Pat) Tottingham, Jamestown; two daughters, Marilyn (Eugene) Beck, Fargo, and Margery Divine, Flagstaff, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur Tottingham, who died April 1, 1984; and one brother, Gordon McDougall.
Music was provided by organist Carole Bjugstad and soloist Mary Madsen.
Interment at Sheldon Cemetery, Sheldon.
Armstrong Funeral Home, Enderlin, was in charge of arrangements.

Loren J. Larson
Private family services for Loren J. Larson, 75, North Dakota Veterans Home, Lisbon, are planned for spring 2003 in Valley City. Mr. Larson died Wednesday, January 29, 2003 at Veterans Medical Center, Minneapolis, Minn. A memorial service was held at the North Dakota Veterans Home, Lisbon.
He is survived by two sons, Jay (Diane) Larson, Oriska and Erik (Allison) Larson, Spokane, Wash.; one daughter, Jodie Rae Larson-Bontrager, Oriska; six step-children; 13 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brothers Glenn (Mary Ellen) Larson and Harley Larson and sisters, Enid (Tug), Ikeda and Bertha (Harvey) Laidlaw.

Alf C. Nelson
Funeral services for Alf Conrad Nelson, 96, Valley City, were held on Tuesday, January 28, 2003 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kathryn, N.D. Reverend Bradley Edin officiated. Mr. Nelson died on Thursday, January 23, 2003 at the Sheyenne Care Center, Valley City.
Alf Conrad Nelson was born on January 23, 1907 on the family farm in Nelson Township, Barnes County, N.D. He helped to run the farm from a young age. He went to Coyne Electrical Institute in Chicago, Ill., in the late 1920s and then to North Dakota Agricultural College (now NDSU in Fargo). After his schooling, he worked on the west coast for a logging camp. He then returned to Barnes County where he ran a road grader.
On June 21, 1945, he married Margaret Hoiberg in Valley City. The made their home near Kathryn, where they farmed. Margaret died on December 19, 2002. He served as a Barnes County Commissioner from 1946-1954 and was a Cass County Electric Director from 1954-1978. He also served on the Nelson Township School Board, election boards and other township offices.
He is survived by one daughter, Carol (Larry) Wild, Fargo; four sons, Glen (Evelyn) Nelson, Beavercreek, Ohio, Allan (Sarah) Nelson, Underwood, Iowa, Mark (Joan) Nelson, Brookings, S.D., and Dale Nelson, Kathryn; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lynn and Nanfred Nelson, both rural Valley City; two nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret Nelson; an infant daughter, Mary Lynn Nelson; one brother, Bill Nelson; one sister, Myrtle Olson; and two sisters-in-law, Marie Nelson and Olivia Aase.
Interment will be in the spring at Sheyenne Valley Cemetery.

Evelyn L. Doeling
Funeral services for Evelyn Lorraine Doeling, 92, Carrington, were held on Monday, January 27, 2003 at Grace Lutheran Church, Carrington. Reverend Richard Biberdorf officiated. Mrs. Doeling died on Saturday, January 25, 2003 at Golden Acres Manor, Carrington.
Evelyn Lorraine Doeling, daughter of Herman and Matilda (Froemke) Krueger, was born July 9, 1910 at rural Shenford Township, Ransom County, near Lisbon. She moved with her family to a farm near Sheldon where she grew up and attended school and graduated from the Sheldon High School in 1928. She moved to the Bordulac, N.D., area and worked for the Frank and Alice Schroeder family and met her future husband, George W. Doeling.
On July 19, 1928, she married George W. Doeling in the Evangelical Church southwest of Sheldon. They farmed near Bordulac. She was an active member of the LWML and the Grace Lutheran Church. She was also a 4-H leader. Her husband, George, died on November 9, 1985. She continued to live on the farm until 1996 when she moved into Carrington. Since November 1999, she has resided at the Golden Acres manor of Carrington.
She is survived by three sons, Herman “Dick” (Shirley) Doeling, Edwin (Dolores) Doeling, and Gene (Hannelore) Doeling, all of Carrington; one daughter, Dorothy (Ray) Funden, Newport, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Pearl (Herman) Schroeder, Sheldon, and Herma Hendricks, Berwyn, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Doeling; three sisters, Alice Doeling, Myrtle Ridgewell, and Dorothy Krueger; and one granddaughter, Brenda Kanwischer.
Pallbearers for the funeral were her great grandsons, Charles Messall, Jess Doeling, Nicholas Doeling, Tyler Doeling, Joshua Doeling, Benjamin Doeling and Andrew Doeling.
Music was provided by organist Mary Havala with special music by Dolores Doeling.
Interment at Carrington Cemetery, Carrington.
Evans Funeral Home, Carrington, was in charge of arrangements.

B. Dorothy Sutton
Funeral services for B. Dorothy Sutton, 91, Lisbon, N.D., are being held on Monday, April 14, 2003 at the United Methodist Church, Lisbon. Miss Sutton died Sunday, April 6, 2003 in Evanston, Wyo.
B. Dorothy Sutton, daughter of Harvey and Ellen (Oleson) Sutton was born on May 29, 1911 in Lisbon. She attended grade school and graduated from high school in Lisbon. Following graduation, she attended two years of college at Jamestown College before returning to Lisbon where she worked. She then went to work for the United States Government in Washington, D.C. with the Civil Service for Alcohol and Firearms Tax Division working in Washington, Nebraska, Chicago, Ill. and Minneapolis, Minn. Dorothy retired after 30 years of service in the early 1960s. She returned to Lisbon and spent time in Evanston, Wyo. to be near her family and then returned to Fargo. In 1997 she moved to Evanston. She is survived by her brother, Norwood “Sut” Sutton, Evanston, Wyo.; a niece, Pam Sutton, Salt Lake City, Utah; nephew, Keith Sutton, Evanston, Wyo.
Interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon.

Roy W. Rydquist
Funeral services for Roy W. Rydquist, 86, Spokane, Wash., were held on Tuesday, April 1, 2003 at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home, Spokane, Wash. Mr. Rydquist died Friday, March 28, 2003 at Spokane.
Roy W. Rydquist, son of Charles and Neva Rydquist was born on April 23, 1916 in Turton, S.D. and moved to a farm in Englevale at a young age. He graduated from Cleveland Consolidated High School in 1934 and moved the next year to Helena, Mont., where he worked at the Eddy Bakery Co.
In 1938, he married Marcely Gregg at Great Falls, Mont. Prior to World War II, Mr. Rydquist moved to Seattle, where he worked at the Boeing Airplane plant After the war he moved to Creston, Mont, and lived in the Flathead Valley for more than 20 years. He ran his own dairy farm. In 1960 he moved to Missoula, where he worked at a variety of construction businesses and became a custom home builder. In 1981 he moved to Spokane, where he was the facilities manager for ISC Systems Corp. He retired in 1984 and continued to do finish carpentry and custom cabinet work for several years. She died in 1997.
He is survived by three sons, David (Karen) Rydquist, Rapid City, S.D., Dennis Rydquist, Seattle, Wash., and Gregg (Vicki) Rydquist, Great Falls, Mont.; one daughter, Jody Chambers, Spokane; one sister, Lorraine Wood, Lisbon, two brothers, Orville, Wahpeton and Bill, Woodside, N.Y. and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his his wife, parents, one sister, Ruth and an infant brother.
Interment at Kalispell, Mont.
Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home, Spokane, Wash., was in charge of arrangements.

Arvin A. Amundson
Funeral services for Arvin A. Amundson, 80, Maryhill Manor, Enderlin, were held on Saturday, April 12, 2003 at Armstrong Funeral Home in Enderlin. Reverend Leon Zavadil officiated. Mr. Amundson died Thursday, April 3, 2003 at Maryhill Manor, Enderlin.
Arvin A. Amundson, son of Andrew and Hannah (Hanson) Amundson was born on March 1, 1923, in rural Enderlin. He attended rural Enderlin School.
On November 1, 1944, he married Margaret L. Olerud, in Fort Ransom. They lived in Enderlin until 1949 when they moved to Seattle where Arvin owned Arvin A. Amundson Excavating. They returned to Enderlin in 1957, living on a farm until 1971 when they moved into Enderlin. He worked for Mayo Construction and Collins Construction both of Fargo. Arvin played in the band, Brooder House Four, for several years. He was a member of the Enderlin Senior Citizens. He was a member of Fillmore Lutheran Church, rural Enderlin. She died June 25, 2000.
He is survived by one daughter, Melinda Treitline, Thief River Falls, Minn.; two grandchildren and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Ordell Hilde, Dale Munson, Glen Fuhrman, Ken Treitline, Zach Treitline, and Mark Sax.
Music was provided by organist Verna Armstrong and soloist Jack Armstrong.
Interment at the Enderlin cemetery.
Armstrong Funeral Home, Enderlin, was in charge of arrangements.

Olive Margaret Wunder
Olive Margaret Lindvall Wunder died in a convalescent Hospital in Manteca, Ca. on March 27, 2003. It was her 89th birthday. She was born in Milnor, ND on March 27, 1914. She was the last of nine children born to Frank and Inga Lindvall.
Olive was preceded in death by her husband David Wunder and their three eldest sons, Donald, Darrel and James. She is survived by two sons, Larrie and Marlin Wunder and three daughters, Mary Levi, Laura Morales and Anna Malek. They all reside in Copperopolis, Ca. She also had in excess of eighty grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The Wunder family lived in Lisbon, ND until 1957 when they moved to Hayward, Ca. They relocated in 1987 to Copperopolis, Ca., which is a small community in the scenic Sierra Nevada foothills. She was surrounded by her children and many grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on March 30, 2003 at The Lake Tulloch Bible Church in Copperopolis where she was a member.
