JAMESTOWN -- Helen Ottilia Kranzler, 83, Jamestown, died Dec. 21, 2000, in the Jamestown hospital. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Haut Funeral Home, Jamestown, with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown. She is survived by her husband, Reuben; and one sister, Emma Becker, Jamestown.

Patricia C. Long
RAY -- Patricia C. Long, 60, Ray, died Dec. 22, 2000, in the Williston hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ray Lutheran Church. Further arrangements are pending at Fulkerson Funeral Home, Williston.

Wylma Matheny-Port
Wylma Matheny-Port, 72, Bismarck, died Dec. 23, 2000, in her home after a long battle with cancer. Arrangements are pending at Bismarck Funeral Home.

V. Stanley Olson
V. Stanley "Stan" Olson, 80, 2500 Centennial Road, died Dec. 21, 2000, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Eastgate Funeral Service, with the Rev. Todd Hylden officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Service. He was born March 26, 1920, in Colfax, Wis., the son of Alfred J. and Martha (Tietz) Olson. He graduated from Menomonee Central High School in Menomonee, Wis. He then attended Stout Institute in Menomonee and graduated from Berry College Aviation Academics as a First Lieutenant in Rome, Ga. He served in the P51 35th Fighter Group in the Asian-Pacific Theater. After the service, he owned a business in Barren, Wis., was a salesman for John Leslie Paper Co. in Minneapolis, was a sales broker and an insurance agent in Casper, Wyo., and was associated with Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Bismarck for over 29 years. He is survived by his daughter, Boni Olson, Bismarck; his son, Donald Olson, Lincoln; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Lorraine Devine, Elfreda Burich and Norma and Donald Frenette, all of Chippewa Falls, Wis.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gordon and Lorraine Olson, Mauston, Wis., and Howard and Joan Olson, Chippewa Falls; and Stan's very best friend, Florine Wetzel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, in 1995; his parents; and his brother, Raymond Olson. Stan's passion was golf. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and competitive sports, such as baseball, basketball and football. He dearly loved his children, Boni and Don, and his very best friend and companion, Florine.

Reuben Otto
Reuben Otto, 73, 705 10th Ave. S.W., Mandan, died Dec. 22, 2000, from cancer in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Gary Heaton officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan, with military rites by Mandan American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Tuesday at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan, where a prayer service will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Visitation will continue at the church one hour before services. Reuben was born Sept. 11, 1927, at Chaseley, to Christian and Olga (Retzer) Otto. He was raised on the family farm and educated in rural schools. Reuben married LuElla A. Reinhardt, Dec. 14, 1952, at Robinson, and they moved to Mandan where they made their home and raised their family. A plasterer and cement finisher, he helped construct many homes and commercial buildings in the Mandan and Bismarck area. He was very meticulous in his work and was proud of a finishing job done right and done well. A veteran of World War II, Reuben served in the U.S. Army as an MP in occupied Japan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and being with his family. He was also the business agent for Cement Finisher Local 1983, and a member of VFW. Gone with the angels, he leaves behind a loving wife of 49 years, LuElla; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Charlotte Schatz, Denver, Judy and Rick Burns, Glendive, Mont., Connie and Jesse Navarro, Hutchinson, Kan., Jane and Pete Moyer, Mandan, and Janice and Rod Braun, Lincoln; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Linda Schick, Petibone, Leona and Rodney Magnuson, Carrington, and Phyllis Heibert, Newport, Wash.; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Richard and Margaret Otto, Bowdon, Jake Otto, Billings, Robert and Lelo Otto, Levingsworth, Wash., and John and Sharon Otto, Erie; 11 grandchildren, Jeremy, Bradley and April Schatz, Kristyne Burns, Jesse Schaff, Darick and Mario Navarro, Emily and Megan Moyer, Carlee Ann and Baby Braun; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Reuben, LeRoy, Walter and Edward; and three sisters, Alice, Phyllis and Lydia.

Lucille Rask
Lucille Rask, 79, Mandan, died Dec. 23, 2000, in a Bismarck care center. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church, Mandan. Further arrangements are pending at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan.

Richard Durkop
Richard Durkop, 80, Antigo, Wis., and formerly of North Dakota, died Dec. 15, 2000 in Antigo. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; two daughters, Sue Horner, Birnamwood, Wis., and Tammi Folmar, Narvon, Pa.; two sons, George, Lake City, Fla., and Tim, Spokane, Wash.; six grandchildren; and three sisters, Adelide Kniebes, Waupaca, Wis., Thelma Morse, Beloit, Wis., and Nathalie Pearcy, Beloit. LAMOURE -- Ethel Erickson, 89, LaMoure, formerly of Kulm, died Dec. 17, 2000 in a LaMoure care center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at Assembly of God Church, Kulm. Further arrangements are pending with Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Kulm.

NEW TOWN -- Joe S. Face, 80, New Town, died Dec. 17, 2000 in a Minot hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, at Red Butte Hall, Mandaree. Further arrangements are pending with Johnson Funeral Home, New Town.

Hilman Hjelmstad
Hilman Hjelmstad, 85, 427 S. Washington St., Bismarck, died Dec. 17, 2000 at a local hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Boelter Funeral Home, Bismarck, with the Rev. John Kuhn officiating. Military graveside services by the VFW will be conducted at the ND Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan. Visitation will be held from 2-9 p.m. today, at the funeral home, where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Wednesday. He was born June 23, 1915, at Reynolds, the son of Jens and Hannah (Agotness) Hjelmstad. He graduated from Reynolds High School and then attended Mayville State Teachers College in 1933-1934. Hilman married Lucille Johnson in 1940 and died in 1941. He entered the United States Army in November, 1942, and was stationed at Ft. Snelling, Minn., and Greeley, Colo., and served in the European Theater until November, 1945. In 1952, he married Genevieve Hollarn in Grand Forks. He entered the Counselor Training Program at Hazelden Foundation in July, 1966. In 1967, he accepted a position as Director of Alcohol & Addiction Services in Williston and served in that capacity until his retirement in 1980. He was instrumental in establishing the Day Treatment Program for the chemically dependent and the Youth Chemical Abuse Program. He started the Counter Measure Program for drinking drivers. In 1983, in recognition of his services, he was presented the Outstanding Award for his overall service to addicted persons with specific recognition for conceiving, establishing and maintaining the Day Treatment Program at the Center. This award was presented by the Division of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, North Dakota Department of Human Services. In October, 1989, the Northwest Human Service Center expanded its treatment program to include an eight-bed facility for the chemically dependent. In recognition of Mr. Hjelmstad pioneering efforts and foresight, this facility was named in his honor and is called "The Hilman House." Hilman was a member of the American Legion, AmVets, VFW, and St. Mary's Catholic Church. After retirement, Hilman spent several years traveling with Gen across America enjoying visits with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Genevieve; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Richard McConnell, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Sari and Michael Pailing, Bismarck; two sons, T. Craig, Winfield, British Columbia, and Neil, Bismarck; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Pearl Gilbertson, Grand Forks. Hilman was preceded in death by one brother, three sisters and three grandchildren. Memorials are preferred to the N.D. Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. (Boelter Funeral Home, Bismarck)

LINTON -- Jacob Jangula Jr., 70, Linton, died Dec. 18, 2000 in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Linton. Further arrangements are pending with Myers Funeral Home, Linton.

CARRINGTON -- Olga Landon, 87, Carrington, died Dec. 17, 2000 at her home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington.

Gerald Liebelt
Gerald Liebelt, 65, Bismarck, died Dec. 17, 2000 at his home. Arrangements are pending with Bismarck Funeral Home.

Hilda Neugebauer
Hilda Neugebauer, 91, Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck, and formerly of Menoken, died Dec. 17, 2000 at a local hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at Boelter Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dale Naaben officiating. Burial will be in the spring at St. Mary's Cemetery. Public visitation will be from noon-9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday, both at Boelter Funeral Home. She was born Oct. 12, 1909, in Estherville Township, Burleigh County, the daughter of David and Hulda (Backman) Ghylin. She was raised and educated in Estherville Township. SHe spent part of her childhood in the State of Washington at Newman Lake in 1912, and again at Four Lakes in 1920. She was employed in Bismarck from 1934 to 1939. Hilda married Arnold Neugebauer of Menoken on Dec. 28, 1939. Following their marriage, they lived on the family farm three miles north of Menoken, until Arnold's death in 1990. In 1992, Hilda moved to Bismarck. She kept the family records through her collection of scrapbooks and photo albums. She enjoyed photography and baking. Hilda is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Marlys and Ray Frandsen, Bismarck; one son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Darla, Menoken; five grandchildren, Bill Frandsen, Fargo, Darin and Tricia Neugebauer and their son, Drighten, Bismarck, Brice Neugebauer, Menoken, Tessa Neugebauer, New York, N.Y., and Michael Neugebauer, Bismarck; one sister, Dena Ghylin, Regan, and one brother, Don Ghylin, Regan. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Maureen; one granddaughter, Michelle; one grandson, Ryan; one great-grandson, Devin; three sisters, Elsie Bierman, Lillian Jeschke, and June Krause; and one infant brother. Katherine Neumiller
Katherine Neumiller, 100, Bismarck, died Dec. 16, 2000, in a Bismarck care center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Kermit Culver officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will continue at the church one hour before services. Katherine "Katie" Klein was born in Schaumbale, Russia, on March 20, 1900, the daughter of Daniel and Charlotte (Schuckmeier) Klein. In 1911, Katie and her family immigrated to the United States and settled in the Mercer area. On March 23, 1919, she married Christ Neumiller at Mercer. They settled on the family homestead south of Mercer. In 1947 they moved to Bismarck. Katie was employed at Master Cleaners and as a cook at the Baptist Home. She loved to bake and always had many goodies for her children, grandchildren and many friends when they would stop to visit. Katie is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Ted and Alice Neumiller, Turtle Lake, and Harold and Marlys Neumiller, Bismarck; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Ruth and Ted Kurle, Mercer, Ruby Schlafman, Stanton, and Martha and Reuben Schlafman, Jamestown; one sister, Rose Stacy, Bismarck; three half-brothers, Herman Klein, Louie Klein and Ted Klein, all of Bismarck; three half-sisters, Bertha Peacher, Hilda Mraz and Lena Bitterman, all of Oregon; 31 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Christ; two sons; two daughters; two sons-in-law; two daughters-in-law; four sisters; two half-brothers; two granddaughters; and two great-grandsons.

Hugo G. Tebelius
BOWDON -- Hugo G. Tebelius, 72, Bowdon, died Dec. 18, 2000 at his home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at Bowdon Country Seventh-day Adventist Church, rural Bowdon, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Ruby; one daughter, Brenda Eichele, rural Harvey; two sons, Brian and Jon, both of rural Bowdon; five grandchildren; one sister, Dolores Suckut, Bowdon; and one brother, Larry, Napoleon. Leonard A. Weible, 72, St. Paul, Minn., died Dec. 8, 2000 at his home. Private burial was in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. He is survived by four brothers, Herbert, Oak Harbor, Wash., Ingwald, Casper, Wyo., Bennie, Minot, and Charles, West Fargo; and two sisters, Thelma Garner, Farmington, N.M., and Mable Meyer, Mandan.
