Alberta McQueen
Alberta McQueen, 84, 215 Arbor Avenue No. 307, Bismarck, died May 18, 2000 in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at First Presbyterian Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Jake Kincaid officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in the Wildrose Cemetery, Berthold. Visitation begins from 1-9 p.m. today at Perry Funeral Home, and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church. Alberta was born Dec. 2, 1915 at Breckenridge, Minn., to Lawrence and Wilhelmina (Gaylord) Andersen. She had a joyous life! God blessed her with a happy childhood, loving parents, a happy long marriage and many friends. Her early life was spent in Hendrum, Minn., where she attended grade school. In 1929, her parents moved to Egeland where she graduated from high school. Later she attended Minot State Teacher's College and earned her teaching certificate. For two years she taught the primary grades in Wolford, N.D., where she met and married Dean McQueen. They were married for 58 years. During those years, they lived in Wolford, Jamestown, Fargo, Minneapolis and Bismarck. While her husband served in the Army during WWII, she became ill and later spent four years in the state tuberculosis sanitarium at San Haven. She is survived by nieces, Ruth Bright, Rolette, Janet Leonard, Green River, Wyo., Barbara Anderson, Hamilton, Mont., Susan Osland, Breckenridge, Minn., and Karen Hoshia, Airmont, N.Y.; her nephews, Brian Larson, Bismarck, Bradley Larson, Mandan, Keith Mueller, Ace, Texas, Dean Neuman, Livingston, N.J.; and many grand-nieces and nephews. Alberta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dean; and one sister, Lillian; and three sisters-in-law. (Perry Funeral Home, Mandan)

Clara Sayler
GARRISON -- Clara Sayler, 82, Garrison, died May 17, 2000 in a Scobey, Mont., nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at United Church of Christ, Garrison. Further arrangements are pending with Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison.

Art Belland
NEW ENGLAND -- Art Belland, 73, New England, died April 7, 2000, in his home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Wednesday at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church, New England, with burial in Rainy Butte Lutheran Cemetery, rural New England. He is survived by his wife, Fern; sons, Terrence, Bellevue, Wash., Timothy, Drake, Dwight, New England; daughters, LuAnna Reller, Lakeworth, Fla., and Linda Reller, Bismarck; one brother, Rueben, New England; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Barbara Billman
DICKINSON -- Barbara Billman, 91, Dickinson, died April 7, 2000, in a Dickinson nursing home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Dickinson, with burial in the church cemetery. She is survived by three daughters, Lorraine Frank, New England, Leona Rice, Dickinson, and Mary Ann Polensky, Dickinson; five sons, John, Sturgeon Lake, Minn., Herbert and Joe, both of Dickinson, Richard, Graham, Wash., and Leo, Bismarck; 25 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one sister, Eva Hirsch, Alpine, Ore.; and three brothers, Jacob and George Weiler, both of Dickinson, and Henry Weiler, New England. Esther Bloedau
MOTT -- Esther Bloedau, 87, Mott, died April 5, 2000, in a Bismarck care center. Services will be held at 11 a.m. MDT Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mott, with the Rev. Albers officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan. Esther was born Jan. 13, 1913, the daughter of Ole H. and Edna (Alness) Opland. She was raised and educated in Mott, graduating from Mott High School in1931 and from North Dakota State University in home economics in1935. She taught at Dickinson High School for several years. In 1944, she went to Hawaii and was with the Hawaii Agriculture Extension Service at the University of Honolulu. She returned in 1949 to attend Oregon State University at Corvallis, Ore., where she received her home economic masters degree. Esther later was in the state vocational home economics department at the University of Arizona in Phoenix. Esther married R.J. Bloedau on April 17, 1951, at the Grand Canyon in Arizona. They made their home in Mott. He passed away in September 1998. Esther served as state president for North Dakota Home Economics Association in 1967 and for the North Dakota Bar Association Auxiliary. She was also the state chairman of Alpha Gamma Delta. She loved to entertain friends and family, bake cookies and make jelly. She loved to play cards and was an excellent bridge player. Esther and her husband were world travelers. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran church in Mott,and a 50-year member of Eastern Star. She is survived by two sisters, Cora Bakken, Denver, and Stella Ebert, Clarkston, Wash.; four nieces and two nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Shriner's Childrens Hospital, Trinity Lutheran Church, Mott, or the cancer fund. (Bismarck Funeral Home)

WILLISTON -- Mary Bruegger, 86, Williston, died April 9, 2000, in the Williston nursing home. Arrangements are pending at Everson Funeral Home, Williston.

Bryce Cotton
WILLISTON -- Bryce Cotton, the infant son of David Stensaker and Teresa Cotton, Williston, died April 7, 2000, of natural causes. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Williston. Further arrangements are pending at Everson Funeral Home, Williston.

George Braun
George Braun, 83, Bismarck, died Dec. 18, 2000 in a Bismarck nursing home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Charles Heidt officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans' Cemetery, Mandan, with military rites provided by the Bismarck American Legion Lloyd Spetz Post No. 1 and VFW Post No. 1326. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. today at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with a parish rosary and vigil at 7 p.m. tonight. Visitation will continue from 10-11 a.m. Thursday, at the church. George Braun was born June 22, 1917 in Napoleon. He was the son of Frank and Marcellina (Getz) Braun. George was raised on the family farm and educated in rural schools at Napoleon. He moved to Bismarck, where he lived for a short while prior to joining the Army in September 1941. He served with the Battery C and 979th Artillery as a truck and ambulance driver and tank gunner in the European Theater during World War II and was involved in several major battles including the Battle of the Bulge, the Normandy Invasion, and the Liberation of Paris. George was awarded the European, African and Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal, also the American Theater Service Medal, three Overseas Service Bars, No Time Lost Under Heavy Artillery AW 107, and the Good Conduct Medal. He received his Honorable Discharge from the Army on Oct. 5, 1945. On Sept. 29, 1948, he married Ann Miller at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan. He was employed by PV Elevator, Sweetheart Bakery and retired in 1982 as a Correctional Officer at the N.D. State Penitentiary. George was an active member of St. Mary's Church and a member of the American Legion. In later years, he enjoyed fellowship and card games at the Bismarck Senior Center. His number one priority in his life was his family. He is survived by his wife, Ann; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Dennis (Gabi), Bismarck, Mickey, Council Bluffs, Iowa, Jim, Bloomington, Minn., and Tom (Dawn), Bismarck; two daughters and sons-in-law, Paula (Luke) Schmidt, Mandan, and Judy (Gary) Davis, Bismarck; nine grandchildren, Damon Schmidt, Ft. Wayne, Ind., Sarah Schmidt, Mandan, Nicholas and Lydia Davis, Bismarck, Amanda, Jesse and Melissa Mosbrucker, and Ashley Braun, Bismarck; Christopher Braun, Bismarck; three brothers, Jacob, Bismarck, Martin, Ely, Nev., and Clem, Coulee Dam, Wash.; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Tony, Joseph, Sebastian and Wendelin; and three sisters, Eva Roether, Theresa Welder and Maggie Miller; one granddaughter, Candy Thomas, and one grandson, Mitchell Davis. WILLISTON -- Tom Collings, 48, Williston, died Dec. 18, 2000 at his home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church, Williston. Further arrangements are pending with Everson Funeral Home, Williston.

Ethel Erickson
LAMOURE -- Ethel Erickson, 89, LaMoure, died Dec. 17, 2000 in a LaMoure Care Center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at Assembly of God Church, Kulm. Burial will be in the church cemetery. She is survived by one daughter, Irene Runkle, Port Charlotte, Fla.; three sons, Don, Kulm, Mel, Minot, and Warren, Chehalis, Wash.; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Schlecht and Marjorie Trask; and three brothers, Arnold, Ray and Arne Loven. Joe Face
NEW TOWN -- Joe Face, 80, New Town, died Dec. 17, 2000 in a Minot hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, at Red Butte Hall, Mandaree. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, near Mandaree. He is survived by one daughter, Josephine White Feather, Bemidji, Minn. (Johnson Funeral Home, New Town)

DICKINSON -- Thomas Freer, 62, Dickinson, died Dec. 18, 2000 in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST today at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Dickinson, with entombment in Dickinson Mausoleum. He is survived by his mother, Susanna Freer, Dickinson; three sons, Tracy Freer, Devils Lake, Chad Barta, Bismarck, and Jerry Freer, Dickinson; two daughters, Cristie Freer, Dickinson, and Candace Freer, Bismarck; and three grandsons. Gilmond Arusell
FESSENDEN -- Gilmond Arusell, 79, Fessenden, died Dec. 19, 2000, in a Minot hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church, Fessenden, with burial in Hillside Cemetery, Fessenden. Edna Bruce
WILLISTON -- Edna Bruce, 73, Williston, died Dec. 21, 2000, in her home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Williston, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, Williston. She is survived by six sons, John Jr. and Darrel Peltier, both of Washington, Leonard Peltier, Williston, Mike Peltier, Epping, Dennis Peltier, Belcourt and Brian Cerkoney, Williston; five daughters, Dolores Trent, Williston, Jeanitta Johnson and Betty Stomley, both of Epping, and April Brenden and Carol Hollis, both of Washington; and one brother, Leo Bruce, Washington. Amy Jae Christofferson
Amy Jae Christofferson, the infant daughter of Curt and Jolene Christofferson, Bismarck, died Dec. 21, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Napoleon, with burial in St. Philip Neri Catholic Cemetery, Napoleon. She is survived by her parents, Curt and Jolene Christofferson, Bismarck; two sisters, Emily Shea, and her twin sister, Abby Mae Christofferson; her grandparents, Joe and Irene Kuhn, Napoleon, and Dennis and Judy Christofferson, Fargo; and her great-grandmother, Berna Christofferson, Tolna.

Merle Anderson
Merle Anderson, 70, 215 W. Turnpike Ave., died of cancer, Dec. 23, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at noon Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Todd Hylden officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan, with military rites provided by VFW Post 1326. Visitation will be from noon-9 p.m. Tuesday at Boelter Funeral Home, and will continue at the church one hour before services. Merle was born Jan. 5, 1930, at Roseglen, the son of Oscar and Sigrid (Paulson) Anderson. He was raised and educated in Roseglen, graduating from Ryder High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1948-1952. Merle married Joyce L. Weigel on May 25, 1953, at Minot. He worked as an electrician and farmed until 1955, then moved to Hazen in 1955, where they made their home and raised their family. He worked for Consolidation Coal Co. from 1955 until his retirement in 1985. In 1986, they moved to Bismarck. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and being with his family and friends. Merle is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joyce; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Peter and DeNae, Mandan, Perry, Mandan, and Owen, Wenatchee, Wash.; one daughter and son-in-law, Barb and Mike Swanson, Hazen; three grandchildren, Kristopher Anderson, Erika Anderson and Michael Anderson; his mother, Sigrid Anderson, Starbuck, Minn.; one brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Ginny, Glenwood, Minn.; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Bernice and Clarence Thompson, Minneapolis, and Phyllis Townsend, Rapid City, S.D. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Kandace Kay; his father, Oscar Anderson; one brother, Verdell; and two sisters, Mavis Berg and LaVone Kerzman.

Elma R. Barth
Elma R. Barth, 70, 1832 Masterson St., died Dec. 23, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Thomas Marcis officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Tuesday at Perry Funeral Home, Mandna, where a prayer service will begin at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Visitation will continue at the church one hour before services. Elma was born June 7, 1930, at Hazen, to Edward and Martha (Zuern) Knoell. She was raised and educated at Hazen. She married Reuben Schmidt, Aug. 1, 1948, at Hazen. He died in 1971. She married Richard T. Barth at Bismarck, March 16, 1972. Elma rode school bus for Bismarck Public Schools until her retirement. She loved quilting, shopping and garage sales. She is survived by her husband, Richard; six daughters and five sons-in-law, Rita and Jim Schmidt, Sharon and Mike Wolf, Bonita Schmidt and Leon Bohe, Debra and Terry Hoerer, Darla and Wayne Ratzak, and Candida and Tom Rhoades, all of Bismarck; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Glenn Schmidt, Bismarck, Gary Schmidt and Lori Gilman, St. Louis, Mo., Dale and Tracy Barth, Dickinson, and Gene and Cheryl Schmidt, Bismarck; one brother and three sisters-in-law, Gerold and Karen Knoell, Hazen, Maryann Orrt, Minnesota, and Shirley Knoell, Butte, Mont.; and 24 grandchildren. Elma was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Ervin and LeRoy.

GARRISON -- LeRoy Eslinger, 73, Garrison, died Dec. 24, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Further arrangements are pending at Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison.
