GOODRICH -- Kasy Fandrich, 13, Goodrich, died Dec. 22, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital of natural causes. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Goodrich, with burial in Goodrich Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky. Kasy was born May 28, 1987, in Bismarck, the son of John and Tamra (Gross) Fandrich. Kasy grew up and attended school in Goodrich. He was currently in the seventh grade. Kasy loved to spend time with friends and family. He had a special bond with his brother, Kyle. Kasy enjoyed school and being with his classmates. Kasy is survived by his parents; his brother, Kyle, Goodrich; his grandmother, Janice Schock and step-grandfather, Rudy Schock, Underwood; his grandfather, Dallas Gross and step-grandmother, Iris Gross, Morristown, S.D.; and his grandparents, Roy and Lucille Fandrich, Manfred; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Cody Patrick Feist
ENDERLIN -- Cody Patrick Feist, 24, Enderlin, died Dec. 22, 2000, in an automobile accident accident. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Strasburg. He is survived by his parents, Pat and Mary Feist, Minnewaukan; one sister, Amber Feist, Fargo; and his grandparents, Andy and Rita Feist, Linton, and O.R. and Delores Miller, Strasburg. Joyce Fleck
RYDER -- Joyce Fleck, 66, Ryder, died Dec. 22, 2000, in Ryder. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Presbyterian Church, Ryder, with burial in Ryder Cemetery. She is survived by four sons, Timothy, Lakeland, Fla., Terry, Westhope, Larry and Scott, both of Garrison; two daughters, Nancy Arcand, Williston, and Marla Huesers, Surrey; her stepchildren, Robert and Tom Dewitz and Kenneth Fleck; her mother, Laura Erb, Minot; one brother, Gerald Erb, Dalton, Maine; three sisters, Olive Boots and Shirley Schlieve, both of Minot, and Sheryl Tolson, Cool, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Orvin A. Foss
Orvin A. Foss, 85, Bismarck, died Dec. 23, 2000, in a Bismarck care center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck. Further arrangements are pending at Eastgate Funeral Service.

BOWMAN -- Steve R. Bloomgren, 51, Bowman, died Dec. 24, 2000, in his home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Thursday at Bowman Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife, Sheri; his parents, Ernest and Opal Bloomgren, Bowman; three sons, Jason, Dickinson, Justin, Bowman, and Jared, Bismarck; three sisters, Dorothy Kohlmeier, Battle Lake, Minn., Bette Tooley, New London, Wis., and Cathy Wanderaas, Vida, Mont.; two brothers, Mike, Rhame, and Arley, Mandan; and two grandchildren. Maurice Brandvold
GLENFIELD -- Maurice Brandvold, 75, Glenfield, died Dec. 23, 2000, in the Carrington care center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Glenfield Lutheran Church, with burial in Glenfield Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Ninie; one stepson, Arvid Skundberg, Benson, Minn.; one step-grandson; one brother, Leslie, Kathryn; and one sister, Verna Thoreson, Valley City. Peter Deane
NEW TOWN -- Peter Deane, 76, New Town, died Dec. 22, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, New Town. Further arrangements are pending at Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison.

Orvin A. Foss
Orvin A. Foss, 85, Bismarck, died Dec. 23, 2000, in a Bismarck care center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Todd Hylden officiating. Burial will be in Bethany Lutheran Cemetery, Finley. Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. today and 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Wednesday at Eastgate Funeral Service, and will continue at the church one hour before services. Orvin was born Nov. 7, 1915, near Finley, in Steele County, the son of Olaus and Nellie (Braaten) Foss. He attended rural schools and graduated from Finley High School in 1935. He married Jeanette Holmen from Sharon, in 1941, at the Portland, N.D. parsonage. From 1945-1946, he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S. Monrovia on the Pacific Front. After his discharge from the Navy, he farmed the family homestead for a number of years, then worked for the Steele County Government and later Sheyenne Valley Electric in Finley. Orvin and Jeanette moved to Bismarck in 1970, where he worked at the North Dakota State Laboratory, then for H.A. Thompson and Sons for 17 years, retiring at age 75. Orvin's greatest loves were his family and friends; spending time at his farm in Golden Lake, and reminiscing with his old friends. Everyone knew him as a kind and gentle man who spent his life caring about others. He was a good and proud Norwegian who especially prided himself at being a champion whist and pinochle player. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion, VFW and Eagles Club. Orvin is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jeanette; one daughter, Jennifer Egan, Wilton; one grandson, Patrick Egan, Fargo; one sister, Edith Strand, Mayville; his special friend, Jeff "J.J." Kottenbrock and his family; and many nieces and nephews. Orvin was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Harry, Ellert and Noble; three sisters, Ovedia, Geneva and Mabel; one son-in-law, John Egan; and many old friends.

Marthella I. Gordon
WILLISTON -- Marthella I. Gordon, 78, Williston, died Dec. 23, 2000, in her home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at First Union Church, Williston. She is survived by her husband, Tude; one son, Douglas, Lander, Wyo.; one daughter, Vicky Berger, Williston; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Marjorie Worthington, Plentywood, Mont., and Beverly Pollock, Casper, Wyo. RIVERDALE -- Merle Huckstep, 74, Riverdale, died Dec. 24, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending at Bismarck Funeral Home.

Phyllis Johnson
WILLISTON -- Phyllis Skogen Johnson, 51, Williston, died Dec. 23, 2000, in the Williston hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Williston. Further arrangements are pending at Fulkerson Funeral Home, Williston.

Dale Kling
KELDRON, S.D. -- Dale Kling, 77, Keldron, died Dec. 24, 2000, in the Lemmon hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. MST Wednesday at Prairie Hills Church of God, Lemmon, with burial in Greenhill Cemetery, Lemmon. He is survived by his wife, Jean; one daughter, Veta Peterson, Rapid City; two sons, Lyle, Keldron, and Gene, Lemmon; four grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; one great-grandson; one sister, Emma Storm, Lemmon; and five brothers, Marvin and Ray, both of Thunder Hawk, Walter, Axtel, Utah, Donald, West Jordan, Utah, and Bernard, Keldron. LEMMON, S.D. -- Doris A. Knutson, 66, Lemmon, died suddenly Dec. 22, 2000, in her winter home in Apache Junction, Ariz. Arrangements are pending at Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Lemmon.

Wylma Matheny-Port
Wylma Matheny-Port, 72, Bismarck, died Dec. 23, 2000, in her home after a long battle with cancer. The celebration of life for Wylma Matheny-Port will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at United Church of Christ, Bismarck, with the Revs. Jim Moos and Dale Carmen officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Garrison Cemetery, with a coffee hour following the burial at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garrison. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. today at Bismarck Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Jim Anderson, Dave Anderson, Paul Woiwode, Dan Johannes, Paul Johannes and Doyle Johannes, all nephews of Wylma. Honorary pallbearers will be her many friends and family. Wylma Wolters was born May 25, 1928, in Swan River Township in Morrison County, Minn. As the fifth child born to Myrtle and James W. Wolters, she grew up on the family farm and attended rural country school near her home in Little Falls. She attended high school in Little Falls and went on to attend St. Paul Bible College for two years. Upon graduation from college, she came to North Dakota to teach school and it was there that she met her future husband. She married Gordon Matheny of Emmet on June 18, 1950, and they made their home on the Matheny family farmstead at Emmet. Together, they raised four children. Wylma enjoyed homemaking, but also kept very busy on the farm. She was an active member of the Blackwater Boosters Homemaker Club, holding every county office there was and also served on the State Board for six years. In May 2000, she attended the state convention of the Family and Community Education (formerly Extension Homemakers) at Dickinson, and received her 50-year merit award for outstanding service to the extension service. The Blackwater Boosters also met this summer for a reunion. She was alsoa 4-H leader for 27 years. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and vacation Bible school teacher. Teaching VBS was extremely special to her because as a little girl she dedicated her life to Christ there. She also was active with the ladies aid group at St. Peter's and helped to make quilts to send to missions. She served as a band parent while her children were in school and attended PTA meetings. The family also hosted several foreign exchange students. Wylma served on the McLean County Manor Board for four years, succeeding Gordon's term after he passed away suddenly in December 1982. Her daughter, JoAnn Matheny-Vetsch passed away 10 days later. Three years later, she decided to leave the Matheny family farm and move to Bismarck. She became acquainted with Don Port of rural Selfridge as she had met Don several years before when on a Homemaker's bus trip to a national extension meeting. Wylma, along with his first wife, Pat, served on the North Dakota Extension Homemaker's Board of Directors together. Donlost his first wife to cancer in 1986. Don and Wylma were married Jan. 2, 1987, and lived on the Port ranch in rural Selfridge. While in the Selfridge area, Wylma was a member of the Sioux County Homemakers and also the Grant County Homemakers Clubs. She and Don were members of the Flasher United Church of Christ. Wylma will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She'll be remembered for trying anything from snowmobiling, tobogganing, inner tubing or giving her grandkids underdogs on the swings. Her future ambition was to skydive. Grateful to have shared her life are her husband, Don Port, Bismarck; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Gary and Ann Matheny, and Bruce Matheny, all of Garrison; and one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Barry Mehlhoff, Wheatland, Wyo. Survivors also include four stepdaughters and stepsons-in-law whom she loved as her own, Charlotte and Wyman Archambault, Fort Yates, Sharon and Chuck Curtiss, Mandan, Harriet and Jeff Kellerman, Sartell, Minn., and Audrey and Ed Boger, Stanley. Grandchildren include Candy Mautz, Matthew and Mark Matheny, Kristi, Alicia and Ryan Mehlhoff, Becky, Russell, Melissa and Chuck Archambault, Carl, Eric and Sarah Curtiss, Hannah Kellerman, and Jessica and Kyle Boger. She also has one great-granddaughter and five step-great-grandchildren. Two brothers and three sisters survive her, Wanda Dickson, Sauk Rapids, Minn., Thelma and Rowena Johannes, Underwood, Roderick, Mesa, Ariz., and Milton Wolters, Rome, N.Y. Preceding her in death were her first husband, Gordon; one daughter, JoAnn Matheny-Vetsch; her granddaughter, Nicole; and her brothers, Richard Wolters. Memorials can be sent in Wylma's name to the United Church of Christ or St. Alexius Hospice.

Michael R. Osterlund
Michael R. Osterlund, 46, 1119 University Drive, died Dec. 24, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan.

Monica Paul
Monica Paul, 82, Mandan, died Dec. 25, 2000, in a Mandan nursing home. Arrangements are pending at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan.

Lucille Rask
Lucille Rask, 79, Mandan, died Dec. 23, 2000, in a Bismarck care center. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Charles Axness officiating. Burial will be in Stone Cemetery, southwest of Mandan. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Wednesday at 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan. There will be no visitation at the church. Lucille was born Aug. 2, 1921, at Dickinson, the daughter of Thomas and Elsie (Seiferth) Haugen. Raised and educated in the Stone Community, southwest of Mandan, she married Carl W. Rask on Dec. 8, 1939, in the basement of the Stone Lutheran Church. Carl and Lucille worked and farmed on the land he bought that year for their entire married life. Lucille was a devoted wife and mother and always thought first of the welfare of others. She will be remembered for her easy going sociability and her kindness to everyone she met. Lucille was an excellent cook, baker and seamstress. An active member of First Lutheran Church in Mandan after the Stone Church was closed, she was often to be found quilting with the ladies of the church. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and James Dunn, Bismarck, and Caren and Richard Mikesell, Livingston, Mont.; her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Jean, Bismarck; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice and Grant Unkenholz, Breckenridge, Minn., and Evelyn and Edwin Hunke, Bismarck; and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Albert and Joyce Haugen, Eagle River, Wis., Herb and Julie Haugen, and Floyd Haugen, all of Bismarck. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl, who died on Sept. 20, 1996; her son, Terry; and her granddaughter, Cristi.

Evelyn L. Berger
BRINSMADE -- Evelyn L. Berger, 81, rural Brinsmade, died Feb. 16, 2000 in the Rugby hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Lebanon Free Lutheran Church, Leeds. Further arrangements are pending with Nelson Funeral Home, Leeds.
