Helen Myrtle Turner
Helen Myrtle Turner, 91, Underwood, formerly of Bismarck, died Feb. 13, 2000. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Todd Hylden officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be from noon-9 p.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Service, and will continue at the church one hour before services. An Eastern Star prayer service will begin at 7 tonight at the funeral home. Myrtle Johnson was born March 6, 1908, in Bismarck, the daughter of Harry and Caroline (Satter) Johnson. She was raised and educated in Bismarck, and graduated from Bismarck High School in 1928. Myrtle married Walter L. Turner in 1928. She was employed at A.W. Lucas Dress Store for many years. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and of Order of Eastern Star for many years. She is survived by one daughter, Shirley Schwichtenberg, Bismarck; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Korliss, and Ron and Laurie, all of Bismarck; seven grandchildren, Paul Schwichtenberg and his wife, Barbara, Huffmann, Texas, Jan Pollack, Tigard, Ore., Mick Turner and his wife, Tonya, all of Mandan, Nicole Turner, Wayzata, Minn., Christie Turner, Mark Turner and Luke Turner, all of Bismarck; and one great-grandchild, Tyler Taix, Mandan. Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers, Lester and Howard; and one son-in-law, Doug Schwichtenberg. The family prefers memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church or Order of Eastern Star.

Mary Jean Renwald
Sister Mary Jean Renwald, 83, a founding member of the Benedictine Sisters of Annunciation Monastery, died Feb. 11, 2000, in a Bismarck nursing home. Services will be held at 5 p.m. Monday at the chapel of Annunciation Priory. Visitation will begin at 4:30 p.m. today at the monastery, where a wake service will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday. Visitation will continue until service time. Sister Mary Jean was an inspiration to many people. For 22 years she lived in a body disabled by a stroke, yet her indomitable spirit and eagerness for all that life offered endeared her to many. With a twinkle in her eye and an affectionate smile, Sister Mary Jean was a kind and gracious woman. She showed gratitude to all, especially her caregivers. She lived for some years in a Garrison nursing center, where her deep faith and trust in God helped make life meaningful for others. She was active in resident life and enjoyed visiting and praying with residents. Kathryn Renwald was born March 23, 1916, in Minot, the 10th of 11 children of Theodore and Wilhelmina Renwald. She entered St. Benedict's Monastery, St. Joseph, Minn., and made monastic vows on July 11, 1940. She taught in schools in Gladstone, Mott and Mandan, and cared for the elderly at St. Benedict's Home in Dickinson. She worked in the dietary department at St. Alexius Medical Center and in housekeeping and laundry at Annunciation Monastery. She is survived by one sister, May Pellegrini, South Pasadena, Calif.; one brother-in-law, Omer Connor, St. Paul, Minn.; and the Sisters of Annunciation Monastery. (Boelter Funeral Home)

Bette Rader, 80, died Dec. 26, 2000, in Lombard, Ill. Services will be held at Sacred Heart Church, Lombard. Bette was born April 21, 1920 in St. Anthony, N.D., to Joseph and Magdalena (Graner) Miller. She graduated from Mandan High School and St. Alexius School of Nursing. She married Edward F. Rader, who along with a son, Edward, preceded her in death. Surviving children are Dr. Ralph Rader, DDS, Margaret Gargas and Mary Rader. Also surviving are several grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Vivian Miller, Mandan; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Paul (Donna) Miller, Huff; and her sister, Madeline Jocewicz, Phoenix. David E. Smith Jr., 21, Bismarck, died Dec. 22, 2000, as the result of an automobile accident in Mandan. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, St. Michael. Esther Stork
Esther Stork, 88, Aurora, Colo., died Dec. 25, 2000, in an Aurora hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. MST Friday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Aurora, with the Rev. Joseph Sirba officiating. Burial will be in Bertha Cemetery, Bertha, Minn. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home, Aurora, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church. Esther was born June 3, 1912 in Eagle Bend, Minn., to John and Emma (Marsh) Chevalier. She attended school in Shevlin, Minn. On Oct. 27, 1934 she married Walter Stork in Shevlin. She worked as a waitress in Wadena at the Pine Cove Inn. She and her husband farmed in Bertha before becoming owner/operator of the West Side Cafe in Wadena. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bertha and was a part of the church CCW. She was also a member at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Wadena and Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Aurora. She is survived by one son, Mervin (Joann), Mandan; one daughter, Arlene (Richard) Thieling, Aurora; one brother, Ernest (Laura) Chevalier, Bagley, Minn.; one sister, Mary Anderson, Solwai, Minn.; five grandchildren, Brian Stork, Corona, Calif., Bradley (Becky) Stork, and Barbara Stork, all of Bismarck, John Thieling, Denver, and Theresa Thieling, Aurora; and one great-granddaughter, Sydney Stork, Bismarck. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter; one brother, Joseph; and one sister, Gertrude Lease.
