Daniel L. Throlson
Daniel L. Throlson, 62, Bismarck, died Dec. 26, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Bismarck Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tom Dunham officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be two hours prior to services at the funeral home. Daniel Throlson was born July 6, 1938 in New Rockford, N.D., to Carl and Catherine (Buttery) Throlson. He married Marilyn Ness on Jan. 4, 1957 in New Rockford. They farmed for 12 years in the New Rockford area until they moved to Bismarck in 1970. Dan was an agronomist for the past 21 years and was co-owner of Bismarck Fertilizer Co. He enjoyed reading about history and watching musicals. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marilyn; five daughters, Cindy Knowlen (Jim Fossen), Maddock, Barb (Du-Wayne) Vetter, Bismarck, Patti Jo (Steve) Werre, Beulah, Amy Throlson, Littleton, Colo., and Julie (Mike) Mosset, Bismarck; four sons, Rick (Sharyn Severtson), Durham, S.C., Steve and Bruce, both of Bismarck, and Brad (Sheri), Columbus, Ga.; nine grandchildren; his mother, Catherine Throlson, New Rockford; two brothers, Gary (Sharon), New Rockford, and David, Fargo; and one sister, Cathy Throlson, Minneapolis. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl.

Frank Tosner
Frank Tosner, 83, Glendive, Mont., formerly of Wibaux, Mont., died Dec. 17, 2000, in the Glendive veterans home. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. MST Saturday at Chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home, Wibaux. He is survived by one brother, Albert, Beach; and three sisters, Betty Glower, Beach, and Mary Efta and Genevieve Marciniak, both of Wibaux.

Phyllis Johnson
WILLISTON -- Phyllis (Skogen) Johnson, 51, Williston, died Dec. 23, 2000, in the Williston hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church, Williston, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, Williston. She is survived by her parents, Osmond and Dorthy Skogen, Williston; and one brother, Gary Skogen, Epping. (Fulkerson Funeral Home, Williston)

Evelyn Jorgenson
WILLISTON -- Evelyn Jorgenson, 92, Williston, died Dec. 18, 2000, in Phoenix. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Union Church, Williston, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, Williston. She is survived by one son, L.E., Libby, Mont.; two daughters, Janet Rodesch, San Diego, Calif., and Jo Jorgenson-Torvie; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Doris A. Knutson
LEMMON, S.D. -- Doris A. Knutson, 66, died Dec. 22, 2000, in Apache Junction, Ariz. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MST Friday at Prairie Hills Church of God, Lemmon, with burial in Greenhill Cemetery, Lemmon. She is survived by her husband, Lane; three sons, Marlin, Lemmon, Rocky, Fort Collins, Colo., and Corby, Aurora, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; and one brother, Duane Friez, Spearfish, S.D. Michael R. Osterlund
Michael R. Osterlund, 46, 1119 University Drive, died Dec. 24, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Evangel Temple, 3225 Harvest Lane, with the Rev. David R. Sjostrom officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. today at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan, and will continue at the church one hour before services. Michael was born Nov. 22, 1954, at North Platte, Neb., to Ernest and Dorothy (Kramer) Osterlund. He was raised and educated in North Platte and Minot. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1973-1975. Michael attended the hotel management course at Bismarck State College and worked as a chef for various eating establishments in Bismarck. He loved fishing, growing plants and playing pool. He married Joyce Schepper at Bismarck on June 22, 1979. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; one daughter, Jenna Lee Osterlund, Bismarck; one son, Stephan Osterlund, Bismarck; his parents, Ernest and Dorothy Osterlund, North Platte; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Karen and Alex Snavely, Nebraska, and Marsha Brabwisch, Minot; one brother and sister-in-law, Cecil and Barb Osterlund, McClusky; his mother and father-in-law, Mike and Ruby Schepper, Bismarck; and several nieces and nephews. Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ernest and Anna Sykes, and Al J. and Minnie Osterlund.

Monica Paul
Monica Paul, 82, Mandan, died Dec. 25, 2000, in a Mandan care center. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Revs. Patrick Schumacher and Leonard Eckroth officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. today at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a Catholic Daughters and St. Joseph's Circle rosary will be said at 4 p.m. today. A St. Anthony Verein rosary will be said at 7 tonight, followed by a parish vigil at 7:30, both at the funeral home. Monica (Eckroth) Paul was born Nov. 5, 1918, in Mandan. She was the daughter of the late John P. and Elizabeth (Wetsch) Paul. Monica was raised and educated in Mandan. On Oct. 17, 1939, she married Joseph J. Paul in St. Anthony. Monica worked at Knights of Columbus as a cook and did volunteer work for St. Vincent DePaul and RSVP. She was a member of St. Joseph Circle and Catholic Daughters. Monica is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Aldean, Jerry and JoAnn, and Bob and Peggy, all of Mandan, and Matt and Kathy, Valley, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Loretta, Helena, Mont., John and Marilyn, Coleharbor, and Gary and Maureen, Boston, Mass.; seven sisters and five brothers-in-law, Frances and George Paul, Linton, Katherine Schanks, Lyndon, Kan., Mary Eva and Freeman Phillips, Joseph, Ore., Beatrice and Ed Charvat, and Margaret and Bill Paul, all of Bismarck, Hildegard and Larry Henry, McMinnville, Ore., and Judy and Glenn Thiel, Harvey; and one sister-in-law, Eva Eckroth, Mandan. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph, who died July 7, 1994; two stepmothers, Anna Wetsch Eckroth and Flora Fried Eckroth; two brothers, Martin and Philip; and one sister, Mary Eva.

Sophus Peterson
STANLEY -- Sophus Peterson, 93, Stanley, died Dec. 25, 2000, in a Minot hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at American Lutheran Church, Stanley. Further arrangements are pending at Springan Funeral Home, Stanley.

Ignatius Reinbold
STRASBURG -- Ignatius Reinbold, 93, Strasburg, died Dec. 26, 2000, in the Strasburg care center. Arrangements are pending at Myers Funeral Home, Linton.

Myrtle Riemer
DICKINSON -- Myrtle Riemer, 91, Dickinson, died Dec. 24, 2000, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. MST Thursday at First Congregational United Church of Christ, Dickinson, with burial in Dickinson Cemetery. She is survived by one son, Gerald, Halliday; one daughter, Joanne Johnson, Maxbass; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one half-sister, Adlyn Severson, Ruthben, Iowa; and two half-brothers, John Steffen, Hot Springs, S.D., and Paul Steffen, Ruthben. Ruth Schnabel
NAPOLEON -- Ruth Schnabel, 92, Napoleon, died Dec. 25, 2000, in the Napoleon care center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Napoleon, with burial in Napoleon cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m.-noon Friday at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Napoleon, and will continue at the church one hour before services. Ruth was born Jan. 1, 1908, on the family farm near Burnstad, the daughter of Philip H. and Magdalena (Aman) Mueller. Ruth grew up on the family farm and received her elementary education in rural Logan County schools. She continued to live at home until her marriage to Adam Schnabel on June 6, 1929. They returned to the Schnabel family farm where they lived and farmed for a year. The couple then purchased a farm home seven miles north of Napoleon, where they lived and farmed until their retirement in 1968. Ruth and Adam also opened their home to many foster children over the years. The couple moved to Napoleon in 1968, where Ruth has lived since that time and she has been a resident of Napoleon Care Center since January 2000. She is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Napoleon, and the Trinity Lutheran Ladies Aid. Her hobbies included crocheting, playing cards and fishing. In town, Ruth's love for children was shared by babysitting for several families for many years. She found much enjoyment in tending to her flowers and vegetable garden for countless hours at a time. Ruth warmed many hearts and homes by sharing her fresh homemade bread. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Donald, Steele, Henry and Peggy, Montivideo, Minn., and Marvin and Marie, Napoleon; two daughters and sons-in-law, Frances and Robert Kaplan, LaCrosse, Wis., and Carol and Dean Entzminger, Gackle; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Lena Mueller, Wishek; and a sister-in-law, Gertie Mueller, Wishek. She was preceded in death by her husband, Adam, in November 1992; her parents; six brothers; and five sisters.

Michael E. Schroeder
WILLISTON -- Michael E. Schroeder, 44, Williston, died Dec. 25, 2000, in Williston. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Williston. Further arrangements are pending at Fulkerson Funeral Home, Williston.

Harold Schultz
Harold Schultz, 69, Fort Peck, Mont., died Dec. 23, 2000, in a Glasgow, Mont. hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Patrick Schumacher officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan, with military rites by Mandan Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 707 and Mandan American Legion Post 40. Visitation will be held at the church one hour before services. Harold Schultz was born March 27, 1931, in Bismarck. He was the son of Ted and Anna (Bacher) Schultz. Harold was raised and educated in Fort Rice. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1955, serving in Korea. Harold married Marlene Rebenitsch on June 14, 1956, in Huff. They lived in Mandan until 1971 when they moved to Fort Peck where they owned and operated Fort Peck Marina from 1971-1993, when Harold retired. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, western movies, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Marlene; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Heidi Schultz, Flaxville, Mont.; one daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Roy Taylor, Glasgow; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vivian Helfrich and Betty Dillon, both of Mandan; and one brother, James, Mandan. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Alvin and Fred.

Angeline Snow
BOWMAN -- Angeline Snow, 97, Bowman, died Dec. 24, 2000, in the Bowman care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Charles Catholic Church, Bowman, with burial in St. John's Cemetery, Beach, at 2 p.m. Friday. She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Edkins, Denver, and Ruth Kline, Bowman; one son, Rodney Snow, Jamul, Calif.; one sister, Caroline Klewin, Amidon; two brothers, Bernard Engesser, Bowman, and Ferdinand Engesser, Redwood City, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He is survived by three daughters, Elaine Tuhy, St. Paul, Minn., Valeria Locket, Dickinson, and Laurene Buckmiller, St. Paul; four sons, Eugene, Dale and Allan, all of Dickinson, and Curtis, Rapid City, S.D.; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Vincent, Dickinson; and two sisters, Molly Kubas and Hattie Steffan, both of Dickinson. STRASBURG -- Lester Van Beek, 81, Strasburg, died Dec. 26, 2000, in his home. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Hope Reformed Church, Westfield, with burial in Westfield Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Lois; three sons, Dr. Allen, Edina, Minn., Arlyn, Strasburg, and Byron, Minneapolis; one daughter, Sandra Melland, Hazen; 26 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Raymond, Seal Beach, Calif.; and one sister, Dorothy Looyenga, Strasburg.
