Esther M. Asp
Funeral services for Esther M. Asp, 78, San Carlos, Calif., were held on Saturday, September 20, 2003 in Vista, Calif. Mrs. Asp died Sunday, September 14, 2003 in San Marcos, Calif.
Esther Marie Zwetzig, daughter of Jacob and Eva (Mier) Zwetzig was born on August 11, 1925, in rural Lisbon.
In 1946, she married Charles Asp in Chicago, Ill. They moved to Fargo in 1947 and lived there until 1990 when they moved to the vicinity of San Diego, Calif. Charles still lives in San Carlos, Calif.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Asp; two sons, Richard (Joelene) Asp, California and Terry (Jane) Asp, California; two daughters, Ruth (Nick), California and Norma (Jim) Krabbenhoft, Fargo; three sisters, Freda Rehborg, Henning, Minn., Ruth (Dick) Sanderson, Lisbon, Marion (Lloyd) Milligan, Fargo; two brothers, Jacob Zwetzig, Jr., Perham, and Norman (Bev) Zwetzig, Lisbon; nine grandchildren and 18 grandchildren.
Eugene S. Meier
Funeral services for Eugene S. Meier, 35, Jamestown, formerly Oakes, were held on Friday, September 19, 2003 at St. Charles Catholic Church, Oakes. Father Mathew Pamplaniyil officiated. Mr. Meier died Tuesday, September 16, 2003 near Jamestown.
Eugene Steve Meier, son of Julius and Bertha (Malard) Meier was born on September 29, 1967 at Wishek. Eugene lived in Zeeland, N.D. until 1974, when he moved with his family to Oakes. He attended school at Oakes Elementary, Cardinal Muench in Fargo from 1982 to 1983, and graduated from Oakes High School in 1986. After graduation, Eugene worked for Randt Oil from 1986 to 1999.
On September 29, 1991, he married Hazel Hartford, in Clear Lake, S.D. In 2002, Eugene began working for Tri Behm Oil, Jamestown.
He is survived by his dear friend Hazel Mailloux; four children, Seth, Kassidie, and Tristen Meier, all of Lisbon and Ashlie Meier, Jamestown; his father, Julius, Verona; five brothers, Andy Meier, Jamestown, Calvin Meier, Glover, N.D. Clarence (Millie) Meier, Menahgan, Minn., Leroy Meier, Oakes, and David Meier, Verona; one sister, Kathy (Cory) Anderson, Oakes. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bertha Meier and four grandparents.
Pallbearers for the funeral were his nieces and nephews.
Music was provided by organist Vesta Olderness and soloist Mari Schmitz.
Interment at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, Oakes.

Harold V. Reynolds
Funeral services for Harold V. Reynolds, 84, Enderlin, were held on Friday, September 26, 2003 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Enderlin. Reverend Mike Toomey officiated. Mr. Reynolds died Monday, September 22, 2003 at Maryhill Manor, Enderlin.
Harold V. Reynolds, son of Thomas and Emily (Holzen) Reynolds was born on November 14, 1918 in Enderlin. He attended school in Sheldon, graduating in 1936.
On January 3, 1940, he married Vivian Miller, in Moorhead. They farmed near Enderlin for 50 years. They moved to Enderlin in 1990. They had wintered in Mesa, Ariz. for 22 years.
He is survived by one son, Brian (Rhonda) Reynolds, Alexandria, Minn.; two daughters, Roxy Ann Reynolds, Aliso Viego, Calif. and Patricia Reynolds, Eagan, Minn.; six grandchildren; on step-grandchild; twelve great- grandchildren and one step-great- grandchildren; one brother, Earl Reynolds, Morristown, Tenn.; and one sister, Dorothy Yon, Stillwater, Minn.
Honorary pallbearers for the funeral were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Music was provided by organist Norma Perhus and soloists Brian Reynolds and Jill Perhus.
Interment at Enderlin Cemetery, Enderlin.

Lilian J. Hanson
Funeral services for Lilian J. Hanson, 77, Fort Ransom, were held on Friday, September 26, 2003 at Standing Rock Lutheran Church, Fort Ransom. Reverend David Carlson officiated. Mrs. Hanson died Tuesday, September 23, 2003 at Parkside Home, Lisbon.
Lilian J. Skonseng, daughter of Peder and Anna (Jacobson) Skonseng was born on May 25, 1926 in rural Fort Ransom. She attended school at LaMoure and Fort Ransom Schools.
On June 27, 1948, she married Ludvig H. Hanson in Fort Ransom. They farmed near Fort Ransom. They lived in Verona and then farmed near Fullerton. After they retired in 1984 they moved into Fort Ransom. Lilian was a member of VFW Auxiliary, Ladies Aid, and Sarah Circle. He died October 1, 1992.
She is survived by eight sons, Herman Hanson, Reddick, Fla, Robert Hanson, Oakes, George (Lee) Hanson, Lewisville, Texas, Harold Hanson, Oakes, Melvin (Patrice) Hanson, Parkers Prairie, Minn., Donald (Deb) Hanson, Prescott, Ariz., Arnold Hanson, Fort Ransom, Steven Hanson, Fairbanks, Alaska; two daughters, Sophie (David) Paetz, Beulah, and Annabel Hanson, Milaca, Minn.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, John (Leona) Skonseng, Midway City, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Erling. Pallbearers for the funeral were Ardell Rasmusson, David Guttormson, Dennis Guttormson, Oscar Hanson, Alvin Hanson, and Arnold Hanson.
Music was provided by organist Mary Johnson and soloists Terry and Ardell Grothe.
Interment at Standing Rock Lutheran Cemetery, Fort Ransom.

Robert L. Lukes
Funeral services for Robert L. Lukes, 78, Lisbon, were held on Saturday, September 20, 2003 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Lisbon. Father Andrew Dudzinski officiated. Mr. Lukes died Thursday, September 18, 2003 at Parkside Home, Lisbon.
Robert L. Lukes, son of Robert and Eleanora (Klemish) Lukes was born on October 14, 1924 in rural Lisbon. He attended school at St. Aloysius Catholic School in Lisbon. He served in the U.S. Marines from December 18, 1943 to March 28, 1946 in the Asiatic Pacific area, Hawaiian Islands, Marianas Islands, Ryukyus Islands, and Japan.
On April 22, 1950, he married Betty Jane Wickoren, in Lisbon.They farmed near Lisbon. Bob also was a bus driver for Lisbon Public Schools for 28 years. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and Lisbon VFW. She died December 3, 1996.
He is survived by two sons, Jack (Myrna) Lukes, Lisbon and Roger (Val) Lukes, Lisbon; two daughters, Barb (Cliff) Zetocha, Wahpeton, and Susan (Reggie) Froemke, Lisbon; nine grand children; one great grandchild; one brother, Ed (Rudy) Lukes, Lisbon; three sisters, Lillian (Greg) Thomas, Castro Valley, Calif., Marie (Harlan) Villers, Fort Myers, Fla., and Eleanor (Kenny) Ralston, Redding, Calif. He was preceded in death by his wife, infant brothers, George and Richard and sisters, Madge and Carolyn.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Joe Lukes, Jim Lukes, Jerry Lukes, David Lukes, Brooke Lukes, and Kelli Wegscheid. Honorary pallbearers were Natalie Lukes, Lindsey Lukes, Kimberlee Zetocha, Anthony Lukes, Roberta Froemke, Zachary Lukes, and Abby Zetocha.
Music was provided by organist Carol McCann and special music by Kris and Chuck Long.

Bernice M. Charlson
Committal services for Bernice M. Charlson, 87, formerly of Wyndmere, were held at Elk Creek Cemetery, Wyndmere. Mrs. Charlson died Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at the St. Catherines Health Center, Wahpeton.
Bernice Charlson, daughter of Harry and Palma (Johnson) Huseth was born on August 10, 1916 near McLeod. She attended Freeman rural school and McLeod High School.
On July 14, 1937, she married Nels Charlson, Jr. They were ranchers in the Wyndmere and DeLamere area until their retirement. Upon her husband’s death she became a resident of Wyndmere. In her later years she was a resident of St. Catherines Health Center in Wahpeton.
She is survived by two sons, James (Linda) Charlson, Mannford, Okla. and Gary (Elaine) Charlson, Dilworth, Minn.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lenore (Wallace) Froemke, Lisbon, Harriet (Mel) Hendricks, Fargo and Arlene (Jack) Bailey, Wyndmere. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister and brother in-law, Norine and Ernest Kjar and brother and sister-in-law Harold and Rayola Huseth.

Donna L. Loken
Funeral services for Donna L. Loken, 65, Fargo, were held on Friday, November 28, 2003 in North Viking Lutheran Church, Maddock. Pastor Schnaidt officiating. Mrs. Loken died Sunday, November 23, 2003 in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Donna L. Bell, daughter of Frances and Thora (Wang) Bell was born on December 17, 1937 in Silverton, Ore. She moved to Maddock, N.D. at the age of six and attended grade school. She earned her GED in 1980 and graduated as a medical assistant from Apollo College in Mesa, Ariz. in 1989.
On January 29, 1955, she married Raymond Loken in Maddock. She worked in Maddock at Greisen’s Cafe, Maddock Memorial Hospital, Mollar Home, Maddock Cafe and Lanes and as a cook at the Maddock School. She also worked for Good Samaritan Hospital in Rugby and operated Edmond (N.D.) Cafe. He died in 1988. Donna was a member of North Viking Lutheran Church and its WELCA, she had also attended Zion Lutheran Brethren Church in Maddock. She had been a member of the Fort Totten Trail Riders, the Maddock Ambulance Service, Sons of Norway, several bowling leagues and TOPS.
She is survived by three sons, Brian (Roxane) Loken, Bowman, James (Kristy) Loken, Grand Forks, Kurtis (Brenda Barney) Loken, Bloomington, Minn.; two daughters, Teresa (Roger) Nielsen, Westhope, N.D., Penny (Don) Evans, Fort Wayne, Ind.; her mother, Thora (Wang) Bell Hagen, Fargo; a brother, Francis (Delores) Bell, Lisbon; four half brothers, Arthur Hagen, Mesa, Kenneth Hagen, Fargo, Melvin Bell, Gladstone, Ore. Wayne Bell, Eagle Point, Ore.; two half sisters, Joanne Weber, Luidonville, Ohio, Wendy Quayle Tigard, Ore.; two step-brothers, Kenneth (Della) Thorpe, Bill Thorpe, both Oregon; a stepsister, Lavern Allen, Oatfield, Ore.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Music was provided by organist Sheila Erickson and soloist Rachel Markestad.
Pallbearers were Mitchell Loken, Johnathon Roeder, Jerry Bell, Mark Bell, Ryan Hagen and Bruce Georgeson.
Interment at St. Petri Lutheran Cemetery near York, N.D.
