Elma Van Dyke
WING -- Elma Van Dyke, 79, died Dec. 10, 2000, in Lebanon, Ohio. Services were held Dec. 15 at Carragan and Mains Funeral Home in Englewood, Ohio. Burial was in Miami Memorial Park Cemetery, Covington, Ohio. Elna was born at Wing on Aug. 21, 1921, to Romeo and Nettie (Lind) Bailey. She attended rural grade school and graduated from Wing High School in 1940. Elna is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Tom Rogers, Englewood, Ohio; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Shirley Van Dyke, Vandalia, Ohio; two granddaughters, Mary Beth Rogers and Annie Van Dyke; one grandson, Timmy Rogers; one sister, Linda Holdford, Memphis, Tenn.; and one brother, Richard Bailey, Bismarck. She was preceded in death by her husband, F. James Van Dyke; one brother, Raymond Bailey, Fergus Falls, Minn.; and her parents, Romeo and Nettie Bailey.

Adeline R. Voller
BOWDLE, S.D. -- Adeline R. Voller, 88, Bowdle, died Dec. 19, 2000, in the Bowdle nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Evangel United Methodist Church, Bowdle, with burial in St. Augustine's Catholic Cemetery, Bowdle. She is survived by one son, Lloyd, Bowdle; one daughter, Virginia Bieber, Bismarck; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. (Miller Funeral Home, Bowdle)

Martin A. Gellner
Martin A. Gellner, 84, born Jan. 15, 1916 in Arena and died on Dec. 16, 2000 in Kirkland, Wash. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, at Peace Lutheran Church, Stanley. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Friday, at Purdy & Kerr Funeral Home, Monroe, Wash. In 1937, Martin married Marie Helsz. Martin and Marie farmed in the areas of Wing, Goodrich, Martin and Lincoln Valley. They moved to McClusky when Martin was elected sheriff of Sheridan County. In 1966, Martin moved his family to Monroe, Wash. where he worked at the Washington State Reformatory. In 1987, Martin was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Marie. In 1989, Martin and Edith Wright were married. Edith passed away in 1995. Throughout Martin's life, he was active in the Lutheran Church, Lions Club, and Eagles Club. Martin especially enjoyed pinochle, bowling and dancing. He is survived by his sisters, Edna Knowles, Ann Glanville, Ema Engelbretson; one brother, Robert; his children, Garry and wife, Susan, Carol, Elaine and husband, Carey, and Dale; his grandsons and spouses; and great-grandchildren and many extended family members including nephews, nieces and friends. Memorials may be made to Peace Lutheran Church, 202 Dickinson, Monroe, WA, 98272.

Jacob Jangula
LINTON -- Jacob "Jakie" Jangula Jr., 70, Linton, died Dec. 18, 2000 in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Linton, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Olivia; three sons, David and Dan, both of Linton, and Jerome, Bismarck; three daughters, Antonia Reed, Aberdeen, S.D., Theresia Jangula, Sioux Falls, S.D., and Jacqueline Geist, Aberdeen; nine grandchildren and two sisters, Johanna Ohlhauser, Billings, Mont., and Mary Walther, Linton. Olga M. Landon
CARRINGTON -- Olga M. Landon, 87, Carrington, died Dec. 17, 2000 at her home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington, with burial in Carrington Cemetery. She is survived by two brothers, Henry Gussiaas, Carrington, and LuVerne Gussiaas, New Rockford; four sisters, Thelma Landon, Norma Gussiaas, and Judy Swanson, all of Carrington, and Mabel Bittner, Cathay. Gerald Liebelt
Gerald "Jerry" Liebelt, 65, Bismarck, died Dec. 17, 2000 at his home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Steve Sathre officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-7:30 p.m. today at Bismarck Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. tonight. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Jerry was born Feb. 8, 1935 in Harvey, to Edwin and Christine (Stauss) Liebelt. He attended grade school in rural Harvey and graduated from Harvey High School in 1953. Jerry married Lucine Alexander on Aug. 21, 1960 in Esmond. He was a police officer for 27 years in Bismarck and retired in 1990 as a Lieutenant from the Bismarck Police Department in charge of the traffic division. He was currently employed as a court security officer. Jerry was the owner and operator of Bismarck Powder Company that specialized in the sales and service of explosives. Jerry was an explosives expert and is a US Army veteran. He was a jack of all trades in mechanical, electrical and metal working. Jerry was a loving grandfather to his two grandsons. They will miss grandpa's 4th of July displays. Jerry is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lucine, only son, Newell and daughter-in-law, Kimberle, St. Michael, Minn.; his grandsons, Nicholas and Nathan Liebelt, St. Michael; his mother, Christine Faul, Harvey; his brother, John Liebelt, Rapid City, S.D.; his sister, Karen Marter, Vadnais Heights, Minn.; also aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Edwin. (Bismarck Funeral Home)

Martha Mowder
Martha Mowder, 88, Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck, died Dec. 18, 2000 at his home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck, with the Rev. Dale Nabben officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck. Public visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. today with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Boelter Funeral Home, and Thursday from 9 a.m. until noon at Boelter Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center. She was born Sept. 12, 1912 in Herreid, S.D., the daughter of Jacob and Rose (Nuemiller) Heimbuck. She was raised and educated in the Regan area and on Jan. 5, 1933, she married George Mowder in Bismarck. Following their marriage, they farmed in the Regan area until their retirement. They moved to Washburn and resided there for a number of years. Martha then moved to Harvey and to Bismarck in 1992, where she has since resided. Martha loved crafts, gardening, bird watching and especially the time she spent with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. Her family takes comfort knowing that she has found the peace and tranquility she richly deserves. Martha is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Arlene and Paul Davis, Beaverton, Ore., Margaret and Glen Irons, Harvey, Joyce and Bud Zillmer, Cleveland, N.D.; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Harold, Sebeka, Minn., Ken and Lorraine, Bismarck, Ralph and Deborah, Bismarck, and Dale and Carla, Mandan; 21 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Edna Franklin, Waterloo, Iowa, Emma Feye, Elsie Smith and Esther Seales, all of Oregon; two brothers, Fred and William Heimbuck, Ore. Martha was preceded in death by her husband, George; two brothers, Ed and Albert; two sisters, Rose Jones and an infant sister, Jacklin; three grandchildren, Ryan, Brian and Shiela Maria Mowder. Walter E. Posey
DICKINSON -- Walter E. Posey, 53, Dickinson, died Dec. 19, 2000 in the Dickinson hospital. Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, at North Dakota Veterans' Cemetery, Mandan. Further arrangements are pending with Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson.

Bertha Renner
Bertha Renner, 85, rural Mandan, died at her home on Dec. 19, 2000. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, at Christ the King Catholic Church, with the Rev. Albert Leary officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Thursday from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, with a parish vigil and rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour before services at the church. Bertha was born March 6, 1915 at Rosebud, the daughter of Kasper O. and Anna (Doll) Erhardt. She was raised and educated in Oliver County rural school. Bertha married Valentine Renner on Nov. 23, 1943 at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Center. They moved to Mandan and she farmed with her husband until retiring in 1978. Upon retiring, she spent her life on the farm and enjoyed art, painting, drawing, writing books and fishing. She gave her love to her children and grandchildren. Valentine died Feb. 20, 2000. She is survived by her two sons, Richard and Valan, and one daughter, Mary Ann Preble, all of Mandan; eight grandchildren, Nicole, Stacey, Danielle and Eric Renner, Lance and Angela Preble and Breanne and Andrew Renner; three great-grandchildren, Lee Renner, Blake Preble and Sidney Renner; three sisters, Odea Light, Denver, Colo., Pauline Esselman, Oshkosh, Wis., and Rose Koffler, Mandan; and two brothers, Max Erhardt, Center, and Connie Erhardt, Mandan. She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Monica Kraft, Clementine Pfleger, Minnie Schwab, Perpetua Erhardt and Madilda Erhardt and four brothers, Joe, John, Christ and Ralph. ELGIN -- Robert H. Well, 85, Elgin, died Dec. 17, 2000 in the Elgin hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MST Thursday, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elgin, with burial in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, on Friday, at 2:30 p.m. CST. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; one son, James, Folsom, Calif.; his daughters, Leota Linehan, Oelrichs, S.D., and Patsy Griffin, Pueblo, Colo.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Orin, Acampo, Calif., and Kenneth, Templeton, Calif.; and his sisters, Verna Jacobs, Lemmon, S.D., Norma Tuttle, Seattle, Wash., and Irene Hyslop, Missoula, Mont. WILLISTON -- Duane Johnson, 68, Williston, died April 6, 2000, in a Minot hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church, Williston, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, Williston. He is survived by his wife, Jacqualine; three daughters, Anita Woodworth, Minneapolis, and Cyndi Johnson and Sonya Boykim, both of Williston; two sons, Greg, Uvalde, Texas, and Craig, Williston; and one sister, Evelyn Hoffelt, Williston.
