George A. Symionow
FAIRFIELD -- George A. Symionow, 87, Fairfield, died April 29, 2000, in the Dickinson health center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Wednesday, at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church, Belfield. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Belfield. He is survived by three brothers, Nick, Fairfield, Bill, Alexandria, Va., and Pete, Hermiston, Ore.; and six sisters, Kay Wazny, Fargo, Sister Anisia, Stanford, Conn., Mary Shypkowski, Dickinson, Dorothy Catlin, Oroville, Calif., Sister Bernadine, Pittsburgh, Pa., and Margie Koffler, Dickinson. Paul Tibor
HEBRON -- Paul Tibor, 80, Hebron, died April 30, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. MDT Wednesday, at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Hebron, with the Rev. Francis dos Remedios OSB officiating. Burial will be in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, rural Hebron, with military rites provided by American Legion Post No. 100 of Hebron. Visitation begins at 4 p.m. today, at the church, where a rosary will be said at 7:30. Visitation is ongoing at the church until service time. Paul was born Sept. 21, 1919, the son of John and Mary (Hanacek) Tibor, in rural Hebron. He was raised 18 miles south of Hebron and began his education in country school. He graduated from Hebron High School in 1938. Paul entered the U.S. Army Air Corp on April 9, 1942 and was discharged on Jan. 8, 1946. Following his discharge he was at American Falls, Idaho, for a short time and then returned to the area and began farming and ranching with his brother. He married Ann Conlon Tibor on Nov. 26, 1974 at St. Ann's in Hebron. Paul was an instructor for the Explorer Scouts for several years. They continued the farm life until they retired and moved into Hebron in 1984 where they have resided since. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 100, was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus and was affiliated with the Eagle Scouts. He is survived by his wife, Ann; four stepsons, Jim (Linda) Tibor, Denis (Sarah) Tibor, and Robert (Janet) Tibor, all of Hebron, and Terry (Kisanna) Tibor, Pomeroy, Wash.; one stepdaughter, Jean (Allen) Raaf, Pomeroy, Wash.; eight grandchildren, Teresa, Travis, Clint, Dustin, Jessica, Tate, Alyssa and Patrick; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Tom, American Falls, Idaho, and Andy, Hebron. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, John, Mike, Joe, Steve, Albert and Victor; and two sisters, Mary Tibor and Sister Clara Tibor. (Spangelo Funeral Home, Hebron)

Doris Turcotte
WILLISTON -- Doris Turcotte, 80, Williston, died April 30, 2000, in a Williston nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Trenton. Further arrangements are pending with Everson Funeral Home, Williston.

John Duttenhefer
DICKINSON -- John Duttenhefer, 81, Dickinson, died May 29, 2000, in his home. Arrangements are pending at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson.

Frances Inglis
HEBRON -- Frances Inglis, 82, Mandan, died May 28, 2000, in Mandan. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Walhalla Park Center Presbyterian Church, with burial in Walhalla Hillside Cemetery. Frances Rose was born Oct. 21, 1917, in Walhalla, to Roy and Alice Maude (Moore) Rose. She was raised at Walhalla and graduated from high school in1935. She worked as an operator for Shepherd Telephone Co. and at the J.C. penney store until 1943, when she married Roy Inglis. They farmed east of Walhalla. After the death of her husband in 1965, she moved to Grand Forks where she was a secretary at St. Michael's and United Hospitals. She retired in 1976, and became involved with a foster grandparent program. Frances moved to Hebron in the mid-1980s, but returned to Grand Forks several times. She just recently entered the Mandan Care Center. She was a member of the foster grandparents organization. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Non Inglis, Hebron; two grandchildren, Jeffrey and his wife, Tammy, and Jaclyn, all of Bismarck; one brother, Percy Rose, Santa Rosa, Calif.; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Pauline South, Santa Rosa, and Beverly and Louis Andoline, Avon, Conn. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband. (Spangelo Funeral Home, Hebron)

Barbara McAlpin
Barbara McAlpin, 79, formerly of Bismarck, died May 29, 2000, in Danville, Ill. Arrangements are pending at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan.

Edith Prom
HARVEY -- Edith Prom, 91, Jackson, Minn., formerly of Harvey, died May 27, 2000, in a Jackson nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey, with burial in the church cemetery. She is survived by seven sons, Greg, Minneapolis, Math, Moorhead, Minn., Tony, Harvey, Al, Washburn, Pat, Eden Prairie, Minn., Tim, Jackson, Terry, Alpha, Minn.; two daughters, Theresa Rudnick, Anamoose, and Susan Sullivan, Martinsburg, W.V.; 40 grandchildren; over 40 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Mary Opheim, Lubbock, Texas. Martha Jane Sifton
GREENE -- Martha Jane Sifton, 58, Greene, formerly of Bismarck, died May 29, 2000, in an Albuquerque, N.M. hospital. Arrangments are pending at Thomas Funeral Home, Minot.

Warren W. Sperry
Warren W. Sperry, 80, Bismarck, died May 28, 2000, in the Turtle Lake hospital after a long battle with cancer. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sunne Lutheran Church, rural Wilton, with the Rev. Paul Schauer officiating. Burial will be in Regan Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9 tonight and 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Wednesday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck. Visitation will continue at the church one hour before services. Warren was born Jan. 26, 1920, at St. Paul, Minn., the son of Orville and Elizabeth (Novy) Sperry. He was raised and educated north of Wing. He ranched with his father on the family ranch north of Wing until the early 1960s when they moved to Bismarck. He married Edna Hoffer, Nov. 20, 1964, in Bismarck. Warren worked for Northern Improvement as a heavy equipment operator for 20 years. He married Rose Hedstrom at Sunne Lutheran Church in 1994. Warren loved his ranching days and never gave them up. He enjoyed his 20 years working with Northern Improvement. He also enjoyed traveling with Rose and visiting with people. He is survived by his wife, Rose; four stepdaughters, Glenice and Rod Stucker, Las Vegas, Nev., Annetta Rudland, Bismarck, Janice and Harold Schotl, St. Cloud, Minn., and Nancy and Randy Sawicki, Wilton; and two stepsons, Curtis and Arlene Hedstrom, Bismarck, and Maurice and Linda Hoffer, New Salem. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Edna.

Emma B. Thomas
Emma B. Thomas, 98, Bismarck, died May 28, 2000, in a Bismarck nursing home. Arrangements are pending at Boelter Funeral Home.

Darlene Wolff
Darlene Wolff, 69, Bismarck, died May 29, 2000, in a Bismarck nursing home. Arrangements are pending at Eastgate Funeral Service.

Alice Rebecca Zoller
Alice Rebecca "Becky" Zoller, 65, Bismarck, died May 25, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at McCabe United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Art Scanson officiating. Becky was born in Hawkeye, Iowa, on April 30, 1935, the only child of Richard and Hazel (Klipstein) Ludemann. When Becky was 2 years old, the family moved to Menoken and then to Bismarck, where she received her education. She graduated with the class of 1953 at Bis-marck High School where she earned membership in the National Honor Society. Becky married James Zoller, son of John and Martha Zoller, all of Bismarck, on Aug. 18, 1956, at McCabe Methodist Church in Bismarck. Becky enjoyed her positions as receptionist-secretary to governors of North Dakota, including Govs. Norman Brunsdale, John Davis and William Guy. She was then employed by the state Game and Fish Department Commissioner Russell Stuart, and after a short retirement joined the staff of the state Department of Agriculture under Commissioner Kent Jones as assistant office manager. In later years, she was a committee clerk in the N.D. Legislative Assembly and most recently had been a part of the staff of the N.D. Legislative Council as an enrolling and engrossing assistant. Becky and Jim owned and managed Prairie Wind Dog Boarding Kennels, Midway Tavern and the Little Cottage Cafe. Becky was a member of the McCabe United Methodist Church, Eagles Auxiliary, AMVETS Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary. Becky was a devoted and caring daughter, wife, mother and grandmother in her closely knit family. In her quiet caring manner, she was always worried and concerned for the well-being of all her friends and relatives. Becky is survived by her husband, Jim Zoller; one son, John and his fiance, Barb Nies; four grandchildren, Shanna, Leah, Jacob and Samuel; her mother, Hazel Ludemann; her cousins, Alan and Peggy Knoll, Velza Knoll Teeter, Elmer and Ella Agnew; and an even dozen other cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, her grandparents; an uncle, Elmer Klipstein; an aunt, Alice Knoll Schmitz; and other aunts and uncles. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Home on the Range. (Bismarck Funeral Home)

Arnold Bauer
NEW SALEM -- Arnold Bauer, 84, New Salem, died May 25, 2000 in the Glen Ullin nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Thursday, at Zion Lutheran Church, New Salem, with the Rev. Loren Strum officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, with military rites provided by John Repsdorf American Legion Post 91, New Salem. Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m. MDT today and 9 a.m.-noon MDT Thursday, both at Buehler-Larson Funeral Chapel, New Salem, and will continue one hour prior to the services at the church. Arnold was born on March 13, 1916 in Bluegrass, the son of John and Brigetta (Buchmann) Bauer. Raised and educated in the Bluegrass area, Arnold married Selma Holle on July 16, 1945 in New Salem and worked as a mechanic for John Deere. He is survived by his wife, Selma; his daughter and son-in-law, Eunice and Larry Morgenstern, New Salem; his son and daughter-in-law, James and Larissa, Casper, Wyo.; his grandchildren, Michael and his wife, Brandy, Rebecca and her husband, Jason Young, April and Mindy Morgenstern and Grant Bauer; his great-granddaughter, Madison Morgenstern and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 12 brothers and sisters. (Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan)

Doug Bothun, 61, died May 30, 2000. Services will be held at noon Friday, at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck. Arrangements are pending.

Pauline M. Dalsted
Pauline M. "Pam" Dalsted, 87, Bismarck, died May 30, 2000 in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck. Further arrangements are pending with Perry Funeral Home, Mandan.

Kenneth Bolke
HEBRON -- Kenneth Bolke, Hebron, died Feb. 14, 2000 in the Richardton care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MST Thursday, at St. John United Church of Christ, Hebron. Further arrangements are pending with Spangelo Funeral Home, Hebron.

Ione Braa
Ione Braa, 70, Frederick, S.D., died Feb. 11, 2000 in a Minneapolis hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Frederick. She is survived by her husband, Clemence; two daughters, Monica Ochsner, Boulder, Colo., and Marcia Dittus, Beulah; two sons, Douglas, Frederick, and Kent, Bismarck; four grandchildren and one great-grandson. John Andrew Braun
John Andrew Braun, 62, formerly of Selfridge, died Jan. 31, 2000 in Houston, Texas, as a result of injuries sustained in a truck accident. Services were held on Feb. 5 at Sapulpa, Okla., with burial in Green Hill Memorial Gardens. He is survived by his wife, Donna; fivechildren, Cindy, Houston, Texas, DeWayne, Auburn, Wash., Andrea and Tracey, both of Tulsa, Okla., and Diane, Tennessee; 12 grandchildren, five stepchildren; one brother, Bernard, Bismarck; seven sisters, Tillie Landeis, Ann Berger, Barbara Feist, all of Mandan, Theresa Jefferson, Elizabeth Flemmer, both of Phoenix, Ariz., Regina Klein, New Castle, Wyo., and Katie Bauer, Billings, Mont.

Valerie H. Ciavarella
Valerie H. Ciavarella, 56, 808 13th Ave. N.W., Mandan, died Feb. 12, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at noon Wednesday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Albert Leary officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a parish vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m. Valerie (Reis) Ciavarella, the daughter of Mel and Josephine (Randich) Reis, was born June 22, 1943, in Bismarck. She was raised and educated in Bismarck, graduating from St. Mary's Central High School in 1961. On Jan. 21, 1967, she was united in marriage to Ken Ciavarella in Bismarck. Valerie worked at Q&R Clinic as a receptionist for 19 years. She recently worked for HMR Home Med Resources at Medcenter One until April 1999. Valerie was one in a million. She had a great disposition, always happy and outgoing. She enjoyed being around people and she had a special way of making someone smile. She loved to dance and always had music playing. Her favorite place to relax was at their cabin at Brush Lake. Valerie will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Ken; one son, Chris, Mandan; one daughter and son-in-law, Chantel and Shawn Julson, Mandan; two grandsons, Michael and Anthony Julson, Mandan; her parents, Mel and Josephine Reis, Bismarck; two sisters and one brother-in-law, her twin sister, Vicki Shafer, Bismarck, and Cletus and Larry Brewster, Kansas City, Kan. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; and one brother-in-law, Andy Shafer.
