Ethel Berry Greybull, 83, 1108 Summit Blvd., Bismarck, died Dec. 31, 2000 at her home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at St. James Episcopal Church, Cannonball. Further arrangements are pending with Perry Funeral Home, Mandan.

Spencer Herbert Hafnerr
BEULAH -- Spencer Herbert Hafnerr, 29, Gillette, Wyo., and formerly of Beulah, died Dec. 29, 2000 of injuries sustained in a train accident. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Wednesday, at Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah, with the Rev. Doreen Jeffers officiating. A memorial service will be held for Spencer at Trinity Lutheran Church, Gillette, at 11 a.m. MST on Friday. Spencer was born to Roberta Ford of Beulah and Herman Hafner of Gillette, Wyo. on March 24, 1971 at the Bismarck Hospital. He graduated from Beulah High School in May of 1990. Spencer loved sports and was a member of the 1989 State Championship football team and was active in high school wrestling where he excelled and earned many awards which included placing in the top three during the North Dakota State wrestling meet in 1990. Spencer served in the National Guard for six years and at the time of his death was employed by Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. Spencer enjoyed the mountains, spending time with family and especially hunting and fishing with his life long friends from Beulah. He is survived by his mother and father; one brother, Patrick Hafner, Kingman, Ariz.; one sister, Erica Renner, Beulah; his maternal grandparents, Dale and Vernice Ford, Hazen; his paternal grandmother, Katie Hafner, Beulah; his special friend, Tanya Rains and her daughter, Dorothy whom Spencer considered his own, both of Gillette; also numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Herbert Hafner. The family requests that all memorials be given to the Beulah Quarterback Club or the Game and Fish Department or either North Dakota or Wyoming. (Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen)

Lloyd Hanson
Lloyd Hanson, 78, Bismarck, died Dec. 30, 2000 at his home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Steve Sathre officiating. Spring burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck. Lloyd was born on Jan. 2, 1922 at Bismarck, the son of Harry and Laura (Horn) Hanson. He attended schools in Sterling where he graduated from high school. He entered the Army in 1942, and served in the Pacific Theatre. Lloyd eloped with his sweetheart, Carrie Hapel on Sept. 24, 1942 in Moorhead, Minn. Following his discharge, he and Carrie made their home in Bismarck. Lloyd worked for the John Larson Construction Company for 40 years. He then began his own business and became affectionately known as "Mr. Fixit." Lloyd could often be seen on his rounds, "tooling" around Bismarck with his "Mr. Fixit" license plates attached to his 1982 Honda station wagon. Lloyd was active in his church and was also a life member of the Elks Lodge 1199, the American Legion and the Sons of Norway. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carrie; one brother, Clifford, Bismarck; one daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Charlie Volk, Bismarck; one son and daughter-in-law, Gregg and Debby Hanson, North Attleboro, Mass.; six grandchildren, Jennifer Jerik, Jamie Traynor, Andy and Libby Volk, and T.J. and Lindsey Hanson, and most importantly, his four great-grandsons, Alex, Sam, Ben and Charlie. Lloyd was preceded in death by one daughter, Judy Lies; two sisters and two brothers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or Bismarck Veterans' Memorial Public Library. (Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck)

Kendall Lee Hofmann
MEDINA -- Kendall Lee Hofmann, 37, Medina, died Dec. 30, 2000 in a Jamestown hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Medina High School Gymnasium, with burial in Medina Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; three sons, Zachary, Addison, and Camden, all of Medina; his parents, Donald and Lillian Hofmann, Medina, ND; one sister, Carrie Jessen, Solway, Minn.; and one brother, Eric, Denver, Colo. Marjorie Hoover
NEW ROCKFORD -- Marjorie Rangen Hoover, 81, New Rockford, formerly of Bismarck and Maddock, died Dec. 31, 2000 in the New Rockford nursing home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, at Grace Lutheran Brethren Church, Bismarck. Further arrangements are pending with Nelson Funeral Home, Fessenden.

Agnes Kraft
STRASBURG -- Agnes Kraft, 90, Strasburg, died Jan. 1, 2001 in the Strasburg care center. Arrangements are pending with Myers Funeral Home, Linton.

Catherine Schlosser
MOTT -- Catherine Schlosser, 90, Mott, died Dec. 31, 2000 at her home. Arrangements are pending with Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Mott.

Paul Ward
Paul Ward, 43, Mandan, died Jan. 1, 2001 at his home. Arrangements are pending with Bismarck Funeral Home.

Carol White
WATFORD CITY -- Carol White, 67, Watford City, died Jan. 1, 2001 in a Minot hospital. Arrangements are pending with Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City.

Lawrence Navratil
ZAP -- Lawrence "Larry" Navratil, 60, Zap, died Jan. 25, 2001, in the Hazen hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Zap, with the Rev. Richard Melchert officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. CST Tuesday in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. MST today at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah, and will continue at the church one hour before services. Lawrence was born Jan. 25, 1941, at Bismarck, the son of John and Rose (Geck) Navratil. He was raised on the family farm six miles east of Glen Ullin and attended Sacred Heart grade school and Glen Ullin public school. Lawrence entered the armed services in 1958 and was discharged in 1962. He worked at the Hebron brick plant for many years and then moved to Zap where he worked construction. He was united in marriage to Sandra Bauer on June 21, 1975. Lawrence was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Zap. He was an avid Viking fan and loved to play pinochle. He is survived by his wife, Sandra; one stepdaughter, Kris Bauer, Zap; two grandsons, Jayden and Jordan Bauer, Zap; his mother, Rose, Glen Ullin; one brother, Marvin, Glen Ullin; and one sister, Dianne Voegele, Bismarck. He was preceded in death by his father; one son, Joshua; and one stepson, Chad Bauer.

Robert J. Rolshoven
Robert J. Rolshoven, 37, Apple Valley, Minn., formerly of Mandan, died Jan. 22, 2001, near Jacksonville, Fla. Arrangements are pending at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan.

Jim Pladson
The Rev. Jim Pladson, 44, died Jan. 25, 2001, near Thompson Falls, Mont., of natural causes. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Metigoshe Christian Center, Lake Metigoshe. Further arrangements are pending with Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau.

Haven Thorsness
JAMESTOWN -- Haven Thorsness, 82, Jamestown, died Jan. 26, 2001, at his home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown. Burial will be in Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown. He is survived by two sons, Mark, Fargo, and Jay, Huron, S.D.; two daughters, Sheila Thorsness, Ogden, Utah, and Robin Moon, Grand Rapids, Minn.; and four grandchildren. Adela C. Pfeifle
ASHLEY -- Adela C. Pfeifle, 91, Ashley, died Feb. 15, 2000, in the Ashley nursing home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Zion Lutheran Church, Ashley, with the Rev. Jeff Giles officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. There will be visitation at the church one hour before services. Adela C. Graff, the daughter of Gottlieb and Louise (Kessler) Graff, was born March 27, 1908, at Hosmer, S.D. She grew up in this area while receiving her education in a country school. She helped on the family farm. She was united in marriage to Julius J. Pfeifle, on Oct. 28, 1928, in the Lutheran church in Venturia. They lived with his parents for 10 years. In 1943, they moved to a farm southeast of Ashley. They farmed there until 1949, when they purchased a farm five miles southwest of Ashley, where they raised small grains and livestock. They retired in 1962, and moved into Ashley. They were custodians of the Zion Lutheran Church in Ashley for five years. On Oct. 28, 1998, they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Mr. Pfeifle died April 13, 1999. Adela continued to live in the Ashley Nursing Home. Adela enjoyed reading. She also loved to cook and bake and was known for her pickles. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Adela was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she wsa very active in church circles. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Viola and Eddie Klein, West Fargo, and Alice B. Bender, Frederick, S.D.; six sons and four daughters-in-law, Elmer R. and Elenora, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, LeRoy R., Clinton, Iowa, Ervin and LaVon and Martin J., all of Fargo, Myron L. and Judy, Bismarck, and Kenneth R. and Carlotta, West Fargo; one brother, Fred Graff, Eureka, S.D.; 35 grandchildren; and 49 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one grandson; one sister; and four brothers. Honorary casketbearers will be the Ashley Nursing Home aides and nurses. Casketbearers will be Kevin Pfeifle, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Courtney Pfeifle, West Fargo, Jason Bender, Frederick, S.D., Steve Huebner, Moorhead, Minn., Brock Pfeifle, Fargo, and Jason Maunu, Barnard, S.D. The organist will be Elsie Sackmann, and special music will be performed by Elsie and Lorenz Sackmann.

Jaxson R. Schmit
Jaxson R. Schmit, the infant son of Rob and Julie (Leingang) Schmit, died Feb. 15, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Private services will be held at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, withthe Rev. Robert E. Feeney officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck. Jaxson is survived by his parents, Rob and Julie (Leingang) Schmit; one brother, Dylan, Bismarck; his grandparents, Geri Leingang, Bismarck, Joe Leingang, Ft. Collins, Colo., and Bob and Carol Schmit, Mandan.

Allen Bennett
ELDRIDGE -- Allen Bennett, 41, Eldridge, died Feb. 15, 2000 in Las Vegas, Nev. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. He is survived by his wife, June; three daughters, Amy, Fargo, and Cheri and Sara, both of Eldrige; one granddaughter; his parents, Albertus and Rosella Bennett, Jamestown; and one brother, Duane, Waverly, Iowa. Henry Biel
DICKINSON -- Henry Biel, 88, Dickinson, died Feb. 18, 2000 in the Dickinson nursing home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Tuesday, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson. Further arrangements are pending with Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson.

Esther Carlson
Esther Carlson, 97, Bismarck, formerly of Washburn, died Feb. 17, 2000 in a Bismarck care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at United Methodist Church, Washburn. Further arrangements are pending with Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn.

Romona Cunningham
Romona Cunningham, 59, 2019 1/2 Avenue E East, Bismarck, died Feb. 17, 2000 at her home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at Evangel Temple, Bismarck, with Revs. Arland Dwelle and Lloyd Jorgenson officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be from noon-9 p.m. today, and 2-9 p.m. Sunday, both at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Romona was born Dec. 5, 1940 at Grand Island, Neb., the daughter of Floyd and Florence (McClarkin) Cunningham. She moved with her family to Bowman in 1947 and in 1950 to Bismarck. She graduated from Bismarck High School. She was employed with Capitol Laundry and when AmeriPride Linen and Apparel Services bought the company, she remained working there. She was a member of Evangel Temple. Romona was preceded in death by her parents. (Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck)
