KILLDEER -- Rose L. Darwin, 91, Killdeer, died Jan. 6, 2001 in the Killdeer care center. Burial will be in Killdeer Cemetery. She is survived by two sons, Edward, Killdeer, and Ted, Casselton; three daughters, Evelyn Opsal, Lee's Summit, Mo., Phyllis Mittelstedt, Portland, Ore., Delores Stroh, Helena, Mont.; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Olga Jane Engelhardt
Olga Jane Hrisko Engelhardt, 79, Lodi, Calif., and formerly of Bismarck, died Jan. 7, 2001 in a Sacramento, Calif. hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Lodi, with burial in Cherokee Memorial Park. She is survived by her husband, Ervin; one daughter, Carol Hopkins, Lodi; two sons, Ervin, Folsom, Calif., and Rick, Lodi; and six grandchildren. (Lodi Funeral Home, Lodi, Calif.)

Robert Fischer
BEULAH -- Robert Fischer, 73, Beulah, died Jan. 8, 2001 in the Hazen hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Wednesday, at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah, with burial in Peace Cemetery, rural Beulah. He is survived by one son, Robert A. Fischer, Zap; one sister, Regina Fischer, Beulah; two stepdaughters, Irene Scheid, Hazen, and Loretta Weil, Fargo; two stepsons, Gene Weil, Bismarck, and Duane Weil, Mandan; eight step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. Herman Gimbel
HAZELTON -- Herman Gimbel, 85, Hazelton, died Jan. 6, 2001 in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hazelton, with the Rev. Eugen Roecker officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck, at 2 p.m. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. today at Myers Funeral Home, Linton, and one hour before the time of the service at the church on Wednesday. Herman, the son of William and Olga (Mulske) Gimbel, was born on May 25, 1915 at Hazelton. He was raised and educated in Hazelton. Herman began working for his father at Gimbel Produce when he was 14 years old. In 1928 Herman was named the first Emmons County Play Day Champion. On June 6, 1937 he married Christine Hauck at Hazelton and they made their home in Hazelton. Herman took over the family business after his father's death in 1939. From 1940 to 1950 he had one of the largest turkey picking places in the state. Herman lived in the same city block in Hazelton his entire life. His wife died May 26, 1998. Herman enjoyed telling stories and jokes, going goose hunting with Johnny Leier and traveling. Herman was a charter member of the Hazelton Lion's Club for 38 years and was very active in community organizations. He served as head usher for St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hazelton and was also a member of the Good Sam Club. Grateful to have shared in his life are his daughter, Jane Lang, Sterling; one foster daughter, Pudge Gustin, Bismarck; five grandchildren and their spouses: Vicky and Lon Peterson, Bruce and Wanda Lang, Fay and Mike Aipperspach, Lori and Jim Kershaw, and Alice and David Gross; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; and one sister, Magdalena Helfenstein, Kent, Wash. In addition to his wife, Herman was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Jake Zoller; two brothers, Mildred and Reinhold Gimbel; and one son-in-law, Donald Lang. The Hazelton Community will deeply miss Herman, his jokes and his little brown bug.

Bernice S. Greeno
WAHPETON -- Bernice S. Greeno, 72, Wahpeton, formerly of Jamestown, died Jan. 7, 2001 in a Wahpeton care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, with burial in Saron Cemetery, Roslyn, S.D., at 3:30 p.m. She is survived by her children: Rollie Jr., Apple Valley, Minn., Gregg, St. Michael, Minn., Trudi Smith, Wahpeton, and Gretchen McClain, Edgerton, Wis.; 8 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Harriet Svare, Grenville, S.D., and Adelyne Costello, San Diego, Calif.; and 1 brother, Harlan Storley, Roslyn, S.D.

Carson Helton
SYKESTON -- Carson "Leon" Helton, 66, Sykeston, formerly of Carrington, died Jan. 6, 2001 in the Carrington health center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at Calvary Baptist Church, Carrington, with burial in Carrington Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Gracie; her daughters, Glenda, Tulsa, Okla.; Teresa Helton, Carrington, Lynnette Helton, Carrington; her sons, Carson, Oklahoma City, Okla., Brent, Carrington; brothers, Herbert, Lancaster, Calif., Wayne, St. Charles, Mo.; sisters, Jean Donegan, Antioch, Tenn., June Larson, Carrington, Judy Keller, Paradise, Calif; and seven grandchildren. Henry Jacobson
DICKINSON -- Henry Jacobson, 84, Dickinson, died Jan. 8, 2001 in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MST Wednesday, at Daglum Lutheran Church, rural South Heart. Further arrangements are pending with Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson.

Myrtle Johnson
NOME -- Myrtle Johnson, Nome, died Jan. 7, 2001, in the Valley City hospital. Services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, at Zion Lutheran Church, Nome, with the Rev. Brad Edin officiating. There will be no public visitation. Myrtle was born Aug. 31, 1912 on a farm near Kathryn. As a young girl she accompanied her parents, Sever and Helga Fjeld, and her two older sisters to Hemet, Calif. The family lived there a few years before moving back to Kathryn. She did her schooling there graduating from the Nome High School. On June 8, 1936, Myrtle married Samuel Johnson on the Fjeld farm near Kathryn. In addition to farming in the Nome area for many years, she taught in rural schools in the area and lived in various locations out West. After raising her family on the farm near Nome, she returned to college, graduating in 1965 from Valley City State University. She taught for several years in Eden Valley, Minn. Until her recent illness, she lived out her retirement on the family farm near Nome. Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Johnson, her son, Marshall, her parents, two sisters and a brother. She is survived by her sons, David (Marlys), Pauls Valley, Okla., and Larry (Mae), St. Bonifacius, Minn., and a daughter, Kathy, Dickinson; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Grace Solheim, Coon Rapids, Minn.; one brother, Spencer (Carol) Fjeld, Hawley, Minn; and one sister-in-law, Marjorie Fjeld, Valley City and nieces and nephews. Lorene Kiilsgaard, 71, formerly of Bismarck, died Jan. 6, 2001 in a care center in Fitchbury, Wis. Arrangements are pending with Boelter Funeral Home, Bismarck.

Regina Miller
Regina Miller, 80, St. Vincent's Care Center, died Jan. 8, 2001 at the center. Arrangements are pending with Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan.

Mary Odermann
MINOT -- Mary Odermann, 45, Minot, died Jan. 7, 2001 in a Minot hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church, Minot. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Kent; one son, Kyle; one daughter, Kayla; her parent, Lee Ella Edwards, Parshall; one brother, Bruce Edwards, Grand Rapids, Minn.; her sisters, Dorothy Dell, Columbus, Ohio, Alice Burton, Salinas, Calif., Helen Edwards, Seaside, Calif., and Lois Zacher, Parshall. Reinhold Seibel
Reinhold "Reiny" Seibel, 75, Bismarck, died Jan. 8, 2001 at his home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at McCabe United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Art Scanson officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be from 7:30-9 p.m. today and 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Wednesday, at Eastgate Funeral Service, where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Reiny was born March 20, 1925 in Campbell County, S.D., the son of George and Rosina Seibel. Reiny was raised and educated in Campbell County. He married Johanna Munsch on Aug. 4, 1950 and they had five children. He did construction work and dairy farming. They lived in various places in North Dakota and South Dakota before moving to the Moffit are in 1976, where they did dairy farming. They retired in 1994 and moved to Bismarck. Reiny belonged to several organizations and was a member of McCabe United Methodist Church. He enjoyed traveling, sightseeing, playing cards and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Johanna; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Edward, Bismarck, and Waldon and Georgene, Moffit; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Clyde Graff, Bismarck, and Betty and Richard Haase, Wheaton, Minn.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Lydia and Willis Ryckman and Janice Becker; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Henry Seibel, George and Lorri Seibel, and Willie and Lois Seibel; three sisters-in-law, Elvera Seibel, Mavis Georing and Kathy Seibel; and one brother-in-law, Milton Salzer. He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant son; three brothers and one sister. (Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck)

Leo Jacob Stauss
Leo Jacob Stauss, 75, Baker, Mont., died Jan. 7, 2001 in a Miles City, Mont. health center. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. MST Wednesday, at St. John's Catholic Church, Baker. Burial will follow in the family lot of the St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Baker. He is survived by his wife, Katherine Stauss; three daughters Phyllis Twiford, Terry, Mont., Marcella Gappert, New Salem, Rosanne Varner, Baker; two sisters, Hilma Bethke, Mandan, Della Mosbrucker, Billings, Mont.; and nine grandchildren. Mary Wagner
Mary Wagner, 91, Sterling, Colo., died Feb. 10, 2000 in a Sterling, Colo. nursing home. A memorial service will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, Halliday, at a later date. She is survived by two daughters, Betty Larson, McVille, and Carol Elkins, Aurora, Colo.; three sons, Robert, Sterling, Colo., the Rev. Bill Wagner, Hazen, and the Rev. David Wagner, Levittown, Penn.; one brother, Milton Cole Jr., and one sister, Doris Huntley; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. (Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah)

Lillie A. Bauer
Lillie A. Bauer, 86, Bismarck, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, died Feb. 16, 2000, peacefully at her home. Services wil be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Todd Hylden officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Bismarck Funeral Home and will continue at the church one hour before services. Lillie was born July 31, 1913, near Tuttle, on the homestead farm of her parents, Hans and Dina (Friestad) Johnson. She grew up there and graduated from Tuttle High School. After receiving a two-year standard diploma from Minot State Teachers College, she taught in rural schools in Killdeer and McLean counties. While teaching, Lillie met and married Wilbur (Bill) Bauer on Aug. 15, 1940. They lived and helped with farming on his parents' farm near Coleharbor. Later they moved to Bismarck. Lillie did some substitute teaching in Bismarck. When her children grew older she started working in retail sales at Morrey Alans, and later the A.W. Lucas Co. Lillie and Bill lived at their current home for almost 40 years. They enjoyed dining out, dancing, and also traveled and collected glassware. Lillie enjoyed her neighbors and friends. She took great pride in caring for her family and her home. She loved flowers and gardening. Her creativity was evident in her flower arranging, decorating, sewing and other handiwork. Lillie was an excellent cook and made delicious Norwegian baked goods. She bowled and played bridge for many years, and cherished the long lasting friendships she made during these activities. Her study club and friends were especially important to her. Lillie is survived by her husband, Bill; two daughters, Carmen Woodmansee, Bismarck, and Jackie Bauer, Seattle; one grandson, Scott Woodmansee and his wife, Kelly, Bismarck; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Judy and Clois Hetletved, Robinson, and Gladys and Vernon Luybeck, Phoenix; one brother and sister-in-law, Edwin and Adelaide Johnson, Tuttle; one brother-in-law, Joe Larson, Sioux Falls, S.D.; many nieces and nephews, including Karen and Tom Weigel, and her husband Bill's extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Helen Keller, Alta Johnson and Palma Larson; and one brother-in-law, Russ Keller. The family prefers memorials to Medcenter One Hospice or American Cancer Society.

NEW ROCKFORD -- Myrtle Bergrud, 94, New Rockford, died Feb. 28, 2000 in the New Rockford nursing home. Arrangements are pending with Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford.

Charles V. Broxmeyer, 67, Bismarck, died Feb. 28, 2000 in a local hospital. Arrangements are pending with Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck.

John Dirkach
BELFIELD -- John Dirkach, 84, Belfield, formerly of Dunn Center, died Feb. 27, 2000 in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. MST Thursday, at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with burial in Killdeer Cemetery.
He is survived by three daughters, Gerri Pearson and Bonnie Kuck, both of Billings, Mont., and Collette Kirsch, Belfield; one son, Darcy, Dunn Center; two sisters, Katie Kohones and Mary Velenchenko, both of Dickinson; and 11 grandchildren. (Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson)

Pauline Emineth
Pauline Emineth, Mandan, died Feb. 28, 2000 at her home. Arrangements are pending with Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan.
