DICKINSON -- Gwendolen Hellickson, 91, Dickinson, died Jan. 9, 2001 in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MSt Friday, at Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson. Burial will be in Medora Community Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Leon; three sons, Dayton, Holbrook, Ariz., Mylo, Brookings, S.D., and Martin, Corvallis, Ore.; and three grandchildren. Dorothy Hill
GARRISON -- Dorothy Hill, 75, Garrison, died Jan. 10, 2001 at her home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Roseglen. Further arrangements are pending with Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison.

Anton Krenzel
BEULAH -- Anton "Tony" Krenzel, 82, Knife River Care Center, Beulah, died Jan. 9, 2001 at the care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Cyprian Meier officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. A vigil service followed by a rosary will be held at 6:15 p.m. Friday, with visitation from 1-9 p.m. Friday at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Tony was born July 17, 1918 near Dodge, to Florian and Marianna (Messmer) Krezel. He was raised and educated in Halliday. On Nov. 15, 1939, he married Emelia Weisenberger in St. Martins Catholic Church, Dodge. Tony and Emelia farmed south of Halliday until 1960. They then moved to Bismarck and he worked for Northern Improvement until he retired in 1980. He is survived by his wife, Emelia; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Matt and Ruby Krenzel, Beulah, Jerry and LaVonne Krenzel, Jamestown; two sisters, Eva Schroeder, Bismarck, Elizabeth Plotzke, Dodge; one sister-in-law, Barbara Krenzel, Dickinson; four grandchildren, Barry and Evanda Krenzel, Jamestown, James Krenzel Jr., Jamestown, Jodi and Virgil Kautzman, Mandan, Ryan and Debbie Krenzel, Lincoln; five great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Tony was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jimmy; two brothers, Steven and Florian; and two sisters, Helen Fettig and Monica Klee. (Perry Funeral Home, Mandan)

Michael Medeiros, 39, Bismarck, died Jan. 8, 2001 at his home. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, at North Dakota Veterans' Cemetery, Mandan. Arrangements with Bismarck Funeral Home.

Regina Miller
Regina Miller, 80, Bismarck, died Jan. 8, 2001, in a Bismarck care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Thursday at St. Gertrude's Catholic Church, Raleigh, with the Rev. Gary L. Benz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Regina (Ternes) Miller was born Sept. 18, 1920, in rural Grant County. She was the daughter of Anton R. and Marcellina (Gross) Ternes. Regina was raised and educated in Raleigh, attending rural country schools. She continued her education at the Scholastic School in Duluth for one year. On Oct. 14, 1940, she married Lambert R. Miller at St. Gertrude's Catholic Church in Raleigh. Regina was a member of St. Gertrude's Christian Mothers and Homemakers Club of Raleigh. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, sewing, gardening, reading, playing cards, especially pinochle, and she loved to sing. She is survived by her husband, Lambert; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Edwin, Raleigh, Charles and Marlene, Raleigh, Randall and Brenda, McMinnville, Ore., and Sidney and Brenda, Bismarck; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Rosemary and William Harris, Springfield, Ore., Sandra Tessier, Bismarck, Lillian and Mark Hoffman, Flasher, and Phyllis and Ron Braun, Rawlins, Wyo.; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ex and Marie Ternes, McIntosh, S.D., and Emil and Angie Ternes, Milton, Wash.; and five sisters and four brothers-in-law, Anne Riehl, Watauga, S.D., Mary and Val Fettig, Blaine, Minn., Margie and John Leintz, Bismarck, Darlene and Jim Soucy, Fargo, and Alvina and Al Lenerville, Spearfish, S.D. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Pius Miller; one son-in-law, Richard Tessier; one infant brother, Joseph Ternes; and five sisters, Philomena Miller, Appolonia Volk, Bernadette Trom, Theresa Stewart and Renata Ternes (infant).

WEST FARGO -- Irene I. Stadick, 59, West Fargo, died Jan. 9, 2001 at her home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, at St. Bonaventure's Catholic Church, Underwood, with burial in the church cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Duane; three sons, Kenneth, Underwood, Kevin, Brooklyn Park, Minn., and Karl, West Fargo; two daughters, Koren Stadick, Mapleton, and Corisa Stadick, Sioux Falls, S.D.; one grandson; and five sisters, Idise Holland, Mt. Vernon, Wash., Ida Alexander, Lewistown, Mont., Ione Heger, Underwood, Lillian Mayer, Sedro Wooley, Wash., and Catherine Putney, Pinole, Calif. (Goetz Funeral Home, Underwood)

Ellen Mae Wutzke
Ellen Mae Wutzke, 81, Mandan, died Jan. 9, 2001 in a Mandan nursing home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, at First Lutheran Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Charlie Axness officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Elgin, at 3 p.m. CST on Friday. Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. today, at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a Moose Ritual will be held at 7 p.m. tonight followed by a prayer service at 7:15 p.m., all at the funeral home. Ellen Mae (Hubbell) Wutzke was born Dec. 29, 1919 in Wing, the daughter of Grant and Agnes (Brom) Hubbell. Ellen attended elementary school in Wing, high school in McClusky, Jamestown College and graduated from Capital Commercial College. Ellen lived her childhood in Lincoln Valley and Shields, N.D. Ellen married Julius Bartels on Oct. 4, 1941 in Elgin. During World War II, Ellen lived with her parents in Medford, Ore., while her husband, Julius, served in the Army in Guam. After the war, Ellen and Julius and children farmed south of Elgin, and later moved into Elgin. Ellen worked as a receptionist for Dr. M. S. Jacobson for 21 years in Elgin. Since 1994, Ellen has lived in Mandan. Julius passed away on Nov. 20, 1965 and Ellen continued her interests in family, church, friends, crocheting, quilting and fishing. On Nov. 13, 1971, Ellen married Carl Wutzke in Elgin. They were together until Oct. 17, 1993, when Carl passed away. Ellen is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Kerry and Marie, Biloxi, Miss., Donald and Debra, Phoenix, Ore.; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Sharon and Jim McNaughton, Rogers, Ark., Patricia and Carl Berg, Phoenix, Ariz., Kathryn and Mike Haggen, Mandan, Marilyn and Jeffrey Palmer, Stanley, Wis., and Judy Bartels, St. Paul, Minn.; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Etcil Hubbell, Fort Myers, Fla., and Dorothy and Frank Selto, Tacoma, Wash. Ellen served as a church organist for 21 years at the Zion Lutheran Church in Elgin. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Elgin, and First Lutheran Church, Mandan, and Mandan Women of the Moose. Ellen was preceded in death by her husbands, Julius Bartels and Carl Wutzke, an infant son, her parents; and two brothers. Ellen lived a full life of 81 years and 11 days. She was known to be kind, caring and compassionate, and will be missed by all. "The Lord watch between me and thee, while we are absent one from the other." (Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan)

Nick Cartwright
HARVEY -- Nick Cartwright, 93, Harvey, and formerly of Anamoose, died Jan. 9, 2001 in the Harvey hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Anamoose, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Pauline; three daughters, Mary Lou Albert, Fargo, Angeline Kesler, Anamoose, Arla Mae Vannett, Hermiston, Ore.; one son, Ronald, Las Vegas; 24 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; and one stepbrother, Charles Brown, Nehalem, Ore. DICKINSON -- Blanche Cummings, 92, Dickinson, died Jan. 9, 2001 in a Dickinson nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MST Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Dickinson. Further arrangements are pending with Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson.

Tony Dasenko
Tony Dasenko, 71, Mandan, died Jan. 11, 2001 in a Bismarck hospital after a long and valiant battle with cancer. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at First Lutheran Church, Mandan, with the Revs. Charlie Axness and Richard Hagestuen (retired) officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Sunday at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan. Tony was born Nov. 17, 1929, the son of Dennis and Helena Dasenko. Tony was raised and educated in McClusky. Tony was a hard worker and at the age of 14, began working as a truck driver for J.O. Hansen, hauling wild horses to Jamestown, and cattle to Fargo. Tony served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was awarded two Bronze Stars. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Sgt. 1st Class. Tony moved to Mandan and went to work for Standard Oil. On July 11, 1954, Tony married Marlene Carlson. They soon opened Tony's Standard Service, and operated that business for seven years. Tony then began his long career as a car salesman, where he made many friends and won numerous salesmanship awards. He retired in 1995 and was a member of First Lutheran Church, American Legion and the VFW. Tony is survived by his wife, Marlene; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Roger and Sherri Arenz, Mandan, Barbara Dasenko, Mandan, Michael and Pam Adams, Mandan; three grandchildren, Joseph Arenz, Jonathan Arenz, both of St. Cloud, Minn., and Kristy Adams, Mandan; five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Hilda Reiswig, Bismarck, Veona Hanson, Turtle Lake, Pauline and Arnold Nuernberg, Reno, Nev., Rose and Marvin Lethlan, Reno, and Ann Otzel, Sterling Heights, Mich. Tony also will be missed by his special little buddy "Ozzie" his dog, a Chinese Pug that was at his side until the end. Tony was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Joe and Don. Nancy Ellen Edinger
BENEDICT -- Nancy Ellen Edinger, 39, rural Benedict and formerly of McClusky, died Jan. 9, 2001 in a Minot hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at First Assembly of God Church, Minot. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Benedict Methodist Cemetery, rural Benedict. She is survived by her husband, Brad; her mother, Nida Lasher, McClusky; her brothers, Vernon and Kenneth Lasher, both of McClusky. (Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot)

Oford Boe
TIOGA -- Oford Boe, 85, Tioga, died Jan. 17, 2001, in the Tioga hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Tioga, withburial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Rose; and one step-daughter, Jane Christiana, San Jose, Calif. (Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga)

Lucy I. Christ
Lucy I. Christ, 65, Mandan, died Jan. 17, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Lutheran Church of the Cross, Bismarck. She was born Sept. 27, 1935, in Leavenworth, Kan., the daughter of Henry F. and Mary Irene (Reynolds) Smith. She was raised and educated in Leavenworth, graduating from Leavenworth Senior High School in 1953. She married Dan Christ on Feb. 12, 1955, at Leavenworth. The marriage was blessed with three daughters in consecutive years. In 1959, the family moved to Lompoc, Calif., where they lived until 1978. Lucy was actively involved in her daughter's school activities and the prison ladies auxiliary club. She enjoyed entertaining her bridge club, reading science fiction, expert level crossword puzzles, jigsaws, making crafts and learning to hula dance. They moved to Mandan in 1978, when Dan was transferred by the federal prison system as community programs manager. Lucy's gradual and complete loss of hearing during her 30s and 40s limited her ability to enjoy community services, but she continued to entertain family and friends who enjoyed her efforts tremendously. In 1986, Lucy was the first North Dakota resident to receive a Cochlear implant, which allowed her to resume some of her former activities including bridge and conversation with family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Dan; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Brad King, Bismarck, Lynn and Jim Vikse, Craig, Colo., and Rae and Ron Schaaf, Prosser, Neb.; two granddaughters and six grandsons; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Julia Ann and Jim Thomson, Barrington, Ill., her twin sister, Lucille Patterson, Independence, Mo., and Betty and Richard Pierson, Sierra Vista, Ariz.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Barbara Smith, Lansing, Kan., and David and Meg Smith, Cary, N.C., and Joe and Frances Smith, Coos Bay, Ore. Memories of her laughter and smiles will be treasured by those who loved her. Memorials to the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation or the American Diabetes Foundation are preferred. Ellen M. Fiedler
Memorial services for Ellen M. Fiedler, 76, Mott, will be held at 11 a.m. MST Saturday at United Church of Christ, Mott, with the Rev. Dwight Albers officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyslope Cemetery, Mott. Special music will be provided by David and Peggy Crane, and Wade Hoherz. Serving as honorary bearers will be Wanda Norton, Art Wolf, Wade, Chad, Kevin and David Hoherz, Moe, Marla and Nancy Mosher, David Crane, Rose McNeil and Red Watson. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today at Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Mott, and from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at United Church of Christ. A memorial has been established to the Mott Swimming Pool Fund. Ellen Mae Sahr was born July 15, 1924, at Conrad, Mont., to Arthur Garfield and Esther Evangeline (Dougherty) Sahr. The family moved from Montana to the New England area in 1926, and then moved to Mott in 1939. Ellen graduated from Mott Lincoln High School in 1942. She was united in marriage to John A. Fiedler at Coeur D'Alene, Idaho. Ellen and John farmed southwest of Mott until their retirement in 1990. Ellen worked for many years for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation District now known as the Farm Service Agency. Her work allowed her the opportunity to help local farmers. In her later years she especially enjoyed her retirement, working crossword puzzles, visiting with family and friends, and enjoying life's simple pleasures. Her life was her home, family and friends, and dedicated to the love she gave and shared with all. Ellen passed from this life on Jan. 16, 2001, at her home in Mott at the age of 76 years, six months and one day. Thankful for having shared her life are her husband of 59 years, John A. Fiedler Sr., Mott; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kathy and Mike Hale, Hot Springs, Ark., Karen Bailor, Shelton, Wash., and Donna and George Clapp, Naperville, Ill.; one son and daughter-in-law, John and Peggy Fiedler, Mott; nine grandchildren, Michael and Karen Hale, Tyler and Ellen Clapp, Rem and Simche Bailor, Kate, and Joe and Claire Fiedler; two great-grandsons, Adrian and Josh Hale; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Eileen and Moe Mosher, Mott, Arta Hoherz, Bentley, and Donna and Tom Taylor, Oceanside, Calif. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents.

Violet Il Holm
JAMESTOWN -- Violet Il Holm, 87, Jamestown, died Jan. 17, 2001, in the Jamestown hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, with burial in Kensal Cemetery. She is survived by one daughter, Marlys Vining, Jamestown; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
