Lawrence Selander
Lawrence Selander, 60, Fargo, died Tuesday, May 18, 2004 in his home. No services were held.
Lawrence Selander, son of George and Siama (Heikeila) Selander was born on November 12, 1943 in Lakota, N.D. He grew up and attended school at Enderlin. Lawrence served in the Navy from 1960-1964. After leaving the Navy he moved to Minneapolis where he lived for a number of years.
In 1992, he married Nelia Tresmanio. They moved to Fargo and have lived there since 1994. Lawrence had been working at Scherling Photography until becoming ill.
He is survived by his wife, Nelia, Fargo; sister, Marian (Jerry) Anderson, Enderlin; and one brother, George Selander, Greenville, Texas.
Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo was in charge of arrangements.

Pearl B. Ulland
Pearl B. Ulland, 74, died Sunday, May 16, 2004 after injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Gillette, Wyo. Funeral services will be held at a later date.
Pearl Beverly Ulland, daughter of Lars and Johanna (Tysseland) Ulland was born on December 5, 1929 in Lidgerwood, N.D. She was raised and educated in Lidgerwood. After her schooling she helped her mother and brothers work on the family farm after her father’s death. As a young adult, she worked as a waitress at area cafes in Lisbon and Lidgerwood. In the late 70s, she began a daycare in her home. She continued caring for children until last September, when she had surgery for lung cancer. Pearl was baptized and confirmed at the Bergen Lutheran Church, where she was a lifetime member.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Gayle (John) Blatter, Rock Springs, Wyo.; one brother, Leif (Julia) Ulland, Minneapolis; one sister-in-law, Lorraine Ulland, Lisbon, and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Sigurd, Thomas, Kenneth, Palmer and Stanley.
Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home, Gillette and Frank Family Funeral Home, Lidgerwood, were in charge of arrangements.

Lois E. Strickland
Funeral services for Lois E. Strickland, 74, Fargo, were held on Thursday, May 27, 2004 at First United Methodist Church in Fargo. Mrs. Strickland died Monday, May 24, 2004 at MeritCare Hospital, South Campus, Fargo.
Lois Elaine Domm, daughter of Walter and Alta (Nulph) Domm was born on November 22, 1929 at Wyndmere. She grew up and attended school at Wyndmere. She worked in the Red Owl and JC Penney stores in Lisbon.
On July 27, 1951, she married William Strickland in Lisbon. They lived in Detroit Lakes and she was employed at the JC Penney store. They later moved to St. Cloud and Duluth. They moved to Hawley, Minn., in 1970 and owned and operated Bill’s Red Owl for ten years. They moved to Fargo and owned and operated the Book Cellar at West Acres for ten years.
She is survived by her husband, William Strickland, Fargo; two daughters, Donna (Lewis) Lyons, Enderlin, Vickie Strickland, Fargo; one son, Don (Mary Lynn) Strickland, Rogers, Minn.; five grandchildren; one brother, Frank (Patty) Domm, Wahpeton, two sisters, Eileen Duncan, Fargo and Carol Plombon, Hutchinson, Minn. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Arnold and Walter and one sister, Edna.
Interment at Lakeside Cemetery in Milnor.
Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, was in charge of arrangements.

Roy W. Daub
Funeral services for Roy W. Daub, 98, Devils Lake, formerly of Valley City and Dazey, N.D., were held on Monday, July 12, 2004 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Dazey. Reverend Dan Faust officiated. Mr. Daub died Thursday, July 8, 2004 at the Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake.
Roy Winiford Daub was born on April 16, 1906 in Moore Township, Ransom County, N.D. He attended Moore School and later North Dakota State University, Fargo.
On December 26, 1928, he married Esther Helena Robertson in Osage, Iowa. They made their home near Enderlin. In 1939 they moved to Nome, N.D. and in 1963 to Dazey. All the while, Roy drove a gravel truck for Glen Daub Gravel Company and for Barnes County. They wintered in the western United States including Colorado and Utah for 30 winters. Esther died in December of 1999. Roy was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his son, Allan (Jo) Daub, Gothenburg, Neb.; two daughters, Florene Rogne, Devils Lake, Pauline (Vaughn) Hesse, Grand Forks; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister Madeline Fraedrich, Carlton, Minn.; sisters-in-law, Erma Daub and Margaret Daub, both Enderlin and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, five brothers and a son-in-law Carl Rogne.
Interment at Dazey Cemetery, Dazey.
Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City, was in charge of arrangements.

Delbert B. Howey
Funeral services for Delbert B. Howey, 93, Lisbon, were held on Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Lisbon. Father Andrew Dudzinski officiated. Mr. Howey died Saturday, July 10, 2004 at Lisbon Area Health Services.
Delbert B. Howey, son of Abram and Edith (Hanna) Howey was born on December 31, 1910 in rural Lisbon. He attended school in rural Lisbon and Lisbon High School.
On July 3, 1939, he married Rosalia Schmidt in Lisbon. They farmed in Big Bend and Tuller Townships near Lisbon. They retired in 1975. They moved into Lisbon in 1992.
He is survived by his wife Rosalia Howey, Lisbon; two sons, Dennis (Sue), Gwinner, Donovan, Lisbon; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Ray (Sue), Quinlan, Texas; seven sisters, Ruth (Hubert) Inderlie, Albert Lea, Minn., Lois Perkins, Vancouver, Wash., Helen Haecherl, Vancouver, Wash., Florence Ryder, Vancouver, Wash., Grace Kinney, Lisbon, Isabel Jensen, Lisbon, and Gertrude McDaniel, Forman.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Tanya Howey, Teri Howey, James Howey, Cliff Howey, Tammy Coblentz, and Nathan Coblentz. Honory pallbearers were his great-grandchildren.
Music was provided by organist Carol McCann and soloist Sylvia Holmstrom.
Interment at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery, Lisbon.
Armstrong Funeral Home, was in charge of arrangements.

Carl D. Johnson
Funeral services for Carl D. Johnson, 65, Milnor, were held on Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at the Milnor Lutheran Church. Reverend Julie Johnson officiated. Mr. Johnson died Saturday, July 10, 2004 at the Fort Ransom State Park, Fort Ransom.
Carl Duane Johnson, son of Eugene and Hilda (Thompson) Johnson was born on October 7, 1938 in Lisbon. He grew up and attended Scoville Country School near Lisbon. After his schooling, he worked at the Lisbon Creamery and for area farmers.
On August 20, 1961, he married Marlys Sweet in Lisbon. The couple lived near Milnor and Carl worked at the Farmers Union and Land O’Lakes in Milnor. Carl was presently employed by Saxerud Inc. in Lisbon. He was a member of the Milnor Lutheran Church, Fort Ransom Arena Association and the Fort Ransom Sodbusters Association.
He is survived by his wife, Marlys, Milnor; three sons, Danny (Dianna), Cogswell, Randy (Tina), Milnor, and Rick (Sandy) Lisbon; two daughters, Kathy (Steve) Schultz, Lisbon, Vicki (Ron Schenck) Krueger, West Fargo; fourteen grandchildren; two sisters, Carol (Dale) Odegard, Milnor, Bette (Ed) Puchalski, Marion, Mont.; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Rodney Anderson, Paul Nelson, Dennis Wheeler, Harlan Wilke, Clint Devitt and Lee Tiede.
Special music was provided by Carol and Jonathan Ydstie.
Interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Lisbon.
Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Milnor, was in charge of arrangements.

Walter H. Schiffner
Memorial services for Walter H. Schiffner, 80, Hermiston, Ore., were held on Wednesday, July 7, 2004 in the chapel at Burns Mortuary, Hermiston, Ore. Mr. Schiffner died Saturday, July 3, 2004 at his daughter’s home in Hermiston.
Walter Henry Schiffner, son of Jacob and Amelia Arndt Schiffner was born on January 27, 1924 at Englevale, N.D.. He graduated from Cleveland High School in 1942. He served four years in the Navy during WWII.
On July 3, 1950, he married Florence Margaret King at Angola, Ind. Mr. Schiffner was the fire chief at Umatilla Army Depot for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Florence Schiffner, Hermiston; one son, Darrell Schiffner; two daughters, Deborah Myers and Cheryl Rhea, all of Hermiston; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five brothers, Bill Schiffner and Robert Schiffner, both of Hermiston, Lester Schiffner and Theodore (Bud) Schiffner, both of Lisbon, and Albert Schiffner, Pontiac, Mich.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters.
Disposition was by cremation.
Burns Mortuary, Hermiston, was in charge of arrangements.
