August Wanner
TAPPEN -- August Wanner, 88, Tappen, died Jan. 2, 2001, in a Jamestown care center. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Napoleon, with burial in Glueckstal Lutheran Cemetery, rural Tappen. He is survived by three sons, Harry, Tappen, Rodney, Bismarck, and Roy, Tappen; three daughters, Barbara Moser, Jamestown, Betty Ueke, Mesa, Ariz., and June Kramlich, Bismarck; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Tillena Jobe, San Leandro, Calif., Frieda Rath, Apple Valley, Minn., and Lillian Olson, Medina; and five brothers, Vernon, Billings, Mont., Ervin, Bismarck, Art, Fort Worth, Texas, Harold, Medina, and Allen, Mandan. Thomas Wayne Wells
WAKPALA, S.D. -- Thomas Wayne Wells, 45, Wakpala, died Dec. 27, 2000, in Wakpala. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church, Wakpala. Further arrangements are pending.

Laurine Wolt
Laurine Wolt, 76, 3623 Overlook Drive, died Jan. 2, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Century Baptist Church, Bismarck, with the Revs. Gordon Stork and Dr. Willis Potratz officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Service, and will continue at the church one hour before services. Laurine was born Jan. 21, 1924, to Reinhart and Emma (Bauer) Pfaff. She was raised and educated in the rural Cleveland area. On Feb. 20, 1944, she married Walter Wolt. They made their home on the Wolt homestead south of Tappen, where they lived for 38 years. They retired from the farm and moved to Bismarck in 1982. Laurine enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, baking, and spending time with her family, especially her three granddaughters. Laurine is survived by her husband, Walter; one son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Tammie, Olathe, Kan.; one daughter and son-in-law, Shelley and Mike Haas, Bismarck; three granddaughters, Kristen, Rachel and Rebecca, all of Bismarck; three sisters, Arloa Brane, Glendive, Mont., Betty Klundt, Medina, and Phyllis Kapfer, Bismarck; and two brothers, Lloyd Pfaff, College Place, Wash., and Wally Pfaff, Jamestown. She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Eldena Pfaff; and one brother, Raymond Pfaff.

Victoria Susann Almer
TIOGA -- Victoria Susann Almer, 41, Tioga, died of cancer Jan. 3, 2001, in the Tioga hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church, Tioga. She is survived by her husband, Steven; two sons, Nick Almer, Jacksonville, Fla., and Alex Almer, Tioga; one stepson, Jeremy Almer, Tioga; one daughter, Angel Almer, Williston; her parents, Walter and Susann Holzwarth, Mandan; one grandson; and one brother, Robert Holzworth, Calgary, Alberta, Canada. DICKINSON -- Frank Berger, 83, Dickinson, died Jan. 4, 2001, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. MST Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Dickinson. Further arrangements are pending at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson.

Helen Bruski
WIBAUX, Mont. -- Helen Bruski, 93, Wibaux, died Jan. 2, 2001, in the Wibaux nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MST Monday at St. Philip's Catholic Church, St. Philip's, with burial in St. Philip's Cemetery. She is survived by two sons, Leonard Bruski, Auburn, Wash., and Lawrence Bruski, Gillette, Wyo.; three daughters, Pauline White, Plentywood, Marguerite Sommerfeld, Bridger, Mont., and Janice Smith, Custer, Mont.; eight sisters, Sophia Goroski, Teresa Dobrowski, Pauline Dobrowski, Verna Sokoloski, Anna Marynik and Rosie Granat, all of Wibaux, Elizabeth Susa, Baker, Mont., and Marion Wosepka, Dickinson; 22 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Kenneth Buelow, 63, died Dec. 28, 2000. Survivors include two sisters, Verda Stuhlmiller and Shirley Walth, both of Bismarck; and two brothers, Gary, Bismarck, and Wally, Carson City, Nev.

DICKISNON -- Frank X. Berger, 83, Dickinson, died Jan. 4, 2001, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. MST today, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Dickinson. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Dickinson. He is survived by his wife, Emma; three daughters, Geraldine "Gerry" Harnett, Peoria, Ariz., Donna Marie Dukart, Dickinson, Diane Heidt, Sturgis, S.D.; one stepdaughter and one stepson; five grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren; five sisters, Sister Gertrude O.S.B., Garrison, Monica Fischer, Dickinson, Wilhelmina Focht and Fredericktown, Ohio, Veronica Baar, Dickinson, and Catherine Barta, Billings, Mont.; three brothers, Anton, Valley City, Leo, Mansfield, Ohio, and Jack, Wheatland, Wyo.; four stepbrothers and three stepsisters. Felix John Dauenhauer
Felix John Dauenhauer, 74, Georgetown Lake, Mont., died Dec. 19, 2000 of cancer. A memorial service was held on Dec. 22, 2000 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Missoula. He is survived by his wife, Tillie; eight sons, Ron, Charlotte, N.C., Allen, Missoula, Mont., Kenny, Kalispell, Mont., Bryan, Georgetown Lake, Duane and Tom, both of Missoula, Mark, Butte, Mont., and Patrick, Missoula; five daughters, Susan Bache, Lolo, Mont., Cindy Callery, Leitchfield, Ky., Karen Funston, Linda Strozzi and Debbie Hess, all of Georgetown Lake; one brother, Eugene, Mandan; six sisters, Gladys Brandl, Virginia Beach, Va., Delores Klein, BIsmarck, Vi Kellar, Turlock, Calif., Lorraine Gerhart, Missoula, Lori Christensen, Missoula, and Betty Currier, St. Maries, Idaho; and 30 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Reinhilda Doll
Reinhilda "Reinie" Doll, 69, Glendive, Mont., died Jan. 5, 2001, in the Glendive hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Tuesday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glendive, with the Rev. Michael Guinan officiating. Burial will be in Dawson Memorial Cemetery, Glendive. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. MST Monday, at Chapel of the Silvernale Silha Funeral Home, Glendive.

Agnes T. Emil
Agnes T. Emil, 81, died Jan. 4, 2001 in a Mandan care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, at Church of St. Joseph, Mandan, with the Rev. Patrick Schumacher officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon-9 p.m. Sunday, with a Catholic Daughters Rosary at 4 p.m. Sunday, and a parish vigil at 7 p.m. all at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan. Visitation will continue on Monday until the service time at the funeral home. Agnes was born on Dec. 5, 1919 in Fort Rice, the daughter of John and Agnes (Mann) Balkowitsch. She was raised and educated in Fort Rice and Mandan, graduating from Mandan High School in 1938. After graduating from high school, Agnes worked as a nurse's aide at the Mandan Hospital. On Nov. 23, 1941, she married John R. Emil in Cheyenne, Wyo. While John was serving in the European Theatre during World War II, Agnes moved to Washington state (Yakima area) and supported the war effort working in one of the many food-processing operations of that era. After World War II, Agnes and John returned to Mandan, to start a family, in particular to remain close to friends and relatives. Agnes also worked at the Holiday Inn and Jerry's Supper Club, starting in 1970 and retiring in 1993. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Patty, and John and Deb, all of Mandan; three grandchildren, Kimberly, Corvette and Carly; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Anna Thomas, Tacoma, Wash., Margaret Thill and Marie (Bill) Beckler, all of Mandan; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her spouse, John R. (who died on July 20, 1970) and four brothers, John, Leo, Robert and Albert. (Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan)

MCHENRY -- Samantha Rose Erman, 7, rural McHenry, died Dec. 31, 2000 of injuries sustained in an automobile accident east of Voltaire. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at St. John's Catholic Church, New Rockford. Further arrangements are pending with Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford.

Vernon Gentz
NEW ENGLAND -- Vernon Gentz, 76, New England, died Jan. 4, 2001 in a Dickinson nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MST Monday, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, New England. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, New England. He is survived Reggie, New England; two daughters, Toni Jung, New England, and Michelle Johannigman, Denver, Colo.; three sons, Guy Gentz, Sturgis, S.D., Jan Gentz, Los Angeles, Calif.; and Karl Gentz, Denver; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one brother, Jerry, Los Angeles. Allan Hellekson
NEW ENGLAND -- Allan Hellekson, 87, New England, died Jan. 4, 2001 in a Dickinson nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MST Monday, at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church, New England. Burial will be in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Mary, Dickinson; two daughters, Marjorie Bautz, New England, and Carol McAdoo, Overland Park, Kan.; and four grandchildren. James Kaczmarski
COOPERSTOWN -- James Kaczmarski, 78, Cooperstown, died Jan. 4, 2001 in a Fargo hospital. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Cooperstown, with burial in the spring in Pettibone Bethlehem Cemetery, Pettibone. He is survived by his wife, Irene; two sons, Wally, Lisbon, and Byron, Dayton, Wash.; a sister, Jean Crow, Prescott, Ariz.; and two grandchildren. (Quam-Plaisted Cushman Funeral Home, Cooperstown)

He is survived by his wife, Ragna; four children, Judy Travis, Tioga, Jean Berhow, Grand Prairie, Texas, Bette Kambeitz, Tioga, and Terence Ortloff, Ross, N.D.; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bernard, Lambert, Mont., William, Williston, and Donald, Epping; and one sister, Rita Margaret Raan, Troy, Mont.
