Yevgeniya Agadzhanyan
Yevgeniya Agadzhanyan, 72, Bismarck, died July 27, 2000 at her home. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Jake Kincaid officiating. Public visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Service. Yevgeniya Agadzhanyan was born Aug. 20, 1927 at Karabach, Azerbaijan. She married Gregory Agadzhanyan in Karabach on Sept. 3, 1950. They lived in Baku and Stavropol, Russia. In 1992, Gregory died in Stavropol. Yevgeniya immigrated to Bismarck, in January 1995. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Boris and Bella Agadzhanyan, Bismarck; three daughters and sons-in-law, Svetlana and Igor Markosov, Bismarck, Julietta and Robert Tumanyan, Moscow, Russia, and Liz and Karen Allakhverdyan, Redmond, Wash.; and six grandchildren.

David Berry
NEW SALEM -- David Berry, 83, New Salem, died July 26, 2000 in the Elm Crest Manor in New Salem. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Saturday at Peace Church in New Salem, with the Rev. LaRue Goetz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. MDT Friday at Elm Crest Manor, and after 4 p.m. MDT at the Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, New Salem. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church. David Elmore Berry was born on Sept. 27, 1916 in Pittsburgh, Penn., the son of Vernon and Olive (Beeman) Berry. Raised and educated there, he worked for the railroad before moving to New Salem in 1960. He was employed as a press operator at the New Salem Journal. He married Lorraine Reineke on April 18, 1961 in Canton, Ohio. They lived in Dickinson, Hazen and Beulah, as well as in Almont and New Salem. Lorraine died on March 4, 1991. David retired in 1976 and had been a resident of Elm Crest Manor since April of 1995, where he was a member of the residents' council. David found his greatest pleasure in the company of his grandchildren and was a loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. David is survived by his four daughters and three sons-in-law, Emma and Casey Thorson, New Castle, Wyo., Nadine Berry, Bismarck, Roxanne and Chad Crist, Dickinson, and Peggy and Allen Weiss, New Salem; and five grandchildren, Brandon Kilen, Kasey Crist, Hunter Crist and Jayden and Allie Weiss. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lorraine; and his brother, Charles. (Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan/New Salem)

Tim E. Blair
CARRINGTON -- Tim E. Blair, 43, Carrington, and formerly of Ada, Minn., died July 25, 2000 at his home of natural causes. Arrangements are pending with Evans Funeral Home, Carrington.

Donald Boyd
DICKINSON -- Donald Boyd, 57, Dickinson, died July 26, 2000 in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. MDT Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Dickinson. Further arrangements are pending with Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson.

Steve R. Bruestle
RIVERDALE -- Steve R. Bruestle, 39, Riverdale, drowned while sailing on Lake Sakakawea. His body was recovered on July 25, 2000. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Riverdale School Gymnasium, with the Revs. Tim Lingelbach and John Nilson officiating. Burial will be in Coleharbor Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Steve was born Sept. 16, 1960 at Hazen to Erwin "Percy" and Gloria (Boots) Bruestle. He grew up in Riverdale and graduated from Riverdale High School in 1978. He attended BSC at Bismarck and studied electronics and power plant technology. He married Beth Swanson on July 20, 1979 at Riverdale. He worked for Basin Electric at Stanton for a short time, and then worked at the Coal Creek Station at Underwood until January of 1997. He then started his own business, BO-TECH Electronics at Riverdale. He enjoyed hobbies of sailing and boating, motorcycle drag-racing and hunting. He is survived by his wife, Beth, Pick City; two sons, Timothy and Ryan, both of Pick City; one daughter, Erika Bruestle, Pick City; his father, Erwin "Percy" Bruestle, Riverdale; his mother, Gloria Horrigan, Sun City Center, Fla.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Wanda and Paul Schlichenmayer, Turtle Lake, and Pam and Mike Hennes, Grand Forks; and three nieces and three nephews. Ernest G. Cermak
Ernest G. Cermak, 83, 1302 N. Frontier Trail, Mandan, died July 26, 2000 in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan. Further arrangements are pending with Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan.

Irene Evanson
WATFORD CITY -- Irene Evanson, 74, Watford City, died July 25, 2000 in Watford City. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at First Lutheran Church, Watford City, with the Rev. Thomas Stenzel officiating. Burial will be in Schafer Cemetery, Watford City. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. today at Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City, and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Irene (Hellandsaas) Evanson was born Jan. 3, 1926 at the Sanford place, Banks, N.D., to Hannah (Wold) and Sigurd Hellandsaas. She was the first grandchild of M.A. and Ida Wold. When Irene was five years old, her father died and she moved to her maternal grandparents' farmhouse along with her mother and brothers. By the time Irene reached school age, the family had moved to Watford City where Irene completed her education. On Aug. 1, 1945, Irene Hellandsaas married Elmer Evanson, a recently freed WWII POW. They made their home in Watford City, where all their children were raised. Throughout her life, Irene worked at several Watford City businesses, the McKenzie County Hospital and the Good Shepherd Nursing Home. She was a fine seamstress and in her later years, loved to crochet. She enjoyed her family, TNN television, Sunday radio church services, collecting teddy bears, and being known as an "ornery" Norwegian. Visiting with people was her favorite pastime. In recent years, she enjoyed monthly lunches with her high school classmates. A highlight for Irene was her railroad trips "out west" to visit cousins in Idaho and Washington. Irene was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Al-Anon, and First Lutheran Church. Past memberships include Garden Homemakers for over 35 years, Sons of Norway, and Watford City Bowling League. She is survived by two sons, Elden "Buzz" and his wife, Janet, Burlington, and Edwin and his wife, Tammy, rural Watford City; three daughters, Adeane Panko, Lincoln, Susan Johnson and her husband, Steve, Bismarck, and Ilene Evanson, Minot; one brother, Orville Hellandsaas, rural Watford City; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one niece and two nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband, Elmer; one daughter, Iris Kaye; and one brother, Johnny Hellandsaas.

Altha Hastings
JAMESTOWN -- Altha Hastings, 83, Jamestown, died July 26, 2000 in a Jamestown hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, Jamestown, with burial in Cleveland Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Wilson; two sons, Herman Hastings, Bismarck, and Sayles Hastings, Reno, Nev.; one granddaughter and two great-grandchildren; two foster daughters, Anna Mae Huss, Carrington, and Marie Hallock, Bismarck; and five brothers, Bert, Walter, Thomas, Tennie and Morris Goodwyn, all of San Antonio, Texas. Mimi W. Hoger
NEW SALEM -- Mimi W. Hoger, 92, New Salem, died July 26, 2000 in the New Salem nursing home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Saturday, at Zion Lutheran Church, New Salem, with the Rev. Loren Strum officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will begin today at 1 p.m. MDT at Elm Crest Manor and continue after 3 p.m. MDT at the Buehler-Larson Funeral Home in New Salem. Mimi W. was born on July 8, 1908 in Isabella, Mich., the daughter of William H. and Anna (Lanng) Nyquist. As a child, she moved to the Almont area with her family. She graduated from Almont High School and attended Valley City Normal School. She taught rural New Salem schools for several years. She married Oscar E. Hoger on Aug. 27, 1928 in Mandan and they farmed northeast of New Salem for many years, moving to New Salem in 1975. Oscar died Dec. 1, 1979. She had been a 4-H leader for many years and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Judson Homemakers. Mimi had been a resident of Elm Crest Manor for the past two years. Mimi is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Audrey and Kenneth Henke, Hannover; her son and daughter-in-law, Glyn and Nancy, New Salem; her foster daughter, Dee Anspach, Lafayette, Colo.; four granddaughters and their husbands, Valorie and Charles Cartwright, Vicki and John Lambrecht, Kim and Charles Ledger and Sue and Ross Kleingartner; four grandsons and their wives, Ross Henke, Randy and Sue Henke, Rick and Mary Henke, and Scott and Anita Hoger and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers and two sisters. (Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan/New Salem)

Freda V. Holden
Freda V. Holden, 80, Bismarck, died July 24, 2000, in Sylvan House Assisted Living, Hayden, Idaho. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at First Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Tom Dunham officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Mausoleum. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Freda was born March 17, 1920, in Bismarck to George and Ellen (Eliason) Christianson. She was raised and educated in Bismarck. On Aug. 31, 1946, she and Paul C. Holden were married at Mandan. They lived on a ranch until they moved to Bismarck in 1955. Freda and, her husband, Paul, loved collecting antiques. She also collected porcelain dolls. She enjoyed playing cards and designing and making clothing and jewelry. She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Tom and Deborah Jensen, Hayden Lake, Idaho, Darell and Audrey Reile, Bismarck, and Marlyn and Paulette Neff, Mandan; one son and daughter-in-law, Leslie and Roberta Holden, Southern Pines, N.C.; five grandchildren, Ross Jensen, Hayden Lake, Jim and Holly (Reile) Tosseth, Regan, Melodie Neff, Mandan, Heather and, her husband, Martin Taylor, Fayetteville, N.C., and Leslie Ann Holden, Wilmington, N.C.; two great-grandsons, Tanner and Logan Tosseth, both of Regan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, who died Jan. 14, 1995; her parents; two brothers and five sisters. Mother will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Michael Jaugstetter
Michael Jaugstetter, 47, died at his home on July 24, 2000. Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck. Further arrangements are pending.

Fern Lila Lillibridge
WATFORD CITY -- Fern Lila Koeser Lillibridge, 81, rural Watford City, died July 26, 2000 in the Watford City hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Watford City Wesleyan Church. Further arrangements are pending with Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City.

Leland R. Miller
Leland R. Miller, 87, Bismarck, died peacefully on July 26, 2000 of cancer, in a Bismarck care center. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens with full military rites provided by VFW Post No. 1326. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Service. Leland was born on March 20, 1913 at Anamoose, the son of Philip H. and Olga (Borchardt) Miller. He was raised in Anamoose and later Washburn, where he met and married Mabel P. Erickson on May 8, 1933. Leland and his family later moved to Bismarck. He entered the U.S. Army in 1943 and served until his discharge in late 1945. In 1950, he graduated from the North Dakota State School of Science at Wahpeton. He served as the Deputy Dairy Commissioner of Agriculture for the state of North Dakota and eventually retired from state government in that capacity. He served many years as Safety Director for Montana-Dakota Utilities. Leland and Mabel were married for nearly 65 years. They are survived by their children, Deane and Arlene, Bismarck, Gary and Darla, Mandan, Gloria and Ralph Boehm, Temucula, Calif., and Jim and Marvie, Phoenix, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. It is greatly appreciated that gifts are given to the Leland R. Miller Memorial Fund.

Nadine Wegley
WILLISTON -- Nadine Wegley, 76, Williston, died July 25, 2000 in the Williston hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Faith United Methodist Church, Williston, with burial in Riverview Cemetery. She is survived by two sons, Terry, Williston, and Bruce, Bemidji, Minn.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; her father, Carl Melland; three brothers, Kenneth, Williston, Dorland, Arizona, and Gary, California; and two sisters, Betty Ann Zimmerman, Berthold, and Ruth Jacobson, Washington. Jeanette Werner
RICHARDTON -- Sister Jeanette Werner, OSB, 78, Sacred Heart Monastery, Richardton, died July 26, 2000 in a Bismarck care center just a few days after a 55th anniversary as a Benedictine Sister. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Saturday at the Sacred Heart Monastery Chapel, with the Rev. David Wolf, OSB officiating with Sister Paula Larson, Prioress presiding at the burial rite. Special music will be provided by the Sisters of the Monastery. Pallbearers will be the Sisters of the Monastery. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Monastery cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:30-1:30 p.m. CDT today at St. Vincent's Care Center, Bismarck. Visitation will continue from 3-9 p.m. MDT today at Sacred Heart Monastery with The Vigil Celebration to be held at 7 p.m. MDT. Visitation will continue at Sacred Heart Monastery on Saturday from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. MDT. Sister Jeanette, the oldest of 10 children, was born to Anna Mary (Vetter) and Andrew Werner on Jan. 26, 1922 in rural Emmons County near Linton, and baptized as Mary at St. Michael's Church on the same day. She entered Sacred Heart Convent, then located in Minot, on Sept. 28, 1943 and made her monastic profession on July 16, 1945. Her assignments through the years took her to St. Luke's Hospital in Crosby, St. Vincent's Care Center in Bismarck, Fort Berthold Reservation and parochial school in Hague, Fallon, Garrison and Malta, Mont. and to the monastery. A versatile person, her ministries included housekeeping, laundry, nurse aid, teacher aid, baking and the teaching of catechism. Her homemade bread and rolls were on demand wherever she went. Sister Jeanette had a lifelong desire for learning and always regretted that she did not have the opportunity to attend high school. So at the age of 60, she enrolled in an adult education program and proudly earned her High School Equivalency Diploma. She was an ardent conversationalist, lively storyteller, and a no-nonsense card player. Sister Jeanette loved her family and was proud to be a member of the legendary Vetter German-Russian clan numbering the hundreds. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, John and Andrew and an older sister, Frances, who died in infancy. She is survived by her sisters, Kenegunda (Peter G.) Miller, Katie Werner, and Ann Wangler, Bismarck, Caroline Kuntz, Jamestown, Julia (Lester) Iback, Linton; two brothers, Frank (Elizabeth), Onalaska, Wash.; and August (Phyllis), Wishek; and many nieces and nephews; and the Sisters of the Sacred Heart Monastery.
