MCLAUGHLIN, S.D. -- Michael Labrensz, 45, McLaughlin, died of cancer, July 27, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT today at Redeemer Lutheran Church, McLaughlin, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Diane; one son, Joshua, Bismarck; two stepdaughters, Denise Buechler, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Danielle Buechler, McLaughlin; one grandson; one brother, Jeffrey, Sheyenne, N.D.; and his parents, Harold and Ramona Labrensz, Mobridge. HARVEY -- Helen J. Schmidt, 89, Harvey, died July 29, 2000, in the Harvey nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey. Further arrangements are pending at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.

Ervin E. Unterseher
HAZEN -- Ervin E. Unterseher, 78, Hazen, died July 29, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Wednesday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hazen, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Erna; three sons, James, Plymouth, Minn., Harley, Beulah, and Wade, Hazen; two daughters, Nancy Determan, Savoonga, Alaska, and Nicki Miranowski, Kent, Minn.; nine grandchildren; one brother, Herb, Hazen; and two sisters, Alma Reinhardt and Elsie Bauer, both of Billings, Mont. Wilbur Bauer, 82, Bismarck, died July 2, 2000, in his home. Arrangements are pending at Bismarck Funeral Home.

Edna Jeanette Connelly
Edna Jeanette Foley-Connelly, 81, passed away in a Fargo hospital on June 29, 2000, with her daughters at her side. She was born to Axel and Thora Anderson at Mapes on Dec. 7, 1918. She graduated from Michigan High School in 1937, and later married Tony Foley in Michigan. They farmed near Mapes until 1953 when they moved to Lakota. Edna took great pride in her ability to cook and bake for friends and customers at a local cafe. She was a member of the Williams Homemakers Club and the Lakota American Legion Auxiliary. After Tony's death in 1972, she remained in Lakota until 1979 when she married Reginald Connelly. They resided in Devils Lake until moving to Bismarck in the fall of 1999. Alterra Care Center in Fargo had been her home since January 2000. She is survived by Reginald, Bismarck; two daughters and one son-in-law, Jacquelyn Hildebrandt, Portland, Ore., and Nancy and Harold Kjelgaard, Fargo; three grandchildren, Kristin Colligan, Portland, Ore., Eric Kjelgaard, Denver, and Chad Kjelgaard, Fargo; and two great-granddaughters. She is also survived by her step-children, Dianne and Lynn Miller, Dennis and Jeanne Connelly, Avis and David Vesley, Carol and Jack Booker, Linda and Terry Webber, Joan and Darrell Kartes, Joyce and Robin Hammer; and 18 step-grandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Mary Lou Anderson, Ervin and Lydia Anderson, Jerry and Rosie Anderson, all of Lakota, and Marlow and Jean Anderson, Thompson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony; her parents; three sisters; and two brothers. Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at St. Mary Catholic Church, Lakota, with burial in Lakota Cemetry. Visitation will be held at the church one hour before services.

Joseph Fried, 88, 1603 Ninth Ave. N.W., Mandan, died July 1, 2000, in the Mandan care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan. Further arrangements are pending at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan.

Leo John Krebsbach
BOWMAN -- Leo John Krebsbach, 82, Bowman, died July 2, 2000, in the Hettinger hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MDT Wednesdasy at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Garrison, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by one daughter, Luana Ley, Watkins, Minn.; one son, Rick, Bowman; one sister, Josephine Stumvoll, Garrison; two brothers, Elmer, Garrison, and Clarence, Minot; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. WISHEK -- Theresa Krueger, 89, Wishek, died July 1, 2000, in the Wishek nursing home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church, Fredonia, with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown. (Haut Funeral Home, Wishek)

Irene Mack
Irene Mack, 83, formerly of Bismarck, died June 30, 2000, in a Fargo nursing home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Church of Corpus Christi, Bismarck, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. today at Dakota Memorial Chapel, where a vigil service will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Irene Anderson was born July 17, 1916, on her grandmother's farm near Lidgerwood, the daughter of Edward and Anna (Prochaska) Anderson. She was raised and educated in Bismarck, graduating from St. Mary's High School in 1934. She married Herbert J. Mack of Dickinson on Dec. 26, 1944, in Bismarck. They then moved to Macon, Ga., where Herb was transferred. They also lived in Dothan, Ala., before returning to live in Bismarck. Irene was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. from 1947-1955. Irene was a charter member of the Church of Corpus Christi and was a long-standing member of their choir. She was also a member of Catholic Daughters. Irene enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, and she loved gardens, flowers and music. She is survived by one son, Kevin, Minneapolis; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Steve Kleeman, Arthur; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Vernal and Ruth Anderson, Pueblo, Colo., and Arnold and Mae Anderson, Austin, Texas; one sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and Norton Faust, Florence, Ore.; two very special granddaughters, Stephanie and Katie Kleeman; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert.

Hattie Oster
GLADSTONE -- Hattie Oster, 81, Gladstone, died July 2, 2000, in her home. Arrangements are pending at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson.

Genevieve Ann Richards
Genevieve Ann Richards, 74, 412 N. First St., died June 30, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital after a long and courageous battle with scleroderma. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, Bismarck, with the Rev. Thomas Kramer officiating. Burial will be at a later date. A rosary will be said at 5:30 p.m. today at the church. Genevieve was born Jan. 25, 1926, at LaMoure, to George Cunningham and Myrtle (Larson) Cunningham. She was raised near Grand Rapids, and graduated from high school at Marion. She obtained a bachelor's degree from the College of St. Benedict in Collegeville, Minn., and went on to earn a masters degree from Ball State University in Muncie, Ind. Gen enjoyed a career as an elementary school teacher for 36 years. Her first teaching experience was in Fort Yates on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation, and then she taught at private and public schools in Michigan and Indiana. After retiring in 1987, she moved back to North Dakota to be closer to her family and friends. She traveled extensively throughout Eastern and Western Europe, the former Soviet Union, Israel, the United States and Canada. She enjoyed reading the great books, discussing and debating politics, hosting dinner parties, working on crossword puzzles, decorating, gardening and visiting with friends and family. She also volunteered her time with the Ronald McDonald House and the Ruth Meier's Hospitality House. She was known and will be missed for her sense of humor, sense of style, and positive outlook on life. At her request her body has been donated to the University of North Dakota Medical School, Grand Forks, with cremation taking place at a later date. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ann and James Sommers, Chanhassen, Minn.; her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Karen Richards, Louisville, Colo.; three brothers and four sisters-in-law, Robert and Marilyn Cunningham, Doug and Elaine Cunningham, and Juleen Cunningham, all of Bismarck, and David and Kay Cunningham, Fargo; two grandchildren, Lauren and Brian Richards, Louisville, Colo.; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Genevieve was preceded in death by her spouse, Zeke Richards; her parents, George and Myrtle Cunningham; and one brother, Philip Cunningham. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Scleroderma Research Fund, Pueblo Medical Commons, 2320 Bath St.,, Suite 315, Santa Barbara, Calif. 93105, or God't Child Project, Box 1673, Bismarck, N.D. 58502.
