Lynelle K. McGregor
Funeral services for Lynelle K. McGregor, 52, Riverdale, N.D., were held on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at Riverdale School gymnasium, Riverdale, N.D. Reverend John Nilsen and Reverend Dan Mauer officiated. Mrs. McGregor died Sunday, July 11, 2004 from injuries sustained in an accident near Pick City, N.D.
Lynelle Kay Janz, daughter of Walter and Frances (Gillund) Janz was born on February 2, 1952 in Fargo. She spent her childhood years living on her parent’s farm near Enderlin. She graduated from Enderlin High School.
On April 11, 1970, she married Kim McGregor in Enderlin. The couple made their home in Valley City. They moved to Hancock, Minn. for a short time before making Riverdale their permanent home in 1974. She worked for ND Game & Fish Department. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Kim McGregor, Riverdale; one son Trevor (Sue) McGregor, Bigfork, Mont.; two daughters, Tasha (Tim) Twardowski, Long Prairie, Minn., Taryn (Krist) Kjelstrup, Underwood, N.D.; mother, Frances Janz, Enderlin; one sister Carolyn (Harvey) Grinager, Wahpeton; and two brothers Erling Janz, Enderlin, and Lyle (Claudia) Janz, Enderlin. She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Janz.
Interment at Coleharbor Cemetery
Goetz Funeral Homes, Underwood, was in charge of arrangements.

Marsha M. Fredrich
Funeral services for Marsha M. Fredrich, 57, New Prague, Minn., were held on Thursday, July 22, 2004 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, New Prague, Minn. Reverend Steve Trewartha officiated. Mrs. Fredrich died Sunday, July 18, 2004 at her home.
Marsha Mae Ulmer, daughter of Victor H. and Sylvia Lillian (Nelson) Ulmer was born on May 12, 1947 in Chicago, Ill. She attended school at Fullerton High School, Fullerton, N.D., Normandale Junior College and Mankato State University.
On August 12, 1967, she married Terrill D. Fredrich in Oakes. She was a buyer/planner at Conklin Company for 24 years. She was a member of the Twin City Purchasing Managers Association and was a volunteer at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and a member of Toastmaster’s Club.
She is survived by her husband Terrill Fredrich, New Prague; one daughter, Lynn Rae (Charles) Eaton, New Prague, Minn.; one son, Jay Allan (Melissa) Fredrich, Maple Grove, Minn.; four grandchildren; her parents Victor H. and Sylvia L. (Nelson) Ulmer, Oakes; five sisters, Sharon K. (Norman) Bakkegard, Pipestone, Minn., Harriet J. (Raymond) Meyer, Morristown, S.D., Janell (Bryan) Beggs, Williston; Correen (Dwight) Crabtree, Rogers, Minn. LaVae (Cameron) Carlson, Dallas, Texas; and four brothers, Terry (Diane) Ulmer, Hecla, S.D., Bruce (Sharon) Ulmer, Lisbon, Steve Ulmer, Oakes, and Brian Ulmer, Spearfish, S.D.
Urn bearer was Steven Ulmer.
Inurnment at Czech National Cemetery, New Prague, Minn.
Bruzek Funeral Home, New Prague, Minn., was in charge of arrangements.

Bernard S. Blasczyk
Funeral services for Bernard S. (Blackey) Blasczyk, 81, Minneapolis, Minn., were held on Friday, July 9, 2004 at St. John the Baptist Church, St. Paul, Minn. Mr. Blasczyk died Monday, July 5, 2004 in Detroit Lakes, Minn.
Bernard S. Blasczyk was born on July 4, 1923 in Minneapolis, Minn. He graduated from Edison High School and attended the University of Minnesota. He was a veteran of World War II and served as an officer in the U.S. Army Air Corp. Bernard trained as a fighter pilot and flew 25 missions in B-24s flying out of North Africa. Instead of returning to the U.S., he transferred to a P-38 squadron. He was shot down in Yugoslavia and was severely wounded. He was missing in action for almost a month and farmers kept him alive behind enemy lines. Bernard was taken to a Russian Field Hospital and cared for until transferred to U.S. forces. He was awarded the Purple Heart. After retiring from the Army Air Corp, in 1948, he became owner/operator of Blackey’s Bakery in Minneapolis, Minn.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Mae; five sons, William (Linda), Lisbon, John (Patty), Sauk Rapids, Minn., Daniel, Denver, Colo., David (Donna), Ketchikan, Ark.; one daughter, Judy, Aptos, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Interment at National Cemetery, Fort Snelling, Minn.

Harlan Nelson
Funeral services for Harlan Nelson, 79, Pickerel Lake, Minn., were held on Saturday, July 24, 2004 at St. James Catholic Church, Maine, Minn. Father Paul Folsom officiated. Mr. Nelson died Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at Lake Region Hospital.
Harlan Nelson, son of Henry and Mabel (Tennefos) Nelson was born on April 11, 1925 in Fergus Falls, Minn. He was baptized May 14, 1925 in the Lutheran faith at Gwinner. He grew up at Milnor and graduated from there in 1942. From 1942 to 1946 he served with the U.S. Navy during WWII as a 2nd Class Petty Officer in the Marshall Islands.
On November 23, 1949, he married Kathleen Dickerson at St. John’s Catholic Church, Wahpeton. He owned and operated a plumbing store in Milnor with his father and brother and later worked at Melroe Manufacturing in Gwinner for 20 years. He was a member of the VFW at Milnor.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; daughter, Patricia (Steve) Ellerbusch, Aberdeen, S.D.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Stewart and Michael and a brother, Merton Nelson.
Interment at St. James Catholic Cemetery, Maine, Minn.

Keith N. Nelson
Keith N. Nelson, 55, died of natural causes at his home in Engelwood, Colo., Tuesday, July 20, 2004. He was born August 16, 1948 in Lisbon, N.D. to Lois and Marvin Swanson, He came to live with Orvis and Norma Nelson in 1949.
Keith grew up in Moorhead and Fargo. He graduated from Moorhead High School in 1966, and attended NDSU and Wahpeton State School of Science.
In 1970 Keith entered the U.S. Army and served honorably in Vietnam. Upon discharge, he entered the oil business and operated his own mineral leasing company in western North Dakota during the late 1970s. He enjoyed piloting his own plane throughout the upper midwest. He later moved to Denver where he was employed for many years with US West as a computer specialist.
Keith is survived by his adopted mother, Norma Nelson Christianson; his biological mother, Lois Seelye; brothers, Marvin (Susan) Swanson, Lisbon, Marlow (Karen) Swanson, Mechanicsburg, Pa., David (Darcy) Swanson, Prineville, Ore., and Larry (Kay) Swanson, Gwinner; sisters, Cheryl (Wendell) Wolters, Lisbon and Marsha (John) Nefs, Grand Forks; also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends, Glen and Sandy Hyland family, Bismarck, Jim and Deb Christianson family, Bismarck and Mary and John Carman family, Newton, Kans.
He was preceeded in death by a sister, Karen Swanson, his fathers, Orvis Nelson and Marvin Swanson and his stepfather Marc Christianson.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lisbon, N.D. at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2004. Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Fargo.
Keith was a loving son, brother and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the Bismarck Law Enforcement Chaplaincy, 700 S. 9th St., Bismarck, ND 580504 or a charity of donor’s choice.

Arlene C.M. Babcock
Arlene C.M. Babcock, age 91, Glendive, Mont., died Thursday, September 30, 2004 at the Glendive Medical Center.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul Everett and Pastor Avis Anderson officiating. Interment at Dawson Memorial Cemetery in Glendive. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive was entrusted with arrangements.
Arlene was born on January 4, 1913 at Nome, N.D., the daughter of Genhard Johanne and Josephine Emelia (Nygaard) Thomason. She was educated in Lisbon, N.D., graduating with the class of 1931. Arlene then went on to Valley City State Teachers College in Valley City, N.D. in 1932, 1955 and graduated in 1960 with a degree in education. She taught city school in Rudyard, Mont., country school at Ransom County, N.D. and Washington Middle School in Glendive, Mont.
Arlene was married to Charles Babcock on September 1, 1936 in Lisbon, N.D.
Arlene was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Glendive and the Zion Lutheran Ladies Aid. She made banners and bulletin boards for her church for over 20 years. Arlene was a retired member of the National, Montana and Glendive Teacher’s Associations. She loved being around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed needle point, playing piano and organ, Norwegian cooking, cheering for her favorite football team the Minnesota Vikings and was a staunch member of the local Republican Party.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charlie; son-in-law, Harvey Haugen and brother, Gordon Thomason.
Arlene is survived by one daughter, Charlene Haugen, Glendive, Mont.; one son, Ken Babcock and his wife Carolyn, Fairview, Mont. and one sister-in-law, Florence Thomason, Fresno, Calif.; six grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.

Mayvis V. Linderman
Funeral services for Mayvis V. Linderman, 78, Fargo, N.D., were held on Saturday, October 9, 2004 at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo. Charles Wells officiated. Mrs. Linderman died Saturday, October 2, 2004 at Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo.
Mayvis Victoria Westerlund, daughter of Rose and Peter Westerlund was born on June 25, 1926 near Kathryn, N.D. They later moved into Nome where she graduated from High School. She then moved to Fargo and attended business college there. Upon graduation she worked as a secretary for a local law firm.
In November 1947, she married Allen Linderman. They farmed in the Barlow, N.D. area for the next 30 years. In 1983 Mayvis moved to Fargo after Allen’s death. She is survived by one daughter, Nancy (Scott) Kernan, Huntington Beach, Calif. and two step-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Interment at Carrington Cemetery, Carrington.
Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo, was in charge of arrangements.

John L. Strauss
Funeral services for John L. Strauss, 91, Harvey, N.D., were held on Friday, October 8, 2004 at the St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey. Mr. Strauss died Monday, October 4, 2004 at the North Dakota Veterans Home, Lisbon.
John L. Strauss, son of John F. and Mary (Jenny) Strauss was born on September 5, 1913 in Harvey, N.D. He attended the Whitby School near Harvey and graduated from the Harvey High School in 1932. After high school, John began working as a general laborer and went to work for Moser Plumbing and Heating. In 1940, he began working as a janitor at the St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey.
John enlisted in the U.S. Army in January 1941 and served with the 164th Infantry Division. He served three years in the Pacific and took part in the Guadalcanal and Northern Solomon's campaigns. He was wounded during a battle and as a result was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. John was honorably discharged June 29, 1945 and returned to Harvey.
He was a laborer in Harvey and Bowman for a number of years before resuming employment at the St. Aloisius Hospital. He spent the last of his five years of employment with the Civilian Maintenance Department for the Air Force in Fortuna, N.D. He retired and returned to Harvey. On October 1, 1999 John moved to the North Dakota Veterans Home, Lisbon.
John was a member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters since 1930 and was a past Chief Ranger. He joined the Knights of Columbus in 1946 and was a past Grand Knight and District Deputy. He joined the Veterans of Foreign Wars in 1945 and served as a Post Commander, District Commander and District Chaplain for many years. He was elected State Chaplain of the North Dakota Veterans of Foreign Wars in 1998. He served with the Harvey Color Guard. He was a member and past board member of the North Dakota Right to Life Association.
He is survived by one sister, Mary Bartholomay, Enderlin, formerly Sheldon, and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by brothers, Edwin, Arthur, Aloys, Frances, and Joe, and a sister, Gertrude Schmitz.
Interment at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan , N.D.
Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey and McClusky, was in charge of arrangements.
