Emma Amelia Daggett
GARRISON -- Emma Amelia Daggett, Garrison, was born May 9, 1916, and passed away June 25, 2000, at the age of 82. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Peace Lutheran Church, Garrison, with burial in Garrison Cemetery. Emma is survived by two daughters, Barbara Ann Nelson and June Elaine Davison; one granddaughter, Nicole Rene Davison; and two sons-in-law, Ron Nelson and Rick Davison. Emma is lovingly remembered by her family and friends. The family has requested donations be made to Emma Daggett Memorial Fund and sent to Garrison Memorial Hospital, P.O. Box 39. Virginia Farstad
MORRISTOWN, S.D. -- Virginia Farstad, 80, Morristown, died June 24, 2000, in the Lemmon nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MDT Thursdayat Christ Lutheran Church, Morristown, with burial in Watauga Cemetery. She is survived by three sons, David, Greenfield, Minn., Tim, Lemmon, and Kory, Huron; two daughters, Sharon Johnson, Flat Rock, N.C., and Kristi Utter, Mobridge; one sister, Phyllis Nigg, Washington; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Guri Friestad
RUGBY -- Guri Friestad, 86, Rugby, died June 24, 2000, in Rugby. Arrangements are pending at Nelson Funeral Home, Leeds.

Irene Heil
Irene Heil, 89, passed away June 21, 2000, in the Edina care center, Edina, Minn. Irene was born April 18, 1911, in Heil, to August Bauer and Karolina Guthmiller. She was preceded in death by one step-daughter, Jackie; her parents; three brothers; and five sisters. She is survived by three sons, Stanley, Mandan, Donald, Minneapolis, and David, Seattle; one daughter, Marcella, Minneapolis; one brother, Raymond Bauer, Elgin; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Services were held June 24 at Werness Brothers Funeral Home, Edina, with burial in Lakewood Cemetery. The family prefers memorials to the Alzheimer's Association.

Laura Heimann
Laura Heimann, 93, Mico, Texas, formerly of Bismarck, died June 24, 2000. She is survived by six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Diane Liuska
WING -- Diane Liuska, 54, Wing, died June 26, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Wing. Further arrangements are pending at Eastgate Funeral Service.

Joseph Mosset
HAZELTON -- Joseph Mosset, 67, Hazelton, died June 26, 2000, in his home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Hazelton, with the Rev. Bruce Krebs officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. today at Myers Funeral Home, Linton, and will continue at the church one hour before services. A prayer service will be said 7:30 tonight at the funeral home. Joe was born Jan. 14, 1933, on a farm west of Linton, the son of Morris and Eva (Gisinger) Mosset. He attended rural school. He worked at Central Lumber Yard in Hazelton for one year before transfering to the Central Lumber Yard in Bismarck, where he worked for four years. On May 19, 1952, he married Laura Forderer at Bismarck. They lived in Hazelton, where he managed the Hazelton Lumber Yard for 10 years. In 1965, they moved to a farm southwest of Hazelton, where he was currently residing. Joe was a former member and chief of the Hazelton Fire Department. He loved farming and his pets. Grateful to have shared his life are his wife, Laura; his mother, Eva Mosset, Linton; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Irene Jahner, Linton, and Evelyn and Kenneth Jahner, Hazelton. He was preceded in death by his father; and an infant brother.

Bertha Schlaht
Bertha Schlaht, 87, Bismarck, formerly of Mercer, died June 25, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Mercer, with the Rev. Robert Lynne officiating. Burial will be in Mercer Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon-8 p.m. Wednesday at Goetz Funeral Home, Turtle Lake, and will continue at the church one hour before services. Bertha Marzolf was born Sept. 29, 1912, at rural Mercer, to Fred and Kathryn (Klotzbuecher) Marzolf. She grew up on her parents' farm seven miles south of Mercer and graduated from Mercer High School in 1931. She attended Minot State Teachers College and received her teaching degree. She taught rural school in McLean County for a number of years. She married Emil Schlaht on Nov. 28, 1931, at Washburn. They made their home in Mercer and she taught elementary school at Napoleon, Wishek, Mercer, and at Turtle Lake, retiring after 38 years of teaching. They continued to make their home in Mercer but spent the winter months in Bismarck. Emil died on July 7, 1993, and for the past 6 years Bertha has made her home in Bismarck. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Leo and Barbara Schlaht, Spanaway, Wash.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Ann Nadauld, Martha Chastain and Louise Schulz, all of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Edna Mrogan, Reno, Nev.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, James; and one brother, Reinhold Marzolf.

Karen Sellie
FARGO -- Karen Oline Sellie, 44, Fargo, died June 24, 2000, in a Fargo hospital. Karen fought a valiant two-year battle with lymphoma cancer. Karen and her family are deeply appreciative of the quality of care she received from the medical professionals at Roger Maris Cancer Center and MeritCare Hospital. She and her family are also deeply grateful to the pastoral support of Hope Lutheran Church, her home church in Fessenden, and all of the congregations and individuals, who have kept her in their prayers. Her love of life and fight for life have been an inspiration to all of her family and friends. Karen was born Feb. 11, 1956, in Harvey, to John and Carol (Wammer) Sellie. She grew up and attended school in Fessenden, where she graduated in 1974. Karen was very involved as a participant and a leader in music, 4-H, FHA and Luther League. Karen attended Concordia College, Moorhead, Minn., and graduated in 1978. She earned a bachelor of science degree in home economics and was an active statewide leader in the Home Economics Honor Society. While at Concordia, Karen was also active in dorm government and music. She played 1st chair flute in Concordia's Repertory Band. In 1991, Karen earned a master of arts degree in communications from North Dakota State University in Fargo. On June 9, 1979, Karen married Michael Keller at First Lutheran Church in Fessenden. Karen and Michael had one daughter, Kristine Anne. Michael died in January 1984. Subsequently, Karen was united in marriage to C.T. Hanson on May 24, 1986, at Hope Lutheran Church, Fargo. Karen and C.T. had one daughter, Kari Victoria, and a son, John Kristian. Karen had a special love of children, music, cooking and reading. She taught for two years in Stephen, Minn. She served as a board member of Dakota Montessori School in Fargo. She helped originate and served as an officer in Hope Lutheran Church's Women's Book Study and KAMs, a program for moms with little children. Karen worked as a food management supervisor at the Earle Brown Center, University of Minnesota; and later served as the residence director of Park Region Hall, Concordia College, Moorhead. In 1986, Karen chose to become a "stay-at-home mom" and spent her time nurturing and caring for Kristine, Kari and John. She loved outings with her children and with the other children and their moms, who were her close-knit circle of friends. Karen loved spending time with her friends and they shared many laughs and stories along the way about their kids and husbands. Karen also loved company and was especially excited when she knew that her mom, dad, and brother, Pete, were on their way to Fargo. Karen is survived by C.T.; Kristine, Kari and John, all of Fargo. She is also survived by her parents, Carol and John Sellie, Cathay; and one brother, Peter Sellie, Dickinson. Karen was preceded in death by her twin sister, Kristine Ann Sellie. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hope Lutheran Church, North Campus, Fargo, with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Fargo. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, where a prayer service will begin at 7 tonight.

Grant Shaw
MAKOTI -- Grant Shaw, 90, Makoti, died June 26, 2000, in a Minot hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursdayat Hope Lutheran Church, Makoti. Further arrangements are pending at Johnson Funeral Home, Parshall.

John H. Wetzstein
RICHARDTON -- John H. Wetzstein, 85, Richardton, died June 25, 2000, in Richardton. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Richardton, with burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Glen Ullin. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the church, where a wake service will begin at 8 p.m. Wednesday. John was born Aug. 29, 1914 in the St. Joe area of rural Glen Ullin, to Michael M. and Gertrude A. (Gerving) Wetzstein. He was raised and educated in the St. Joe area south of Glen Ullin. In 1935 he took over the family farmstead of his father and grandfather. He purchased it in 1938. John lived in a sod and frame house built by his grandfather and added to by his father. In 1973 he erected a new home on the farm. He farmed and raised Polled Herefords. His cattle were his pride and joy, commanding top prices as they had a good reputation throughout North Dakota and surrounding area. Due to declining health John moved to Richardton in 1994 where he has resided since. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three infant brothers; two brothers, Bernard and Michael; and seven sisters, Margaret Kobilansky, Helen Fischer, Gertrude Koller, Sister M. Clarona, OSB, Sister M. Veronica, OSB, Mary Quintus and Clara Wetzstein.

Wallace Bergquist
Wallace Bergquist, 71, died June 26, 2000 in a local hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, at McCabe United Methodist Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Art Scanson officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Washburn. Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Wallace Bergquist was born March 6, 1929 the son of Frank and Emma (Kundert) Bergquist on the family farm near Underwood. He grew up on the farm and attended Underwood Schools graduating in 1947. He attended Jamestown College. Wally served in the United States Navy and was stationed in Japan. Following his naval service, he was an Agent for State Farm Insurance and a partner in the Bergquist Walker Insurance & Real Estate Agency. Wally was married to Janice Dietrich and to this union one son, Kyle was born. He was currently a resident of Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. Wally loved sports and religious studies. He was a member of the Elks, American Legion and the VFW. Wally is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Laura, Bismarck; two grandchildren, Austin and Paige; one sister, Alvera Bergquist, Scottsdale, Ariz. and Bismarck; and one brother, Grant Bergquist, Bismarck. He was preceded in death by his parents. (Eastgate Funeral Service)

Bradley Brokaw
ELLENDALE -- Bradley Brokaw, 23, Ellendale, died June 24, 2000 of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Helena's Catholic Church, Ellendale. Further arrangements are pending with Carlsen Funeral Home, Ellendale.

Betty J. Camp
BELFIELD -- Betty J. Camp, 72, Belfield, died June 26, 2000 in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 3 p.m. MDT Friday at Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson. Further arrangements are pending.

Ronald Egly
DICKINSON -- Ronald "Ron" Egly, 68, Dickinson, died June 27, 2000 in a Dickinson care center. Arrangements are pending with Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson.

Martha Fiergola
BEULAH -- Martha Fiergola, 90, Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, and formerly of Beulah, died June 27, 2000 in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Friday, at Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah, with the Rev. Kris Nyman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation hours will be held on Thursday from 2-8 p.m. MDT at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah. Martha was born near Mannhaven, on Feb. 19, 1910, a daughter of Wilhelm and Emilie (Kampf) Ellwein. She was raised and educated 18 miles northeast of Hazen. She was married to George Stelzmiller. Martha moved to Beulah and on June 8, 1942, she married Jack Fiergola. They lived in Beulah. Jack died in July 1982. In January 1998, Martha moved to the Terrace in Bismarck. In November 1999, she became a resident of Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck, where she resided until the time of her death. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah and the Beulah Municipal Golf Course. Memorials are preferred to the charity of the donor's choice. She is survived by six children, Jacqueline Miller, Wisconsin, Gregg Fiergola, Minneapolis, Kenneth and Barbara Stelzmiller, Williston, Marian and Robert Spears, Kerrville, Texas, George and Marti Stelzmiller, Bismarck, and Nicky and Norlyn Schulz, Bismarck; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, William and Edna Ellwein, Bismarck, and Reuben and Ruth Ellwein, Hazen; and numerous nieces and nephews. Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack; four sisters and three brothers. (Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah)

Mark Gerhardt
Mark Gerhardt, 33, Kissimmee, Fla., and formerly of Mandan, died June 26, 2000 in a local hospital of natural causes. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, Bismarck, with the Rev. David Richter celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. today at Boelter Funeral Home, where a rosary service will be said at 7 p.m. tonight. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church. Mark was born July 31, 1966 in Bismarck, the son of George and Linda (Lockner) Gerhardt. He was raised and educated in Mandan, graduating from Mandan High School. Mark moved to Florida to work for Tschida Apiaries. While in Florida he attended college from 1990-1994. Mark also worked at Disney World as an audio-visual technician. He enjoyed the time he spent on his grandpa and grandma's farm and especially liked his job at Disney. Mark is survived by his parents, George and Linda, Bismarck; two brothers, George J., Hastings, Neb., and Scott, Mandan; his grandparents, Joe and Eva Lockner, Fort Rice, and several aunts and uncles; many cousins and a special friend, Joyce LaChapelle, Bismarck. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Helen Gerhardt. (Boelter Funeral Home, Bismarck)

ASHLEY -- Elizabeth "Lizzie" Heupel, 82, Ashley, died June 25, 2000 in the Ashley nursing home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, at Ashley Baptist Church. Burial will be in Ashley City Cemetery. She is survived by five sons, Leonard and Walter, both of Ashley, Raymond, Cavalier, Clarence, Jamestown, and Edwin, Fargo; five daughters, Violet Casey, Cando, Esther Buck, Bismarck, Emma Spitzer, Valley City, Virginia Heupel, Fargo, and Judy Sadek, Rio Linda, Calif.; three sisters, Pauline Schmidt, Herreid, S.D., Christine Marzoff, Lodi, Calif., and Caroline Jarvi, Aberdeen, S.D.; 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
