She is survived by six brothers and four sisters, William Siegel, Laurel, Mont., Marianne Olney and Walter Siegel, both of Mandan, Jack Siegel, Myrtle Point, Ore., Kenneth Siegel, Mandan, Jan Rudas, Albuquerque, N.M., Robert Siegel, Bismarck, Donna Vogel, Helena, Mont., Rita Lucas, Auburn, Wash., George Siegel, Plains, Mont.; two daughters, Carole Madsen, Enumclaw, Wash., and Wanda Mull, Anaconda, Mont.; and two grandsons.

Irene L. Waller
MARMARTH -- Irene L. Waller, 81, Marmarth, died June 26, 2000 at her home. Services will be held at 9 a.m. MDT Friday, at Assembly of God Church, Bowman, with burial in Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, S.D. at 2 p.m. Friday. She is survived by her husband, Arthur, Marmarth; one daughter, Catherine Risley, Post Falls, Idaho; one son, Donald, Spokane, Wash.; two sisters, Dorothy Getz, Glendive, Mont., and Janette Sipma, Missoula, Mont.; one brother, Richard Steiber, Billings, Mont.; and four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Russell is survived by his wife, Doris, Jamestown; five children, Marie Volk, Yakima, Wash.; Ronalda Evenson, Aberdeen, S.D., Steven Clark, Arlington, Wash.; Mark Clark, Bismarck, Jill Clark, Jamestown; 15 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Johnson, Erskine, Minn., and Edith Durheim, Hayward, Calif. HARLOW -- Guri Friestad, 86, Rugby, died June 24, 2000, in the Rugby hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Leeds Lutheran Church, with burial in Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery, Harlow. She is survived by her husband, Harold; four daughters, Lois Jemtrud, Larimore, Arlene Cable, Esmond, Clarice Matthews, Brinsmade, and Ellen Huffman, Minnewaukan; three sons, Harlan, Plano, Texas, Mark, Brinsmade, and David, Rugby; 29 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Gunvor Morkert, Leeds, Birgit Groff, Lakewood, Colo., and Karen Rogers, Hanover Park, Ill.; and two brothers, Torjus Groff, Lakewood, Colo., and Tormod Groff, Mesa, Ariz. WILLISTON -- Gordon Hasselstrom, 81, Sidney, Mont., died June 28, 2000, in a Sidney care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Fulkerson Funeral Home, Williston, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, Williston. He is survived by three sons, Gregg, Crosby, Carter, Sidney, and Blair, Mandan; two daughters, Cynthia Mogard, Norwich, and Rosanette Young, Kevin, Mont.; one sister, Ruba Paulson, Lewistown, Mont.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

George is survived by his wife, Ida Kleven, Medina; three children, Judy Hoffer, Bismarck, Linda Oberlander, Cleveland, and Wayne Kleven, Medina; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Clarence, Medina, Irvin, Medina, and Rudolph, Greeley, Colo.; and a sister, Scotty Kinney, Seattle, WA. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Temple Baptist Church, Jamestown, with burial in Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown. She is survived by her four children, LeeRoy, Denver, Colo.; VerDella Nitschke, Jamestown, Clifford Hust, Jamestown, and Marlys Hust, Jamestown; three half-brothers, Alvin Remmick, Battleground, Wash., Edwin Remmick, Gackle, and Art Remmick, Edgeley; three half-sisters, Esther Graf, Streeter, Lorina Kuschel, Beulah, and Darleen Olson, Bella Vista, Ark.; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three step-children. Rosella Mae McCormick, 66, Mandan, died June 29, 2000, in the Mandan care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan. Further arrangements are pending at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan.

Brendan Murphy
RICHARDTON -- Brother Brendan (Patrick) Murphy, 74, died June 29, 2000, at Assumption Abbey, Richardton, after a long battle with emphysema. Patrick Murphy was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Jan. 18, 1926. He was the only child born to Patrick and Anna Maria (Gardenia) Murphy. He received his elementary education in Brooklyn and high school in Los Angeles, Calif. At a young age he joined the U.S. Navy and is a World War II veteran having served in both the South Pacific and Europe during the war. After being discharged from the Navy he was self-employed. He had his own restaurant business most of his civilian life. He lived and worked many years in southern California as well as in Louisiana. He was an avid reader and loved to solve crossword puzzles. Patrick was married twice. His first wife, whom he married in England in1946, died five years later of cancer. He married again and this wife also died of cancer in 1986. That death was very difficult for Patrick and it was at this time that he came to Assumption Abbey one day in August 1986. He found peace here and asked to stay. He made his final oblation as a monk on Sept. 14, 1987, and received the name Brendan. He was a loyal and active monk for the past 14 years, managing the Visitors Center of the abbey and taking care of the abbey mail. He has no living relatives other than his confreres at Assumption Abbey. Memorials preferred for the church renewal project at Assumption Abbey. A vigil service will be held at 7 tonight, and a concelebrated mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. MDT Saturday at the Abbey church. Burial will be in the Abbey Cemetery.

Elsie Specht
KILLDEER -- Elsie Specht, 80, Killdeer, died June 28, 2000, in the Killdeer care center. Arrangements are pending at Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson.

Bette I. Stoddard
FLASHER -- Bette I. Stoddard, 71, Flasher, died June 28, 2000, in a Scottsbluff, Neb. hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Wednesday at American Lutheran Church, Flasher, with the Rev. Dale Nabben officiating. There will be a private service for the family only to scatter her ashes on the Banning family ranch. Bette was born March 30, 1929, on the Banning family ranch, the daughter of Raymond M. and Mabel (Rockstad) Banning. She married Robert E. Stoddard in 1948 and had one child, Gary. She moved to California where she married Otto Sinclair and her children, Scott, Jill, Tracy and Toby were born there. In 1969 she moved back to Flasher and remarried Robert Stoddard, and they lived on their farm outside of Flasher. During her life, Bette enjoyed many different occupations and in particular she loved to go to auction sales and collect antiques. Bette really loved her animals and she raised Boston Terriers for a number of years. Bette was a very unique person who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Bette is survived by her five children, Gary Stoddard, Gering, Neb., Scott Sinclair and his wife, Wendy, Phoenix, Jill (Sinclair) Gaskins and her husband, Art, Castro Valley, Calif., Tracy Sinclair, Pomona, Calif., and Toby Thompson, Gering; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Stoddard and Otto Sinclair; her brother, Raymond, Jr.; and her parents, Raymond M. and Mabel Banning. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Cancer Society.

HARVEY -- Doris Wartner, 85, Scottsdale, Ariz., formerly of Harvey, died Sept. 12, 1999, in Scottsdale. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at United Methodist Church, Harvey. Further arrangements are pending at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey)

BOWMAN -- Cleon G. Willette, 75, Bowman, died June 29, 2000, in the Bowman hospital. Services will be held at 9 a.m. MDT Monday at St. Charles Catholic Church, Bowman, with burial at 2 p.m. Monday in Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, S.D. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; three stepsons, Tom Bennett, Mobridge, S.D., Jim Bennett, Bozeman, Mont., and Russ Bennett, Wilmar, Minn.; and several grandchildren. Dwight Lloyd Baron, 55, Wheatland, Wyo., died June 2, 2000 at his home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at First Christian Church, Wheatland, Wyo. Further arrangements are pending with Platte Funeral Chapel, Wheatland, Wyo.
