DICKINSON -- Joe V. Semerad, 84, Dickinson, died Nov. 9, 2000 in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Monday, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson. He is survived by his wife, Mary; four sons, Donald, Bismarck, Dwayne, Rapid City, S.D., Daryl, Dickinson, and dave, Rapid City; three daughters, Donna Jablonsky, Dickinson, Darlys Theobald, Cameron, Ill., and Deb Kerner, DIckinson; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Lillian Strom
DICKINSON -- Lillian Strom, 85, Dickinson, formerly of Taylor, died Nov. 9, 2000 in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MST Tuesday, at Taylor Lutheran Church. Further arrangements are pending with Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson.

Otilda Weisser
Otilda (Weber) Weisser, 94, Eureka, S.D., died Nov. 9, 2000 in a Eureka care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at Carlsen Funeral Home, Ashley, with burial in Ashley City Cemetery. She is survived by one son, Paul, Pasco, Wash.; two daughters, Pauline Hauck and Ottilia "Trudy" Humann, both of Edmonds, Wash.; one brother, Ted Haas, Lodi, Calif.; and seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Clifton Weltz
HARVEY -- Clifton Weltz, 69, Harvey, died Nov. 8, 2000 at his home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by a son, Gary, Martin, N.D.; three daughters, Karen Schander, Fessenden, Doris Doubek, Minot, and Pam Schmidt, Martin; three sisters, Agnes Schmidt, Anamoose, Wyonne Riskevich, Baldwin, and Donna Hauser, Sawyer. Viola Wilhelm
Viola Wilhelm, 84, Minneapolis, Minn., formerly of New England, died Nov. 10, 2000, in Minneapolis from complications of Alzheimer's Disease. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. MST Tuesday, at Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson, with the Rev. Peggy Harris, officiating. Interment will be in the New England Cemetery, New England. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. MST Tuesday at Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson. Viola was born icon March 28, 1916, to Hortie and Ida Beisser. On May 10, 1937, she married icon George Wilhelm. They farmed northeast of New England for many years. In later years they spent many delightful winters in Arizona. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1987. George died on September 16, 1991. Viola was a talented, self-taught artist who also loved gardening, flowers, creative crafts, camping and fishing She is survived by: one daughter, Eileen Kuehn, Minneapolis, Minn; two sons, Donald Wilhelm, New England, and Russell Wilhelm, Phoenix, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Debbie and Colin Kuehn, both of Minneapolis, Terry (Lawanna) Wilhelm, New England, and Tammy (Dave) Mackey, Dickinson; five great-grandchildren, Shelby and Cory Wilhelm, New England, Josh, Courtney and Ryan Mackey, Dickinson. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; parents, Hortie and Ida Beisser; one brother, Leslie and daughter-in-law, Marlene Wilhelm. Memorials are preferred. Janet Auer
GLEN ULLIN -- Janet Auer, 44, Glen Ullin, died Nov. 11, 2000 in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Tuesday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glen Ullin, with the Rev. Sebastian Schmidt officiating. Visitation will be held after 4 p.m. MST today at the church and is ongoing until the service time. A wake service will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 7 p.m. MST tonight. Janet was born icon July 29, 1956 in Bismarck, the daughter of Albert and Charleen (Reeff) Duppong. She was raised and educated at Glen Ullin graduating in 1974. She attended Dickinson State University and graduated in 1977 as a registered nurse. She practiced nursing at St. Vincent's Nursing Home, St. Alexius Hospital, and at Marian Manor in Glen Ullin. Janet had high personal goals for herself, she was a self taught guitar player and was the founder of the Glory and Praise Singers. She married icon Rodney Auer on April 11, 1980 in Glen Ullin. She completed a Masters Degree program and became a Family Nurse Practitioner first at the Glen Ullin Clinic and then Center. Janet became an instructor at Medcenter One School of Nursing, and later an Associate instructor at the University of Mary in the Nurse Practitioner program. Janet was involved in many aspect of education, from the local school board, to the North Dakota State School Board Association, to being the first woman to be elected to the North Dakota High School Activities Assocation Board. In July she became the chairperson for the Division of Nursing at the University of Mary, and approximately two weeks ago she received her Doctorate in Higher Education. Janet was involved in several community organizations, from being a 4-H leader and cheerleading advisor, and Sunday school teacher in the past, to the present of being of a Christian Mother and using her musical talent for many wedding and funerals. Janet balanced a lifetime of achievement along with being a wife, a mother to her four children. Her personality and spirit along with her career in healthcare and education have touched and inspired a great number of lives. She is survived by her husband, Rodney; three daughters, Janessa, Bismarck, Jillissa, Jenalee and one son, Jarrod, all at home; her parents, Albert and Charleen Dupong, Glen Ullin; two brothers, Timothy Duppong, Bismarck, and Terrence Duppong, Glen Ullin; two sisters, Joy Benson, Bismarck, and Jane Boeshans, Beulah; and her grandmother, Lucille Reeff, Bismarck. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Anton and Anna Duppong, and Edmund Reeff. (Spangelo Funeral Home, Glen Ullin)

Margaret Baumgartner
Margaret Baumgartner, 91, Bismarck, died Nov. 11, 2000 in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Church of the Ascension, with the Rev. Marvin Klemmer, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. A vigil service begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan. Visitation begins from 1-9 p.m. Tuesday at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan, and one hour prior to services at the church. Margaret was born icon July 25, 1909 at Hillsview, S.D., to Peter and Katherine (Hilzendeger) Imberi. She was raised and educated in Hillsview. Margaret married icon John F. Baumgartner on Dec. 12, 1927 at Hillsview. Together they owned and operated a diversified farm near Hague. They raised cattle, grain and were very proud of their Grade A dairy. In 1964, they retired and moved to Bismarck. She was self-employed for several years operating a cleaning service. She was a RSVP volunteer for more than 30 years and an active volunteer at the Senior Center ceramics, until Dec. 1997 at the age of 89. Margaret received the Katherine Werner award in 1993 for outstanding commitment and dedication for her service to the Bismarck Senior Center. She was also an active member of St. Mary's Altar Society at Hague for 37 years and St. Mary's Altar Society, Bismarck until present. Margaret was a very artistic, creative and a superb designer of crafts and sewing. She redesigned and fashioned many wood suits, silk dresses and little fur coats for her children during their toddler years through high school years.. She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Mildred and Francis Schall, Bismarck, Delores Hennessy, New York, N.Y., Lenora and Wayne Muehler, Bismarck; three sons and daughters-in-law, Victor and Lois, Braddock, Daniel and Alvina, Aberdeen, S.D., and Pete and Dee, Bismarck; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Caroline Malson, Aberdeen, Tillie and Francis Heilman, Bowdle, S.D., Ann Hartze, Aberdeen, Joseph Baumgartner Sr., Bismarck; four sisters-in-law, Agnes Imberi and Irene Imberi, both of Aberdeen, S.D., Christina Schumacher, Linton, Anna Silbernagel, Mount Vernon, Texas; 21 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and 11 step-great-grandchildren; her many friends and care providers at The Terrace. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, John, who died on December of 1985; six brothers and three sisters. (Perry Funeral Home, Mandan)

Thomas M. Davidson
Thomas M. "Tom" Davidson, Sr., 79, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the American State Bank and Trust Company, died Nov. 11, 2000 at his home in Williston. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at First Lutheran Church, Williston, with the Revs. Dean Larson and Joel Westby officiating, with burial in Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. today and 9 a.m.-noon Tuesday, both at Everson Funeral Home, Williston, and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Thomas McClellan Davidson was born icon Oct. 17, 1921 in Williston to W.S. Sr. and Olive (Evans)Davidson. He was to spend his entire life in Williston, graduating from Williston High School in the Class of 1939 before attending the University of Montana and the University of North Dakota. He was united in marriage to Shirley Strand in Las Vegas, Nev. on June 2, 1961. They established their home in Williston and have lived here through these many succeeding years. Tom loved ranching. From 1929 to 1965, the Davidson ranch was operated under the name "Long S Cattle Company," located on the Ft. Berthold Indian Reservation. He took over the operation for his father in the late 1950's. In 1965, the Cattle Company was moved after purchasing a ranch near Big Horn, Mont., which Tom operated through the date of his passing. Tom also assumed the Presidency of the American State Bank & Trust Company in 1969. From that point forward, Tom was the heart and soul of the family bank that his father first became associated with in 1906. Tom began working at the family bank in his teenage years. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, and Moose Lodges. He was also a Board member of the UND Alumni Association, a Director of the North Dakota Stockmen's Association and was active in the American National Cattleman's Association. Tom was dedicated to his community and went to extraordinary lengths to support it and also was widely known in the ranching circles of eastern Montana. Tom's proudest moments were his marriage to Shirley, the birth of his two children and later the birth of his four grandchildren. His family was always first and foremost in his life. Tom is survived by his wife, Shirley; one daughter and son-in-law, Tamara and Patrick Sogard, and their children, Oliver, Barrett, Isabella and Thomas; one son, Thomas Davidson Jr., Minneapolis; and one brother, John R. Davidson, Billings, Mont. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, W.S. Davidson Jr. For those interested, the family suggests memorials to the T.M. Davidson Scholarship Fund or the Mercy Medical Center's Cancer Treatment Center. (Everson Funeral Home, Williston)

Ethel M. Hewitt
CARRINGTON -- Ethel M. Hewitt, 84, Carrington, died Nov. 11, 2000 in a Carrington care center. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, at Federated Church, Carrington, with burial in Sykeston Cemetery. She is survived by three sons, James and Jeffrey, both of Carrington, and Jerome, Christine, N.D.; three daughters, Janice Davis, Edmond, Okla., Judith Johnson, Carrington, and Joelle George, Minot; 22 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Legacie, Edmore, and Ernest Legacie, Shelton, Wash.; and two sisters, Rachel Roberts, Lakota, and Laura Strand, Devils Lake. WHITE SHIELD -- Frederick J. Huber, 89, White Shield, died Nov. 10, 2000 at his home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, White Shield. A rosary and vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison. Further arrangements are pending.
