Roy S. Johanneson
Funeral services for Roy S. Johanneson, 84, Lisbon, formerly Enderlin, were held on Friday, January 28, 2005 at First Lutheran Church, Enderlin. Reverend Leon Zavadil officiated. Mr. Johanneson died Friday, January 21, 2005 at Lisbon Area Health Services, Lisbon.
Roy S. Johanneson, son of John and Anna (Hawkinson) Johanneson was born on January 29, 1920 in Kathryn, ND. He attended school in Enderlin. Roy served in the CCC for six months during 1940. He served in the US Army from 1942-1945.
In 1945, he married Mary Moore. They later divorced. On October 6, 1969 he married Doris Martinson Olson in Webster, SD. Roy worked for the Soo Line Railroad in Enderlin. He retired in 1982. Roy was a member of the Enderlin VFW.
He is survived by his wife, Doris, Enderlin; three daughters, Glory Bleese, Fargo, Joyce Rhodes, Fargo, Sally Sinard, Huntsville, AL; one son, LeRoy Johanneson, Fargo; three step-sons, Gary Olson, Bismarck, Orvin Olson, Sheldon, Robert Olson, Enderlin; one step-daughter, Gwen (Bill) Dunbar, Valrico, FL; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard (Ruby), Enderlin; and one sister, Mae Bergland, Enderlin. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Alf, Hollis, Clifford and a sister, Ardella Hutchinson.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Ronald Lebus, John Oehlke, Robert Ludtke, Vernon Anderson, Allen Hanson and Stuart George.
Music was provided by organist Shirley Hanson.
Interment at Enderlin Cemetery, Enderlin.
Armstrong Funeral Home, Enderlin, was in charge of arrangements.

Olga C. Aalgaard
Funeral services for Olga C. Aalgaard, 89, Halstad, MN, were held on Saturday, January 29, 2005 at Augustana Lutheran Church, near Halstad. Mrs. Aalgaard died Saturday, January 22, 2005 in Halstad Living Center.
Olga Christine Gilbertson was born on May 30, 1915 in Hawley, MN. She grew up and graduated from high school in Halstad. She then attended New York Hairdressing Academy, Fargo. She owned Milady’s Beauty Shop, Halstad.
On October 8, 1936, she married Eldor Aalgaard. They lived in Halstad. They later moved to Moorhead. He died in 1984. In 1998, she entered the care center.
She is survived by a son; Bruce (Susan), Bemidji, MN; two daughters, Jeanne (Harold) Anderson, Hallock, MN, Glenda (David) Sharples, Seattle; nine grandchildren, including Gina Aalgaard-Kelly, Lisbon; ten great-grandchildren; and a sister, Delores (Harold) Hansen, Phoenix, AZ.
Interment at Augustana Lutheran Cemetery, near Halstad.
Fredrikson Valley Funeral Home, Halstad, MN, was in charge of arrangements.

Violet L. Fairbanks
Funeral services for Violet L. Fairbanks, 69, Detroit Lakes, MN, were held on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at Augustana Lutheran Church, rural Detroit Lakes. Pastor Roy Noel and Chaplain Vicki Marthaler officiated. Mrs. Fairbanks died Sunday, January 23, 2005 at her residence under Hospice care.
Violet LaRayne Johnson, daughter of Leonard and Vernice (Thompson) Johnson was born on October 17, 1935 in Nome, ND. She grew up in Lisbon where she attended school. As a young lady she moved to rural Detroit Lakes where she also attended school and graduated from Detroit Lakes High School.
In 1958, she married Laverne R. Fairbanks, Detroit Lakes. She worked at Hiemark Service Station and the Hartz/Rog Roy’s Grocery store. Vi operated a Daycare business in Detroit Lakes, had worked at the Graystone Hotel/Restaurant, Jays Cafe and the VFW Club in Detroit Lakes up until the time of her illness. Vi was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church, the VFW, American Legion and Eagle’s Auxiliaries, the Detroit Lakes Bowling Association/W.I.B.C. She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl (Mike) DeVall, Detroit Lakes, Tamie Fairbanks, Akeley, MN; three sons, Terry (Sabrina) Spokane, WA, Rob (Roxanne) Detroit Lakes, Rory (Michelle) Hutchinson, MN; fourteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four brothers, Tom (Mary) Johnson, Bob (Diane) Johnson, all Detroit Lakes, Gary (Donna) Johnson, Inver Grove Heights, MN, and Paul (Jan) Johnson, Bondurant, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and sister-in-law, Len and Carol Johnson.
Interment at Augustana Lutheran Cemetery, rural Detroit Lakes.
David-Donehower Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes, was in charge of arrangements.

Marvelyn P. Ellison
Funeral services for Marvelyn P. Ellison, 79, Oakes, were held on Friday, January 28, 2005 at St. Charles Catholic Church, Oakes, ND. Father Mathew Pamplaniyil celebrant. Mrs. Ellison died Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at the Oakes Community Hospital, Oakes.
Marvelyn Pearl Kale, daughter of William and Lillian (Johnson) Kale was born on August 10, 1925 in LaMoure. She graduated from Verona High School and then attended Valley City State University, Valley City.
On October 12, 1943, she married John Ellison at Sacramento, CA. They lived in LaMoure, Northwood, Oriska and Edgeley, ND before moving to Oakes in 1965. John and Marvelyn were restaurant owners and she was also employed by Dickey County Social Services until her retirement. Mr. Ellison passed away February 22, 1979. Marvelyn was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church and also the Altar Society.
She is survived by five children, Marva (Bennie) Rodine, Gwinner, Bonnie (Mel) Bohnenkamp, Fertile, MN, Pam (Bob) Schneider, Oakes, Becki (Steve) Minge, Rockford, MN and Dan (Patti) Ellison, LaGrange, KY; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one brother, William (Norma) Kale, Verona. She was preceded in death by her husband, John and her parents.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Jon Fenno, Jason Rodine, Justin Rodine, John Bohnenkamp, Michael Schneider, Dominic Ellison and Brent Kale.
Honorary pallbearers were Laurie Johnson, Tammy Fuglseth, April Swenby, Ellison Hladky, Lacy Hladky, Amy Rose, Leslie Patterson and Lindsey Ellison. Special music was provided by Norm and Sue Goehring and Bill Hanson.
Interment at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, rural Oakes.
Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Oakes, was in charge of arrangements.

Norman E. Nordlinder
Funeral services for Norman E. Nordlinder, 75, Minot, were held on Saturday, January 29, 2005 at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot. Reverend Mary Lou Aune officiated. Mr. Nordlinder died Tuesday, January 25, 2005 in the Westhope Nursing Home.
Norman Edwin Nordlinder, son of John and Evelyn (Harrum) Nordlinder was born on January 2, 1930 in Duluth, MN. He attended country school in New Rockford and graduated from Verona High School. While growing up he worked on the family farm. Norman entered the US Army on October 30, 1951 and served during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on September 22, 1953 and returned to Verona. He worked road construction from 1953 to 1972 for Northern Improvement, Lindteigen, Minot Paving and was supervisor at the Minot Air Force Base roads and grounds until his retirement.
On October 22, 1966, he married Lorna Tennyson in Antler, ND. He was a member of the American Legion and the National Association of Retired and Federal Employees.
He is survived by his wife, Lorna, Minot; son, Tory Nordlinder, Neenah, WI; daughter, Traci (Jason) Zimmerman, Green Bay, WI; one granddaughter; brothers, Roger Nordlinder, New Rockford, Marvin Nordlinder, Lisbon, Dennis Nordlinder, Florida and Don (Nancy) Nordlinder, Alaska; sisters, Delores Lucht, Braham, MN and Marlys (James) Raatz, Verona, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Arnold Nordlinder and sisters, Bernice Prichard and Norma Hoover.
Honorary pallbearers for the funeral were his family and friends.
Music was provided by organist Dr. Mark Dimond and soloist Hardy Lieberg.
Interment at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan.
Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, was in charge of arrangements.

Leo J. McCann
Leo Joseph McCann died peacefully at home on November 16, 2005, after a short illness. Mr. McCann was born June 10, 1915 in Verona, ND to Bridget and Joseph McCann. Leo completed his studies at the State School of Science in 1937 in Wahpeton, ND. After graduating, Leo worked for Leach and Gamble Wholesale Fruit & Grocery Co. as a buyer. It was through his contacts at Leach & Gamble that he came to Seattle in 1938. Over the next five years his parents and four of his five siblings joined him and made Seattle their home.
He met and married Lillian Lyons (also from North Dakota) in January 1945. Together they raised five children in the neighborhood of Wedgwood. Leo and Lillian began attending Our Lady of the Lake Church when it was a Mission Church. Leo had been an active member of the parish for 60 years.
He is survived by his children, Cheryl L. Kitchin, Pamela M. Mallen, Daniel J. McCann, Mary J. Klumper and Patrick W. McCann and 12 grandchildren. One child, Edward L. McCann died at birth. He is also survived by his brother, Wayne McCann, from Concrete, WA. His great faith has supported him throughout his life and has been shared with all who knew him.
Funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.
Hoffner Fisher & Harvey, Seattle, WA were in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Cole A. Kiser
Funeral services for Cole Allen Kiser were held Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005 at the Haut Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, with Rev. Dennis Ellingsen officiating.
Cole Allen Kiser, son of Cale and Lavonne Kiser was born and died on November 28, 2005 at Innovis Hospital, Fargo.
He is survived by his parents, Cale and Lavonne Kiser, Lisbon; one half-sister, Erika Guthmiller, Lisbon; maternal grandparents, Bernie and Donna Michel and paternal grandparents, Gary and Carol ERickson, all of Jamestown, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Hauts Funeral Home, Jamestown, was in charge of arrangements.
