FESSENDEN -- Clara Newman, 99, Fessenden, died Nov. 24, 2000 in the Harvey nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Concordia Lutheran Church, rural Fessenden. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Fessenden. She is survived by three sons, William, Donald and Robert, all of Fessenden; three daughters, Ardis Zumpf, Miles City, Mont., Dorothy Thompson, Savannah, Ga., and Delores Alexander, Martin; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mabel Kuehl, Tacoma, Wash., and Alma Nelson, Dallas, Ore. Bertha Reich
BEULAH -- Bertha (Betz) Reich, 92, Beulah, died Nov. 24, 2000 in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Monday, at Immanuel Baptist Church, Beulah, with the Rev. Howard Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation hours will be from 6-9 p.m. MST today at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah. Bertha was born icon May 11, 1908, five miles east of Beulah, a daughter of David and Martha (Karlin) Betz. She grew up six miles southwest of Hazen and attended school at the Antelope Valley School No. 3. On July 3, 1928, she married icon Otto Reich. They farmed 9 1/2 miles south of Hazen until 1955, when they moved to a farm south of Zap. In 1965, Otto retired and they moved to Beulah. Otto died on July 18, 1972. Bertha worked part time at Beulah Joachim Memorial Home, was a member of the Beulah Senior Citizens and Immanuel Baptist Church. She enjoyed working with flowers and her garden, quilting, reading Christian books and loved Gospel music. She is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law, Raymond, Yuma, Ariz., Delvin, Zap, and Kenneth and Elaine, Zap; one daughter, Carol Mafua, Beulah, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Elsie Reich, Bismarck, Edna Erickson, Backus, Minn., Emma Bentz, Hazen, and Martha Thomson, Beulah. Bertha was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Henry and Ben; three sisters, Helen Mindt, Laura Betz and Ida Betz, and one daughter-in-law, Joyce. (Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah)

Marietta Vander Vorst
STRASBURG -- Marietta Vander Vorst, 78, Strasburg, died Nov. 25, 2000 in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, at Hope Reformed Church, Westfield. Further arrangements are pending with Myers Funeral Home, Linton.

Edna Voegele
MCCLUSKY -- Edna Voegele, 84, McClusky, died Nov. 23, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church, McClusky, with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, McClusky. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. today at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky and will continue from 6 to 8 p.m. with a rosary service at 7 p.m. at the church tonight. Edna Luella Schillinger was born icon on April 17, 1916, on the Morning Star Ranch south of Pickardville. She was the daughter of Edd and Lulu (Davenport) Schillinger. She moved with her family to Sioux Falls, S.D., Humbolt, S.D., and to Council Bluffs, Iowa. They returned to farm near Pickardville in 1933. She worked in Moorhead,Minn., Fargo, Chicago and Mandan. She returned to Fargo in 1940. She married icon David Voegele on July 23, 1943, in Fargo. They moved to a farm near Pickardville after David was honorably discharged from the army in 1945, after having served in World War II. They moved into McClusky in 1972. David died on Aug. 20, 1986. Edna was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the American Legion Auxiliary in McClusky. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Mariann, Richardton, Daniel and Dedree, Bismarck, William and Alberta, McClusky; grandchildren whom she dearly loved, Scott, Missy, Patrick, John, Teresa and her husband, Trent, Andrea and Erin; great-grandchild, Alexandra; and one brother, Robert Schillinger and his wife, Pearl, Colorado Springs, Colo. Edna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David; her sisters, Delia and Elenore; one brother, Edward Joseph; and one granddaughter, Lucinda. (Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky)

Margaret K. Wald
Margaret K. Wald, 82, Bismarck, formerly of Linton, died Nov. 23, 2000, in a Bismarck care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Linton. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. today, at Myers Funeral Home, Linton and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. There will also be a prayer service at 7 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe L. and Suzanne Wald, Wishek, and Steve and Nancy Wald, Fargo; nine daughters and eight sons-in-law, Monica and John Dykema, Linton, Emma and Don Jackman, Renton, Wash., Ann and Bill Bosch, Fargo, Margie Wangen, Petersburg, Christine and Larry Freidig, Lake Stevens, Wash., Betty and Floyd Fetzer, Helen and Jerome Werlinger, Vi and Elmer Weigel, and Irene and Monte Felchle, all of Bismarck; 28 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Joe M. Wald, Wishek, Kasmir and Anna Mary Wald, Wishek, and Frank and Mary Wald, Mandan. (Myers Funeral Home, Linton)

Anna Weisbeck
STRASBURG -- Anna Weisbeck, 87, Strasburg, formerly of Herreid, S.D., died Nov. 24, 2000 in the Linton hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Herreid, S.D. Burial will be in the church cemetery. She is survived by three sons, Allen, Pipestone, Minn., Bernal, Herreid, and Martin, Woodbury, Minn.; two daughters, Ethel Besonen, Madison, Minn., and Marilyn Thompson, Lakeville, Minn.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one brother, Mike Seiler, Herreid; and three sisters, Elizabeth Seiler, Minneapolis, Catherine Rock, Sioux Falls, S.D., Barbara Lindholm, Glendale, Calif. Margaret Broe
WILLISTON -- Margaret Broe, 82, Williston, died Nov. 24, 2000, in the Williston nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Williston, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, Williston. She is survived by her husband, Sig; one daughter, Shirley Miller; one son, Steve, Williston; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Louise Hanson, Kennewick, Wash., and Betty Kuderling, Cody, Wyo.; and three brothers, Jack Carns, Eugene, Ore., George Carns, Seattle, Wash., and Sam Carns, Williston. Kermit Grimm
HARVEY -- Kermit Grimm, 91, Harvey, died Nov. 26, 2000, in the Harvey hospital. Arrangements are pending at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.

Marcella Howes
Marcella Howes, 94, Mandan, died Nov. 24, 2000, in a Bismarck nursing home. Services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, with burial in Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Marcella was born icon Dec. 19, 1905, in Gutenberg, Iowa, the daughter of Bernard and Mary (Neises) Pins. At the age of six, she and her family moved to Dubuque, Iowa, where she attended school. She was married icon to Charles Howes in 1923. After her husband, Charles, retired, they moved to Mandan in 1970, where they were residents of LIberty Heights. Charles Sr. died in 1976. Marcella was very active in craft activities at Liberty Heights and played bingo as well. A member of First Baptist Church, she was a wonderful mother and grandmother, and will be missed very much by her loved ones. She is survived by her sons, Maurice, Rapid City, S.D., and Charles Jr., Mandan; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Paul; her sister, Bea Waltson; and her brothers, Don and Art Pins.

Donald L. Jensen
WILLISTON -- Donald L. Jensen, 89, Williston, died Nov. 25, 2000, at his home. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Williston, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, Williston. He is survived by his wife, Joan; five daughters, Kay Skadeland, Williston, Linda Voosen, Bloomington, Minn., Carol Christensen, Grand Forks, Michelle Bushaw, Deer Island, ore., and Kathleen Larson, Boise, Idaho; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Doug, Colorado Springs, Colo. Roy Magstadt
MOTT -- Roy Magstadt, 74, Mott, died Nov. 25, 2000, in the Hettinger hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. CST Tuesday at Zoar Congregational Church, Mott, with burial at 1:30 p.m. CST Wednesday in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan. He is survived by his wife, Loretta; four sons, DeWald, Victorville, Calif., Kenneth, Bismarck, Bob, Baxter, Minn., and Randy, Maple Grove, Minn.; three grandchildren; one brother, Arnold, Hesperia, Calif.; and one sister, Lavina Ostrich, Renton, Wash. Marietta Vander Vorst
STRASBURG -- Marietta Vander Vorst, 78, Strasburg, died Nov. 25, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hope Reformed Church, Westfield, with the Revs. Floyd Haan and Ray Van Beek officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. today at Myers Funeral Home, Linton, and will continue at the church one hour before services. Marietta was born icon Aug. 26, 1922, at Westfield, the daughter of John and Nellie (Huizenga) Rowerdink. Her mother died when she was nine years old and she cared for her younger siblings. She worked at the Westfield Store when she was a teenager. On April 1, 1942, she married icon Eddie Vander Vorst at Linton. They made their home on a farm where they raised their family. In February 1993, they moved into Strasburg. Marietta loved children, and was involved in their lives as a 4-H leader, a Sunday school teacher, and a vacation Bible school teacher. She prepared lunch for the children at Bakker School for many years. Marietta enjoyed participating in various Christian organizations, such as the Kuria Club, Christian Women and Reformed Church Women's Ministry. She was also a member of Hope Reformed Church. She enjoyed traveling to many locations in the United States and Europe. Marietta treasured time spent with friends, attending neighborhood birthday clubs, playing whist and bowling. She continued to enjoy her life after having experienced two strokes, which left her confined to a wheelchair. Grateful to have shared her life are her husband, Eddie; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Tess, Woodbury, Minn., and Curt and Vivian, Bismarck; four daughters and sons-in-law, Nyleen and Reuben Steinert, Wilton, Deb and Craig Renner, West Fargo, Lyndel and Rod Tschritter, Lincoln, and Patty and Darel Tschritter, Hague; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Gerrit and Dorothy Rowerdink, Ellendale, and Winnie Rowerdink, Strasburg. She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Robbie Renner; two brothers, Cornie and George Rowerdink; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Bertha Rowerdink, and Clarice and Mike Hout.

Jerome Votava
CASHEL -- Jerome Votava, 85, Cashel, died Nov. 22, 2000, in the Grafton nursing home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oakwood, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by three daughters, JoAnn Mattson, Cashel, Rosemary Watterud, Bismarck, and Marjorie Ellefson, Mandan; one son, Dennis, Maple Grove, Minn.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, James, Grafton; and one sister, Emma Schanilec, Grafton. LuVerne Beal
LuVerne Beal, 80, died Nov. 26, 2000, in her home in Bismarck. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Church of Corpus Christi, Bismarck, with the Rev. Steve Zastoupil officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery, rural Mandan. Visitation will be held at the church one hour before services. LuVerne M. Sheldon was born icon Aug. 25, 1920, in Napoleon. The youngest daughter of Archie and Mary Sheldon, LuVerne was raised in Napoleon. After graduating from Napoleon High School in 1938, she attended Ellendale College. During World War II she worked at Clearfield Naval Supply Depot in Ogden, Utah. In 1945, she married icon Norman Beal of Kintyre. The couple lived in Montana, Nevada and California, returning to Bismarck in 1972. She is survived by her husband, Norman; eight children, Suzanne Beal, Frederick, Md., Patrick Beal, Watauga, Texas, Margaret Hencz, Havre, Mont., Ida Beal, Phoenix, Ariz., Hank Beal, Sacramento, Calif., Laura Bossert, Bismarck, William Beal, Baton Rouge, La., and Peter Beal, Salt Lake City; her grandchildren, Paul, Cheryl and Melissa Beal, Adam and Matthew Hencz, Mitch and Claire Bossert, and Kate, Allen and Michael Beal; and one sister, Joyce Brennan, Ogden, Utah.
