Selkirk Mees
WILTON -- Selkirk W. "Bunny" Mees, 69, Wilton, died April 30, 2001, in a Fargo hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Kermit Culver officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, with military rites by VFW Post 1326. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, and will continue for one hour prior to services at the church. Selkirk was born July 18, 1931, in Hebron, the son of Herman and Elsa (Brecht) Mees. He grew up and attended school in Richardton. He entered the U.S. Navy and served in Korea during the war. In 1952 he and Verna "Pat" Kneeland were married in Haverhill, Mass. Four children were born to this union. In 1961 they returned to North Dakota. He worked as a mason. Pat died in 1976. In 1984 Selkirk married Linda Ziegler in Bismarck. Six children were born to this union. Selkirk was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Amvets. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and enjoyed playing bingo. He is survived by his wife, Linda; 10 children, Rick and Dar, Bismarck, Bob, California, Bill, Florida, Karen and Curt Adolf, Underwood, and Erin, Katie, Cole, Lauren, Bret and Jesse, all at home; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four brothers, Herman and Arlene, Turtle Lake, Sanferd and Corrine and Ted and Shirley, all of Menoken, and Tom and Jan, Idaho; two sisters, Marlene and Lud Feist and Sandy Mees, all of Bismarck; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Hillard and Whitey.

Robert Peterson
WILLISTON -- Robert E. Peterson, 79, Williston, died April 30, 2001, in a Williston medical center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Williston. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Ruby; his children, Robert Jr., Williston, Ken, Canon City, Colo., Roger, Bedford, Pa., Tami Belgarde, Trenton, and Michael, Patricia Peterson, Leah Peterson and Lana Peterson, all of Williston; 18 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Barbara Putz
Barbara Ann Putz, 57, Bismarck, died May 1, 2001, at her home. Arrangements are pending with Bismarck Funeral Home.

Dorothy Rebenitsch
Dorothy Louise Rebenitsch, 74, 726 Custer Drive, Mandan, died May 1, 2001, at her home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Albert Leary officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan. Dorothy was born Dec. 25, 1926, in Selfridge, to Michael and Anna (Bruning) Birrenkott. She was raised and educated in Breien, graduated from Solen High School and attended Bismarck Junior College. On July 9, 1951, she married Arthur J. Rebenitsch in Bismarck. She worked at Montgomery Wards, QB&R and Herbergers. Dorothy and Art owned and operated the Bismarck A&W restaurant for many years. Most recently she worked at Herbergers, until retiring in 1997. Dorothy enjoyed painting, reading, collecting rocks, bells and music boxes, sewing and needlepoint. She was active at Christ the King Church, serving as reader, CCD teacher and in Bible study. She is survived by five daughters and four sons-in-law, Meredith and Lynn Reynolds, Arlington, Wash., Michelle Rebenitsch, Bottineau, Jennifer and Randi Borth, Overland Park, Kan., Colette and Gene Clooten, Bismarck, and Joanna and Mark Fischer, Mandan; eight grandchildren, Bill, Alex and Kim Reynolds, Alexis Borth, Mike and Chad Clooten and Whittlee and Taylor Fischer; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Eileen and Bennie Ehreth and Audrey and Donald Koch, all of Mandan, and Shirley and Jim Rinde, Fargo; and one brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Kathleen Birrenkott, Bismarck. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Tammy Reisenauer
DICKINSON -- Tammy Reisenauer, 33, Dickinson, died April 30, 2001, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MDT Friday at River of Life Assembly Church, Dickinson. Further arrangements are pending with Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson.

Leonard Schuchard
Leonard Schuchard, 87, Bismarck, died April 29, 2001, at his home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Faith Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Jim Sorenson officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Bismarck Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to services at the church. Leonard was born May 22, 1913, the son of Clause and Louise (Fenske) Schuchard in Potsdam, Minn. He was raised and educated in Napoleon. He married Emelia Wolf June 25, 1936, in Napoleon. He farmed east of Napoleon until the family moved to Tolt, Wash., where he worked at Carnation Farms. In 1948 the family moved back to Napoleon where he farmed and worked for his brother Ervin in the plumbing and heating business. Leonard and Millie moved to Bismarck in 1960. He worked as a cement finisher, local 897, and for 17 years was employed by Jenson Upholstery. For the last 15 years he had a private business out of his home where he refurbished antique furniture. One of Leonard's greatest enjoyments came from the challenge of restoring a discarded piece of antique furniture to its original beauty. He was known as a master craftsman in antique furniture restoration. Leonard enjoyed discussing career achievements and goals with his grandchildren and spending time with his great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Emelia; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lyle and Charlene, Bismarck, and Darold and Eleanor, Fargo; two daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Bill Devereaux, Arizona City, Ariz., and Gloria and Gene Raatz, Sayner, Wis.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, LeRoy and Tillie Schuchard, Bothell, Wash.; one sister, Ada Schauer, Napoleon; and one sister-in-law, Delores Schuchard, Bismarck. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Elmer, Alfred, Ervin, Clarence, Lewis, Lester, Walter and Alvin; and one sister, Irene.

Robert Scott
MINOT -- Robert Louis Scott, 81, Minot, died April 30, 2001, in a Minot medical center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Augustana Lutheran Church, Minot. Burial will be in Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot. Visitation will be held from 1 to 8:30 p.m. today at Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot. Robert was born Aug. 25, 1919, in Minot, to Fred Louis and Alvina Louise (Raschke) Scott. He was raised in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1936. He served for two years in the North Dakota National Guard, and then worked as an airplane mechanic at the Minot International Airport. He moved to Gillette, Wyo., and worked in the oil fields. He returned to North Dakota and became a partner in the Tioga Machine Shop. He lived in Minot and worked for over 30 years as a machinist in oil rig repair in the Tioga area. Robert married Erna (Weisenburger) Merkel Nov. 26, 1965, in Minot. Erna owned and operated Erna's Café on south Broadway in Minot. He retired from the machine shop in 1982. They continued to live in Minot and he entered Trinity Homes in January 2001. Robert was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church, Minot, a lifetime member of the NRA, the Minot Gun and Rifle Club, Ducks Unlimited, was a pilot, and a member of the Magic Squares, a square dancing group. He was an avid sportsman. He is survived by his wife, Erna; his stepdaughters, Ilene Trusty and Marlene Eckholm, both of Bismarck, Arvada Johnson, Kintyre, and Geraldine Germundson, Minot; his stepson, Arnold Merkel, Minot; many step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; his sisters-in-law, Jan (Scott) Anderson and Laura M. Scott, both of Minot; his nieces, Beverly (Scott) Haas and Christie (Scott) Gutnecht, both of Minot, Jackie (Coughlin) Larson, White Bear Lake, Minn., and Jackie (Scott) Cherewick, Huntington Beach, Calif.; his nephews, Greg Scott, Aberdeen, S.D., Bill Coughlin, Lake Elmo, Minn., and John Coughlin, Beloit, Wis.; and many grandnieces and grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Marie Coughlin; two brothers, Tom and Herman Scott; and one stepson, LeRoy Merkel.

Ardeth Taylor
Ardeth (Mrs. Adrian C.) Taylor, 88, Florence, Ky., formerly of Bismarck, died Dec. 24, 2000, in an Edgewood, Ky., hospital. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Following the service, friends and family are invited to gather at First Presbyterian Church, Third and Thayer, Bismarck, for refreshments and fellowship.

Eugene Trottier
Eugene H. Trottier, 71 Billings, Mont., died April 28, 2001, in Billings. Services will be held at noon MDT today at St. Patrick's Co-Cathedral, Billings. Burial with military honors will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Billings. Eugene was born April 9, 1930, in Belcourt, to Joseph J. Trottier and Laura Clara Belgrade Trottier. He was reared on the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation and attended school locally and continued his education in the military where he earned a certificate in administration. Eugene enlisted in the US Air Force in 1947 and participated in the Berlin Air Lift. While in England for the Berlin Air Lift he was assigned temporary duty to the 2nd Bomber Command British, Bushy Park, Kingston on the Thames, London, England. He was honorably discharged in 1950. On November 29, 1950 Eugene married Cecilia M. LaVallie in Belcourt. In 1961 he began his career as a federal law enforcement officer. Duty stations throughout the Aberdeen area included the Turtle Mountain, Cheyenne River, Sisseton, Lower Brule, and Winnebago Indian Reservations. He retired as a Supervisory Criminal Investigator from the Aberdeen Area Office, Aberdeen, S.D., in October 1981. Eugene played key roles in the Wounded Knee 1973 uprising and the Red Lake uprising in May 1979 and received many awards including overall Superior Performance Award from the United States Department of the Interior Bureau of Indian Affairs. After retiring from law enforcement he began a second career as an outreach worker with the Indian Health Board, retiring in February 1998 after 10 years. Eugene was exemplified as a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Storm Lake, Iowa, and attended the Chicago Police Academy, completing not only the basic police course but also the courses prescribed for investigators. While in Chicago he worked with the Chicago Tough Squad. He is survived by his wife, Cecilia; four sons, Terrance (Angie) Trottier, Mandan, Eugene H. Trottier Jr., Forest Lake, Minn., Jay (Debbie) Trottier, Billings, Mont., and Duane (Patti) Trottier, Bismarck; three daughters, Patricia (Francis) Bosch, Aberdeen, S.D., Janice (Marcus) Bass, Winnebago, Neb., and Renee (Ron) Johnson, Billings, Mont.; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother; and one sister. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; and three brothers. (Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist Mortuary, Billings, Mont.)

Esther Bender
LINTON -- Esther Bender, 92, died April 30, 2001, in the Mobridge, S.D. care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Linton, with burial in Linton Cemetery. She is survived by one son, Leslie, Blaine, Minn.; five daughters, Dolores Jenkins, Linton, Virginia Kremer, Linton, Grace Wold, Salem, Va., Loma Gimbel, San Francisco, and Elvira Behrens, Wheatridge, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Bertha H. Cahoon, 82, Mandan, died May 1, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church, Mandan. Further arrangements are pending at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan.

Edmund Geiger
Edmund A. Geiger, 66, rural Mandan, died May 2, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Al Leary officiating. Burial will be in St. Vincent's Church Cemetery, rural Crown Butte. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a Christian Mothers rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Friday, followed by a parish vigil at 7:30. Eddie was born March 4, 1935, in Mandan, the son of Ralph P. and Katherine (Boehm) Geiger. He was raised on the farm and educated in a country school northwest of Mandan. He enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1959-1961. On Aug. 27, 1962, he married Nerina Mary Boehm in Mandan. After their marriage, they lived in Mandan for a few years before returning to the farm where he was born. He was an active member of the Eagles Club and St. Vincent's Verein. He is survived by his wife, Nerina; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Bruce and Norma, Bismarck, Alan, Fargo, and Wesley, Mandan; one daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Conway Kangas, Mandan; one granddaughter, McKenzie Kangas; his mother, Katherine, Mandan; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Emanuel and Bernice, Donald and Mariene, and James and Linda; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Regina and Ron Pulkrabek and Kathleen and John Boehm. He was preceded in death by his father; one son, Nicholes; one grandson, Skyler Bruce; two infant daughters, Susan and Lenore; one brother, Eugene; and three infant sisters.

Harry Johnson
Harry Johnson, 76, Bismarck, died May 2, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending at Boelter Funeral Home.

Amy Kunkel
NEW SALEM -- Amy Kunkel, the infant daughter of Kevin and Charys (Knaus) Kunkel of New Salem, who was born April 26, 2001, died May 2, 2001, in the arms of her parents in a local hospital. Funeral services and burial will be private. Visitation will be from 7-9 tonight at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan. She is survived by her parents; her sisters, Rachel Charys and Emily Sophia Kunkel; her grandparents, Ervin and Marge Knaus, Grand Forks, and Gloria and Dennis Kunkel, New Salem; her great-grandmothers, Nina Filibeck and Monica Goetzfridt, both of New Salem; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

GARRISON -- Patrick McRandall, 69, Garrison, died April 30, 2001, in a Minot hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Garrison, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Marlene; three daughters, Bernadette LaVigne, Wald Lake, Mich., Kathleen Schumaier, Garrison, and Theresa McRandall, Valley City; two sons, Daniel, Romulus, Mich., and Sean, Garrison; six grandchildren; one brother, Joseph, Warren, Mich.; and four sister, Gertie Lasek, Plymouth, Mich., Margaret, Ann and Phil, all of Bellamena, Ireland.
