Ann Putz
Ann Putz, 57, Bismarck, died May 1, 2001, in her home. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Jake Kincaid officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 7-8:30 tonight at Bismarck Funeral Home. Ann was born April 7, 1944, in Fargo, to Robert and Evelyn (Nack) Olgeirson. She was raised and educated in Bismarck, and graduated from Bismarck High School in 1962. She attended Bismarck Junior College from 1962-1964, where she began performing onstage. She married Ronald C. Putz on Dec. 29, 1964, in Bismarck. They lived in Pine Bluff, Ark. until the birth of their daughter, Martha, in 1966. Upon returning to Bismarck, Ann began her career with the Bismarck school system in 1973. She worked as a teacher's assistant at Pioneer Elementary School and then moved to Miller Elementary School in 1979 as a librarian, where she touched the lives of thousands of students with her menagerie of stuffed animals and music. Ann was a member of the Bismarck Civic Chorus and was on the board of directors for Dakota Stage Ltd. and One World Coffee House. Ann acted in numerous productions including "Nunsense" and "Godspell," and was assistant director in the plays "Monkey Business" and "Forever Plaid." She also went on a national tour with the Cornerstone Chorale of S. Louis, Mo. Ann sang in the Big People group (a musical group designed to entertain children). She performed numerous solos in the productions of "The Messiah." She was active in church choir, handbell choir and children's choir. Ann spent 20 years singing with Debi Rogers with a group called Stardust Twins. Ann and Ron received a humanities award from Gov. Art Link for their dedication to performing for children. In her spare time she was an amateur geologist and an avid collector of stuffed bears. In addition, she had a great love for nature and never let a bird or squirrel go unfed in her yard. Ann had a star quality about her, a sense of humor, a magnetism, an energy she shared beautifully with those in her presence, and we were always moved. Can we even picture her without her smile She lived her life to the fullest and was never happier than when surrounded by her grandchildren, Gaby and Ian. There will never be another Ann; we will miss her terribly. Ann is survived by her husband, Ronald; her daughter, Martha Brown and her husband Lee, Fargo; her grandchildren, Gaby and Ian Brown; her parents, Robert and Evelyn Olgeirson, Bismarck; and her brother, Dr. Erik Olgeirson, Littleton, Colo. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Gunnar and Martha Nack.

Tammy Reisenauer
DICKINSON -- Tammy Reisenauer, 33, Dickinson, died April 30, 2001, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MDT Friday at River of Life Assembly, Dickinson, with burial in St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery, Dickinson. She is survived by one son, Mike, Dickinson; two daughters, MiKayla and McKenzie, both of Dickinson; her parents, Jacob and Karin Reisenauer, Dickinson; one sister, Tina Woodbeck, Federal Way, Wash.; and three brothers, Rob, Dean and Mark Reisenauer, all of Dickinson. Richard Worthington
Richard Hosey Worthington was born Feb. 14, 1941, in Memphis, Tenn, to the late Dr. Victor Worthington and Dr. Ora Worthington. Richard died the first day of May 2001, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He died of a rare small intestine cancer at the young age of 60. A devoted husband, loving father, incredible grandfather and wonderful friend, is how Richard "Dick" Worthington will be remembered. All who had the pleasure of coming in contact with Dick will miss him very much. Richard H. Worthington was truly a genuine human being. Richard grew up in Piggott, Ark., attended military school at Junior Military Academy in Knoxville, Tenn., at the age of five. He graduated from Piggott High School in 1959. He served in the U.S. Air Force for two years and received an honorable discharge. He then went on to college at the University of Arkansas at Jonesboro, Ark. He graduated in 1968 with a bachelors degree in business. He was voted most popular his senior year of college. Dick worked for Ash Grove Cement Co. as a regional sales manager, and lived in Helena, Mont., for the past 16 years. Dick was an active member of the Montana Contractors Association (MCA), and served the MCA's Associates Board of Directors. Dick was the board's president twice during his 10 years of service. Dick was instrumental in causes for the Camp Make-A-Dream site near Gold Creek in 1996 and 1997. He also received the MCA's "The Associate" award in 1998. Among his many passions and accomplishments: Richard was president of the associates board of directors for the MCA, and active in Ducks Unlimited for many years. He was also a bronze member of Ducks Unlimited. Dick also achieved some of the most impressive Elk trophies to be taken out of the Gates of the Mountains. He was an avid trap shooter. Dick's favorite hobby was golfing; he hit a hole-in-one three times during his golfing career. Having fun, was when Dick was at his best, and as those who knew him can attest, he was at his best the majority of the time. It was however, his love of duck hunting that brought that brought him to Arkansas many times, where he enjoyed many duck hunting excursions with close friends who referred to him as "Tut." Dick also loved golfing while visiting Hot Springs, Ark. Richard will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Jacalyn; in addition to his children, Todd and his wife, Lori Worthington, Minneapolis, Sean Worthington, Duluth, Minn., Joy and her husband, Del Berger, Mandan, Julie and her husband, Michael Noone, Enderlin; his step-children, Jason Grenfell-Gardner, Tallion, Estonia, Russia, Ron Hanni, Butte, Mont., and Rebecca Mills, Colville, Wash.; his grandchildren, Sam and Joe Worthington, Minneapolis, and Katlyn Worthington, Mandan, who will miss their grandfather very much; his mother and stepfather, Ora and Huston Blair, Joiner, Ark.; his brothers, Victor and his wife, Reba Worthington Jr., West Memphis, Ark., and Dr. Madison and his wife Dr. Debra Sowell, Milan, Italy; his father-in-law, Allen Grenfell, Butte; his mother-in-law, June and her husband, Albert Blutcher, Colville, Wash.; his brother-in-law, Darrell and his wife, Judy Grenfell, Missoula, Mont.; his sister-in-law, Mia and her husband, Charles Lloyd, Spokane, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews, along with all his many friends. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to Dr. Weiner and his staff for their compassion. Visitation will be from 1-7 p.m. Friday, with family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Retz Funeral Home, Helena, Mont., and from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Helena. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, with cremation to follow. Interment will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to HomeLink of St. Peter's.

Katie Bietz
JAMESTOWN -- Katie Bietz, 97, Jamestown, died May 3, 2001, in a Jamestown care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Seventh Day Adventist Church, Jamestown. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown. She is survived by one son, Marvin, Jamestown; 16 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. (Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown)

Esther Bredeson
JAMESTOWN -- Esther I. Bredeson, 83, Jamestown, died May 1, 2001 in Jamestown. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at American Lutheran Church, Woodworth. Burial will be in Gem Cemetery, Woodworth. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; seven children, Thelma Hembroff, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Evelyn Mehlhoff, Redding, Calif., Kenneth and Thomas Stoppleworth, both of Belfield, Lois Sam, Minot, Mark Stoppleworth, Burlington, Wash., and Lee Bredeson, Oakes; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Lester and Orville Thompson, both of Jamestown, and Henry Thompson, Lakeland, Minn.; and two sisters, Irene Clark, Woodworth, and Ruth Krueger, Fargo. Bertha Cahoon
Bertha H. Cahoon, 82, Mandan, died May 1, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Charles Axness officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, where a prayer service will begin at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home, and for one hour before services at the church. Bertha was born April 13, 1919, in Otter Creek, the daughter of Christian and Aline (Meilland) Bauer. She attended school at Blue Grass and married Aulden Cahoon April 19, 1942, in Otter Creek. They farmed north of Hannover until moving to Mandan in 1969. Bertha was employed at the Colonial Motel in Mandan from 1969 to 1971 and at the Seven Seas in Mandan from 1972 to 1995, where she was employee of the month in 1991. A kind and softhearted woman, Bertha was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved gardening and reading and was an active member of First Lutheran Church. She will be deeply missed by her friends and family. She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Leota and Lawrence Fischer, Stanton, Marie Potter, Sterling, and Arlene and Malcolm Delzer, Mandan; three sons, Myron and his wife Susan, Stanton, Rodger and his very special friend Dawn Lawrence and Kenny and his very special friend Sharon Gregoryk, all of Mandan; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one sister, Hulda Ehrlich, Bismarck; and one brother, Albert Bauer, New Salem. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aulden, who died Feb. 18, 1987; two grandsons, Michael Cahoon and Ron Delzer; one sister, Pauline Bickel; and three brothers, Helmut, Andrew and Walter.

Edmund Geiger
Edmund "Eddie" Geiger, 66, rural Mandan, died May 2, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Al Leary officiating. Burial will be in St. Vincent's Church Cemetery, rural Crown Butte. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a Christian Mothers rosary will be said at 7 p.m., followed by a parish vigil at 7:30. Eddie was born March 4, 1935, in Mandan, the son of Ralph P. and Katherine (Boehm) Geiger. He was raised on the farm and educated in a country school northwest of Mandan. He enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1961. On Aug. 27, 1962, he married Nerina Mary Boehm in Mandan. After their marriage, they lived in Mandan for a few years before returning to the farm where he was born. Eddie was an active member of the Eagles Club and St. Vincent's Verein. He is survived by his wife, Nerina; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Bruce and Norma, Bismarck, Alan, Fargo, and Wesley, Mandan; one daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Conway Kangas, Mandan; one granddaughter, McKenzie Kangas; his mother, Katherine, Mandan; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Emanuel and Bernice, Donald and Mariene, and James and Linda; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Regina and Ron Pulkrabek and Kathleen and John Boehm. He was preceded in death by his father; one son, Nicholes; one grandson, Skyler Bruce; two infant daughters, Susan and Lenore; one brother, Eugene; and three infant sisters.

Lena Neurohr
Lena K. Neurohr, 94, Missoula, Mont., formerly of Dodge, died April 26, 2001, in a Missoula care center of natural causes. Arrangements are pending with Malletta Squire Chapel, Missoula.

Don Teske
WILLISTON -- Don R. Teske, 59, Williston, died April 26, 2001, at his home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fulkerson Funeral Home Chapel, Williston. Further arrangements are pending.

Jacob Guthmiller
JAMESTOWN -- Jacob Guthmiller, 86, Jamestown, died May 4, 2001, in a Jamestown care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Concordia Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with burial in Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown. He is survived by his wife, Violet; two sons, Lyle and Dallas, both of Jamestown; two daughters, Marcella Schmidt and Leona Braun, both of Jamestown; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Phillip, Jamestown. Harry Johnson
Harry Gene Johnson, 76, Bismarck, died May 2, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Boelter Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mary Porter officiating. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Monday at Boelter Funeral Home. Harry was born March 21, 1925, in Mandan, the son of Harry G. and Frances (Williams) Johnson. He grew up in Mandan and Hazelton. He attended Hazelton Public School. He worked for the family business, Johnson Motor Company. Harry also worked in road construction, was on the Hazelton City Commission, was active in Hazelton Fire Department, and was a fire chief. He went into the trucking business on his own and driving for other companies. Harry is survived by his sister, Shirley Schuh, Hoyt Lakes, Minn.; his brother-in-law, Herman Reich, Mandan; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and also many friends who will miss him. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Marilyn Reich; his niece, Susan Mulske; and his brothers-in-law, DeRell Schuh and Norman Mulske.

Raymond Knoell
HAZEN -- Raymond C. Knoell, 69, Hazen, died May 3, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital of complications from fighting diabetes for 40 years. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Monday at Peace Lutheran Church, Hazen, with the Rev. Walt Wolff officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9 tonight at Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen. Raymond was born Aug. 12, 1931, north of Hazen, a son of Christian and Pauline (Miller) Knoell. He was raised near Hazen, graduating from Hazen High School in 1949. He attended one year of college at Fargo, and then returned to Hazen to farm. After a farming accident, he attended Dickinson State College, graduating in 1960. On June 20, 1971, he married Judith Thomson at Beulah. He taught at Lehr, Ray, Starkweather, Zap, Dodge, Halliday and Hazen. Ray also farmed during this time as well as working at Schimmin Lumber in Hazen for a time. He loved the great outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing, and later he began woodworking, which he also enjoyed. Ray spent a lot of time with his nephew, Mike Baier, when Mike was young and they thoroughly liked being together. Raymond is survived by his wife of 30 years, Judy; one sister, Jean Bitterman, Port Orchard, Wash.; one brother, Lawrence Knoell, Brooklyn Park, Minn.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Irene Baier; and an infant brother, Ivan. Memorials are preferred to American Diabetes Association.

Violet Mayer
JAMESTOWN -- Violet Mayer, 74, Bismarck, formerly of Jamestown, died May 4, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held 2:30 p.m. Monday at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Revs Jeff Franko and Lisa Ahlness officiating. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery, Streeter. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. today at Haut Funeral Home, Jamestown, and will continue at the church one hour before services. Violet Ruff was born Nov. 11, 1926, on the family farm near Fredonia, the daughter of Reinhold R. and Katharine (Gall) Ruff. She attended the local rural school where she received her elementary education and grew to womanhood in the vicinity. Violet and Melvin Mayer were married June 20, 1948, in Gackle. They made their home eight miles west of Gackle. In 1974 they moved to Jamestown and continued to reside there until 1998 when they moved to Bismarck. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Jamestown. She is survived by her husband, Melvin; three daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria and Dennis Martin, Bismarck, Colette and John Thomack, Schenectady, N.Y., and Rachel and Steve Schmidt, Bismarck; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mable Mayer, Gackle. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and one sister.
