Rodny M. Anderson
Funeral services for Rodny M. Anderson, 91, Enderlin, were held Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006 at First Lutheran Church, Enderlin. Rev. Mike Toomey officiated. Mrs. Anderson died Friday, Dec. 22 at Maryhill Manor, Enderlin.
Rodny M. Sperstad, daughter of John and Marianna (Ulen) Sperstad, was born February 22, 1915 at Hanska, MN. She attended school at Hanska and rural Nome, ND. She received her teaching certificate from Ellendale. She taught school at Great Bend and Raritan schools, near Lucca, ND.
On September 29, 1946, she married Howard Anderson at Enderlin. They farmed near Enderlin. Howard died August 13, 1997. In 2000, she moved into Enderlin. She attended First Lutheran Church, Enderlin, where she taught Sunday School and was active in a circle. She served as township treasurer for 10 years. She was a member of the Homemaker’s Club and had been a 4-H leader.
She is survived by two daughters, Rosemary (Robert) Johnson, Bismarck, and Ruthann (James) Zielsdorf, Beach, ND; five grandchildren, and one sister, Olga Hanson, Enderlin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; an infant daughter; two sisters, Myrtle Tingley and Signe Sperstad, and two brothers, Milton and Morton.
Pallbearers for the funeral were David Tingley, Darrin Tingley, Mitchell Tingley, Sherman Sperstad, Daniel Baarstad, and Barry Gillund.
Music was provided by organist Shirley Hanson.
Interment at Enderlin Cemetery.
Armstrong Funeral Home, Enderlin, was in charge of arrangements.

John P. Horner
A Funeral Mass for John P. Horner, 81, Napoleon, ND, formerly of Burnstad, ND, was celebrated on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Napoleon. Mr. Horner died Friday, Jan. 12 at the Napoleon Care Center.
John P. Horner, son of John and Olga (Horner) Horner, was born April 8, 1925. He grew up on the family farm in the Burnstad area, and graduated from Burnstad High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from May, 1945 through September, 1946.
On October 19, 1948 he married Julia Piatz at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Following their marriage, they lived in Burnstad, where John worked for the Burnstad Farmers Union Elevator. In 1954 they moved to the Horner Family Farm, where they continued to live until they moved to Napoleon in 2003. John entered the Napoleon Care Center in July, 2006.
John served as a school board member for the Starkey and Napoleon school districts. He was a director of the Farmers Union Elevator boards in Burnstad and Napoleon. In 1970, he was elected director of the GTA Board (Harvest States), and served for 12 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and served as Grand Knight and District Deputy. He was also a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Julia; seven children, Sandy (Pat) Feist, Enderlin, Ron (Leanne) Horner, Bismarck, JoAnn (Mike) Ross, Williston, John (Patrice) Horner, Woodbury, MN, Susan (Jack) Gunsch, Bismarck, Julie (James) Somsky, Rosemount, MN, and David (Anita) Horner, Fargo; six brothers, Peter (Rose), Napoleon, Pius (Rosemary), Grand Terrace, CA, Oscar, Winona, MN, Allen (Vi), Tabor, SD, Anton (JoAnne), Sun Lakes, AZ, and Jerome (Dottie), Bismarck; two sisters, Rosemary Kelly, Poolesville, MD, and Betty Becker, Bismarck; 19 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Olga Horner.
Interment at St. Philip Neri Catholic Cemetery, Napoleon.
Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Napoleon, was in charge of arrangements.

Joyce Lewis
Joyce A. Lewis, 70, of Fargo, ND, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, at Innovis Hospital, Fargo.
Joyce was born May 22, 1936 in Devils Lake, ND, to Syver and Myrtle (Elverud) Paulson. On December 4, 1953, she married E. Wayne Lewis in Moorhead, MN. After E. Wayne returned from the military, they made their home in Fargo, where they raised their four daughters. Joyce was a loving mother and grandmother, and family was important to her.
She is survived by four daughters, Joanne (Richard) Brustad, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Cindy Ulland, Fargo, Sandra (Jay) Warner, West Fargo, and Suzanne Lewis, Waterbury, CT; grandchildren, Aric and Brandon Warner, Jessica Brustad, Chad Ulland, Megan Warner, Jennifer Ulland, and Matthew and Kristen Brustad, and one great-grandchild, Alison Warner.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Riverside Cemetery, or Hospice of the Red River Valley.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 10:00 a.m. at Olivet Lutheran Church, Fargo.
Visitation was held one hour prior to the service.
Burial at Riverside Cemetery, Fargo.
Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, was in charge of arrangements.

Laura Davidson
Laura Davidson, 45, Alberta, MN, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007 at Stevens Community Medical Center, Morris, MN.
Laura Marie Davidson, daughter of Neil Jerome and Laura Mae (Green) Davidson, was born on April 11, 1961 in Lisbon. She was baptized into the Lutheran Faith at Fillmore Lutheran Church, rural Enderlin, and confirmed in Enderlin. She grew up there, where she also received her schooling, graduating from Enderlin High School in 1979. She continued her education at Valley City State University, and then transferred to North Dakota State University, where she received her BA in teaching. She continued to live and work in Fargo until 1998, when she and her son, Casey, moved to Alberta. Laura taught English at the Chokio-Alberta High School.
She is survived by her son, Casey Steven Davidson, Alberta; her mother, Laura Mae Davidson, Morris; four brothers, Steven Davidson, Enderlin, Randy (Marta) Davidson, Bovina, TX, Robert (Darcy) Davidson, Beulah, ND, and Richard (Laurie) Davidson, Big Lake, MN; two sisters, Amy (Paul) Wadeson, Fingal, ND, and Kristi (David) Domm, Sleepy Eye, MN.
She was preceded in death by her father, Neil Jerome Davidson, and one sister, Cynthia Davidson.
Pallbearers for the funeral were David Hofland, Paul Brownlow, David C. Anderson, Dwayne Nelson, Ron Draper, and Mark Borgen.
Music was provided by organist Deb Mahoney and soloist Mary Huebner.
Pedersen Funeral Home, Morris, was in charge of arrangements.

Norbert Block
Norbert "Bob" Louis Block, 74, Jamestown, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Block was born Sept. 3, 1925, at Beardsley, Minn., the son of Louis Joseph and Bessie L. (Bohannon) Block. He grew up and attended school at Beardsley, later attending high school at Morris, Minn. He entered the U.S. Navy Sept. 2, 1943, at Fargo, N.D., and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater as seaman first class on the U.S.S. Heywood. He received a Purple Heart for being wounded in action in World War II and a WW II Victory Medal. He was discharged Oct. 24, 1946, at Bremerton, Wash. He married Elinore Edwardson April 2, 1948. They moved to Santa Clara, Calif., where he worked as a carpenter. They moved back to North Dakota in 1950, where he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Foster County and later Stutsman County. He worked the Tioga oil fields from 1953-56. They moved back to Jamestown, where he worked for 35 years for the City of Jamestown as a heavy equipment operator, retiring as street superintendent in 1990. He co-owned RB Tree Transplanting with his son, Roger, from 1977-95. He was a volunteer fireman for the City of Jamestown for eight years. He was a member of the Jamestown Eagles, a life member of the VFW, life member and past commander of the Disabled American Veterans, and an honorary member of the Jamestown Fire Department. He enjoyed camping, fishing, bowling and wood working, and was a little league baseball coach for many years.
He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Linda L. (Thomas) Ray and Susan L. (John), Johnson, both Jamestown, Marilyn L. (Shelby) Flaig, Bismarck, N.D., and Gloria L. (Ross) Burkhardt, Phoenix, Ariz.; five sons, Gary L. (Roberta), Jerome L., Douglas L. (Sheila), Roger L. (Kathy), and Brian L. (Tracy Fliflet), all Jamestown; a sister, Dorothy (John) Ott, Hemet, Calif.; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gerald, killed in action during WW II; and two sisters, Rita and Thecla "Pat."
Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, May 18, Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with the Rev. Terry Anderson officiating. Arrangements by Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Burial: North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, N.D.
Memorials: Jamestown Home Health/Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

Susan Laraway
Susan B. Laraway, 47, Round Lake Beach, Ill., died Thursday, May 11, 2000, at her home.
Susan Laraway was born Feb. 5, 1953, at Jamestown, the daughter of Don and Jane (Riley) Laraway. She was formerly of Japan, California, and many other military assignments around the world. She was once employed as a police officer in Hannibal, Mo. She married Terry Whalen Oct. 20, 1990. She had resided in Round Lake Beach for the last 18 months. She was currently employed as a special agent with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. She has been listed in Who's Who of American Police Officers.
She is survived by her husband; a son, Steven Whalen; her parents, Hannibal, Mo.; and three sisters, Rita Ann Laraway, Patricia Jane (Arthur) Dobrzynski and Mary Jean Laraway: and two brothers Donald William Jr. and L. Martin (Kris).
She was preceded in death by a brother, Stephen.
Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, with Father Cletus Madu officiating.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.

Inez Pollert
Inez Pollert, 92, LaMoure, N.D., formerly Valley City, N.D., died Sunday, May 14, 2000, at St. Rose Care Center, LaMoure.
Inez Talbott was born Oct. 18, 1907, in Douglas, N.D., the daughter of Fred and Nora (Pierce) Talbott. She grew up, was educated and graduated from high school in Douglas. She married Philip Pollert Sept. 18, 1927, in Douglas. They lived in Douglas. In 1941 they moved to rural Litchville, N.D., where they farmed. In 1970 they retired and moved into Litchville. In 1988 they moved to Valley City. He died July 18, 1989. In June 1999 she entered St. Rose Care Center, Valley City. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was a Lucky 13 Homemaker for many years. She enjoyed reading and sewing.
She is survived by a daughter, Doris (Wilbert) Wallner, Berlin, Wis.; two sons, Duane (Elaine), Kathryn, N.D., and Clifford (Ruth Ann), Miles City, Mont.; two brothers, Claude, Garrison, N.D., and Gerald (Mildred), Minot, N.D.; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 18, Grace United Methodist Church, Marion, N.D., with the Rev. Steve C. Johnson officiating. Arrangements by Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City.
Burial: Lakeview Cemetery, Marion.
