TURTLE LAKE -- A memorial service for Joyce Gottschall, 62, Thornton, Colo., was held June 9, 2001, in Commerce City, Colo. She is survived by five children, Candace Perez, Aberdeen, S.D., Brian, Thornton, Teresa West, Thornton, Allen, Littleton, Colo., and Lenus, Norfolk, Va.; one sister, Darlene Hochsprung; and one brother, Byron Lindteigen.

HARVEY -- Ingebor Hove, 94, Harvey, died June 19, 2001, in the Harvey nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity Bethany Lutheran Church, Harvey. Further arrangements are pending at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.

SELFRIDGE -- Regina Jean Kline, 63, New Castle, Wyo., died June 11, 2001, in New Castle. Services and burial were held June 15 at Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, S.D. She is survived by her husband, Orville Jr.; four sons, David, Kenneth and Jeffery, all of New Castle, and Keith, Longview, Wash.; one daughter, Karen, Kelso, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Bernard Braun, Bismarck; and six sisters, Tillie Landeis, Ann Berger, Barbara Feist, all of Mandan, Elizabeth Flemmer and Theresa Jefferson, both of Phoenix, and Katie, Billings, Mont.

Irene Kost
HERREID, S.D. -- Irene Kost, 80, formerly of Herreid, died June 7, 2001, at her home in Caliente, Calif. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Fairview Cemetery, Herreid. Further arrangements are pending at Myers Funeral Home, Linton.

DICKINSON -- Vincent Kubischta, 89, Dickinson, died June 18, 2001, in his home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT today at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson, with burial at 11 a.m. CDT Thursday in Hope Cemetery, Hope. He is survived by his wife, Fern; four sons, Kenneth, Belgrade, Mont., Bennett, Bismarck, Dennis, Hope, and Joel, Beaverton, Ore.; three daughters, Darlene Jorgenson, Dickinson, Kaylene Jepson, Killdeer, and Annette Kirschenheiter, Bismarck; 26 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. MINOT -- Angela M. Lee, 71, Minot, died June 18, 2001, in a Minot hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot, with burial in Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot. She is survived by one sister, Jackie Goebel, Minot. (Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot)

DICKINSON -- Jack Mayer, 65, Dickinson, died June 18, 2001, in his home. Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at First Congregational Church, Dickinson. Further arrangements are pending at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson.

LANKIN -- Robert Monson, 68, Lankin, died June 17, 2001, in a Fargo hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks, with burial in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Edinburg. He is survived by one daughter, Cheryl Miller, Bismarck; one grandson; one brother, Roger, Dilworth, Minn.; and three sisters, Neva Nelson and Betty Scott, both of San Diego, Calif., and Judy Spangler, Cincinnati, Ohio.

TURTLE LAKE -- Betty Nash, 88, Tamarac, Fla., died June 15, 2001, in her home. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Turtle Lake Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, James; and one brother, Jake Schlafmann, Bismarck. (Goetz Funeral Home, Turtle Lake)

TWIN BUTTES _ George Perry, 79, Twin Buttes, died June 18, 2001, in the Hazen hospital. Services will be held dat 1 p.m. MDT Wednesday at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah, with burial in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Twin Buttes. He is survived by two daughters, Diana Tomlin and cindy Perry, both of Twin Buttes; one son, Michael, Corpus Christi, Texas; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Elaine Harris, Guernsey, Wyo.

GRENORA -- Clifford B. Price, 89, Grenora, died June 19, 2001, in the Williston hospital. Arrangements are pending at Fulkerson Funeral Home, Williston.

KEENE -- John Rice Jr., 76, Williston, died June 18, 2001, in the Williston care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Clear Creek Lutheran Church, Keene. Further arrangements are pending at Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City.

Rose Schmitt, 97, Bismarck, died June 18, 2001, in her home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Bismarck. Further arrangements are pending at Bismarck Funeral Home.

Harold Sorensen
GARRISON -- Harold E. Sorensen, 73, Lead, S.D., died June 15, 2001, in his home in Garrison. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Fraiday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Garrison, with burial in Ft. Meade National Cemetery, Sturgis, S.D., at 3 p.m. Monday. He is survived by three daughters, Geneva Kubal, Crystal DeJarlais and Lorelei Sorensen, all of Minneapolis; two brothers, Soren, Grand Junction, Colo., and Gerry, Garrison; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Julius Thies
VERONA -- Julius J. Thies, 93, died peacefully during his sleep in a Portland, Ore. hospital on June 17, 2001. He was born Jan. 8, 1908, at home near Verona, to John D. and Emma (Hering) Thies. Julius married Rosa Giovannoni on Oct. 3, 1934, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bismarck. He is survived by his wife, Rosa; two daughters, LaVonne Hochhalter, Wilton, and Rosalind Naumann; three sons, John, Richard and Randall, all of Portland, Ore.; 16 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. His father, mother and sister preceded him in death.

Florence Aberle
ZEELAND -- Florence Aberle, 63, Zeeland, died Feb. 29, 2000 in the Ashley hospital after a short battle with cancer. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Zeeland, with the Revs. Leonard Eckroth and John Lewandowski officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Zeeland. There will also be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the church.
Florence (Welk) Aberle was born on April 3, 1936 on a farm near Hague to Gabriel and Mary (Welder) Welk. She attended rural school in Hague.
She married William Aberle on Oct. 13, 1958 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Zeeland. They made their home on a farm near Zeeland until they retired in 1994 and moved to town. Florence operated the Zeeland Bar and Grill from 1996 until her death.
She was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church and Christian Mothers. She enjoyed doing ceramics, gardening, bowling and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Grateful to have shared her life are her husband, William Aberle, Zeeland; her two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Donna Aberle, Zeeland, and Tom and Lori Aberle, Fort Collins, Colo.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Mary and Jamie Heidrich, Bismarck, Denise Aberle, Bismarck; seven grandchildren, Andrea, Deanna Arielle, Seth, Christina, Jessica and Morgan; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Victor and Darlene Welk, Fargo, Paul and Sandy Welk, Lodi, Calif., Bill Welk, Lodi Calif.; Jerome and Ruth Welk, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and four sisters and brothers-in-law, Lena and John Wolf, Clark, S.D., Angie and Bill Wolf, Clark, S.D., Doris and Pete Hartze, Eagan, Minn.; Kathy and Pat Pribula, Blaine, Minn.; and special friends, Charles Keller Jr. and sister-in-law, Lee Wald.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister and an infant son. (Myers Funeral Home, Linton)

Esther Bentz
BEULAH -- Esther Bentz, 87, Beulah, died Feb. 29, 2000 in the Beulah care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Friday, at Salem United Methodist Church, Hazen, with the Rev. Bill Wagner officiating. Burial will be in Hazen City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. MST Thursday, at Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen.
Esther was born the daughter of Willis Edgar and Sadie (Peeler) Bossen on May 21, 1912 on the farm in rural Stanton. She grew up and attended rural school in the Stanton area and later attended high school in Stanton. Following her schooling, Esther returned to the farm. On Oct. 29, 1936, Esther was united in marriage to Edmund Bentz at Stanton. Together they had a farm east of Hazen, where Ed and Esther lived until Ed passed away on Dec. 24, 1989. Following Ed's death, Esther moved into town and later to Beulah, where she resided until the time of her death. She enjoyed gardening, embroidering, and most of all her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was loved and will be missed by all.
Esther is survived by two daughters, Betty Koch, Mandan, and Iris Hintz and her husband, Ervin, Stanton; five grandchildren, Bruce and Brian Hintz, Christine Gomez, Mark Koch and Theresa Whisenhunt. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren and one sister, Vera Eckenrode. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ed; and two sisters. (Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen)
