William Andres
William Richard Andres, 70, Apple Valley, Minn., formerly Jamestown, died Monday, May 15, 2000, at Apple Valley Health Care Center, Apple Valley.
Mr. Andres was a member of the Apple Valley Legion Post 1776.
He is survived by his wife, Denise; a son, Richard (Felicia), Apple Valley; four sisters, Sylvia Hoffmann, Jamestown; Doris (Calvin) Spitzer, Billings, Mont., Betty (Elmer) Pfaff, Tappen, N.D., and Jean (Kenneth) Gerber, Montpelier, N.D.; a brother, James, Jamestown; and two granddaughters.
Services: 1 p.m. Thursday, May 18, White Funeral Home Chapel, Apple Valley.
Burial: Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minn.

Andrew Lambert
Andrew John Lambert, 18, Ellendale, N.D., died of natural causes Sunday, May 14, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Lambert was born June 30, 1981, at Aberdeen, S.D., the son of Kenneth W. and Rachel R. (Hoff) Lambert. They lived in Aberdeen, where he attended school. In 1988 they moved to Fargo, where he attended school. In 1992 they moved to Ellendale, where he attended school. He was employed at Performance Centers Incorporated, Oakes, N.D., where he was in telemarketing. While in school he was active in track and Bible quizzing at Assembly of God Church, Ellendale. He enjoyed skate boarding.
He is survived by his mother, Ellendale; his father, Minneapolis, Minn.; two sisters, Rebekah Stephens and Leah Lambert, both Ellendale; and a brother, Timothy Merritt, Aberdeen.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ruth and Otto Hoff and Don and Alicia Lambert; and an infant sister.
Services: 4 p.m. Thursday, May 18, Church of the Nazarene, Ellendale, N.D., with the Rev. Don Brown officiating. Arrangements by Carlsen-Holte Funeral Home, Ellendale.
Burial: Ellendale City Cemetery, Ellendale.

Robert O'Connor
Robert W. "Bobby" O'Connor, 75, New Rockford, N.D., died Monday, May 15, 2000, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Mr. O'Connor was born Nov. 15, 1924, on the family farm in Wells County, near New Rockford, N.D., the son of Hugh and Anna (Roffler) O'Connor. He graduated from high school at St. James Academy, New Rockford. In 1945 he entered the U.S. Army serving in Italy during World War II. He was discharged Dec. 24, 1946. He returned to the family farm, where he operated the Bremen (N.D.) Bar. He later sold the bar and continued farming until retiring in 1990. He married Hazel Dablow Gerdes April 13, 1977, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, rural Bremen. In 1998 they moved into New Rockford. He was a member of New Rockford Eagles, American Legion, Knights of Columbus and St. John's Catholic Church. He was a former member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, rural Bremen. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling in his earlier years.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Florinda (Doug) Hoppe, Sioux Center, Iowa; a brother, Francis (Dorothy), New Rockford; four sisters, Mary Stevenson, Valley City, N.D., and Betty Schaefer, Alice Allmaras and Beatty (Jerry) Engels, all New Rockford; a sister-in-law, Donna Mae O'Connor, Bremen; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jack, Ray and James; and a sister, Aileen Knudsen.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 18, St. John's Catholic Church, New Rockford, with the Rev. Jerome Hunkler officiating. Arrangements by Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford.
Burial: St. John's Catholic Cemetery, New Rockford.

Marcella Allmaras
Marcella M. Allmaras, 96, New Rockford, N.D., died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at Augustana Care Center, Hastings, Minn.
Marcella Marie Beauclair was born May 29, 1903, in Tiffany Township, rural McHenry, Eddy County, N.D., the daughter of Stephen and Ellen (McCrank) Beauclair. She attended country and consolidated schools in Eddy County. In 1921 she graduated from New Rockford (N.D.) High School. She received her teacher's certificate from Valley City (N.D.) College. She taught country school in Bremen Township and Munster Township in North Dakota. She married George R. Allmaras Nov. 18, 1925, at St. John's Catholic Church, New Rockford. They farmed west of New Rockford, until they moved into New Rockford in 1960. She had cared for a sickly infant daughter and elderly parents. He died Oct. 18, 1995. She was a member of Royal Neighbors, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bremen, Christian Mothers, St. John's Catholic Church, New Rockford, and St. Theresa's Circle. She enjoyed serving her church communities and playing cards.
She is survived by three sons, Raymond R., Roseville, Minn., Clemence (Jean), New Rockford, and Charles (Lorraine), Colorado Springs, Colo.; four daughters, Camilla (Jim) Lex, Kalispell, Mont., Patricia (Duane) Straley, Savage, Minn., Lorraine (John) McManmon, Hastings, and Marcella (Gerald) Backes, New Richmond, Wis.; a brother, Edward, Fargo; a sister, Patricia Penderitsch, St. Paul, Minn.; 27 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; an infant daughter, Yvonne; two grandsons and four brothers.
Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, St. John's Catholic Church, New Rockford, with the Revs. Stephen Beauclair, O.S.B. and Jerome Hunkler officiating.
Prayer service: 7 p.m. today at the church.
Visitation: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today, Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford.
Burial: St. John's Cemetery, New Rockford.

Lorraine Hird
Lorraine M. Hird, 68, Jamestown, died Thursday, May 18, 2000, at Hi-Acres Manor, Jamestown.
Lorraine Mae Klima was born April 5, 1932, at Merricourt, N.D., the daughter of Roman and Mary (Czerney) Klima. She grew up and attended school in the Merricourt area and later attended Edgeley (N.D.) High School graduating in 1950. She worked at Edgeley Creamery and Edgeley Drug Store until 1955. She married Samuel A. Hird in 1955 at Transfiguration Catholic Church, Edgeley. They lived in Edgeley, where they went into partnership with his father and brothers in an implement business, Hird and Sons Inc., of which she was the bookkeeper. In 1982 they moved the business to Jamestown, where they have lived since. From 1990 to 1993 she worked for Westward Products, Jamestown. She recently entered Hi-Acres Manor, Jamestown.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Kim and Mark (LaChel), both St. Paul, Minn.; two sisters, Alice Kellogg, Fargo, and Helen Steinwand, Ellendale, N.D.; and a granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Blanche Mammel; and a brother, James.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Transfiguration Catholic Church, Edgeley, with the Rev. Duane Cote officiating.
Prayer Services: 7:30 p.m. today, Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, and 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Visitation: 2 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel, and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Edgeley.

Elouise Sanders
Elouise Sanders, 85, Jamestown, died Friday, May 19, 2000, at Jamestown Hospital, Jamestown.
Elouise Goldwire was born Oct. 10, 1914, at Clyo, Ga., the daughter of Leander and Chaney Goldwire. She attended school in Clyo, and following her education moved to Savannah, Ga., where she worked as a beautician. She went to Liberia, West Africa and worked as a traveling teacher for the Baha'i Faith for 23 years. She returned to the United States and lived in New York from 1989 to 1992. In 1992 she went to South Africa on her way to St. Helena Island, off the southwest coast of Africa, where she continued her work as a traveling teacher for the Baha'i Faith. She returned to the United States in 1994. She moved to Jamestown in 1995. She was a member of the Baha'i Faith.
She is survived by a son, Leandra, Tampa, Fla.; and a brother, Frank, Freeport, Long Island, N.Y.
She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers and sisters.
Private Family Services: Held at Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.
Private Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.

Edna Swanberg
Edna M. Swanberg, 81, Jamestown, formerly East Grand Forks, Minn., died Monday, May 15, 2000, at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center, Jamestown.
Edna Mae Elsie Melin was born Sept. 30, 1918, in East Grand Forks, the daughter of Frank and Alma (Samuelson) Melin. In 1935 she graduated from East Grand Forks Central High School. She attended the Teachers Training School in East Grand Forks and Bemidji, Minn. She taught school in Kittson County, Minnesota. She married Carl Swanberg Oct. 26, 1940. They lived in California and Kansas for a brief period. She worked at Mendenhall Presbyterian Church, East Grand Forks, as a secretary. She worked at Home of Economy, Grand Forks, N.D., from 1965 to 1988 when she retired. He died Nov. 16, 1967. In 1997 she moved to Jamestown.
She is survived by two daughters, Wendy (Stephen) Schrider, Ocean View, Del., and Sally (Ken) Wallace, Jamestown; five sons, Gordon (Sheila) and Roger (Jeanine), both East Grand Forks, Glenn (Nancie), Seattle, Wash., Paul, Mesa, Ariz., and Steven, Grand Forks; a sister, Marie Anderson, Roseburg, Ore.; 21 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three sisters, Agnes, Lila and Thelma; and a brother, Kenneth.
Services: 2 p.m. May 17, Mendenhall Presbyterian Church, East Grand Forks.
Burial: Resurrection Cemetery, East Grand Forks.
