He is survived by his wife, Helen; one daughter, Candus Haas, Yakima, Wash.; one son, John, Carrington; 10 grandchildren; one sister, Mary Sinkler, New Rockford; and three brothers, Norman, Los Gatos, Calif., Lewis, Tacoma, Wash., and Fred, Port Angeles, Wash. Kenneth Jochim
Kenneth Jochim, 54, Brooklyn Park, Minn., formerly of Bismarck, died Dec. 20, 2000, at his home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Church of St. Mary, Bismarck, with the Rev. Charlie Heidt officiating. Spring burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck. There will be no visitation at the church. Ken was born Nov. 18, 1946 in Strasburg, N.D., to John and Rose (Heidrich) Jochim. He was raised and educated in Linton, graduating from St. Anthony High School in 1964. Ken moved to Bismarck in 1965 to attend Bismarck State College. He married Anita Garske on June 15, 1968. In 1967 Ken started his 33-year produce career with Super Valu Inc., the first 28 years in Bismarck and the last five years in Minneapolis. Ken took a two-year leave of absence in 1968 to serve in the U.S. Army, where he served a tour of duty in Vietnam. He is survived by his wife, Anita, Brooklyn Park; one son, Bryan, Bismarck; one daughter, Kristin, Hopkins, Minn., and future son-in-law, Matthew Garvey, St. Paul, Minn.; four sisters, Rose (Mike) Senger, Bismarck, Ann (Pius) Baumgartner, Strasburg, Lorraine (Dewey) Pearson, Isle, Minn., and Helen (Anton) Bosch, Bismarck; and one brother, Johnny (Colette) Jochim, Bismarck. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the American Cancer Society.

Ruth Harriet Klein
Ruth Harriet Klein, 79, formerly of Bismarck, died Dec. 20, 2000, in a Fargo hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, with the Rev. Steve Easton officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Ruth was born July 22, 1921 in Thrift, Wash., the youngest daughter of Ralph and Katherine Colburn. She moved with her family to Hazelton, N.D., where she received her education and helped in her father's paint shop. She attended Wahpeton State School of Science. In February 1942 she married Walter G. Klein. During World War II she lived in Linton, N.D., and Zumbro Falls, Minn. After the war, she and Walt lived in several communities, Osceola, S.D., Hazelton, N.D., Hallock, Minn., and Hettinger, N.D. They retired to Hazelton in 1972 and spent many winters at Apache Junction, Ariz., and went on several tours. Ruth worked in her husband's elevator, the U.S. Postal Service, the Community Hospital at Hallock, the Hazelton Cafe and the Hazelton Credit Union. Ruth was a member of the OES for over 50 years and was in active member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was always active in her church, communities and family. She had resided at the Sharp View Home in Moorhead the past three years. Ruth is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ralph, Grand Forks, Dave and Janice, Hallock, Minn., and Wayne and JoAnn, Fallon Nev.; three grandsons; three granddaughters, six great-grandsons; and eight great-granddaughters. Those that passed on before her were her husband; her parents; and two sisters.

Betsy Marcus, 82, Big Timber, Mont., formerly of Wibaux, Mont., died Dec. 22, 2000, at her home. She is survived by one son, Malcolm Marcus, Towner.

V. Stanley Olson, 80, 2500 Centennial Road, Bismarck, died Dec. 21, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Eastgate Funeral Chapel, Bismarck. Further arrangements are pending.

Reuben Otto, 73, Mandan, died Dec. 22, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church, Mandan. Arrangements are pending with Perry Funeral Home, Mandan.
Alice P. Suchy
Alice P. Suchy, 91, Mandan Care Center, died Dec. 22, 2000, at the care center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Perry Funeral Home Chapel, Mandan, with the Rev. Paul Fisk officiating. Burial will be in St. Johns Cemetery, south of Mandan. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Tuesday until time of services at the funeral home. Alice was born March 22, 1909 southwest of Mandan, to Joseph T. and Marie (Tesnohlidek) Klesalek. She was raised and educated in rural schools in Morton County and attended beauty college in Bismarck. She married Joe A. Suchy Oct. 5, 1931 in Mandan. They farmed south of Mandan and had a diversified farming operation. Joe died Nov. 22, 1975. Alice continued living on the farmstead until moving to the Mandan Care Center in July 1999. She volunteered much of her time to R.S.V.P. and enjoyed crocheting, gardening and visiting her grandchildren. She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Jeanette Dohn, Rapid City, S.D., Jacqueline and Chuck Krause, and Connie and Tom Thompson, all of Mandan; one son and daughter-in-law, Darrel and Eunice Suchy, Mandan; one sister, Mildred Gibson, Bakersfield, Calif.; one brother, Robert Klesalek, Shawmut, Mont.; six grandchildren, Tracy Dohn, Tricia Williams, Robyn DeVault, Darren Suchy, Kym Koenig and Karla Erhardt; seven great-grandchildren, Jacob Williams, Travis Williams, Kyra and Keaden Erhardt, Matt Carlson, and Kim and Brian DeVault. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter Patricia Ann; three brothers, Louie, George and Joe; and one sister, Mary Stephens.
