Rodney Clemens
Rodney C. Clemens, 50, Sheridan, Wyo., died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at Sheridan.
Mr. Clemens was born March 28, 1950, in Jamestown, the son of William and Agnes (Glowach) Clemens. He grew up and attended schools in Jamestown. He married Judy Kohoutek July 14, 1967, in Seattle, Wash. They lived in Jamestown and he worked for his father. In 1971 they moved to Sheridan, where he worked for BNSF Railroad. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He enjoyed camping in the mountains.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Rodney Paul (Tricia), Scottsdale, Ariz.; a daughter, Kimberly Jean (William) Harnish, Sheridan; two brothers, William and Terry, both Sheridan; a sister, Carolyn Miemietz, Jamestown; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Kenneth.
Services: Held June 8, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Sheridan, with the Rev. William Heine officiating. Arrangements by Ferries Funeral Home, Sheridan.
Burial: Sheridan Municipal Cemetery, Sheridan.
Memorials: Immanuel Lutheran Church, Sheridan.

Kathryn Liebold
Kathryn M. Liebold, 77, Dickey, N.D., died Thursday, June 8, 2000, at her home.
Kathryn Mary Grommesh was born Jan. 29, 1923, on the family farm in Alice, N.D., the daughter of George and Emma (Nelson) Grommesh. She grew up near Alice and attended Alice Township School. She married Charles Liebold Feb. 5, 1942, in Buffalo, N.D. They lived in North and South Dakota and Arizona. She worked at Anne Carlsen Center for Children and Wagon Masters Restaurant, both Jamestown. He died Dec. 14, 1982. In 1983 she moved to Dickey.
She is survived by five sons, Lawrence (Mildred), Dickey, Warren (Sarah), Yazoo City, Miss., Ralph (Karen), Edgeley, N.D., and Ronald (Gloria) and Thomas (Pat), both Jamestown; three daughters, Elizabeth (Cloyce) Outram, Blue Springs, Mo., Donna (John) Liebelt, Rapid City, S.D., and Barbara McGillivray, Jamestown; three brothers, James, Spokane, Wash., Herbert, Gridley, Calif., and Raymond, Frazee, Minn.; five sisters, Ruth Knoble, El Cajon, Calif., Edna Thompson, Taft, Calif., Elaine Schafer, Fresno, Calif., Dorothy McBride, Custer, S.D., and Janette Fiebelkorn, Frazee; 26 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and a brother, Michael.
Services: 1 p.m. Monday, June 12, Assumption Catholic Church, Dickey. Arrangements by Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.
Burial: Dickey Cemetery, Dickey.

Richard Nitschke
Richard Nitschke, 84, Mandan, N.D., died Sunday morning, Aug. 6, 2000, at St. Vincent's Care Center, Mandan.
Mr. Nitschke was born Feb. 22, 1916, on the family farm home near Jud, N.D., the son of Christian and Victoria (Stehr) Nitschke. He received his elementary education in the local rural school and grew up in the area. He entered the Civilian Conservation Corps and served in 1936. He returned home and worked on the family farm. He married Verla Withnell June 26, 1949, at Gackle, N.D. They lived in Jud. He farmed southeast of Judd until 1977, when he retired. They moved to Mandan in August of 1986. He was a member of the Jud United Church of Christ, where he was a deacon; the Jud Lions and Jamestown Eagles Club.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Cheryl (Dale) Schulz, Center, N.D., and JoWella (Rick) Bennett, Mandan; a stepson, Kent (Jan) Fregien, Redwing, Minn.; a brother, Rudolph, Jamestown; two sisters, Edna (Ervin) Kleingartner, Jud, and Loretta (Jack) Batsch, Jamestown; a niece they raised, Laurie Newton, Hebron, N.D.; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, four sisters, a grandson and two great-grandsons.
Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, Jud United Church of Christ, Jud, with the Rev. Jane Millikan officiating. Arrangements by Haut Funeral Homes, Jamestown.
Burial: United Church of Christ Cemetery, Jud.

Woodrow Lee
Woodrow W. Lee, 87, Jamestown, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at Central Dakota Village, Jamestown.
Mr. Lee was born March 18, 1913, near Adrian, N.D., the son of Lyman and Agnes (Knudson) Lee. He attended school in Russell Township and in Adrian. In 1935 he moved to The Dalles, Oregon, with his family. He married Gertrude Miller Oct. 12, 1935. In 1948 they moved back to a farm in LaMoure County, N.D., were he lived until 1974. She died Jan. 20, 1974. He married Mary (Clemens) Rieman June 22, 1974, in San Leandro, Calif. They spent their summers in Adrian, and their winters at their home in Black Canyon City, Ariz. She died Jan. 10, 1995. Since then he continued to spend his summers in North Dakota and his winters at Triangle Lake, Ore. He served on the Nortonville School Board for several years.
He is survived by three sons, Donald (Lily Mae), Montpelier, N.D., Marvin (Joan), Adrian, and Lawrence (Mary), Stacy, Minn.; five brothers, Clarence (Roberta), Dundee, Ore., Warren, Bend, Ore., Calvin (JoAnn), Salem, Ore., Myrnal, and Fernwood (Melinda), Seattle, Wash.; a sister, Elverda Mae Showve, Seattle; three sisters-in-law, Fern Lee, The Dalles, Edna, and Helen Miller, Jamestown; a brother-in-law, Delbert Nordquist; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; four sisters, Myrtle Lee, Marjorie Lee, LaVerne Keller and Myrna Lee; and six brothers, Agnew, Aldo, Harlan, Baby, Lynn and Dean.
Services: 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug 10, Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, with the Rev. Norman Winkelman officiating.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown.

Helen Todd
Helen M. Todd, 82, Jamestown, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home, Jamestown.
Helen Borg was born Oct. 10, 1917, in Valley City, N.D., the daughter of Henry and Amelia (Kjelland) Borg. She grew up near Sanborn, N.D., where she attended schools. She graduated from Sanborn High School. She worked on the family farm before moving to Jamestown in 1937. While living in Jamestown she worked for the North Dakota State Hospital in the housekeeping department. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and jig-saw puzzles.
She is survived by a son, Robert (Linda), Jamestown; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Todd, San Ramon, Calif.; a sister, Sophie Doyle, Valley City; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Ronald; and four brothers, Elmer, Bob, Ernest and Harold.
Services: 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, with the Rev. Bryce Tahran officiating. Arrangements by Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown.

Gary Nord
Gary A. Nord, 40, Downey, Calif., died July 28, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Nord was born June 21, 1960, at Bismarck, the son of Lloyd and Ruth (Jenner) Nord. He was 9 years old when the family moved from Kintyre, N.D., to Paramount, Calif. He attended and graduated from Paramount High School. He married Cynthia Hernandez Aug. 21, 1981. They lived in Downey. He worked for Northrop Grumman Aircraft for 16 years as a mechanic and supervisor before retiring. He was a sports fan, especially of the Minnesota Vikings and Twins.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Gary, Eric and Brian, all Downey; and a daughter, Tiffany, Downey; his parents, Paramount; two brothers, Kenny, Paramount, and Darrold, Glenwood, Iowa.
Graveside services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, Napoleon City Cemetery, Napoleon, with the Rev. Gary Heaton officiating. Arrangements by Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Napoleon.
Burial: Napoleon City Cemetery, Napoleon.

F. Duane Walen
F. Duane Walen, 70, Hamilton, Mont., formerly Glenfield, N.D., died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Walen was born May 10, 1930, in Glenfield, the son of Lars and Anna Walen. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Glenfield High School in 1948. He served in the USAF from 1950 to 1954. Following his discharge he returned to North Dakota and began his studies at the University of North Dakota. He married Mary Elizabeth Bowden Nov. 23, 1955, in Grand Forks, N.D. In 1957 he graduated with his bachelor's degree from UND. The family moved to Los Angeles, Calif., where he was an auditor for the Bank of America for two years, then an auditor for the City of Los Angeles. He later joined the Aerojet General Corp., where he worked for 27 years before his retirement as a financial manager. He received his master's degree from the Claremont (Calif.) Graduate School. They moved to Hamilton in 1990. She died Dec. 18, 1996. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Hamilton, and a member of the Masonic Lodge and Shrine.
He is survived by two sons, Mark, Fair Oaks, Calif., and Shawn, Hamilton; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, five brothers and two sisters.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, Glenfield Lutheran Church, Glenfield, with the Rev. Ray Branstiter officiating.
Burial: Glenfield Cemetery, Glenfield.

Brian Wentz
Brian Wentz, 34, Jamestown, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, in a Mandan, N.D. hospital.
Mr. Wentz was born Oct. 7, 1965, in Rugby, N.D., the son of Duane and Eva (Roerick) Wentz. He grew up in Harvey, and Lincoln, N.D., and graduated from Bismarck High School in 1984. He received a drafting degree from Wahpeton State School of Science. In 1987 he began working for Wedgcor, Jamestown. He enjoyed watching football, camping, fishing, bowling, snowmobiling and playing pool.
He is survived by his parents, Bismarck; two sisters, Wendy Wentz and Christy Wentz, both Bismarck; two brothers, Kerry and Shane, both Bismarck; and a grandmother, Frances Wentz, Bismarck.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe Wentz and Peter and Katherine Roerick.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, Church of St. Anne, Bismarck, with the Rev. Marvin Klemmer officiating. Arrangements by Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck.
Burial: St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck.
