BOWMAN -- Clara Egeland, 98, Bowman, died Feb. 28, 2000, in the Bowman care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Friday at Bethany Lutheran Church, Rhame, with burial the church cemetery.
She is survived by two daughters, Helen Maciejewski, Fountain Valley, Calif., and Marion Brewer, Bowman; two daughters, Thelma Kulseth, Bowman, and Doris Egeland, Rhame; one sister, Arlette Jeffers, Rhame; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. LEMMON, S.D. -- Arthur J. Frisvold, 88, Lemmon, died Feb. 27, 2000, in the Hettinger hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. MST Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mott. Further arrangements are pending at Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Mott.

Roman Hanenberg
DRAKE -- Roman Hanenberg, 86, Drake, died Feb. 28, 2000, in a Garrison nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Drake, with burial in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille; one son, Noel, Drake; one daughter, Joy Halbert, Vancouver, Wash.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Sadith Bakken, Minot, and Ethel Roe, Burlington. (Bethke-Nelson Funeral Home, Drake)

Lilace Heisler
Lilace M. Heisler, 80, Beulah,died Feb. 27, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held a t10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Esmond, with burial in the church cemetery.
She is survived by two daughters, Dianne White, Las Vegas, and Gale Cacioppo, Fitchburg, Md.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Gerald Brown, Victorville, Calif., Raymond Brown, Cass Lake, Minn., and Reuben Brown, Esmond; and three sisters, Helen Brady, Marysville, Wash., Arlene Hoffner, Esmond, and Donna Bedford, Phoenix. Annette Herzog
Annette Herzog, 92, Bismarck, died Feb. 28, 2000, in a Bismarck care center. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Vincent's Care Center, Bismarck, with the Rev. John O'Leary officiating.
Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Service, and will continue at the care center one hour before services. A rosary will be said at 8 tonight at Eastgate Funeral Service.
Annette was born May 25, 1907, at Elm Point. She married Conrad Herzog and farmed and taught school in the Concrete area. After her husband's death, she resided in Bismarck.
She is survived by three sons, Robert, Oceanside, Calif., J. Cameron, Plantation Acres, Fla., and Aaron, Blaine, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Conrad; her parents, Napoleon and Helen Tetrault; and three brothers.
She was loved and will be missed by all.

Stella Kendall
MOFFIT -- Stella M. Kendall, 88, Bismarck, and formerly of Moffit, died Feb. 24, 2000, at her home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Bismarck Funeral Home, with the Rev. Duey Heid officiating. Burial will be in Moffit Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. today at Bismarck Funeral Home, and for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Stella was born in Dell Rapids, S.D., on Dec. 12, 1911. At the age of 4, her father passed away and at the age of 7, her mother, two sisters and one brother moved to Moffit. They lived with her grandfather, Andrew Thompson, on a farm southwest of Moffit, later moving into Moffit. As a young girl, Stella worked for several farmers, helping with the cooking at harvesting time.
On Jan. 7, 1933, she married Allen (Babe) Kendall in Bis-marck. Stella belonged to the Moffit Mothers Club for several years. They lived in Moffit until Babe's retirement in 1966, when they moved to Bismarck. They spent the next few winters in Seattle with their son and daughter. They moved into Community Homes (Washington Court) in 1972, and Stella lived there for 25 years. She then moved to an apartment on Divide Avenue to be close to her son, Roger, who at the time had cancer.
Stella loved crocheting and made quilts and afghans for all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was loved very much and will be missed very much by her family. She is survived by one son and two daughters-in-law, Edward and Margaret Kendall, Minot, and Darlene Kendall, Bismarck; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Margie Nieland, Bismarck, Verlyn and Melvin Bauer, Mandan, and Verna and Dwain Payne, Moreland, Idaho; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two special friends, Helen Sicbel and Ella Bertsch. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Allen (Babe) Kendall; one son, Roger Kendall; two sons-in-law, Roger Nieland and James Freir; one great-granddaughter, Bailey; two brothers; and three sisters.

Roland Krueger
DRAKE -- Roland Krueger, 89, Coeur d' Alene, Idaho, died Feb. 25, 2000, in his home. Services will be held at a later date.
He is survived by two sons, Wesley, Coeur d' Alene, and Merrill, Rolette; one daughter, Darlene Stair, Hanover, Pa.; one brother, Leland, Minot; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. (Bethke-Nelson Funeral Home, Drake)

Irene Luchsinger
DICKINSON -- Irene M. Luchsinger, 79, Dickinson, died Feb. 28, 2000, in her home. Arrangements are pending at Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Mott.

Rolland Scherer
BEULAH -- Rolland M. Scherer, 67, Beulah, died peacefully at his home, Feb. 27, 2000. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Thursday at Concordia Lutheran Church, Beulah, with the Rev. Toby Heller officiating. Burial will be in Hazen City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah.
Rolland Marvin Scherer was born Sept. 2, 1932, south of Hazen, a son of Henry and Christina (Liebelt) Scherer. He attended grade school at the Red Butte country school and Hazen High School. He was confirmed on May 16, 1948. On Aug. 12, 1950, he married Lorraine Schuh at Hazen. They moved to Beulah where he worked at Liebelt Chevrolet. In 1952, he started working for the MDU power plant in Beulah, and in 1978, transferred to the Coyote Station. Rolland retired from MDU in 1995, after 43 years of shift work.
He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church for 48 years, where he served as youth leader for eight years. In his spare time he liked to tinker inhis garage, refinishing furniture and fixing toys. Rolland enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. Rolland also enjoyed the company of his special buddy, Kelly the cat.
Blessed to have shared his life are his wife, Lorraine; six children and their spouses, Connie and Gerald Bieber, Beulah, Brian and Lois Scherer, Beulah, Aloha and Richard Simenson, Zap, Dana and Mary Scherer, Bath, Mich., Earl and Laura Scherer, Bismarck, and Faron and Debbie Scherer, Beulah; two sisters, Irene Bornemann, Bismarck, and Louise Christian, New Salem; one brother, Allen Scherer, Sun City, Ariz.; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Rolland was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leonard and Raymond; and one sister, Esther.

Dylan Sims
WASHBURN -- Dylan Michael Sims, the infant son of Larry A. Sims and Tamara S. Franklyn, Washburn, died Feb. 27, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Sunne Lutheran Church, Wilton, with burial in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his parents; his sister, Nicole Sims, and twin sister and brother, Alyssa and Drew Sims, all of Washburn; his grandparents, Billy and June Sims, Washburn, John Franklyn, Ontario, Calif., and JoNell Zaiontz, San Antonio, Texas; and his great-grandparents. Marian Stevens
UNDERWOOD -- Marian E. Stevens, 81, rural Underwood, died Feb. 28, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church, Washburn, with the Rev. Bradley Brauer officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Washburn. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. today at Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn, and will continue at the church one hour before services.
Marian Elaine Burgum was born Aug. 3, 1918, at Washburn, to Gordon and Olga (Schur) Burgum. She grew up in Washburn where she graduated from high school in 1936. She attended North Dakota State University at Fargo and received her degree in home economics. She taught school at Pembina for three years and then became an assistant dietitian at the Bismarck Hospital. She married Kenyon Stevens on Sept. 30, 1945, at Washburn. They made their home on his farm northwest of Washburn where they farmed. Kenyon died Oct. 21, 1984. Marian continued to make her home on the farm.
She was a 50-year member of the Washburn Study Club and a member of the First Lutheran Church Women.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Jim Stoppler, Washburn; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Edith and Ray Sheldon, and Margaret Plasterer, all of Washburn; five grandchildren, Shane Stevens, Garth Stevens, Marc Bender, Stephanie Bender and Kimberly VonBank; and five great-grandchildren, Jerika VonBank, Jada VonBank, Doug Stevens, Shane Stevens and Halea Stevens.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenyon; one son, Ronald; two brothers, John and James Burgum; and one brother-in-law, Chet Plasterer.

Minnie Wenzler
Minnie Agnes Wenzler, 85, 1007 Pioneer Trail, Mandan, died Feb. 28, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery, rural Mandan. Further arrangements are pending at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan.

Esther Bartram
WILLISTON -- Esther Bartram, 86, Williston, died March 19, 2000, in the Williston nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Church of the Nazarene, Williston. Further arrangements are pending at Everson Funeral Home, Williston.

Frank C. Beatty
NEW ROCKFORD -- Frank C. Beatty, 85, Minot, died March 19, 2000, in a Minot nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church, New Rockford, with burial in Prairie Home Cemetery, New Rockford. He is survived by one son, Lester, Apple Valley, Minn.; two daughters, Jeanette Christ, Burlington, and Connie Bauer, Hazen; three sisters, Frances Mehlhoff, Fargo, Violet Corliss, Seattle, and Tillie Fifield, Greenacres, Wash.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Ottilia Bender
Ottilia Bender, 85, The Terrace, formerly of Mandan, died March 19, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 3 p.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. John Kuhn officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. today at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan. Ottilia Berger was born April 21, 1914, in Morton County, to Nick and Rose (Wetsch) Berger. She was raised and educated in Morton County. She married Adam Bender, Jan. 25, 1932, in St. Anthony. They farmed in the St. Anthony area for 20 years. She then moved to Mandan, where she cleaned homes for 30 years. She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jack and Eva, MInot, Andy, Billings, Mont., Leonard, Mandan, and Ann Bender, Mandan; one daughter and son-in-law, Gerry and Harry Kline, Mandan; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Adam, Napa, Calif.; and two sisters, Clara Zander, Vallejo, Calif., and Betty Weinhandl, Mandan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Adam, who died in 1964; her parents; one son, Albert; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Frank, Henry and Joe; and two sisters, Katherine and Rose.

Harold Chadwick
WATFORD CITY -- Harold Chadwick, 47, Watford City, died March 18, 2000, in a Rochester, Minn. hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Watford City High School, with burial in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan. He is survived by his wife, Sandie; one son, Erik, Mayville; two daughters, Tarri Chapin, Ruthville, and Crystal Houser, Watford City; his mother, Adeline Chadwick, Fargo; two brothers, Rhinney and Charlie, both of Fargo; and three grandchildren. Lee A. Christoferson
FARGO -- Dr. Lee A. Christoferson, Sr., 78, Fargo, died March 19, 2000, at Waterford at Harwood Grove, Fargo. Dr. Christoferson was born on June 9, 1921, in Bemidji, MN. His grandparents were Norwegian immigrant farmers who came to the United States in the 1880's. His parents, Christian Alfred and Mrytle, were killed in an automobile accident when he was 15. He graduated from Bemidji High School and was a member of the National Honor Society. He graduated from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, with a Bachelor of Science degree in June, 1943. He married Nancy Jean Nelson of Williston, in1943. He graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School in June of 1945. He joined the U.S. Army and was assigned to the Neurosurgical Service, Medical Corps, U.S. Army, Walter Reed Hospital Washington, D.C. as chief of reconditioning service from 1945-1947. After being honorably discharged from the Army he completed a surgical internship at Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, Ohio, and a fellowship in neurosurgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., receiving a Master of Science in neurosurgery in 1951. He was admitted to the Honorary Society, Sigma XI, in 1951. He held medical licensure in North Dakota and Minnesota and was certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery in April of 1955. He and his wife, Nancy, moved to Fargo in 1951 where he pioneered the practice of neurosurgery between Minneapolis and Seattle. He then recruited physicians in the neurosciences and they formed the Neurologic Associates. He was the visionary and a founding member of The Neuropsychiatric Institute, 700 First Avenue South, Fargo, established in 1955 as a non-profit membership corporation with the objective of providing facilities, services, education and research for the medical specialties of neurology, neurosurgery, and psychiatry. In addition, he was a clinical instructor in neurosurgery, professor of neurology and neurosurgery, and chairman of the Department of Neuroscience at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine, Grand Forks, and continued for years to teach and support the on-going development of medical education in the state of North Dakota. He practiced Neurosurgery for 35 years. He served as a member of the Board of Directors - Fargo National Bank; chairman of the North Dakota Branch of American College of Surgeons; was a member of the Advisory Committee to the Joint Committee for Stroke Facilities, Washington, D.C.; chairman of the Committee for the Development of North Dakota Regional Medical Program; appointed by President Ronald Reagan to the President's Committee on Mental Retardation, and served as examiner for the American Board of Neurological Surgery. He was a member of the Founding Board of Directors, North Central Educational Television (now Prairie Public Broadcasting); American Association of Neurological Surgeons (formerly Harvey Cushing Society), The Society of Neurological Surgeons; The Neurosurgical Society of America Congress of Neurological Surgeons; Board of Trustees, St. Luke's Hospital; Advisory Council, North Dakota Crippled Children's Services. He received several distinguished service awards including: the Professor Ignacio Barraques Award for contributions to medicine and surgery through cinematography; recipient of Cosmopolitan Distinguished Service Award; recipient of Outstanding Business Leader Award; recipient of Book of Golden Deeds Award from the Exchange Club, Fargo; recipient of "North Dakota's 1977 Physician Award" from the State of North Dakota; and the Governor's Committee on Employment of the Handicapped in Recognition of Outstanding Accomplishments and Service to the Handicapped; and Recipient of North Dakota State Medical Association Award for Outstanding Medical and Community Service. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy Nelson of Fargo; six children and their spouses: Karen Jo and Bob Hampton, Tyler, Texas; Lee Allen Jr. and Jane, Fargo; N. Eric, Fargo; Jean Ann and Tom Mitchell, Topanga Canyon, Calif.; Joel and Yvonne Ward, Litchville, NancyLee and Brad Loftsgard, Pelican Rapids, Minn. and Fort Ransom; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his brother, Dr. Kent William Christoferson, Eugene, Ore. In lieu of flowers or other considerations the family requests donations be made to the North Dakota State University Development Foundation, P.O. Box 5144, Fargo, N.D. 58105, to establish a scholarship in his name or to Hospice of the Red River Valley, 702 28th Ave. N., Fargo, N.D. 58102. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home. There will not be a memorial service. A private burial service will be held at the family burial site, Standing Rock Cemetery, Fort Ransom.
