Sharon Linderman Depew, 62, Littleton, Colo., formerly of Carrington, died March 12, 2001, in Moorhead, Minn. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington.

Helen Iszler
Helen Iszler (Mrs. Rev. Otto Iszler), 87, Surprise, Az., died March 12, 2001. Services will be held at 10:30 MST Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, New Leipzig. Lunch will be served following services.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Immanuel Lutheran Church, New Leipzig.

Acquilinus Koch
Acquilinus X. Koch, 80, died March 9, 2001, in Gilbert, Ariz. Services will be held at 11 a.m. PST Friday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Mesa, Ariz.

Martha Krehlik
DICKINSON -- Martha Krehlik, 74, Dickinson, died March 12, 2001, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MST Friday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson. Further arrangements are pending with Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson.

Thomas Paulsrud
BEULAH -- Thomas Paulsrud, 62, Beulah, died March 12, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. MST Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah, with the Revs. John Fanella and Kris Nyman officiating. Burial will be in the city cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. MST today at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah.

Thomas Alan Paulsrud was born July 12, 1938, at Binford, a son of John and Myrtle (Bakken) Paulsrud. He was raised and educated there, graduating from Binford High School in 1956. Following graduation, he attended Valley City State College, receiving his degree in teaching. On Aug. 1, 1959, Tom married Nancy Richardson at Grace Methodist Church, Moorhead, Minn.

Tom taught in New Salem for five years and then moved to Beulah where he taught math and English until retiring in 1994. He served as the principal at the middle school for 16 years and coached junior high boys basketball and varsity girls basketball for a time. Tom ran the clock at football and basketball games for 34 years and his dream was to work a state tournament.

Tom enjoyed hunting geese with Leon and the Crary bunch as well as fishing with Dick Sorenson. Tom also loved camping with his family and cherished his grandchildren.

Tom was a member of Beulah Congregational Church, where he served as secretary-treasurer for many years. He was also a member of Beulah Eagles Club, where he served as treasurer, and a member of North Dakota Teachers Retirement Association.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Nancy; one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Kathi, Jamestown; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Keith Stiefel, Beulah; four grandchildren, Kordell and Katelynn Stiefel, Beulah, and Kari and Daniel Paulsrud, Jamestown; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Carolyn and Leon Gilbraith, Crary, and Marjorie Paulsrud, Devils Lake; and one sister-in-law, Lucialle Paulsrud, Menahga, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Duane; and an infant brother.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Sakakawea Hospice, Hazen.

Stewart Peterson
Stewart W. Peterson, 81, Kingman, Ariz., died March 8, 2001, in Phoenix, Ariz. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MST Saturday at Daglum Lutheran Church, Daglum. Further arrangements are pending with Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson.

Noel Ruderman
Noel S. Ruderman, 67, Bismarck, died March 13, 2001, in a local hospital. Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, Bismarck, with the Rev. Thomas E. Kramer officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck, with military rites by VFW Post 1326.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, where a rosary will be held at 8 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Noel was born April 26, 1933, in Los Angeles, Calif., the son of Mark and Harriet (Seidner) Ruderman. As an infant, the family moved to Chicago, where Noel grew up and attended school. He served as a lifeguard for the Chicago Park District all through high school. He attended the University of Illinois at Navy Pier.

In 1952 Noel enlisted in the U.S. Navy. During his tour of duty, he married Doloris Dodge aboard the U.S.S. Coral Sea Jan. 11, 1954.

Following Noel's discharge, he embarked upon a lifetime career in the insurance business as an administrator, manager and salesman. He accepted a position with Banker's Life and Casualty and relocated to Bismarck in February 1993. Subsequently, he founded the Noel Ruderman Agency, which specialized in long-term care insurance. He was a great service to many Bismarck and Mandan residents.

Noel was an active member of Cathedral of the Holy Spirit and the VFW. He enjoyed playing golf and backgammon. He was a patron of Dakota Stage and a supporter of Bismarck Symphony.

He is survived by his wife, Doloris; two sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher and Teresa, Eugene, Ore., and Adam and Kristi, Decatur, Ill.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tracy and Robert Wells, Grand Junction, Colo., and Jennifer and Michael Darts, Dothan, Ala.; six grandchildren, Nicholas Darts, Adam C. Ruderman, Ashley Ruderman, Glen Ruderman, Jeremy C. Ruderman and Kaylie Ruderman; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Tom and Julia and Robin, all of Los Angeles, and Laurel Blanch, Minnetonka, Minn.; and his mother-in-law, Lucille Dodge, Edina, Minn.

He was preceded in death by one son, Jeremy I. Ruderman; and his parents.

W. Rodney Slagg
W. Rodney Slagg, 80, Montgomery City, Mo., died March 12, 2001, in New Florence, Mo. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church, Washburn. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Washburn.

He is survived by two sons, David, Rio Rico, Az., and James, Montgomery City, Mo.; one daughter, Nancy Slagg, Beijing, China; five grandchildren; one brother, Maynard, Spokane, Wash.; and two sisters, Elinore Slagg, Columbia City, Ind., and Martha Oechsle, Fort Wayne, Ind. Ellen Washburn
Ellen Washburn, 82, Mandan, joined her heavenly Father March 11, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at Mandan Methodist Church, 610 12th St. N.W., with the Rev. Mark Phillips officiating. Burial will be in the spring in Rolla Community Cemetery.

Ellen was born Jan. 30, 1919, in Williams, Minn., to Martin and Jenny (Bridges) Bergan. She graduated from Williams High School. Following her father's wishes, she graduated from St. Luke's Nursing School in Grand Forks. Upon her graduation, she married George Washburn on Sept. 1, 1943. She helped fill the need for stateside nurses during World War II at a tuberculosis sanitarium. After her husband returned from military duty, they lived in Jamestown and Mayville as he completed his college degree. They made their home in Finley for many years. They also lived in Minnesota, Rolla, Forsyth, Mont., Greeley, Colo., and Mandan. They spent many winters in Florida and Arizona.

Church and family activities were central parts in Ellen's life. She was active in the United Methodist Church where she sought to study and learn God's word. She was always willing to use her nursing skills to help others in need. In addition, gardening, especially flowers, was a hobby of hers. She shared her garden produce and flowers with neighbors and friends. In her later years she developed an interest in painting, providing the family with cherished keepsakes.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her three daughters, Ruth Huovinen, Mandan, Ruby and Brian Lawler, Rolla, and Mary Ellen Washburn, Broadus, Mont.; five grandchildren, Michael and Suzi Huovinen, Hudson, Wis., Andrew Huovinen, Grand Forks, Tammi Lawler, Fargo, Monica Lawler, Jamestown, and Curtis Harris, Greeley, Colo.; a brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Wilma Bergan, Loveland, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews. She is also loved by close friends, the Richard Larson family, including Richard, Bismarck, Monte and Denise Larson, Bismarck, Dewey Larson, Bismarck, Byron Larson and Deb Gordon, Seattle, Lilly Purrier, Tempe, Ariz., Nancy Razo, Cottonwood, Ariz., Anita Larson, Ashland, Ore., and Paula Patton, Denver.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George; her daughter, Jane; her parents; one sister, Elsie Lawin; and three brothers, Earl, Albert and Glen.

Lawrence Abel
MINOT -- Lawrence A. Abel, 84, Minot, died March 12, 2001, in his home of natural causes. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot, with burial in Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; two sons, Larry, Auburndale, Fla., and Jim, Minot; three daughters, Yvonne Abel, Cleveland, Ohio, Karen Borstad, Bismarck, and Jane Abel, Burlington; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Carline Young, Rugby, and Mary Cornett, Waterford, Mich. Elwyn Bearce
TRENTON -- Elwyn Bearce, 75, Trenton, died March 14, 2001, in the Williston hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Williston, with burial in TrentonCemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; three daughters, Bonny Fredericksen, Colstrip, Mont., Nancy Gysler, Riverside, Calif., and Mary Moran, Buford; three son, Ted, Williston, Dan, Buford, and Mark, Williston; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Anderson and Carolyn Anderson, both of Williston, and Edith Joyce, Tioga; and his brother, Robert, Trenton. Buell Bigelow
CENTER -- Buell N. Bigelow, 51, Center, died March 12, 2001, in his home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, with the Rev. Dwight Duke officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Center Cemetery, followed by fellowship and lunch at 4 p.m. at the Golden Age Club.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, and will continue after 9 a.m. Saturday.

Buell Norman was born Jan. 7, 1950, in Bismarck, the son of Ralph and Ruby (Tye) Bigelow. He was raised and educated in Center, graduating from Center High School in 1968. He received his degree in engineering from Pennsylvania State University. He worked primarily in Colorado where he was a fire protection engineer. He moved to Center in 2000.

He loved to hunt and camp. He was a member of the B.A.D. racing team in Denver, the NRA and the Sprinkler Fitters Union.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jodi and Troy Gregg, Denver; two sons, Jeremiah and Benjamin, both of Denver; two grandchildren, Brianna and Bradley Gregg; his mother, Ruby Begelow, Center; two sisters, Ellen Leinius, Center, and Marcia Bigelow, Minneapolis; one brother and sister-in-law, Kurt and Nancy, Fergus Falls, Minn.; and his special friend, Barb Fleming, Center.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph.

Marie Dunn
WIBAUX, Mont. -- Marie Stanchfield Dunn, 91, Wibaux, died March 12, 2001, in a Billings hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Saturday at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Wibaux.

She is survived by her son, Cliff, Billings; her daughters, Phyllis Nistler, Billings, Delores Helm, Billings, and Diane Watembach, Wibaux; 22 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. (Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home, Beach)

The Rev. Gerald Dutton
The Rev. Gerald B. Dutton, 87, Skagit Valley, Wash., formerly of Huff, died Feb. 26, 2001, in the Skagit Valley hospital. Services were held March 1 at View Crest Assembly of God Church, Mount Vernon, Wash., withburial in Fir-Conway Lutheran Cemetery, Conway.

He is survived by his wife, Selma; three daughters, Sharon Dan, Camas, Wash., Gladys Homchick, Burlington, and Nancy Dutton, Burlington; three sons, Merwyn, Mount Vernon, Dr. Rod, Grass Valley, Calif., and David, Mount Vernon; two sisters, Alice McCay, Lynden, Wash., and Mildred Thompson, Marysville; two brothers, Chester, Mount Vernon, and Lee, Vale, S.D.; and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Janice Felch
Janice A. Felch, 56, Bismarck, died March 12, 2001, in her home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Eastgate Funeral Service, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck.

She is survived by one son, Keith, Casper, Wyo.; three daughters, Kris Felch, Pekin, Ill., Kelly Felch, Washburn, and Kara Felch, Bismarck; six grandchildren; one sister, Phyllis Bertsch, Devils Lake; and one brother, Bill Winnegge, Devils Lake.

Gerald Felton
Gerald Owen Felton, a resident of Hayward, California, passed away on Feb. 11, 2001, at his residence. He was born January 2, 1934, in Wing, to Arlie and Esther (Bates) Felton. In 1952, he graduated from Dakota Lutheran High School in Minot. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, and served in Korea from 1953 to 1956. He graduated from the

University of North Dakota in 1959 with a B.A. in English. He moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1959, and lived in San Francisco for many years. He worked for the Alameda County Sheriff's Department, from which he retired in 1999. In 1999, his mother, Esther Felton, moved from Texas to live with Gerald. He took loving care of her until her death in 2000.

A lifelong reader, Gerald also had a love of music and the theater, as well as an avid interest in politics. He became a second, devoted father to his nieces Cindy Felton of Oakland and Marsha Rodriguez of Modesto after the death of their father, Stanley Felton, in 1980, and a very special uncle to their children Stacey, Tony, and Laura and their husbands Jerry and Bob.

He is survived by three brothers and sisters-in-law, Duane and Doris Felton, Byron, Calif., Ron and JoAnn Felton, Granbury, Texas, and Allen Felton, Grand Prairie, Texas; his cousin, Thomasine Smith, Burlingame, Calif.; close friend

Frank Winegar, Burlingame; his aunt, Alice Peterson, San Leandro, Calif.; many loving cousins, nephews, and nieces; and dear friends.

He requested that no formal memorial service be held. As he wished, a cottonwood tree will be planted in his memory in his home town of Wing.

Memorial contributions can be made to Hope Hospice in Dublin, Calif. or Mid-Penninsula Hospice in San Francisco or your favorite charity.

Gerald was a kind and thoughtful man who was devoted to his family, and will be remembered for his sense of humor, generosity, and interest in the world.
