Ervin Heinle
MOTT -- Ervin P. Heinle, 77, Mott, died March 18, 2001, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Zoar Congregational Church, Mott. Burial will be in Sunnyslope Cemetery.

He is survived by one daughter, Patricia Kindt, Mott; two grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, Gerhardt Heinle, Burt; and one sister, Clara Jean Staninger, Beaverton, Ore. (Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Mott)

Kathryn Kary
DICKINSON -- Kathryn Kary, 76, Dickinson, died March 19, 2001, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Thursday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Dickinson. Further arrangements are pending with Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson.

Caroline Koenig
Caroline A. Koenig, 74, 507 9th Ave. S.W., Mandan, died March 17, 2001, at her home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with the Rev. Cyprian Meier officiating. Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Sunnyslope Cemetery, Mott.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Weigel Funeral Home.

Caroline Ruff was born April 22, 1926, to Wilhelm and Katherine (Luithle) Ruff in Hettinger County. She was raised in the Willa area near Mott.

In 1942 Caroline married Albert Hummel. She worked as a housekeeper for the Al and Cele Motel and various homes around Mott. Albert Hummel died in 1962. In 1964 Caroline moved to Bismarck, where she also worked as a housekeeper in motels, until 1970 when she married Fred Koenig. They resided in Mandan but enjoyed spending their winters in Texas. Caroline and Fred enjoyed fishing and traveling. Fred Koenig died in 1990.

Caroline resided in Mandan, where she enjoyed crocheting, canning, cooking and baking. She especially enjoyed music and playing the accordion.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her son and daughter-in-law, Lonnie and Janice Hummel, Mott; five grandchildren, Rhonda (Glen) Brownlee, Clinton, Mont., Robin (David) Wirth, New Richmond, Wisc., and Roxanne (Marcel) Stolp, Ruby (Kent) Hawthorne and Rodney Greff, all of Missoula, Mont.; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Albert Hummel and Fred Koenig; one daughter, Donna Mae Greff; her parents; five brothers; and three sisters.

Loretta Kolar
DICKINSON -- Loretta Kolar, 55, Dickinson, died March 17, 2001, at her home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MST today at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Dickinson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Ken; two sons, Kevin, Holland, Mich., and Keith, Casper, Wyo.; four grandchildren; her mother, Anna Wax, Dickinson; two brothers, Roger Hendricks, Gillette, Wyo., and Martin Hendricks, Elkhardt, Kan.; and one sister, Beverly Olson, Sheyenne. August Lutz
August Lutz, 95, Bismarck, died March 18, 2001, in a local hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Calvary United Methodist Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Jim Cissell officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, and one hour prior to services at the church.

August Lutz was born in Russia Jan. 28, 1906. He immigrated with his family to Mercer in October 1922. On Dec. 31, 1929, he married Lydia Rath. They farmed in the Goodrich area until their retirement in 1994. They have lived in Bismarck since that time.

August was a member of the Senior Center, a hospital volunteer and drove for Meals on Wheels. He was a member of Calvary Methodist Church.

He is survived by three daughters and one son-in-law, Frances Lutz, Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Gert Stolz, Bismarck, and Arlys and Reis Hall, Bemidji, Minn.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Lydia; one son; one daughter; one granddaughter; and two sisters.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the American Red Cross, Bismarck Edgewood Vista or the donor's favorite charity.

Marquerite Maddock
Marquerite F. Maddock, 86, Bismarck, formerly of Mandan, died March 18, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan. Further arrangements are pending with Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan.

Elizabeth Marquart
ESMOND -- Elizabeth Marquart, 85, Esmond, died March 18, 2001, in a Rugby medical center. Arrangements are pending with Nelson Funeral Home, Esmond.

Mary Ann Moberg
MCGREGOR -- Mary Ann Moberg, 62, McGregor, died March 16, 2001, in a Minot medical center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church, Tioga. Burial will be in Battleview Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Arlo; two daughters, Cathy Moberg, Gresham, Ore., and Sandra McCloud, Omaha, Neb.; one son, Kevin, East Grand Forks, Minn.; four grandchildren; three brothers, Herman Roloff, Minot, Curtis Roloff, Tioga, and Lawrence Roloff, McGregor; and three sisters, Marcella Olson, Kennewick, Wash., Adeline Kihle, Wichita, Kan., and Lucille Anderson, Williston. Gertha Pfennig
Gertha Pfennig, 78, Bismarck, died March 19, 2001, in a Bismarck care center. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Faith Lutheran Church, Bismarck. Further arrangements are pending with Bismarck Funeral Home.

Marion Pulver
Marion G. Pulver, 105, Bismarck, formerly of Dickinson, died March 18, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MST Thursday at Dickinson United Methodist Church. Further arrangements are pending with Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson.

Adolph Schaeffer
MCCLUSKY -- Adolph Schaeffer, 84, McClusky, died March 18, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending with Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky.

Russell Sabot
BALDWIN -- Russell E. Sabot, 76, Baldwin, died March 17, 2001, at his home. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Church of St. Anne, Bismarck, with the Rev. Edwin Wehner officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.

Visitation will be held from noon to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, where a rosary and vigil will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Russell was born June 3, 1924, north of Bismarck, the son of Emil and Frances Sabot. He was raised and educated in the Bismarck area. He served in the U.S. Navy from Dec. 22, 1943, to June 4, 1946. He served in the Atlantic and Pacific theatres on the U.S.S. Wainwright.

Russell married Eunice Turnbow June 28, 1948, in Bismarck. He farmed in the Baldwin area for many years. He also worked in the ASC office, Farmers Union and Federal Crop Insurance before retiring.

Russell enjoyed his grandchildren, fishing, hunting, traveling and gardening.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Eunice; his four daughters and their families, Renee Walery and her husband Steve, Bismarck; Deb Matzke and her husband Rick, Bismarck, and their two sons, and one daughter-in-law and friend, Doug and Shannon Matzke, Denton, Texas, and Jonathon Matzke and Maria, Minneapolis, Minn.; Robyn Schafer and her husband Mike, Bismarck, and their three daughters, Andrea and Jeremy Feldman, Bismarck, and Becky and Heather Schafer, Dickinson; and Cheryl Bechtle and her husband John and their two children Emily and Josh, all of Bismarck.

He is also survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Pat Sabot, Washburn, and Donald and Eileen Sabot, Bismarck; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Lavern and Ted Weber, Seattle, Wash., Beva Jean Hoffman, Bismarck, and Patty and Ed Backer, Mandan; one brother-in-law, Harold Mowder, Menahga, Minn.; special friends, Darrell and Sandy Baisch, Bismarck, and their two children, Krista Artis and her husband Joe and their two children Jordon and Jake, and Jeff Baisch, Salt Lake City, Utah; and special neighbor and caregiver, Gerry Ann Small and her husband Gary, Baldwin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Frances Sabot; two sisters, Gladys Fox and Doris Mowder; two brothers, Virgil and Darrell Sabot; and one stepgrandson, Brent Schafer.

Boris Spelevoy
DUNN CENTER -- Services for Boris Spelevoy, 84, Dunn Center, will be held at 1 p.m. today at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson, with the Rev. Aanen Gjovik officiating. Burial will follow in Killdeer Cemetery with military rites provided by Ezra Barrows Post No. 46.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel.

Elsie Stumvoll
GARRISON -- Elsie Stumvoll, 86, Garrison, formerly of Coleharbor, died March 16, 2001, at her home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Garrison. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary Ann Brundage, Lake Oswego, Ore.; one son, Eugene, Billings, Mont.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four sisters; and three brothers. (Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison)

Kevin Weiler
DICKINSON -- Kevin Weiler, 53, Dickinson, died March 18, 2001, due to a snowmobile accident in the Black Hills of S.D. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Friday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson. Further arrangements are pending with Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson.

Andrew Bender
Andrew A. Bender, 66, Billings, Mont., died March 20, 2001, in a Billings hospital due to heart complications. Cremation has taken place. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. MST Friday at Dawson County Cemetery, Glendive, Mont.

Andrew was born March 8, 1935, in Morton County, to Adam and Otillia Bender. He was raised and educated in St. Anthony. He was united in marriage to Irene Degenstein June 14, 1955, in the Catholic Cathedral in Bismarck. Born to this union were three sons and two daughters.

Andrew worked construction in North Dakota until the family moved to Glendive in 1966. He owned and operated the Derrick Motel and later built the Rustic Inn. He owned several motels through the years with the last one being the Super 8 in Wibaux, Mont. After his retirement he moved to Billings, where he resided at the time of his death.

During his lifetime, Andrew found enjoyment in ranching, fishing, traveling, cooking and being with family and friends.

He is survived by three sons, Lynn (Linda) Bender, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Jim and Jay Bender, both of Glendive; one daughter, Kim (Dean) George, Worland, Wyo.; five grandchildren; one sister, Gerry Kline, Mandan; one brother, Jack Bender, Burlington; numerous nieces and nephews; and his special friend, Virginia Hoovestal, Billings.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Melody; one grandchild; his parents; and two brothers.
