Gary Morrison
FARGO -- Gary R. Morrison, 54, Fargo, formerly of Cavalier, died March 18, 2001, in a Fargo hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at United Lutheran Church, Cavalier. Burial will be in Vidalin Cemetery, Hensel.

He is survived by his wife, Denise; three daughters, Chandra Morrison, Apple Valley, Minn., Cheryl Morrison, Grand Forks, and Cadence Morrison, Mayville; his mother, Emily Morrison, Cavalier; one brother, Alfred, Killdeer, Minn.; and one sister, Connie Trenbeath, Cavalier. Charles Rokusek
ELGIN -- Charles Rokusek, 88, Elgin, died March 19, 2001, in an Elgin care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Friday at Hope Conservative Congregational Church, Elgin. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Frieda; three sons, Jerry, Mott, Larry, BIsmarck, and Perry, Elgin; one daughter, Florence McAfee, White Sulfur Springs, Mont.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mabel Fuchs and Rose Haberstroh, both of Elgin. Gladys Sand
VALLEY CITY -- Gladys Sand, 90, Valley City, formerly of McClusky, died March 20, 2001, in a Valley City care center. Gravesides services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at West Scandia Cemetery, rural McClusky.

Visitation will not be held, but friends may sign the register book from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky.

Gladys Sand was born Sept. 17, 1910, on the family farm near Skogmo. She was the daughter of Reinhardt and Bertha (Warberg) Sand. She grew up and attended rural school in the Skogmo area north of McClusky. Gladys lived on the family farm with her parents and assisted with the farming operation.

In the early 1960s Gladys moved to Valley City and was a nurses' assistant at Mercy Hospital in Valley City for 25 years. Gladys retired in 1987 and entered Sheyenne River Care Center in Valley City.

She is survived by her sister, Ruth Sand, Escondido, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Roy Sand; and three sisters, Myrtle Gutgesell, Avis Scafidi and Inez Potter.

Adolph Schaeffer
MCCLUSKY -- Adolph P. Schaeffer, 84, McClusky, died March 18, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at McClusky Baptist Church. Burial will be in the city cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky.

Adolph Paul Schaeffer was born Nov. 27, 1916, south of McClusky in Johns Lake Township. He was the son of August and Elizabeth (Morlock) Schaeffer. Adolph attended rural school and the McClusky public school. As a young man he worked for 10 years as a farm laborer.

Adolph married Olinda Braunberger June 3, 1939, in McClusky. They moved to a farm in Whittaker Township in 1940. Adolph and Olinda moved into McClusky in 1988 and he retired from farming several years after that.

Adolph served on the McClusky Coop Creamery Board. and was also a member of McClusky Wildlife Club for several years.

He is survived by his wife, Olinda; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jeraldene and Lee Lang, Stockton, Calif., Joan and Wes Thompson, Aztec, N.M., and Dianne and Melvin Hissung, McClusky; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Allen and Diane Schaeffer and Duane Schaeffer, all of Bismarck; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and his special friends, Roy Hoffman and Paulette Triebwasser.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and six sisters in infancy; four adult brothers, Ephraim, Emanuel, Theophil and Gottlieb; and three sisters, Lydia, Beatha and Lenora.

Bertha Sorenson
NEW ENGLAND -- Bertha Sorenson, 89, New England, died March 20, 2001, in a Hettinger care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Saturday at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church, New England. Further arrangements are pending with Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson.

Margaret Wagner
REEDER -- Margaret Wagner, 73, Reeder, died March 20, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Reeder. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary Jo Verhulst; one son, Bill; seven granddaughters; one brother, Lawrence Molan, Minneapolis, Minn.; and one sister, Mary Kemp, Minneapolis, Minn. (Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Hettinger)

Lydia Bodewin
GOODRICH -- Lydia Bodewin, 90, Goodrich, died March 23, 2001, in a Bismarck care center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Goodrich. Further arrangements are pending at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky.

Matthew Burling
WISHEK -- Matthew Alan Burling, 19, Wishek, died March 21, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. today at Zion Lutheran Church, Ashley, with burial in Ashley Cemetery.

He is survived by his parents, Dale and Diane Burlilng; one brother, Benjamin, Wishek; four sisters, Christie Burling and Sarah Burling, both of Wishek, Becky Messer, Port Neches, Texas, and Julie Waser, Cameron, Wis.; and his grandparents, Olive Ivesdal, Edmore, and Donald and Joyce Burling, Hillsdale, Wis. Phyllis Connolly
Phyllis Connolly, 72, Bismarck, died March 22, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending at Boelter Funeral Home.

Albert DeCoteau
BELCOURT -- Albert DeCoteau, 83, Belcourt, died March 22, 2001, in the Rolla hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Belcourt. Further arrangements are pending at Keplin Funeral Home, Rolette.

Pauline Delzer
JAMESTOWN -- Pauline Delzer, 78, Jamestown, died March 23, 2001, in the Jamestown care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, with burial in Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.

She is survived by her husband, Ernest; one daughter, Jolene Nitschke, Jamestown; two sons, Wade, West Farog, and Clark, Jamestown; four grandchildren; one sister, Caroline Olsen, Mandan; and two brothers, Alex and John, both of Garrison. (Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown)

Hulda Fiechtner
WISHEK -- Hulda Fiechtner, 90, Wishek, died March 23, 2001, in the Wishek nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church, Lehr. Further arrangements are pending at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek.

Alice Kettleson
Alice Caroline Kettleson, 87, a 45-year resident of Bismarck, died of natural causes March 19, 2001, in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She was born June 6, 1913, to Oscar and Hilma (Sandvik) Johnson in Fairdale.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Tom Dunham officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Sunday at Boelter Funeral Home, and will continue at the church one hour before services.

Alice married Jennings Kettleson on Dec. 2, 1934.

Mrs. Kettleson was a Sunday school superintendent, a waitress and a nurse's aid at the Bismarck Hospital for 26 years.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She enjoyed singing, helping others, and had a positive influence on everyone she touched.

She is survived by two daughters, Janice Clark, Waterloo, Iowa, and JoAnn Houser, Olympia, Wash.; three sons, Gerald, Bismarck, Gordon, Charles City, Iowa, and Ronald, Olympia, Wash.; two sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; three grandsons; her mother; her father; one sister; two brothers; two nieces and two nephews.

John Lund
John Max Lund, 71, Bismarck, was called home to be with the Lord at a Bismarck hospital on March 22, 2001. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Bismarck Funeral Home, with the Rev. Lester J. Wolfgram officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan.

John was born June 18, 1929, the son of Louis and Jane (Campbell) Lund in Grand Forks. He graduated from Bordelac High School, Jamestown College, and received his masters degree in secondary education administration from the University of North Dakota.

John served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He married Esther Zaderaka on Sept. 3, 1956, in Minot. He taught in several schools in North Dakota, Wisconsin and Minnesota. After his retirement he was employed by the North Dakota Heritage Center. For the last three Christmases he was Santa Claus at Gateway Mall.

John is survived by his wife of 44 years, Esther; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Laura Lund, Minneapolis, and Louise Lund-Vaa and Raymond Vaa, Yorktown, Va., Carol Lund and Larry Doyle, Richmond, Va., and Candace Lund, Minneapolis; three grandchildren, Jordan and John Vaa, and Maura Doyle; and one sister, Noreen Ponder, El Paso, Texas.

John was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to American Heart Association or American Diabetes Foundation. (Bismarck Funeral Home)
