BOWMAN -- Olga Overland, 88, Bowman, died July 28, 2001, in Bowman. Services will be held at 9 a.m. MDT Wednesday at Bowman Lutheran Church, with burial in Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, S.D. She is survived by one brother, Lawrence Lewison, Bowman; three sisters, Helen Peterson, Billings, Mont., Hilda Tostrud, West Allis, Wis., and Esther Hanson, Albert Lea, Minn.; three children, David Anderson, Bowman, James Anderson, Joliet, Mont., and Ann Beard, Watford City; one stepdaughter, Vicki Anderson, Scranton; two step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. He is survived by one daughter, Erma Dockter, Fargo; two sons, Dennis and Stanley, both of Streeter; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Harry, Stockton, Calif. BELFIELD -- John Strilchuk, 69, Belfield, died July 27, 2001, in his home. Arrangements are pending at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson.

Marvin Zimmer
Marvin R. Zimmer, 55, Bismarck, died July 28, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital after a short illness. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Eastgate Funeral Service, with Burnie Kunz officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery, Mandan, with military rites by VFW Post 1326. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday. Marv was born to Phillip and Otilla (Hust) Zimmer on Feb. 6, 1946, at Jamestown. He grew up in the Tappen area and attended Tappen School. In November 1966 he married his sweetheart, Carole Bodvig, in Tappen. They resided in Minneapolis for six years. Marv was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1967 and served one year in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1969. They moved to Bismarck in 1972. He was employed at the North Dakota State Penitentiary for the past 21 years. Marv was a member and past president of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Bismarck Chapter 150. He played and participated in city league softball for several years. He was a member of North Dakota National Guard. He is survived by his loving wife, Carole; two sons, Mark and Jason, both of Bismarck; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Melvin and Bernie Zimmer, Sioux Falls, S.D., and Ervin and Darlene Zimmer, Carrington. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Phillip and Otilla Zimmer; and a baby sister, Violet. Marv will be greatly missed by his family, friends and co-workers.

HARVEY -- Lenora Bienek, 85, Harvey, died Aug. 1, 2001, in the Harvey hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church, Harvey. Further arrangements are pending at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.

Reuben Borth
HALLIDAY -- Reuben Borth,86, Halliday, died Aug. 1, 2001, in the Hazen hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Halliday. Further arrangements are pending Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson.

Jody Brown
MENOKEN -- Jody Brown, 36, Menoken, died Aug. 1, 2001, in an automobile accident. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Cornerstone Community Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Keith Ritchie officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Sunday at Eastgate Funeral Service. Jody Kay Buechler was born Aug. 18, 1964, in Poplar, Mont., the daughter of Larry and Charleen Buechler. She was raised and educated in Bismarck and graduated from Bismarck High School in 1982. She then attended the University of Mary. On June 20, 1986, she married Dale Brown at McCabe United Methodist Church in Bismarck. She was presently employed at Prairie Nights as a surveillance technician. Jody loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed the outdoors and was a Minnesota Viking fan. She is survived by her husband, Dale; one son, Dillon John; one daughter, Kasey Jo; her parents, Larry and Charlene Buechler; one brother, Weylin Buechler and his fiance, Nancy Bayer, all of Bismarck; her in-laws, Myron and Jeanette Brown, Center; two sisters-in-law; aunts; uncles; numerous nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Linda. She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Leo Connolly
SENTINEL BUTTE -- Leo B. "Bud" Connolly, 72, Sentinel Butte, died July 31, 2001, in his home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MDT Saturday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Beach, with the Rev. David Morman officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Sentinel Butte. A prayer service will begin at 7 tonight at Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home, Beach, with the Rev. Larry Phalen officiating. Bud was born Feb. 8, 1929, in Ayer, Mass., the son of Leo and Virginia (Green) Connolly. He received his education in Massachusetts. Bud was married to Francis Phillips on Jan. 5, 1955, in Kingsland, Ga. Bud was born in an area with many race horses and race tracks. His first job was with jumpers and then gaited horses, then race horses. His dad traveled back and forth between Texas and Massachusetts and that gave him his first taste of rodeo. Bud was a professional cowboy for 20 years. During this time he married and raised 12 children of his own and several boys along the way. He dearly loved to help kids learn to ride rough stock and to rope. The last eight years he has had Shawn and Breezy for his side kicks. Bud served in the U.S. Army as a medic in Korea for two years. He had several physical problems the last few years, but never allowed them to keep him down or to spoil his love for his family, friends and animals. He broke some pretty good race horses such as Carryback who won over a million dollars and several more. The kids say, "all their life they never heard him tell a lie or fail to be honest in his observations, unless he was joking or pulling your leg," a true characteristic of an Irishman. Bud was preceded in death by one son, Joe; and one brother, Kenneth. He is survived by his wife, Frankie; five daughters, Shireen Ducheneaux and her husband, Boyd, Ocala, Fla., Kathleen Zahl, Sparr, Fla., Stephanie Connolly, New Castle, Okla., Kelly Connolly, Duluth, Minn., and Brianna Connolly, Sentinel Butte; six sons, Kenneth and his wife, Lynn, and Brian Connolly, both of Ocala, Fla., Phillip Connolly and his wife Cindy, Decatur, Texas, Mike Connolly and his wife, Pam, Mackburg, Iowa, James Connolly and his wife, Holly, Fairdale, Ky., and Shawn Connolly, Sentinel Butte; one daughter-in-law, Kim; one sister, Clare Teague, Lowell, Mass.; one brother, Joe, Lowell; 23 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

JAMESTOWN -- Dorothy E. Hall, 71, Jamestown, died Aug. 1, 2001, in Hudson, Wis. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown. She is survived by two daughters, Waltara Orley, Anchorage, Alaska, and Tamara Gunderzik, Hudson; one son, Timothy, Green Bay, Wis.; six grandchildren; and one brother, William Sherwood, Butte, Mont. He is survived by three sons, Willis, Villard, Minn., Robert and Gerald, both of Rochester, Minn.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five sisters, Lena Wolf, Elizabeth Leimer, both of Jamestown, Bertha Bauer, Lodi, Calif., Lydia Noonan, Fort Collins, Colo., and Sophia Beckman, Ypsilanti; and three brothers, Fred, Jamestown, Edwin, Beaver Dam, Wis., and Ted, Sebastopol, Calif. GRASSY BUTTE -- Ella Storm, 51, Grassy Butte, died Aug. 1, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. MDT Monday at Grassy Butte Community Hall, with burial in Grassy Butte Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Edgar; one daughter, Sharon, Williston; one son, Shannon, Grassy Butte; her brothers, Bromley Jr., Thief River Falls, Minn., Earl, Killdeer, Benton, Fairview, Mont., Jerome and Duane, both of Grassy Butte; her sister, Bonnie Rosaaen, Oregon City, Ore.; one granddaughter; and her half-brother, Merril Carr, California. Adam Wald
Adam Wald, 72, Bismarck, died July 31, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Church of St. Anne, Bismarck, with the Revs. Ed Wehner and Arnold Spain and Deacon Joe Mathern officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. today at Bismarck Funeral Home, where a vigil service will begin at 7:30 tonight, followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary at 8. Visitation will continue at the church one hour before services. Adam was born Sept. 19, 1928, the son of Conrad and Margaret (Schmidt) Wald. He was raised in Logan County and educated in a Logan County country school. He was a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus and Eagles Cllub. Adam married Lillian Feist in 1949 in Zeeland. He was employed by Northern Improvement and St. Alexius Hospital prior to his retirement in 1991. He enjoyed carpentry, dancing, playing cards and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lillian; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rod and Deb, Bismarck, and Brian and Barb, Shoreview, Minn.; six daughters and five sons-in-law, Shirley and Dennis Wetzel, Bismarck, Karen Emter, Bismarck, Joell and Todd Burian, Bismarck, Arlene and Lee Garner, Glyndon, Minn., Lorie and Tom Andres, Dayton, Minn., and Delilah and Patrick Jamison, Apple Valley, Minn.; 17 grandchildren, Mike and Shari Wetzel, Brent and Mary Wetzel, Wendy, Travis and Aaron Wald, Daron and Karie Thomas, Stacey Thomas, Amanda and Lindsey Burian, Rachel and Courtney Garner, ToniLyn and Angel Andres, Taylor and Parker Jamison, and Dylan and Jordyn Wald; two great-grandchildren, Kyra Wetzel and Amanda Mittleider; three brothers, Conrad, Sylvester and Frank; and six sisters, Phyllis Wald, Julie Feist, Christina Dosch, Dorothy Wald, Helen Schmidt and Margie Vonesh. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Markus Wald; and his sister, Elizabeth Ell. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the National Alzheimer's Association.

Edward Walther
LINTON -- Edward Walther, 84, Linton, died Aug. 1, 2001, in the Linton hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Linton. Further arrangements are pending at Myers Funeral Home, Linton.

August Christian
NEW SALEM -- August Christian, 86, New Salem, died May 27, 2000, in the New Salem nursing home. Services will be held 10 a.m. MDT Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church, New Salem, with the Rev. Loren Strum officiating. Burial will be in the Churchtown Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. today at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, New Salem, and will continue at the church one hour before services. August Christian was born Sept. 13, 1913, on the family farm in Rosebud, the son of William and Amelia (Mueller) Christian. August lived most of his life on the family farm in Morton County. He married Louise Scherer in Mandan on Jan. 18, 1935. A member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Churchtown, where he was baptized and confirmed, he served as church secretary for many years. At the time of his death he was a member of the cemetery committee. He became a member of Zion Lutheran Church in New Salem, after the Christ Lutheran Church closed following the 100 year anniversary. In August 1970 he and Louise moved into New Salem. He worked for Farmers Union Elevator there. August enjoyed playing cards with his friends and time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Louise; one daughter and son-in-law, Ardella and Robert Schwagler, New Salem; three sons and daughters-in-law, Loren and Mary, Marlen and Sheila, and Randy and Linda, all of New Salem; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; seven sisters; and two brothers.
